ReplyDeleteWhile Suzy's popular right now, her whirlwind of fame is already forming cracks because people are now openly criticizing her weaknesses (both professionally and on a personable level, like her tendency to say air-headed things). Before, there was always only praise, but this shift to public skepticism is proof that she will not be able to hold onto her top spot for any extended amount of time unless she finds some talent to cement her public approval.
ReplyDeleteHOWEVER, I do agree that a lot of people who typically bash articles on Suzy also don't fight to change the favoritist system in how the entertainment industry works. For example, you see tons of people coming to Suzy's article to complain about Yewon's loss, but I doubt that same number of people would comment on a Yewon article to praise her. Basically, while they're able to point out the injustice of Suzy's win over Yewon, they don't validate Yewon's accomplishments by showing her support... which only leads to a drop in relevance for any artist and an inability to be recognized by the industry itself. No wonder more talented artists are losing to less talented ones.
I think it's the obvious popularity divide between Suzy and a member of a lesser-known group these days, Jewelry. It's like while people can acknowledge Yewon's talents when compared to another person, they can't acknowledge her socially like they can a prominent figure like Suzy. It's definitely in the power of the fans to change how awards are given by giving the right people the right attention, and not only paying attention when you happen not to agree.
