Article: The big companies are up to something... a sensational move from each
Source: OSEN via Naver
Just talking about how SM and YG are doing well with SM's merge with Woollim and YG's new boy groups.
1. [+148, -16] There's no JYP in news about the big companies now ㅎㅎ
2. [+145, -28] I honestly think the top company in our country is Korea... They have such a strong foundation that you can't picture them ever falling apart. SM idols are always bound for success, it's really only a matter of time. They know how to make money, and it's almost scary to the extent that they know exactly what the fans want. I remember wondering last year what they were going to do with EXO and look how big they've become now... There's no worries needed for SM.
3. [+117, -11] No place for JYP anymore ㅎㅎ They should just focus on SUzy
4. [+83, -10] SM is scary. They call it SM C&C but I think SM is trying to become like Japan's Johnny's by just sucking up everything, even the companies. They'll end up taking over the entire broadcasting industry at this rate, just like how Johnny's runs Japan.
5. [+60, -10] I'm just so sick of these companies pumping out idol groups that are ruining the industry. They're trained in the rehearsal rooms, given dances to copy, and forced to believe that this is their passion, forced to cry for it like robots and puppets. It's so upsetting to me that these puppets are the ones leading Korean culture and the music industry today.
6. [+57, -15] The catch is that their songs still aren't improving
7. [+41, -6] No one even mentions JYP anymore... SM and YG are the two tops of our country now, I guess
-
2. [+145, -28] I honestly think the top company in our country is Korea...
ReplyDeleteTypo???
1. [+148, -16] There's no JYP in news about the big companies now ㅎㅎ
ReplyDelete^^And yet i saw an article saying JYP is coming bck soon.
4. [+83, -10] SM is scary. They call it SM C&C but I think SM is trying to become like Japan's Johnny's by just sucking up everything, even the companies. They'll end up taking over the entire broadcasting industry at this rate, just like how Johnny's runs Japan.
ReplyDeleteYeah and now they're going to merge with Starship, WM and JTune Camp.... scary.

ReplyDeleteTHIS
what's jyp?
ReplyDeleteAnd a new article just surfaced about sistar's and b1a4's companies among those who are most probably merging with sm too......
ReplyDelete4. [+83, -10] SM is scary. They call it SM C&C but I think SM is

^^That would be interesting to see broadcasting Channel fr SM.
In my opinion SM ceo >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> YG ceo.
ReplyDeleteJay Why Pee...
ReplyDelete6. [+57, -15] The catch is that their songs still aren't improving
ReplyDelete!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
JYP needs to step up his game though I'm really liking Sunmi's new song.
ReplyDeleteHonestly YG and SM releases were all pretty lackluster. Besides Trap, Growl and Dream girl. The rest were pretty bad mediocre at best.
The novelty factor of kpop is starting to wear off and I just hope the new groups deliver cause kpop needs it.
not related but jack & finn ♥
ReplyDeleteGotta love their dedication to perfection.
ReplyDelete5. [+60, -10] I'm just so sick of these companies pumping out idol
ReplyDeletegroups that are ruining the industry. They're trained in the rehearsal

There's supply when there's demand. YG has such strong artistes in the form of Big Bang, 2NE1 and Epik High but I just hope that their new boy group won't go down the same path as 2PM/2AM. Both groups are doing fine now but I definitely had higher hopes while watching 'Hot Blood' then.
2. [+145, -28] I honestly think the top company in our country is Korea...
ReplyDeletewuuuuut?!
SM knows very well how to suck up our money jfc i hate sm but love sm at the same time
ReplyDeleteI don't care abt merging as long as they keep SM idols group separate. that's all i want.
ReplyDelete*whispers* jyp
ReplyDeleteReally? What was it about?
ReplyDeleteReally? Receipts? Also who does Starship manage?
ReplyDeleteLOL I can't understand people who actually PAY for kpop. So bizarre.
ReplyDeleteYeah I think a word is missing here? lol
ReplyDeleteisn't it just a rumor? nothing has confirm yet..
ReplyDeleteSistar, K. Will and Boyfriend
ReplyDeleteI read that a couple of times too like huh? o.O
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
ReplyDeletePeople can hate/dislike how SM runs stuff and how the basically train their artists in every aspect to the point where it's a bit annoying.
But you can't help but accept the fact that, SM is still business and they're good at what they do when it comes to coming with new ways to make more money.
2. [+145, -28] I honestly think the top company in our country is
ReplyDeleteKorea... They have such a strong foundation that you can't picture them

!!!--->The longest comment yet it speaks a lot. EXO has become so popular after Growl Promotion and their albums (Repack+XOXO) exceed 500,000 copies in Hanteo chart alrdy!!
sm needs to calm down at trying to create a monopoly. u might just kill kpop in the end.
ReplyDeleteew no
ReplyDeleteSM is ruining everything
SM's had it's failings but always gives the impression it's more in control of schedules than YG. God love 'em, but there's always this feeling of "How will YG keep all these promised comebacks?" when they announce anything.
ReplyDeleteKpop industry is nearly monopolized. Maybe it's just a matter of time who'll take over who between YG and SM.
ReplyDeletetbh only nugu companies have been pumping out new idols like crazy, not so much SM and YG.
ReplyDeleteWoolim agreed to merge with Sm C&C because Woolim had finance difficulty
ReplyDeleteother small companies should be careful with SM. SM will get any chances to usurp other companies
Oh boy, let's play a game of Monopoly >.>
ReplyDeleteNah, I still prefer YG
ReplyDeleteI think its about time JYP removes the "Leader in entertainment" from their logo
ReplyDeleteLOL!! I like that! That's true!! YG and SM won't debut unless they r sure they will get money and fame! XDD
ReplyDelete"it's almost scary to the extent that they know exactly what the fans want."
ReplyDeleteLooks. Doesn't take a genius.
SM ceo: LSM >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> KYM
ReplyDeleteWhat's the point of a SM channel when all their idols are all over TV anyways? LOL
ReplyDeleteSM has been doing well in breaking into the South American and part of the European market however I think YG has a bigger chance of breaking into the American market. Which I think they are all trying to do. I like SM's artists but I hate how the company treats and manufactures them, meanwhile I think YG gives them a bit more freedom of expression, which is a key factor in making it in the U.S..
ReplyDeleteI'm forever disappointed how the creator of Wonder Girls is the reason they're ruined. If they managed them properly, they would still be on top.
ReplyDeleteIA to almost all of this. I like Sunmi's new song too, but JYP needs to get back in step. He needs to bring back Miss A or do something with JJ Project and have 15& promote more. He has talented acts but they're all just laying about.
ReplyDeleteYG and SM's releases haven't been good and I think they're slumming it because they can.
ANd yes, the novelty factor in kpop will wear off. A lot of people I know that were really into kpop last year just don't curr and have moved on since then. Kpop is honestly getting so stale and there's little to be really excited about anymore, little that makes a lasting memory. Even stuff like Growl - like yeah Growl is good but we think it's better than it really is because we're used to EXO putting out shit and being jokes. But Growl as a song is just really mediocre 90s R&B.
I feel like in Kpop you're taught to lower your standards so you can enjoy everything but soon that won't be enough anymore.
The worst fucking thing to happen to kpop
ReplyDeleteI hope you kill yourself
ReplyDeleteU will understand once u find ur bias or ur selfcontrol is great that u don't spend money on them. :)))
ReplyDeleteYou can check it here though http://www.sportsworldi.com/Articles/EntCulture/Article.asp?aid=20130828022294&subctg1=30&subctg2=00&OutUrl=daum

6. [+57, -15] The catch is that their songs still aren't improving
ReplyDeleteLaughed so hard at this TBH...that shade.
It's true though, both of their releases this year have been generally meh, but they're still as a whole successful and powerful.
no.. JTC pls don't.. I love MBLAQ coz of their originality.. pleaaassee...
ReplyDeleteSm ceo was in interpol most wanted list
ReplyDeleteI have plenty of biases including the likes of Onew, Taemin, Kai, YB, etc. and I still won't pay a dime.
ReplyDeletecalm down.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was samsung
ReplyDeleteStill no hit songs from both top companies. What y'all doing?
ReplyDeleteAs much as we hate it, Crayon Pop's Bar Bar Bar is the new hit right now. IDC what people say, I'm basing it from the amount of popularity they are getting from fans.
So true. YG's music has been shit this year and SM's music has ranged from not-even-really-music to passable with a few outliers like Dream Girl which were actually good. But SM is getting lazy because they know stupid fangirls will pay for whatever oppa puts out even if it's just a track of Chen farting.
ReplyDeletei think your post is the bizarre one, why wont you pay for kpop?
ReplyDeleteWhat I find weird is that if SM had partnered up with CJE&M then they would be a monopoly
ReplyDeletethat means u don't like them to the max of paying money yet.
ReplyDelete4. [+83, -10] SM is scary. They call it SM C&C but I think SM is trying to become like Japan's Johnny's by just sucking up everything, even the companies. They'll end up taking over the entire broadcasting industry at this rate, just like how Johnny's runs Japan.
ReplyDeleteThis is pretty close. Johnny's pretty much covers every inch of the male idol market in Japan - single and album sales, variety shows, dramas, stageplays, etc. They have multiple groups covering each age bracket - so a fangirl is bound to find a group or idol she likes. They have several extremely influential groups like SMAP or Arashi that they use to leverage for exposure for newer debuted groups like Kis-my-ft2. They're able to manipulate the broadcasting industry this way.
SM has been trying very hard to extend its influence into dramas and variety. To truly become the Johnny's of Korea, though, in terms of influence, they need more acts on their roster. They need to cover more of the potential market and capture a large audience. That's why acquiring more companies and groups like Infinite and Tasty is a brilliant move on part of SM. It'll be interesting to watch what SM chooses to do next after this merger.
"and it's almost scary to the extent that they know exactly what the fans want"
ReplyDeletei guess that shows they know the majority of fans are predictable n generic...well, surprisingly...majority of kpop fans out there are just as predictable as SM thought....and so they have control. they definitely don't know or have what i want though. if course, that's cause i'm not generic. *thumbsdown time*. lol. i personally think YG is trying to pull an Exo with their new boygroup...making it seemed like a cmpetition for now to gain support nsympathy from fans for both teams n then...let the fans bomb them with request to debut both groups and .....bam, "we listen to fans"....let's see if they're as predictable as i'm predicting.
It's only a rumor, it's not confirmed.
ReplyDeletelove jyp till the end
ReplyDelete"YG is trying to pull an Exo with their new boygroup" Wrong.
ReplyDeleteIt means you are probably poor and download kpop illegally. Shame on you. Santa won't be happy.
ReplyDeleteExactly! Ugggh it scares me that they "have" Nell now.. I'm really wondering how they are going to manage them. Their music doesn't fit into their concept (TRAX anyone?) so I hope they don't move them aside. They want to take over the industry but in all honestly all they know how to do as a company is sell a product, they have so much wasted talent and yet they are the company that is taking over?! Ahh.
ReplyDeletewhat did the person say?
ReplyDeleteShould be SM
ReplyDeletewhooooo....is that girl i see.. staring straight, back at me?
ReplyDeletesomeone will post this anyway
ReplyDeleteguess the love has stopped
ReplyDeleteSM is going to merge with so many idol companies that in the end the only idols that will be left will be under yg.
ReplyDeleteIf any girl group had a chance to make it in the west I think it would've been Miss A had they been managed correctly. :/
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting because SM seizing control over the idol industry would completely take the variety and the competition out of kpop. It'd be awful plus I don't think SM has the ability to make groups that don't have that 'SM' feel. But at the same time, having a monopoly on all the groups would mean that SM could regulate the overabundance of groups that are currently oversaturating and ruining the kpop market. So if SM grows in power, they have the power to potentially make or break k-pop's 3rd/4th gen.
ReplyDeleteI don't really have an opinion on it but it's an interesting thing to point out lol
jyp doesn't love you and is only in it for himself and his precious failed wonder girls~
ReplyDeleteYG may be a troll but I don't think he'll try to pull an EXO with his new boy group. YG artists are known because they usually do what they want while performing and I highly doubt a group of 11 boys would be able to do what they want on stage.
ReplyDeletesm wouldn't waste their time
ReplyDeleteIn the context of the comment, I think they were talking about SM being the top (music label) company.
ReplyDeletemonopoly is not fun ...
ReplyDeleteOr it means there's more important things in life than maxing out money on pop stars?
ReplyDeletelol they actually have that there?
ReplyDeleteoh really? I hope it'll stay as rumor
ReplyDeleteK-pop is already well on way to killing itself. SM monopolizing everything just makes it faster.
ReplyDeleteBut SM has lots of influence in entertainment industry so small companies like them won't really want to refuse.
ReplyDelete1. [+148, -16] There's no JYP in news about the big companies now ㅎㅎ
ReplyDeletethere's no Big 3 anymore..
Yeah, Samsung does it all- shopping malls, electronics, advertising companies, constructions, hotels, etc. Year 2010 it earned $258 billion, I don't think any entertainment co. (even when combined) can earn that much
ReplyDeleteplease die or I'm going to kill you. something that involved death
ReplyDeleteYea well, except SM got caught breaking the law. Plus LSM even has a criminal record.
ReplyDeleteIt's like idols r rumored to b casted n then the next day the article comes out n said, "comfirmed"
ReplyDeleteI think it's juz a matter of time we will see offical statement.
pretty much every ceo had a criminal record sadly.
ReplyDeleteI just hope that what happened to JYP doesn't happen to YG or SM.
ReplyDeleteIs JYP going down underSM too, lol?
ReplyDelete"5. [+60, -10] I'm just so sick of these companies pumping out idol

It's not the companies that are at fault lmao. It's the fans who give these companies the means to continue investing. KPop is still POP music after all and just like every other music scene in the world, it's bound to have a large (if not the largest) followers of them all. Also, KPOP isn't necessarily leading Korean culture. It's just only a few kpop groups that are successful.
there have only been discussions about it, no desicions made yet.
ReplyDeleteOh, please, no. Sistar is too precious for SM.
ReplyDelete"Just talking about how SM and YG are doing well with SM's merge with Woollim and YG's new boy groups. "
ReplyDeleteI get that SM doing well with woolim
but YG new boy groups ? but none of them debut yet ...
SM and YG are still reliable in debuting new idols.. they are not going to throw a bunch of people and debut new groups just like that.. quality comes first..
ReplyDeletewe're talking about music industry here
ReplyDeleteSo much for a company that runs noodle industry at first.
ReplyDelete"I honestly think the top company in our country is Korea" ?????
ReplyDeleteby the looks of it. in the article jyp isn't even a top company anymore.
ReplyDeleteYou honestly think Dream Girl was the best thing SM out out this year... I'm sorry but even most SHINee fans thought that song paled in comparison to their past hits.
ReplyDeleteIf you're honestly calling SM lazy for TAKING OBVIOUS RISKS (I Got a Boy, Wolf and Rum Pum Pum Pum were definitely risky and I liked how unique they were), then apparently every company is lazy for trying then. I don't get how you can call SM lazy when their albums have sold so well because of the excellent album tracks. Barely any filler tbh.
Haha, ah I don't think they understood you were being sarcastic.
ReplyDeleteI don't think JYP and YG do...(at least to my knowledge).
ReplyDeleteThe older guys however, many of them are connected to mobs or members (and even bosses) of such themselves.
Had it not been for the political correction fuckups by the government in the late 80s and 90s, many of the current CEOs of K-pop labels would still be rotting in jail or have been executed already.
these albums are great tbh .. Catch Me, Pink Tape, XOXO, IGAB
ReplyDeleteAs long as they don't touch my precious indie acts, i don't really care.
ReplyDeleteBecause most of it is pretty bad. I lower my standards to enjoy this stuff but it's not worth paying for. They need to really knock my socks off if they want to get my money but so far it's all so boring and just okay.
ReplyDeleteCapitalism is bullshit.
ReplyDeleteImagine if SM took over Mnet. KKS would be out of a job in no time >:)
ReplyDeleteim afraid so http://www.jype.com/
ReplyDeleteThe Woollim merging was also a rumor back in first quarter. It turnedout to be truth.
ReplyDeleteI won't be surprised if one of those companies merge with SM CC as well.
what did he do O_O to have criminal record ?
ReplyDeletepersonal opinion:
ReplyDeleteI think when YG is trying so hard to uphold the past images of their artists they start to produce sounds that fall flat (i's no longer about the music but it's about how to keep my artists in that image that gave them hype and popularity way back when) ... where they chose to let go of that image they succeeded (lee hi) or with seungri's album which was great but if you delve into k-music you tend to find a lot of songs with the same taste or sound ... nothing resonated from him. I don't know YG needs something big ... soon. waiting for GD, Teayang, PSY and the new boy group to see how those go ... luck hasn't been exactly on their side for a while.
SM is just a troll ... I feel sometimes that they are playing games on k-pop fans because they are so cemented at the top .... they come up with horrible title songs (completely unrepresentative of the album tracks) one minute and the next they give you a great song (growl) and then next they merge their subsidiary and include those artists into SM town .... Knowing perfectly the consequences of that decision ... SM = forever trying to get on k-pop fans nerves.
Sistar is competition though....it'd be easy for SM to keep them in a smaller tier just to avoid them getting TOO big and challenging their groups.
ReplyDeleteAlso, will they be apart of SMTOWN and go on tour? Are they trying to turn Korean Wave Concerts into SM Concerts?
maybe that needs to happen....
ReplyDeleteYou have a point. I think I Got a Boy, Wolf and Rum Pum Pum Pum were all shit songs but because they were experimentally shitty, not lazy. And yes, much less filler on albums this year. Most of the b-side tracks have been a lot better than the title tracks tbh.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to apply laziness to SM it's in the cheapo music videos.
pressed
ReplyDelete6. [+57, -15] The catch is that their songs still aren't improving
ReplyDeleteThere are definitely recent SM album releases worth giving a listen to.
COUGH FX COUGH SHINEE COUGH COUGH EVEN EXO COUGH
JYP please do some thing...I miss Wonder Girls!!!
ReplyDeleteCJE&M will have something to say about this. They're the ones who tried to initiate a hostile takeover of SM back in 2009.
ReplyDeleteMY EYES
ReplyDeleteThe rumor said SM C&C will choose other company too such as JTune (mblaq), Starship (sistar) and WM (B1A4). I'm just glad no cube ent. here because i dont want cube merge with other company. I know this merge also can gives a positive feedback but trust me, its also can gives them a negative things. Not all fans can accept this merge. As a B2UTIES, i dont want this happens with cube. Cube has their own power and I'm bet cube know what to do with their own artist. Btw, goodluck to the company who choose this merge and joined SM c&c. Peace no war~
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure even the founder of Samsung never really envisioned his company becoming what it is today.
ReplyDeleteActually, that could apply to just about any founder of a major conglomerate.
In the race game, JYP is the winner
ReplyDeleteI actually cringe when I saw that for the first time in Kpop Star. Omgah so cheezy. xD
ReplyDeleteWoolim has finance difficulty?? why??
ReplyDeletecoming back as a CEO?
ReplyDeleteI only liked IGAB and RPPP but wolf was really bad
ReplyDeleteIs what SM doing monopolizing? I'm honestly curious because they aren't dissolving those other companies, but adding them one. (sorry I never took Economics in school and I can only remember only a few things about a Monopoly).
ReplyDelete[+57, -15] The catch is that their songs still aren't improving
Base if off the title song, then yes I can see why people would think that, but actually listening to the album you'll come to find that the album's are far better and do not disappoint.
The creator is papa Hong, right?
ReplyDeleteSM is like a vacuum sucking in all the dusts(small companies).
ReplyDelete"JYP", SM & YG whispered as he faded into the oblivion. hahaha
ReplyDeleteFraud and corruption (especially PR fees), way back in 2002 when the police were doing a widespread investigation in corruption practices in the showbiz - not surprisingly, SM was one of the many targets.
ReplyDeleteIt's all here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Soo-man
Not many people really remember it, since it was so long ago.
YG>>>>>>>>>>>>SM
ReplyDeleteLook, Captain Obvious.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
ReplyDeleteSM C&C has a hold on some of Korea's most big named singers, actors, and comedians, so they have a good hand in all categories of entertainment and the power to control the way certain things work out.
ReplyDeleteThey wanted to push infinite more internationally, but didn't have the money or resources to..
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome. Well not very much actually, but for the sake of politeness.
ReplyDeleteWhat about TRAX? I'm honestly curious. Not disagreeing with you, I do hope that Nell get's promoted well and otherwise not interfered with.
ReplyDeleteFrom my perspective the way that SM has continued to support TRAX is one of few things I sincerely like about the company. TRAX, unlike Nell, was never particularly successful in Korea or abroad unfortunately. However SM hasn't disbanded them despite two members leaving, and generally they've been able to do a comeback a year along with other activities.
I can't see Nell facing issues similar to TRAX as Nell already has strong public recognition and fans.
Unless I misinterpreted your comment and you meant music wise, then yes SM would have to be idiotic to screw with what already works for Nell by trying to push a different style.
sm is becoming the Apple of kpop.....*sigh*....a monopoly is never a good idea....
ReplyDeleteWonder why only SM that gets hate over the merging thing; why isn't Woollim too? I mean, if SM could "buy" it means Woollim was willing to "sell" right.
ReplyDeleteKPOP rumors = FACTS
ReplyDeleteIKR...the last idol group YG pumped out was 5 years ago...and that was 4 years after BB
ReplyDeletenow that I think of it, it's quite a feat, managing to stay up top within the idols, considering YG only has 2 groups...BB especially...
the difference is that YG is gonna focus on talent more than looks
ReplyDeletebecause ppl tend to love the "minority"
ReplyDeleteSm tried to conquer the world again...or just korea...sigh
ReplyDeleteA little bit of both, music and image wise. The guys from TRAX where really talented but the company kept trying to push a concept (including their names, xmas seriously xD) and that just didn't work, at first they tried to make them fit into the Japanese rock scene of that time and that didn't work they they tried to make them fit into kpop and that didn't work. If they would've let them just focus on music and let the band just do their thing I'm sure they would've been a lot more successful. Yes, they keep them around because they are talented and have also compose songs for some of their artists but as a band they didn't make it. That's my issue with SM, they can't just let an artist be an artist :( Nell has a very unique style and focus only on their music (they don't really focus on visuals) also I don't think that the guys would let SM try to manipulate that causing them to maybe walk out and we've seen what happens to an artist when they try to leave SM right? I'm really hoping they'll let them stay as they are and support them as such.
ReplyDeleteI llove sm idols but hate sm lol
ReplyDeletethis so much....it's comforting to see that people realize this
ReplyDeleteyou have to admit that Sm artists envy YG artistic freedom they would never have what GD, Taeyang and Seungri have achieved as solo artists.
ReplyDeleteHAHA what? DSP was known for their looks and look where they are now
ReplyDeletehttp://media.animevice.com/uploads/1/12141/462966-u_mad.png
ReplyDeletei agree. I love SM artists but I do not like the company. Not even a little bit.
ReplyDeleteI see SM more like Samsung and YG like apple
ReplyDeleteThey are in Korea
ReplyDeletehttp://24.media.tumblr.com/7c47e671aa5837c230713dd66664b8d8/tumblr_mr43078q4w1snsexto1_500.jpg
ReplyDeleteI can imagine all the boxed up music videos.
ReplyDeleteOh god only in kpop would you have a ceo bias
ReplyDeleteNo hard feelings mate :)
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's being lazy, more like trying something different, and when you try something different, chances are you'll either get a lot of praise or criticism or both. IGAB, Rumpumpumpum, and Wolf are all different but I doubt having title tracks that do not cater to a lot of K-Pop fans' taste is a sign of a company's laziness. It's like testing the waters and it just so happens that SM can afford it without losing much because their groups have solid fanbase plus there are also listeners who like those songs despite the general opinions on them.
ReplyDeleteYeah SM came out with F(x) in 2009 and debuted EXO 3 years later in 2012. YG added already established singers to there line up in recent years and debuted Lee Hi as a solo in 2012. The last idol group they debuted was 2NE1 in 2009. JYP came out with to duos JJ Project and 15& in 2012 and Sunmi's comeback this month.
ReplyDeleteYou're right none of them are really pumping idol groups out. They have tones of trainees that have years to decided if this is really the path they want to take. And they make sure before debut that the group works and gets along.
I still don't get why people hate on idols just cause they move around stage and entertain people. A lot of idol group members are highly underrated by anti idol people.
Honestly Wolf and I got a boy are my favorite songs this year. I mean you can repeat the songs hundred of times without being bored. Perhaps it's just my opinion LOL
ReplyDelete"SM has been doing well in breaking into the South American and part of the European market"
ReplyDeletehow? by having concerts in south america? because a lot of groups are doing that, I don't see how that's breaking into the market when they're not even releasing songs targeted to those countries
I'm really a kpop fans in a time when WG famous, so I don't really understand, why people always reminisence about how big they were. I mean, it's not like they are disbanded, they still there, people just should buy their album when it come out, that's all. Eventhough I know, WG are pretty average if you look at them now. Their singing is just basic, except for Yeeun maybe. Their faces are also not the top beauty when compared to other girl groups IMO. Sohee probably look beautiful for Korean but I don't understand why. It's JYP who made them big with perfect concept in the first place.
ReplyDeletePeople seem to be surprised the company is growing. SM hadn't even surpassed their 20th anniversary. They should accomplish more and that's what they are doing right now.
ReplyDeleteCUBE is with JYP -_-
ReplyDeletewhy people only mad at sm, it's win win situation and this merger thing is not an illegal thing right
ReplyDeleteThe same can be said for every other girl grps tbh...
ReplyDeleteomg me too. LOL. i kinda hoped that the first half of igab wouldve been how the whole song would've been but oh well
ReplyDeletethey made a bad decision with wolf the public still make fun of exo because of that song.
ReplyDeletelol
ReplyDeleteIf they took out the stupid rap and rock sequences and made the rest flow better it could have been a great song. The primary dance hook is really catchy.
ReplyDeleteuhh no..? -.-'
ReplyDeleteof course! but sistar is quite decent I think, they have at least one and a half main singer (hyorin and soyu). And then 2ne1, eventhough park bom as the main singer is not really that great, but their songs mostly consist of raps anyway, and they have 2 great rappers.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, poor Jungmo XD
ReplyDeleteYeah, I agree with that. SM should really embrace artistic expression from their groups, they really do hold a lot of talent that's just going unused.
It's just tough to tell whether they would risk changing up what Nell already does well when it would almost assuredly only bring them a huge wave of backlash. But I guess we won't know for sure until Nell releases something under them :/
Also it'd be interesting to find out about their contracts and whether they had to sign new terms for a certain length contract when SM absorbed Woolim. Because once people's contract terms run out SM doesn't really interfere with them leaving, at least in no way near the same degree as if they tried to break contract. They've been with Woolim for a while so I'd think that as long as they didn't have to sign a new contract, they should be able to leave easily enough (hopefully) if they are having issues with SM.
actually CUBE's CEO was the one who created WG, not JYP
ReplyDeleteOne and a half main singer?? LOLOLOLOL

ReplyDeleteYour eyes are being blessed by the sexiness that is the plastic pants of JYP.
ReplyDeleteI can't stand Johnnys. they pretty much have a monopoly over the boyband market in Japan. I wouldn't mind if their groups were different but they all look and sound the same gdi.
ReplyDeleteHaha, Soyu is good, is just that she didn't get enough part in their songs.
ReplyDeleteYou're right. i have to add that, from another perspective, If SM creates a monopoly, thre would be no competition, If there's no competition, SM would not care anymore about the quality of its material, (I know tat it's been dicreasing but with the monopoly the decrease would be complete). The most inured would be the fans, they would be only exposed to see the same material with no creativity from the company. I hope this plan is only a rumor TBH.
ReplyDeleteThe thing is, if you put hyorin together with almost any member of girl group, they come as half. Soyu has done a good job keeping up with Hyorin.
ReplyDeleteSame thing applies to any system. Everything has its ups and downs. It all comes down to the responsibility of the individual.
ReplyDeleteI honestly think the top company in our country is Korea...
ReplyDeleteerrrr.. typo? Korea -> SM?
I think they knew what they were getting themselves into when they tried for the American market. Besides, jyp isn't the only one to mess up. SM & YG also did the same thing to Boa & Se7en's careers.
ReplyDeletewtf...OMG...it's titillating me haha
ReplyDelete4. [+83, -10] SM is scary. They call it SM C&C but I think SM is trying to become like Japan's Johnny's by just sucking up everything, even the companies. They'll end up taking over the entire broadcasting industry at this rate, just like how Johnny's runs Japan.
ReplyDeleteSmall companies probably need some financial help for world tour...you're lucky that your favourite group that's merging right now can go on world tour to promote themselves internationally...it's better than promoting only in SK forever lol.
Plus those groups that's going to SMTOWN concert (i.e. Infinite, Tasty etc.) their company doesn't need to pay any $$$ for hiring/renting stuff...it's all SM Entertainment shout (I think...) & of course, the group's job is to sing their ass off lol.
WG's craze was going down rapidly by the emergence of new girl groups which was strong in 07-08 so jyp decided to try out usa instead
ReplyDeletei don't care about the merging thing...what i care is don't put other idol/artist in SMTOWN concert
ReplyDeletei'm not hating other artist...but smtown is for sm artist and fan
Music Industry
ReplyDelete"I still don't get why people hate on idols just cause they move around stage and entertain people"
ReplyDeleteThat isn't the only reason why they're hated. It's a bit more complex than that.
i fuckin love SM none takes care of their entire artist line up like SM do they are like a one big happy family
ReplyDeleteA lot of sm stans forget that fact about LSM because they're too busy worshiping him.
ReplyDelete[+57, -15] The catch is that their songs still aren't improving
ReplyDeleteSM don't need a good song. They will sell out everything they produce i think...
trax members currently serving in army ...why must care about nell ?
ReplyDeletethat "merge" doesn't mean SM should handle their music like some wollim
stan hate SM because worry their oppa music will changes .. oh please .
plus , infinite already said their music will not change ...
dont bring IGAB together with rpp and wolf just to sound cool just don't
ReplyDeletejust bunch of wollim stan who scared their oppa's music will change and doesn't fit with SM music or whatever ... lol ^^
