What's the buzz on Big Bang's Seungri?

As expected, most of the top posts on entertainment portals are concerning Big Bang's Seungri. Just like with T-ara, he's being picked on for a lot of things that have nothing to do with the scandal itself.

Here are a few posts that show what's being talked about online.

-

This Nate Pann post includes a few screencaps of Seungri getting down on the floor to greet a popular Japanese actress named Takei Emi during his reporter stint on Sakigake Ongaku Banzuke. While this may not seem like a big deal, I'm pretty sure we all know what Korean/Japanese sentiments are like so k-netizens took great offense to it (especially since emotions are at an all time high with the issue of Dokdo Island). While many agree that he's just doing his job, they also agree that he went a bit far with it and that a 'floored greeting' was not necessary.

1. [+29, -2] Was it absolutely necessary for him to put his head to the floor and bow to her in such a manner? I pray that people don't think that he did it just to be funny (it wasn't even a necessary part of the show). Do people not know what the sentiments are like between Korea and Japan right?

YG, do you not monitor these things?... It won't be long before Big Bang becomes the second Supernova.

< A list of disrespectful things Seungri has said in Japan >

a. He said he respected AKB48 at an event (Really? "respect"?)

b. To Oguri Shun, he said that he wanted to change his name to Oguri Seung

c. He told EXILE that Korean dancers look up to them and that they practice their dancing while watching their videos

d. He told everyone on a Japanese variety show that all Korean men wear insoles.

2. [+19, -1] The other members of Big Bang don't go that far, so why is he acting like that? It's really hard to like him

-

The next Nate Pann post is a male K-Pop fan that decided to share his two cents while watching over the Seungri scandal. It received a lot of agreement from both fans and non-fans alike.

"Through this scandal, I've learned how to differentiate between fans and dumb fangirls. Despite none of us knowing whether it could or could not be Seungri in the pictures, it is because of all of his dumb fangirls that everyone who would not have otherwise found out now know. They act like they're trying to protect Seungri, but they don't know that what they're doing right now is just making it harder for him to recover.

They can try to hide and shield everything all they want now, but what are they going to do when it is later confirmed that it was indeed Seungri? Because of all of the sh*t they laid out, Seungri is going to be hated on for that much more. You fans are seriously no different from Friday.

Arguing over a few unidentified pictures and all of you blindly and aggressively pushing for your side being right is only making it harder for Seungri. If you're a true fan that loves him, you need to stay quiet.

And to all of those brainless fans that are saying it doesn't matter if an adult male has a one night with a female... Is Seungri some nobody? He's someone that has the power to influence the youth. People follow everything idols do lately, and because of you dumb fangirls, they're going to grow up thinking that when everyone grows up, everyone has one night stands like the norm.

And finally to everyone saying this is a conspiracy created by the government.. Why the hell would the Japanese government release something like this to cover something in the Korean government? You guys are so frustrating..

I wanted to stay quiet and just watch over the issue but you guys keep bit*hing and bit*hing."

1. [+19, -2] His fangirls are also photoshopping their own pictures using other similar pictures and spreading it as if it's the true. YG then picked that up and released articles worded as if Friday had photoshopped them on purpose... Both sides are absolutely ridiculous. Do they not see how far T-ara has dropped because of Kwang Soo? Big Bang will be outcast because of their dumb fangirls and their company. They don't know where the limit is and think that if they close their eyes and pretend it doesn't exist, it doesn't... Little do they know, the end is just as bitter, as exemplified by T-ara and Kwang Soo.

-

This last Nate Pann post is a netizen denouncing rumors of Seungri's photos being photoshopped by Friday and claiming that Big Bang fans had photoshopped it themselves. The pictures used for the actual photoshop work are Nishikido Ryo, and the netizen goes on to claim that it would not be in the best interest of Friday to not only release a piece of photoshopped work (they could be sued), but to also use Nishikido Ryo's face for it, since he's so well known and had a scandal of his own under Friday previously.

1. [+76, -10] VIPs, please stop the shield work since nothing's been decided. That will not help anything. Please, I beg you.

2. [+72, -85] (TN: blatant hate post on Big Bang)

3. [+69, -3] I think that VIPs are young and don't understand the gravity of the situation yet. Yes, having sex is a natural act, but it was wrong of Seungri to have a one night stand with someone he doesn't love just to release his sexual frustrations, especially as someone with status to the youth. I know that you want to shield him, and that it pains you to see all of these hateful things about him, but do you think your shields will help the situation? Not at all. It will actually hurt him more. Just trust in him and wait without saying anything. Just wait, please.

  1. I have my respect for the fan who voiced his opinion at the end. This is time for the fans to be more mature in the way they handle some problems/scandal. Although being judgmental itself is not a good thing, but it's also the same for shielding something that is wrong. It's true after all that idols are role models for some people. Quoting the infamous spiderman's quote, "with great power comes great responsibility" ;D
However, if it is true that wrong deed has been done, the fans should also realize that no human is perfect. It would be nice if fans/netizens also have the heart to forgive and give some time for the idols at fault to reflect. Sigh, this is a very touchy subject indeed....

  2. man I agree about VIPs they are either taking this lightly and making it seem like its nothing or their crazily defending him, they need to calm the hell down.
what Seungri did is not something to be taken lightly.

    2. 2 main reason; 1. Seungri is a public figure. 2. One night stands are NOT the norm, especially so in Asian society. And it has always been frowned upon.
Western romantic-comedy movies always include one night stands which is sad because youths think that it is the norm now. Maybe it is the norm for Western countries, but definitely not for Asian society.
Again, it's the issue about the difference between Western & Asian society. Just like the latest " provocative dancing of Secret " . I suggest I-fans should not judge issues using their culture standards but look into the Asian perspective.

  7. im a BB fan and even if everyone is saying "VIP are trying to shield VI" i dont even feel the need to "shield him" or wait for an "official statement" from YG because theres nothing wrong with having sex O__o Im on the abstinence side but if other people want to have sex its their life... its not like he forced her, theresnothing illegal there since shes a person with mental illness or shes a minor...

  8. I'm not saying it's right but one-night stands do happen in real life. Ordinary people do it not just celebrities. I'm just irritated with these righteous people who comments as if fans only knew about one-night stands because of this Seungri scandal,so they'll gonna imitate him because he's their idol/role model. So dumb!

  9. The gravity of this scandal and T-ara's is way too big but the morality and politeness what should have been on t-ara's article is here!! No offense to Seungri, he is on to ladies and sex which is natural for a man.. YG family special ep 124 on Strong Heart, his fellow group members said themselves. What I find funny is vulgar words like dick, pervert, immoral etc are not on the top comments while this scandal is about sex but T-ara's articles were full of bitches, sex machines, sluts and so on when the article was about CB and so called bullying... Dick and abs sure sells well in Korea!! I just hope his company would manage this issue properly not like someone...

  10. But people tell me that having a scandal whether its sex, dating ect in Japan it means that they doing well in Japan, since seungri now focusing in Japan market. Maybe it's not a big deal in Japan, but in Korea?! Hmm...

  11. Fucking bitches...so he can't say he respect AKB48 now? That pissed me off as a Kpop and Jpop fan.
Those girls started out from an audience of only 7 people in a 256 seats theater, they passed out flyers at night on the street to promote themselves and most of the time, people threw it in the trash in front of them. At the time, they were freaking 14, 15 yrs old kids. The girls collapsed from heat wave at Seibu Dome in 2011, can barely breath backstage, carried out on stretchers but still came back on stage and forced a smile for their fans. They donated over 15 million USD to help out tsunami victims, continue to visited the areas every month since the disaster, over 15 trips now, even on Christmas to pass out free presents for little kids at school and donated 30 buses to help their transportation. BTW they also have songs about suicide caused by bullies like Keibetsu (which probably can relate to you netizens..) or empowering songs like Beginner and River and over 400 songs, include one that dedicate to tsunami victims, Kaze wa Fuiteiru. I doubt any of these netizens know shit about AKB before they talk.

THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH RESPECTING HARDWORKING PEOPLE THAT HELPED OUT PEOPLE IN NEED WHEN YOU BITCHES DONE NOTHING BUT WROTE SHITTY COMMENTS ONLINE ABOUT PEOPLE.

Ok. Rant over...sorry I'm an AKB48 fan as well as a Kpop fan so that pissed the hell out of me.:P

Anyway the whole Seungri scandal is w/e Like the man have sex. The problem i guess for them was he have kinky freaky rough sex and it was a one night stand, which was why the fans got defensive....:|

This was plain hilarious! I love Seungri and I don't take offense to the whole Korean Jap thing at all -.- While Korean myself, I find these things really petty.

  13. ^ The thing is what he said on Japanese shows are actually not true. Exile? Who are they? I'm Korean living in Korea. I've only seen like one or two jpop fans my entire life. It's not because it's Japan. Koreans are not crazy about idols or kpop thus international music is not popular here. There are fans of course. Though a lot of people in Korea don't listen to foreign music, you will hear kpop idols saying they respect so-and-so American singers who they think are cool. But Seungri respects AKB48? Seriously? I know them because one of the ex members of the group is a P ORN star (wait they have something in common!) He respects them? Obviously that is just him sucking up to the japanese stars. He's a member of one of the most popular Korean idol groups. Did he really have to say he respects some laughable group? It is sensitive because of all those issues between Korea and Japan but the reason netizens are angry is because he's lying. The viewers in Japan will believe his lies and have misunderstandings about Korea.

lol as for the one night stand thing, i don't share the same sentiments as knetizens so i'm just laughing. wow, maybe they should try it out so they aren't so bitter and relentless all the time.

I don't know whats worse, worshiping a a 30year old virgin oppa who is a wanker since thats all he's allowed to do, or someone who goes to prostitutes.

If they had no stupid dating bann then idols could have relationships like normal people.

Yes it's true that ONE ex-member went that way but the thing is so did her sister and she have no relation to AKB. I'm pretty sure in that case, the family influence is the problem, not AKB. Beside the girl was a member when AKB were nobodies. It still doesn't change that as a group, the members themselves are amazing girls.
Masuda Yuka has cancer when she was 2, Iwata Karen lost her home to the disaster. Akimoto Sayaka has spoke out and say that homosexual and bisexual should be proud of themselves. Maeda Atsuko said at the election that it's fine if people hate her, just don't hate AKB because of her. To say something like that took courage, do they sound like a bad group of girls?

The group as whole has still done so many things to help out kids in tsunami affected areas as well as amazing hardworking girls.
That's why disrespectful as fuck to think it's insulting Seungri might respect them? Like OMG SEUNGRI RESPECT NICE, HARDWORKING GIRLS?!! THAT BITCH!!

Get it? That's why I'm annoyed since I doubt those people actually went through 1/10 of the shit AKB went through or even bother to know them. Also there's nothing wrong with Seungri complementing Japanese artists considering the countries relationship.

What are you talking about? The member who became AV actress isn't in AKB anymore, and this is an old story already, she choosed this path by herself AFTER leaving the group and it has nothing to do with the group. So if Big Bang disbands and in 10 years one of them does adult movies, will you say that other Big Bang members deserve no respect? How is it even related? The current AKB members never had any scandal like this, they don't even have scandals that are close to this or even to dating. So how they don't deserve respect? lol...

Because they're a JPOP girl group? Big Bang is a KPOP boy group and are respected even with their scandals with the CURRENT members (unlike AKB where only ONE member did something bad AFTER leaving the group, not even comparable). So Big Bang, with current members who had scandals, deserve respect, but AKB doesn't? even though all their members did absolutely nothing wrong? Be fair.

They are good girls, hardworking and deserve respect... Korean netizens are just MAD because Seungri praised japanese idols. Because it's OK when AKB and other japanese idols praise KPOP, but the other way doesn't work? lol. Korean pride sucks. Korean netizens need to sit and shut up for once.

BTW I don't care about Seungri scandal at all. But the part about how it's "disrespectful" to praise AKB and EXILE... Korean netizens are the ones being disrespectful, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 12 months a year. They never stop.

and I like how they use Ryo pic to prove their point. Trying to make problems for japanese idols, again. Not to mention GD who said he smoked weed in JAPAN what a coincidence lol. Big Bang & korean netizens, always trying to put the blame on Japan and keep Korea clean, tsss.

  37. Hypocrites all over the place. One night stand is moral loose, so what about watching porn, or even make yourself a collection of porn movies (which could be considered an illegal act by my country's laws) that openly joked around on Korean variety shows that I saw? What about the ads with porn-like that pop up everytime I open a Korean news site? He's an idol so he cant date properly, and bcuz he's an idol, he cant have one night stand either? Why you dont emasculate all of your male idols to prevent this thing happen already?

And for some of you trying to show your respects to Asian culture by claiming one night stand a taboo, I should tell that you dont have a full grasp of Asian culture to make that statement. I'm an Asian who is living in a more reserved country than Korea. There's always an uneasy feeling when it comes to premarital sex, but it's hypocrite if you talk bad abt it bcuz everybody knows it happens all the time and there's a high chance that your acquaintances did it. We do not encourage premarital sex, but it's not a reason to look on anybody who did it. Accepting it, because we're all human, not saints.
