The drama sees Suzy in episode 2 attempt to sell a luxury watch she was gifted only to be told that it's a Chinese-made replica. Chinese netizens took to Weibo to express disgruntled opinions on the negative depiction of China in Korean dramas, claiming "China does not produce fakes" and "Korean dramas are lying again". The incident, however, is modeled after a real incident that happened in 2006 where a company was caught selling Chinese replicas to celebrities and chaebols by passing them off as real.
