JYJ’s Junsu talks about the end of their legal battle with SM Entertainment

Article: Kim Junsu "Lawsuit settlement with SM, I'm surprised as well... I hope it becomes a foundation for my juniors"

Source: OSEN via Nate [allkpop article here]

1. [+737, -97] Seeing as how SM did edit the contracts for the rest of their artists after JYJ followed that lawsuit, there must've been something wrong with them. JYJ just took charge for it.

2. [+597, -93] To all of the SM lovers... Why are you so proud of a company that contracts you for 14 years and takes all of your money? So what if JYJ bought foreign cars? That's not the problem, the problem is that there wasn't a clear distribution of income. The problem is that the company was stealing their money.

3. [+566, -86] I honestly think a lot of juniors will be glad for them. Now all I need is to hear their voices on public broadcast... I didn't care about them when they were five but you gotta admit that Junsu's awesome.. ㅋㅋ

Article: JYJ Junsu "The title of TVXQ will always remain in my heart"

Source: TV Daily via Nate

1. [+273, -33] I looked up his songs after finding out that he won the best male award for his musical and he was really good. How're people like me supposed to know unless they come out on TV?

2. [+234, -28] Do well on your concert~~ I trust that more great things will be happening!!!

3. [+191, -116] TVXQ was the best when they were five... Their stages feel so empty now that they're separate... I'd love it if they came out on TV later like g.o.d. saying they reunited ㅋㅋㅋ

Article: Kim Junsu "I'd be really happy if I could stand on stage as TVXQ someday"

Source: SBS E! via Nate

1. [+572, -70] Wherever you are, I'll always be supporting you. Kim Junsu fighting!

2. [+594, -192] People keep saying that TVXQ was legendary, but don't they realize that they could only be legends because of the three JYJ members? The true TVXQ is not the current TVXQ but the old TVXQ including the JYJ members. The reason that couldn't be protected was because of SM. Please leave the past in the past and go our separate ways now. Kim Junsu fighting! JYJ fighting!

3. [+438, -72] JYJ, thank you for walking the path of justice!!! We'll always be with you until the end. Do well at your Germany concert, daebak!! I believe in you because you are Kim Jaejoong, Park Yoochun, Kim Junsu!!! In the end, it's JYJ!!!

  2. too true how the current tvxq stages are empty. it's too bad things had to happen this way. but they were overworked and not compensated for so it was brave of jyj to step up about it.

  3. Love them or hate them, gotta give them credit for the positive contractual changes that were made in the industry after they spoke up. Whatever their motivations were, their actions have benefited all and future idols.

  4. I don't really care about the whole 'past TVXQ was better than the present TVXQ' because it's just opinions and I don't really care either way (was neve a big fan of TVXQ), but I do agree that there were contract changes made because of the problems that JYJ brought to light with this lawsuit so I don't really understand those who hate them.

Personally, seeing that recent changes have been made to all artists' contracts that give more rights to the artists themselves, I'm thankful to JYJ for possibly helping make my bias' life a little better and a little more fair.

I think everybody deserves to get paid for the work they do. Even if you make enough for a comfortable life, if you're not making what you actually should be earning then it's not fair.

  5. The comment are so obviously written by fans. I don't get this feeling in most of the other artists articles...

Anyway, it's good to see them walk through their own path, same with tvxq, the whole x is nothing without y and x is better than y business is childish, hopefully now people will move on...

  6. look at the positive dumps and you will get that feeling from all the articles.
Most of the non-positive dump related articles are usually negative comments so ofc they wouldn't be written by fans.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Oh wait...you're a HoMin stan. LOL nevermind then. Of course you're going to break out the 'this is only fans' crap.

    ReplyDelete
  8. this guy needs to stop trying to use tvxq name to regain popularity. its starting to get pathetic lol

    1. Haha...what a joke..trying to use tvxq's name?they were apart of tvxq once..btw...tvxq is the name for 5 of them..but homin is the one who took it..im sure jyj will brought justice to the name if they take the tvxq name rather than homin..

  9. just like you commenting in every JYJ article is starting to get pathetic?

  10. I doubt that JYJ's intention when initially filing their lawsuit was to make positive changes in artists' contracts of the future, but it was nonetheless the result of it (and for that I'm mildly grateful).

I admit though that I am saddened by the fact that they felt SM was stealing their money and taking away their rights more than having realized what the lawsuit might do to the other 2 members. I understand a business is a business, but I think everyone would not hesitate for one second to note just how incredibly close the 5 of them were.

It sucks that it came out to be a business decision, but 'tis life. Like Junsu, I do hope to see the complete TVXQ on stage at least one more time in their lifetimes.

  11. it's my opinion, never said you had to agree?
look at you passing judgement , have you ever seen me anywhere bash junsu? no because i never did. the world isn't divided in homin stan vs jyj stan categories *sigh*

    ReplyDelete
  12. agree the reason why TVXQ is strong because of JYJ
    no question about that
but it will be more awesome as 5

    ReplyDelete
  13. The reason why they filed the lawsuit in the first place was BECAUSE of their contracts. Up until that point, all SM artists were under similar contracts. Look at Hangeng. The stipulations of his contract were eerily similar to the contracts that JYJ (and probably Changmin and Yunho) signed, and HE was in a totally different group that debuted later.

Remember that Junsu and Eunhyuk grew up together and that they were and still are very close friends. Knowing all the things that were fucked up about Hangeng's contract and JYJ's contracts... it stands to reason that other SM artists had to suffer the same way.

Whatever PERSONAL, undisclosed reasons JYJ had for filing the lawsuit, don't automatically assume it WASN'T for the good of their hoobaes. Don't underestimate the friendships they built as trainees (and later as idols) under SM. It's so disrespectful.

    ReplyDelete
  14. He doesn't need to used the name "TVXQ" to gain popularity. He was the main voice of TVXQ when they were a quintet and he's STILL recognized as a very talented singer under his own name and the name of JYJ.

    Get over it.

  15. Lots of people are actually really surprised that so many Koreans support Junsu, especially because among international fans there's a lot of people who think that JYJ is evil or that DBSK is evil or whatever.

The truth is that the real "evil" in this entire fucked up situation is SM Entertainment for creating those contracts with those specific stipulations in the first place. What company thinks it's okay to make teenagers sign away 14+ years of their life? What company thinks it's okay to make these kids, who are barely adults, to work around the clock, every day, with barely any breaks... and then have the gall to hang the THREAT of being "fined" when they don't comply with their unreasonable demands?

JYJ's lawsuit changed that for SM's artists. Until then, those contracts were FUCKED UP and I'm glad their fight forced SM to change their fucked up ways.

When you look back at other SM idols of the past... H.O.T, Shinhwa, BoA, SES, Fly to the Sky... Compare how busy they were to the idols now. There is a vast difference in the way they are treated, and thank god for that.

  16. lol again with the foreign cars....

  17. @Anonymoose this guy you talked about was the main vocal of TVXQ. The best musical actor and even those experts agree that he has the best vocal among male idols.

It's saddening that they can't get back together as 5, they were the one who make them like now. But as fans, We should support them no matter what happen.

  19. It's not a judgement. It's a very easy process called 'clicking on your name and looking at your past comments'

Besides this article, the only articles you have ever commented are are HoMin ones. So it's a pretty logical conclusion to come to.

    ReplyDelete
  20. And even with the 'vast difference' H.O.T had members that left and both Shinhwa and Fly to the Sky left as well.

  21. so? seeying my comments in homin article you automatically judged me a jyj hater didn't you? i'm a tvxq fan and have been for 7 years now, just because i comment in homin posts doesn't mean i hate jyj or bash them, i never did. although i favor tvxq, I have nothing against jyj, i usually don't comment on their articles since "some" people always use them as an opportunity to bash homin and i don't like seeying all that hate, or getting into stupid internet arguments, it's hard enough to avoid those comments in homins articles as it is...

    ReplyDelete
  22. why act like this. its a visa verse situation. u claim to have been a fan for 7 years but have supposedly seen only homin get bashed. luv it happens to jyj too so i dont get ur point. and even if the fans have written these comments i am sure that the 700+ were not only fans since the articles also got -.

    ReplyDelete
  23. international fans still dont get that jyj were the backbone of tvxq and now that they r not well just look at why the current tvxq r never in korea but 98% in japan that jyj r not allowed to be active in.

  24. Sigh it's so hard to be an Cassie...

  26. i read when they started the lawsuit (that was when i was in korea studying), they actually want to make a new TVXQ group that ONLY consist these three members. This really strip my respect for them JYJ. How could they do that to the two other members?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Anyone who feels the need to bring down a group to make another group look better comes off as pathetic and insecure...I guess their stans will never learn.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Sorry Junsu, but the more you comment about this issue, the more I think you're a pathetic loser. Maybe take a leaf out of your Jaejoong hyung's book and just don't talk about this?

    ReplyDelete
  29. w.o.w
Way to just be making crap up.

  30. The fan comments were so sweet. Personally, I always loved Junsu's frankness.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Pretty much agree with the netizens on this one

    ReplyDelete
  32. Again, read my sentence.

Do you honestly believe that JYJ was under the motivation to right the wrongs of the contracts' of their HOOBAES and thus had filed the lawsuit?

Or do you think it was because they think THEIR contracts were too unfair that they couldn't stand being stripped of their hard-earned money anymore.

Like I said, I'm grateful because SM did change their contracts, but I doubt that Junsu was thinking of Eunhyuk (his childhood best friend) when he turned in his lawsuit... I mean, did he think about Homin? Yeah, I doubt that either.

    ReplyDelete
  33. The fact of life is that when making career and life decisions people don't think of their friends. In the future, if they had money problems....their friends from the same group would be having those same problems. In life you cannot rely on your friends only, and have to support yourself. Also, one day they will all have their own families to support....and where the hell would that money come from? Will they lend money to each other or something =___= In an ideal world, you always stay by your friends sides, but when you are at a crossroads you have to make the best decision for your own career and financial future.

DBSK5 were at this crossroad....and EACH side made decisions on what they thought would benefit them the most in the future.

One side knew from SME's past history, that SME could not be relied on....when they got older....they could be kicked to the curb like their seniors in replacement of their juniors. This was most evident when Shinee was being called the 'new DBSK' in SME press releases when they were going to debut. This side was also very ambitious and SME wasn't meeting their needs.

On the other hand, the other side chose to trust SME, and was grateful for what they already had. For them staying was the most profitable choice at the time, and so that is the choice they made to support their future.

Not all groups can be like Shinhwa...who had a semi-wealthy leader who helped the group members out in bad times, and even bought the name from SME. But, Shinhwa tbh is the most complete and best idol group. That is why they are respected by so many.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Where is this article? The only pieces of crap I ever read that even alluded to that were on anti-fan forum posts—which at least tripled when the lawsuit happened.

No one in JYJ or their legal team ever released a statement saying that. I've been a fan of TVXQ since they debuted when I was 11. SHOW ME THIS ARTICLE, if it even exists.

  35. sigh

"Anyone who feels the need to bring down a group to make another group look better comes off as pathetic and insecure"
This is what SM has done on cjes for 3.4 years. And no sign to stop.
pls check SM statement on 28-Nov. They throw stones again .

That is why SM JP so worry about.

and yet, since the day-1 they never use the name nor singing old dbsk songs in concerts.. Try harder!!!

  41. what to bring down??

they are good on 'keeping their head down' since they comeback as two and screaming all over the place

    ReplyDelete
  42. Babe. As far as I know (and I do know about JYJ situation very well). Initially ALL of them yes ALL meaning 5 of them wanted to file a lawsuit against SM, wanting to end their contracts BUT for some reason Changmin & Yunho dropped out.
They left SM with the thought that they may never be able to sing on stage. They left SM wanting to find a better life, a happier life than they were having. They left SM for their mental & physical well being. They were basically been treated like their not humans, constant overseas flight, non stop activities & worked nearly 365 days a year/ 366 in leap years.
They have never used the name DBSK because that's a name they (JYJ) believed was used only when they are 5. They had legal rights to use the name, SM could not register the name DONG BANG SHINKI, why you ask well, "under Article 7.1.6 of Korea’s trademark law it is not permissible to register a trademark for names related to famous people, and it was on this basis that [SM’s] application was denied." - By Jeon Sojeong, patent lawyer, IP&company

  43. The articles are differ so much one and another, but whatever it is, Junsu being a grateful person who doesn't forget about history that make him the way he is now, that's it ^^

  54. No, it was JYJ in the wrong. They took away Yunho's hard work in just a second with their greed and wanting to start a cosmetics company. To be honest, DBSK's contract was fair. SM lost profits by letting them have 70% of promotional gain. Everything thinks that JYJ split from SM because of the unfair contract, nope, it was because they wanted fame in Japan and make millions off a shady cosmetics company. The contract was in no way FUCKED UP. You were most likely reading the wrong bias JYJ translations with no real evidence or proof. http://truetvxq.blogspot.com/p/roadmap-to-truth.html
