I'm facepalming at some of the comments on here. Korea is not the only country that holds actors on a high pedestal. Movie stars have always been seen as a more glamorous profession than other entertainment jobs. Korean Idols are the equivalent of disney/nickelodeon stars in the United States. They're viewed as teen stars who are popular because of their face/personality which is why most idols don't have long careers.

You could never be a TV star and a movie star at the same time like you can now. Musicians are revered but it big name actors that are always seen as the elite in the industry. Movie Stars are the highest on the the totem pole going back to old Hollywood because they were the stars that were the least accessible. You see them on the big screen but other than that most people have very little access to them. You can go see your favorite music artists in concerts and actually get to see what they look like in the flesh. Harder to do with big name actors. Plus star actors get paid so much more than music stars which also lends to their top tier status in the entertainment industry.

ReplyDeleteactually, we can say, Won Bin is -one of korean- actors who has started k-wave all over asia and europe. He is the first (and maybe the only one up untill now) korean man who got first place and also received the most votes for title Most Beautiful Man in april 2002 (it's an international votes).
ReplyDeleteHe's the first actor who starred in friends which is the first time in drama history that two countries -South Korea and Japan- collaborated to co-produce the show. He acted only in five movie for almost 10 years, but all of his five movies are box office. Japanese media dubbed him as one of hallyu kings.
With that huge popularity, he's still humble in real life. You won't find any scandal or negative issues related to him. He even chosen as unicef goodwill ambassador.
So, with that big impact he brought to korean entertaiment industry, I think that's why he considered so godly in Korea.
Same for me... I can't accept Sooyoung for Won Bin. He deserves much better.

And also he gained huge amount of male fans after movie "Ahjussi : Man from Nowhere".. And to be frankly Sooyoung isn't very typical favorite look in Korean standard beauty for normal people(not Sone).. She's always on lower side on popularity or ideal type ranking inside of SNSD... As a Korean guy who sees lot of comments from many famous community site for guys, they all have same opinion that Sooyoung is out of his league(that's how you say in English.. right?).... You know..
