Psy ends 'Gentleman' promotions

Article: Psy announces end of 'Gentleman' promotions "I've done my best"

1. [+489, -70] I think it was Gangnam Style that was just too daebak for Gentleman to follow up with. I feel like Gentleman did well for what it achieved considering that.

2. [+323, -48] Gangnam Style was too much to live up to. Gentleman was great but it was kind of obvious the song was rushed for the American market. I want to listen to original Psy style songs next time.

3. [+305, -67] Psy needs to focus on his own music style instead of trying to fit his music to the tastes of foreigners just because Gangnam Style hit daebak. That was just a random burst of fate. There's a clear difference between light music that can be enjoyed by anyone and cheap music...

4. [+42, -7] Yeah, just stick to your style instead of forcing humor that no one will laugh at... Too much sexually suggestive content. It's no different from the music America's already used to.

5. [+33, -7] Gentleman really did cross the line. The music video especially failed because of the Infinity Challenge members... They may be popular in Korea but they have 0 public recognition overseas.

6. [+23, -3] YG's autotune is ruining Psy

7. [+14, -8] Are people seriously saying Gentleman did okay? Even the BBC was calling it trash ㅋㅋㅋㅋ The first time I heard it, I thought some idiot wrote the song while he was high ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

  5. I didn't know he started promoting honestly.

  6. Love how the four first comments are all saying the same thing xD

  7. Ok, here's the end of Psy's international breakout. Doubt anybody wants to invite him to shows overseas already. He should just stay in Korea and focus on creating music that appeals to his Korean fans. He has earned enough anw.

  8. He was promoting in Europe lately.

  9. have a good rest PSY

  10. I kinda feel like he was a 1 hit wonder still. Gentleman may have gotten video views but it wasn't an outbreak hit like GS. I'm kinda glad it's over. He's gonna be on vh1 later on in a few years.

  11. "Even the BBC was calling it trash"

"Even" the BBC? What's that supposed to mean?

    ReplyDelete
  12. I didn't see him on korean tv at all, did he promote at least once or absolutely not?

    ReplyDelete
  13. He was hosting on the VMAs yesterday and everyone kept saying they didn't understand shit he said.
    awkward.

Gentleman was a great song but Gangnam Style was legend..

  16. really? did he do anything except the performance in Italy? because I haven't heard anything.

    ReplyDelete
  17. They don't mean block b fans. They mean BBC the public broadcasting place.

    ReplyDelete
  18. He was promoting that song?!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Psy stop trying too hard please.

    ReplyDelete
  20. He was in the UK, Germany, Italy for sure. I remember articles about German top models show, and also he was with various British celebrities at an event. Dunno about other countries though.

  21. I live in Europe but I haven't even heard his song on the radio yet...none of my friends even know about it...I think no one cared.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Psy was truly a one hit wonder outside of Korea.
I only heard about Gentle the week it was released and that was it unless I saw news on him on allkpop or netizenbuzz
    At least he got far!

  23. Gentleman was a terrible song. I think people would have heaping praise on him if the song was even half as good as GS. But instead he releases a trash song that seems to be focused grouped to hell.

    ReplyDelete
  24. are u serious? both songs suck.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Even though Gentleman was nowhere close to being as great as Gangnam style i still think he did well for himself

    ReplyDelete
  26. He was on GNTM? O.o I watch that show whenever I'm bored, I can't believe I missed it...or maybe it was another 2nd class show...

    ReplyDelete
  27. the only reason it was even a blip on the radar is because people wanted to see what the follow up would be. after a week or two no one cared

    ReplyDelete
  28. thanks for the info!

    ReplyDelete
  29. gentleman was crap, i'm still surprised it didn't flop more than it did

    ReplyDelete
  30. i don't know why anybody would make that mistake...Block b literally had nothing to do with this, lol

    ReplyDelete
  31. why do people lack brains in this comment section you people are obviously not fans of Psy so of course you won't know if he was still promoting or not...

    ReplyDelete
  32. PSY, GS wee laughing stock outside Kpop world.

    ReplyDelete
  33. . [+23, -3] YG's autotune is ruining Psy

?? pretty sure the making of both songs were all psy's doing not YG's

    ReplyDelete
  34. gs was at least fun but it's nowhere near legend

    ReplyDelete
  35. isn't the point of promotion so people outside of your fandom discover your music?

    ReplyDelete
  36. "[+305, -67] Psy needs to focus on his own music style instead of trying

    the conclusion:
    Gangnam Style
    a random burst of fate
    cheap music

  37. Um, I know. I'm asking why the BBC are being referred to like some sort of trashy news source with a bad reputation.

    ReplyDelete
  38. a lot of us are kpop fans and frequent kpop news sites but i don't remebmber reading anything about psy since the mv release except when it hit 1549415 views and when gain was whining because of the fishcake scene

    ReplyDelete
  39. They over produced and over thought the song... what did people expect.

    ReplyDelete
  40. i think gentleman did great with all the pressure on him , but now i think he should just go back to korea and do his usual style of music , and who knows..we might get another hit

    ReplyDelete
  41. i dont think that's what they meant. more like, even someone as serious as bbc didnt have anything nice to say about it

    ReplyDelete
  42. Then you obviously missed all the NB articles about Psy maybe you should go through the archives

    ReplyDelete
  43. I think it's because bbc was in love with him during gangnam style. So for them to call it trash was a big slap in the face

    ReplyDelete
  44. i forgot to mention the mv controversy articles, my deepest apologies

    ReplyDelete
  45. my brother and cousins who don't know shit about kpop love gentleman and the song is on the radio, i think it's pretty popular in my country but not as much as GS

    ReplyDelete
  46. Just because people on this little gossip site have no idea what Psy is up to even though NB has posted various articles about it that does not mean other people outside of this gossip site don't know

    ReplyDelete
  47. Ikr. When some said PSY is successful because of YG, they fired back praising psy did it himself. He did the song sincerely whatsoever.. Now that all this crap came up, they blame YG for the song.

Knets are too hard to please. Srsly.

  48. Go back to Korea and WIN ALL MUSIC SHOW AWARDS already. Sick of other groups claiming the no. 1 spot.
