How hard did SM attempt to cast Minji before her debut with New Jeans?

SM has been riding on the old coattails of TVXQ, SNSD, and EXO's glory days for a while now...

Ever since Min Hee Jin left SM, SM has been trapped in Gwangya... Karina and Winter give hope that SM might still have it but SM's already losing financially compared to Hybe. It was always the better choice to follow Min Hee Jin, even if it's under a Hybe subsidiary.
