ReplyDeleteJYP's Korea branch isn't in that bad of shape financially tbh...His american ventures on the other hand are a different story. I don't know how well his restaurant is doing, but diamond tears is actually selling well and his company is still making money just from other things . His artists are bringing in the money, but because they apparently split it 50-50, JYPE doesn't get to keep as much as they make

But in terms of their rookies and popularity level, JJ project isn't really doing well (don't diss, I'm cool with JR and JB. Even before JJ project, a rookie girl group debuted under JYP called April Kiss which was a major flop. You can barely even find their debut track/mv on YouTube. That's how much they fail in marketing these days. Jyp even wasted his money on his movie which are the ratings re low. The WG nickelodeon movie wasn't that good too. :/

ReplyDeleteThat i will also agree on Ty are still brining in a good source of income, still not as huge this year as YG or SM, but they are not struggling for cash. The marketing team needs to step it up, in JYPE and their sub labels as well. I don't know what happened to that team, but their work was very half-assed and sloppy this year. They need to find a better way to promote their artists. Maybe the marketing groups need to take some classes to help refresh their memory on how to properly promote and market each artist.
ReplyDeleteBaek Ah yeon's debut wasn't that bad really and 15& are starting to gain fans through this cover project they are doing. So i don't know what the hell they are thinking or doing with JJP, which sucks cause they are pretty talented IMO.
Music wise, it's really about certain people's taste when it comes to JYP..it appeals to some, and doesn't appeal to others, but it's really almost a 50-50 blame thing for most of the artists
I don't think April Kiss was a part of JYP though, from my understanding it was another company that was building them up to be the next 2pm and failed to do so. Was that company associated with JYP or his affiliates?
2pm still made great money this year, and they are still pretty popular though. They were able to keep and gain over 22 cfs, most in korea alone this year even without a comeback. They just were unable to comeback this year and decided to shift the rest of the year to japan and their tour. They still made JYP a great amount of moeny with their japanese promotions and they are the one group so far that can still sell a records pretty well, not BB or SJ well, but they still do it well. Therefore, that is why 2pm, then Suzy is JYP's top money makers.

Sponsors are basically like sugar daddies for female celebrities; in exchange for going on dates and sex, these men will pull strings to further that girl's career. Once in a while, there will be a male rookie celebrity who will sleep with a rich, well-connected woman for the same reasons.

ReplyDeleteAbout the Wonder Girls movie: From what I read it didn't have low ratings. The movie aired on Teen Nick (which is a private channel I think), so the audience is in general limited. But when the movie aired the viewers didn't drop, but remained constant and were on par with the other shows airing on Teen Nick. So it wasn't all that bad.
