Article: 'Nation's First Love' Suzy is at risk of losing her innocent image

Another editorial by the same outlet that named her the sole breadwinner for JYP Entertainment now talking about how she basically shot herself in the foot by being dumb during her guesting on the 'Go Show', where she revealed she did not study at all and just slept every day in school.
The article also touches on how the extreme spotlight on her has basically erased the rest of the miss A members from the public, which is probably why their comeback isn't doing so well.
The editorial lists a bunch of examples where she essentially shot herself in the foot with stupid things she's said that is gradually making her lose favor with netizens, such as not knowing basic high school knowledge on 'Running Man', yelling at host Kim Yong Man on '1 Billion Quiz Show', and finally her school career, or lack thereof, on the 'Go Show'.

ReplyDeleteSuzy's somewhat popularity reminds me of uee. At one time uee was like this too, she was EVERYWHERE. But that doesn't really last that long either. Suzy is gonna be like her, I think. She's at the height of her popularity right now, but it will die down soon. Still going to be the member with the best income tho, and probably ended up in another drama as well, just like uee.

Because school in Korea is serious thing. Teens even run from home, because they cannot handle the pressure from their parents/school. All country studying it's ass off and one stupid girl flaunting on TV just because she got lucky ticket and became an idol. Also extreme spotlight like those article about Suzy every single day - media tried to create positive image of her, but got quite the opposite reaction.

And as for those saying she's talentless. Maybe in acting she's not the best, but at least she shows improvement. In singing she's pretty strong and in modeling it's hard for her to look bad. Just because you dislike her overexposure, it doesn't mean she lacks talent

Suzy was pushed too hard. JYPE found another Nichkhun but even better because she could sing and act. But then the group struggled and Suzy was pushed forward even more and the media play became outrageous. Now there's a backlash. :\

ReplyDeleteThere's a difference between being not good at school and just being lazy/not studying hard. Her comments point towards the latter, instead of the former. Add that to the fact that Korea's education system is really strict and you have to practically kill yourself studying hard just to get into college (and even then they might not accept you!) and get a decent job, and she just kind of passed through much of her life being lazy and is doing better than a lot of these students that studied their behinds off to get a fraction of her success. It's like she just crapped on the average students' hard work ethic and I think a lot of the criticism (not hate!) is justified.

It's bound to happen, people are gonna get tired of hearing or seeing her after sometime OR she's gonna do or say something that would alienate some fans and in this case both did happened. I get it, she's popular but JYP should have pace her. It feels as if she's been everywhere, everyday, 5x a day, since March (Intro2Archi). Take for example Kim Soo Hyun or IU, they became really popular due to a drama or song, but they or the company choose wisely not to over-expose them. Let the public miss you for awhile, but not too long, of course!

Now if Suzy was being lazy and getting into college then I would understand all the hate, but she herself refused to go to college and her reasons are obvious, she doesn't seem interested in studies. Not everyone is made for studies, and just because most koreans take college seriously doesn't mean everyone needs to force themselves and study if they can do something else better.

Doesn't matter that she isn't going to college. Understand that Korea's culture pretty much revolves around a strong work ethic that can almost be considered over the top and obsessive. The fact that she just slept through high school and became successful mostly because of her looks goes against everything that their culture stands for, which is something along the lines of hard work = success. Whether she's going to college or not isn't the point. Even if school isn't for everyone, the least she could've done is try her best but she didn't even do that.
