Article: Lee Seung Chul leaves a statement towards female singers and sexually suggestive controversy "Panties in a teaser and illusioned outfits, this is a bit..."
Source: Sports Chosun via Nate
"Bare legs... panties in a teaser.. and illusioned outfits? ㅠㅠ It's not right to promote in such a manner..."
1. [+701, -31] What he's saying is right. When you first see them, you don't think they're pretty or anything, you furrow your eyebrows... They should at least rate the music videos for adults only.. So many kids are able to access them right now.
2. [+596, -27] They're not singers, they're show girls. Not only do they open up their skirts, they ask men to stare at their legs, and what was up with those panties....... They're advertising that they want sex... No wonder kids these days aren't normal.
3. [+175, -12] He's right, he's right. They are crossing the line these days. It's not sexy, it's erotic and embarrassing.

Article: Girl's Day are the sacrifice to the competition of girl group exposure
Source: Mediaus via Nate
Editorial that talks about how Girl's Day's over the top sexy concept actually makes them a sacrifice in this girl group competition. At their showcase, they greeted their fans by jumping into the pool fully clothed, and the journalist talks about how they probably didn't want to do it because it's dehumanizing and embarrassing but they obviously have to pull gimmicks like this to gain attention.
1. [+266, -27] I agree with the journalist. I feel bad for the girl groups who continue to promote without ever winning #1 or ever landing a hit track. Groups like Girl's Day, Rainbow, Dal Shabet, A Pink, and Nine Muses are all resorting to gimmicks like sexier stage outfits and erotic lyrics to get their names known.
They're asking for people to stare at their legs, asking men to come in to their homes for tea and stay all night with them, taking off their skirts, wearing clothes you aren't sure if it's panties or pants...
As a man with a four year old daughter, I would never let her dance or wear what they do even if she was offered several hundreds of thousands of dollars. I'd rather educate her, help her find a good career, and get married to a good man. Those girl group parents obviously have a different mindset than me and I think they're quite ridiculous, especially after seeing a certain father media play about wanting his daughter back in a group she was kicked out of.
2. [+204, -35] Sacrifices? As if. Girl's Day were the start of this whole trend. Do you not remember that they wore diapers before too?
3. [+147, -26] The uncomfortable reality of having to strip in order to survive...
4. [+28, -8] I like this article. Girl's Day's agency always seems to go for the noise marketing tactic to promote them, especially if you remember the diaper outfits they were put in in the beginning. I feel really bad for the group every time I see them. I hope they succeed.
5. [+17, -5] We're never going to see another group like SNSD or the Wonder Girls out of the current idols...
-
5. [+17, -5] We're never going to see another group like SNSD or the Wonder Girls out of the current idols...
ReplyDeletePREACH! Wonder Generation ftw. ♥
people have a lot of feelings about grown women doing things how interezzzzzz
ReplyDelete*cackles*
ReplyDeleteit's a trend, so... yeah there will be more groups like them because it's just a trend rn.
ReplyDeleteso far when SNSD and Wondergirls even after 6 years of being in this kpop scene doesn't need to resort to sexy concepts to win #1 or gain fans
ReplyDelete(Y)
Shut your mouth, boy!
ReplyDeleteOuch, Girl's Day just got some shade from a veteran in entertainment industry.
ReplyDeleteThey not look happy though...saaaddd
ReplyDeleteI was expecting to see a "this is T-ara's fault" type of comment for some reason lol
ReplyDeleteIts really sad how they put their bodies in show like that as if they think its what we will listen to.. we need good songs..dont nobody need to see your almost naked bodies in Kpop..we'd just go to braziers if we'd want that. I little sexy concept sure is good..but this isn't little..obviously.
ReplyDeleteNine Muses are far from resorting to any gimmicks for attention, they are very well rounded and talented girl group. Yes they came out with a sort of gimmick "Models turned singers" but they proved they are more than just long legs and pretty faces. They are now the new MR Removed and live performance stage queens. Girl's Day lost this title for trying to show everyone up by wearing less clothing...
ReplyDeleteGirls day should have stacked to their cute image :/ they have been on a downfall since ohmygod tbh, although they are, I guess, more known
ReplyDeleteSK i get your concern really but at the end of the day this is just exposure on kpop music. you guys have really bigger issues to solve. the amount of articles this stuff is getting is kind of ridiculous now.
ReplyDeleteIt's sad that it's no longer who has the better song, it's now who's more willing to wear less.
ReplyDeleteI still don't understand why men go around policing what women should wear
ReplyDeleteGirl's Day looked good in the video, if the part where they show Minah's butt would have been from another angle the video wouldn't of gotten such a negative response, Also the outfits show just as much as other girl groups so it's not like exposing is something new lbr
They are talking about how they obtained popularity or how they get themselves known. Although the girls are all vocally talented w/o their sexiness or the model to singers image they wouldn't have been known about.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely yes. I don't think SK will see any group like GG or WG in the forseeable future either.
ReplyDeleteThere's just way too many groups debuting left and right and even the relatively popular ones don't look like they're going to rival either of the impact the 2 biggest girl groups of Korea's modern culture at anytime soon.
a pink never had a sexy concept though?
ReplyDeleteThey aren't overtly sexy though, they wear clothes....their choreo isn't raunchy either.
ReplyDeleteMen take off their shirt "OMG so hot!", women wears shots "SLUT!".
ReplyDeletetrue, people aren't going to download their music because they show their asses
ReplyDeleteI agree with the other girl group mentioned..but A-pink? no
ReplyDeleteThey've never had a sexy/erotic concept..
But they never went stripping for attention. I think the most provocative they've ever been was with their MV for 'Wild', but their stage outfits have been anything but gimmicky. Their dances are well choreographed and tasteful.
ReplyDeleteIf they're going to call out groups who have to resort to "controversy" to get noticed, then at least be fair and call out the veteran groups as well. 4Minute and Secret are two groups that come to mind.
ReplyDeleteCUBE x 4Minute started using controversial dance moves to get noticed, despite having to change their choreography afterwards. Not to mention the Trouble Maker fiasco with Hyuna.
When I watch the MV yesterday I was just shocked & had to pause it for a while...their butt cheeks were literally hanging out... this "Sexy Concept" is overused...& that kind of sexiness was just too much...
ReplyDeleteI think that person confused A-Pink with Hello Venus. In their comment they talk about a song that "[asks] men to come in to their homes for tea and stay all night with them". That was Hello Venus's last song if I remember right.
ReplyDeleteTrue but their teasers lately have been a little too much the illusion of being naked beind cards and the other ones :/.
ReplyDeleteI'm not judging them I was just clarifying what the netizen said.
i think this article is more abt crossing the line, have u seen the pic with the line...lets think of it from South Korea conservative view, it is too much. If it was in America, we have seen worse, but this is Koreans voicing their discomfort.
ReplyDeleteI miss the old days of K-pop. There was much more diversity in music back then :/ RIP to those good days.
ReplyDeletePretty sure the tweet was talking about that other solo singer with the teaser with see-through panties...
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't get why they think it's dehumanizing to get in the pool. Their fans were there in the pool during the whole showcase, plus it was outside in Korean summer (HOT+humid) and they're obviously tired and sweaty from performing, so getting in the pool would be a good option to me. They looked pretty happy doing it and greeting the fans, I don't get the shade there.
"1. [+266, -27] I agree with the journalist. I feel bad for the girl groups who continue to promote without ever winning #1 or ever landing a hit track. Groups like Girl's Day, Rainbow, Dal Shabet, A Pink, and Nine Muses are all resorting to gimmicks like sexier stage outfits and erotic lyrics to get their names known."
ReplyDeleteErhm ... Apink hasn't actually. Hush was their sexiest concept and still it wasn't that sexy nor they expose that much skin. All of their concepts have been "cute" even the new one seems to be cute. Did I miss a comeback?
Anyway, I don't know, but I still don't like Female President. At least Expectation was a catchy song.
People really need to stop blaming the girls and realize that their own patriarchal ideals and systems (in which it is MEN in the CEO chairs calling the shots and forcing these girls to do dehumanizinng things) is to blame.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind sexy concept before, since I see them a lot in American music and I'm a fan of it tbh, but ever since some girl groups are screaming "HEY, SINCE WE CAN'T COMPETE WITH OUR TALENT NOR DID WE COME FROM A HUGEASS ENT COMPANY, MIGHT AS WELL PULL OUT A SHOW" with these sexy concepts.............. it became cheap -___-
ReplyDeletesorry, I'm a girl myself and I want other girls to be respected too. but some girl groups are just really asking to be hated. sigh. saddddd. not blaming them completely tho. with the fierce competition in and dumbass CEOs, what do u expect. They pretty much think SEX SELLS EVERYTHING.
[+17, -5] We're never going to see another group like SNSD or the Wonder Girls out of the current idols...
ReplyDeleteWONDER GENERATION FOREVER. <3
I don't know bom, to me they are in that awkward area between being raunchy and awkward. I don't know if I would consider lingerie clothes :/
ReplyDeletePlus that's not what I was talking about anyway... It doesn't take away from their talent at the end.
The netizen is probably confused. A Pink is as innocent as innocent concepts can get. I mean look at their latest comeback teaser, Secret Garden. Girls Day is trying very very very hard to go from 3 / 4 tier to 2nd tier.
ReplyDeleteI dont hate Sistar
ReplyDeleteBut i think they started this trends
2013 seems to be the year of exposure for every girl group out there instead of music improvement.
ReplyDeleteYes it is. Although the choreo is not sexy at all
ReplyDeleteI wonder if there's female CEOs in K-pop labels, if any at all.
ReplyDeletegenie, rdr, oh, igab weren't sexy concepts? they might be tame compared to these but still selling sex
ReplyDeleteI mean do they really not teach critical thinking or social studies or any of those things in Korea? Do Koreans not understand what patriarchy is and why it might have led to these kinds of situations? Korea doesn't seem to concerned with social awareness beyond 'girls in sexy outfits = whores' 'bullying is bad' etc.
ReplyDeletewhen did NB gets mods?
ReplyDelete"They're asking for people to stare at their legs, asking men to come in
ReplyDeleteto their homes for tea and stay all night with them, taking off their
skirts, wearing clothes you aren't sure if it's panties or pants..."
Yeah, whoever thinks like this can go fuck right off into the sun. Disgusting piece of shit.
And 9muses came out wearing lingerie from the beginning, some fools are so pressed about that group.
Even SISTAR wore corset for comeback
ReplyDeleteNice try, troll. ;)
ReplyDeletemte
ReplyDeleteyou sound like a self-hater, get that fixed boo.
ReplyDeletesnsd take part in exposure too....they're the one who started the whole legs trend and that just carried on
ReplyDeleteMmm, around a week and a half ago.
ReplyDeleteI agree "Wild" is the most risque that they have done but it was still done to a tasteful extent (at least imo)....I feel they like to put on a good show before exerting everyone with their mass sex appeal, booty showing, crotch popping, pelvis tapping, leg splitting, back bending, boob squeezing or anything like that. I've always found their attire tasteful as well. Like it's sexy and shows "some" skin but doesn't bear it in a distasteful demeanor.
ReplyDeletedont blame those sasaeng fans or even perverts sending sexual texts or tweets
ReplyDeleteThey learn critical thinking through Starcraft and League of Legends :P
ReplyDeleteWonder Girls show ass too.
ReplyDeletepreach
ReplyDeletechoreography from girl groups these days is such a bore.
ReplyDeletestrut, strut, dip, grind, touch, shake, strut.
What. Since when is Apink doing sexy concepts? Their comeback concept looks like this for God's sake, lmao
ReplyDeleteI think that person confused them with Hello Venus.
ReplyDeleteThat one netizen who mentioned A Pink. They never had a sexy concept. Leave them out of this. Lol >_<
ReplyDeleteOn the bright side, I can't wait for their comeback <3
lee seung chul?
ReplyDeletenever heard of him
you can't blame them when you have the successful story of SISTAR topping charts with uber sexy concepts.
ReplyDeleteYou know other girl groups will follow.
lol, just remember SNSD always called slut or plastic generation or every bad words in previous years. glad netizen nowadays little bit smarter and open their eyes. I think SNSD just normal idol group.
ReplyDeleteWonder Generation ftw!
Nothing wrong with sexy concepts, dude. But if you can't recognize how fetishistic Genie was than lol.
ReplyDeleteI agree with his tweet. During half the mv my eyebrows were raised wondering if those outfits were even comfy and the chanes of them wearing it during the promotion.
ReplyDeleteAgain I say this. Where is the kpop Summer Anthem of '13. '12 had Loving U and '11 had Hot Summer and Bubble Pop.
They do teach social studies at school, and the closest example of critical thinking as a subject is probably '도덕'/dodeok, which translates as 'morality'.
ReplyDeleteProblem is, not many students are really interested in the subjects, nor do the teachers really put much effort in teaching them (at least the ones I had anyway). That said, I don't think patriarchy is going away anytime soon, unless it's another generation or two into the future.
lol nice try but no
ReplyDeleteFor some odd reason I feel like this is the reaction DreamTea wants from the public, & now they've got a veteran in the entertainment basically bringing GsD more attention to them with his tweet. I guess the saying is true, any publicity is good publicity.
ReplyDeleteYea, they wear hot pants but they have never had any choreo or concept that involves stripping or touching themselves sexually. At most they expose their legs and some collar bone, nothing as bad as what other girl groups are made to wear.
ReplyDeletelol Kara fan, stay jelly.
ReplyDeleteso the fuck what! women legs are sexy. we are talking about overexposure. such as ass and tits being shown now.
ReplyDeleteu can have a great song AND wear less AND still be awesome. ex: sistar
ReplyDeleteThey look at Sistar success & now many girls group comeback with sexy comeback
ReplyDeleteWG&SNSD are the real girl group
lol... leg exposure? seriously? i think you're missing the point of netizen complaints...
ReplyDeletelmao please "oppa y u no notice me???"
ReplyDelete"No wonder kids these days aren't normal"
ReplyDeleteLol. Rather blame idols than the parents.
Hey Guys~ I'm South Korean.
ReplyDeleteSouth Korea's Girl Group Popular Now.
-- TOP --
SNSD
2NE1
SISTER
-- Very Popular --
4Minute
KARA
F(X)
Wonder Girls
Secret
-- Popular---
Girls Day
Apink
Nine Muses
Dal Shabet
No, but I'm also not convinced that these would have been the outfits that they would have picked out for themselves either. Girls' Day doesn't deserve the blame, but I'm still not going to like this concept. Ugh, don't people also realize that it's probably a group of men sitting around a table that chose this concept for them in the first place? Netizens are still shit for slut shaming anyway.
ReplyDeleteI'm all for sexy concepts and females taking charge of their sexuality, but first the girls have to make me believe that they themselves really believe in it. And so far only BEG/Gain have really been successful.
i kinda feel bad for them...having to get wet in a pool and be subjected to men staring at them just to sell their music
ReplyDeletebut tihnk of teh kdiz!1! :(
ReplyDeleteForeign probably will be different.
ReplyDeleteEh for me its more like 'oh. This again?' When I see a guy take off their shirt. I prefer that shoulder thing they do. (With the jackets and sleeveless shirts) Its like a peekaboo thats tame.
ReplyDelete" Groups like Girl's Day, Rainbow, Dal Shabet, A Pink, and Nine Muses are all resorting to gimmicks like sexier stage outfits and erotic lyrics to get their names known. "
ReplyDeleteidk about the others but A Pink? are you sure about that
Knetizens used to complain how bored they were with "cute" concept, and now all the "sexy" outfit gonna feed their mouth...I glad to see how annoyed they are now...:)
ReplyDeletemost of them don't really care about T-ARA anymore.. and if SISTAR is doing their super sexy concept very often why not other idols can do it.
ReplyDeletethey want to be popular too.
Now that I think about it...A Pink actually did win once...on M Countdown w/ My My.
ReplyDeleteThere's hardly any female managers, I don't think there are any female idol CEOs...
ReplyDeletenow u heard :)
ReplyDeleteYOONA'S FACE I'M CRYING AHAHAHA
ReplyDeletethey probably was just naming all the recent girl groups. and isn't apink coming back soon? who knows they could also join this sexy train.
ReplyDeletelol check out the teaser. they are wearing like white lacy dresses and no heels, it's not happening
ReplyDeleteNobody was bothered by TOP sitting around with all his "hoes." Double standards much.
ReplyDeletenugu ?
ReplyDeleteWhatever happened to leaving it to their imagination
ReplyDeletei havent seen anyone type like that since my freshman year of highschool.
ReplyDeleteThey were criticized with good reason though. That MV for Female President was absolutely disgusting.. I still cant understand how they allowed themselves to be sexualised like that
ReplyDelete1.
ReplyDeleteRainbow,
that's why DSP change their image in sunshine..i think?...
they made a smart decision with that.
ReplyDeletebecause you're not korean. you only know idols.
ReplyDeleteI learned about Lee Seung Chul recently.
I suggest you to watch and listen to MY LOVE by lee seung chul. the MV was perfect too. REAL LIFE PROPOSAL. it was really beautiful.
I think it's more of instead of slut-shaming SNSD, they have found new targets because there's so many more groups now.
ReplyDeleteis this where knetizens =/= public opinion. cause you guys and these comments constantly complain about this but still many groups are going this route. so explain whats going on?
ReplyDeletei'm reading tbis article now
ReplyDeletethen also in asianjunkie ..waaaaaa
too much for today
http://www.netizenbuzz.blogspot.com/2013/06/lee-seung-chul-weighs-in-on-girl-group.html
http://www.asianjunkie.com/2013/06/girls-days-female-president-makes-me-stand-at-attention/
SNSD cover his songs
ReplyDeletehonestly those micro shorts are nothing new. Even Hara show us her huge ass...
ReplyDeleteHush.
ReplyDeleteactually.. i kind of was. kinda lol
ReplyDeleteHow is Oh a sexy concept?? It's the same cute 'oppa I like you, why don't you notice me?' theme that Gee is.
ReplyDeleteu call hush a sexy concept?
ReplyDeleteabsolutely disgusting? not really. most kpop fans on AKP, omona, soompi loved it.
ReplyDeleteOnly people here don't like it.
"their butt cheeks were hanging out"
ReplyDeleteYea it's great isn't it?
yes it's meant to be sarcastic you see. it's really hard ro portray sarcasm thru the internet so i resort to typing like a moron hoping ppl realize I'm jk.
ReplyDeletehmm i think tht mite be the case
ReplyDeleteExcept Hello Venus never had a sexy concept and never exposed their bodies or did a sexy choreo, so...???
ReplyDeletethe veteran just spoke the truth. good luck, girl's day and other stripping show girls
ReplyDeleteNow that you mention it, the current CEOs of virtually every major label are all men :/
ReplyDeleteThe only exception that comes into mind who's female is Kathy Kim of CJ E&M but that company is only specialized in film distribution and production.
Honestly, I feel like a lot (emphasis on 'a lot') of K-netizens are bandwagoning here and not really saying what's rubbing them the wrong way aka the Female President concept.
ReplyDeleteMethinks majority of the commenters are still sore over the election results.
gee was cute, oh was fetish fuel
ReplyDeletetrue, in fact their comeback teaser seems like they are going to go for a more girl next door concept ....
ReplyDeleteTop's song was actually banned
ReplyDeletehello venus asked men to come in to their home for tea and stay all night with them...
ReplyDelete''As a man with a four year old daughter, I would never let her dance or wear what they do even if she was offered several hundreds of thousands of dollars. I'd rather educate her, help her find a good career, and get married to a good man''
ReplyDeleteCould not agree more as long as this ahjussi is being reasonably strict and not military strict about education and getting her married to a good man.Everyone wants a piece of the fame pie hence why there are sooo many trainees under companies right now.People hate the school system and the competition so if they're talented, making it in the industry which is as tough or tougher than making it to Seoul uni and then using that to go to uni and graduate without even attending it seems like heaven.Too bad that this won't work anymore.
Where is all the outrage when 2PM mansluts it up?
ReplyDeleteYea and so do the members of A-pink?
ReplyDeleteno i don't support men calling women bitches and whores and treating us like property no matter how hot they are.
ReplyDeleteWe can blame both, you know. No matter how the parents take care of their kids, unless these same parents don't allow their kids to have tv, computers etc. (which is impossible) there will always be kids influenced by these kind of mv's by watching it on tv or the internet. I do know some parents (actually a lot) are irresponsible with how they raise their kids, but sometimes even parents doing their best isn't enough, you can never completely control your kids. and yeah, tv and medias are one of the reasons why nowadays you see young kids who act like they're 25 or something, so wrong.
ReplyDeletethat's not the point
ReplyDeletehoes ?
ReplyDeletefemale kpop CEOs lol no.
ReplyDeleteIts a shame. I love girl groups since I'm a guy and I LOVED their MV.. Very sexy and with a good beat. Enough of the cute concept that every group does...
ReplyDeleteAnd this guy talking about Girls Day is just another apology waiting to happen. People think their opinion is worth more than just an opinion. Tweet away kids.
Well duh, that person said in SK.
ReplyDeleteBut I agree with the TOP group on the list.
and so? this didn't became a scandal at all. the lyrics only said to come home for tea, of course it can imply other things but it wasn't said directly. Suggestive songs exist since forever. the current problem with girl groups (and the discussion in this article) is about outfits, sexy choreos and exposing bodies, which Hello Venus NEVER did.
ReplyDeleteGo Kathy! Men, she must have a difficult time at work but she reppinnn for all the Korean women in the workforce!
ReplyDeleteGirls day really crossed the line with the panties fashion ! But it's not their fault after all they are just the toys of a company.
ReplyDeleteFemale President's chorus sounds too much like 24/7 imo. Like 24/7 was catchy but hearing it again but in a different song makes Female President auto catchy but at the same time looking like a 19+ copy
ReplyDeleteit was sexy for them, but comparatively speaking, not really.
ReplyDeletethe most provocative thing about it was the maybe two inches of skin they showed from their tshirt and skinny jeans outfit
Obviously we are talking about from a cultural and social perspective, not about whether some higher ups thought it was indecent. Society doesn't have any trouble pointing fingers at girls who willingly strip down for the camera and do sexy concepts but they find it perfectly acceptable for a guy to strip girls down and use them as props. Where was the angry mob then?
ReplyDeleteI wish I could agree with your statement but I cant, even though parents try to be responsible in what their children watch and hear, kids learn of such things from their peer group anyway.
ReplyDeletescandalous!
ReplyDeletehttp://images.wikia.com/disney/images/4/46/The_Ashleys_Fifth_Grade.jpg
i agree. It wasn't fully-fledged sexy. It has some cute elements to it as well. There was no provocative clothing ..so imo it wasn't really sexy concept.
ReplyDeleteI think we've all said what need to be said about the music scene becoming so based of looks. There's nothing left to say
ReplyDelete[+17, -5] = netizen??? lol
ReplyDelete-Sigh- You can't please everyone. I even remember in an article, someone commented about Secret's 'YooHoo' was going to fail because cute just doesn't cut it anymore. Now that a ton of female idols are going for the sexy concept they hate on it to no end. People are just really hard to please.
ReplyDeleteyeah it's stupid to blame them. look at their faces in that pool pictures. they are clearly just acting out what their ceo wants.
ReplyDeleteeven though nine muses came back with a 'wild' concept ... i was actually surprised ... yes it did seem sexy but it was just at the right limit .... well, relatively at least ....
ReplyDeletegirl's day .... i mean that dress .. if that's what you can call it ... it looks like it isn't really finished yet .....
All I see is slut-shaming and people trying to dress it up as concern for society.
ReplyDeletePlease.
No, most of the blame lies with how the parents raise them. Media isn't going to go away, we see violence, sex, and more on TV and in movies and music quite often. It's one thing when kids watch these themes, but if there parents are doing their jobs, they'll know not to act everything they see in the media out. If your parents teach you what's right and wrong appropriately then even if you are exposed to this stuff, it hardly influences your decisions and actions.
ReplyDeleteNope. Its a figurative of speech...they were wearing clothes that reveal a bit too much for my liking...sorry to disappoint..
ReplyDeletegirls day you can do better you know. why this. you can be super popular if you guys release hit song. don't sell your body. sell your music. i know they are embarrassed enough to dance with panties like that. obviously this is their ceo idea. hope for their next comeback they will release proper mv. but female president is okay for me. i think i will like the song. but the mv.....like i said,,they can do better. girls day fighting!
ReplyDeleteblaming men because there are more of them in ceo/higher up positions haha :p that's funny.
ReplyDeleteIf there are less women ceo's, blame women.
I got thrown off by the 'huge ass' part...
ReplyDeleteLOL
ReplyDeletestill trying to figure out why they decided to jump into the pool to greet their fans...no one is winning there.
ReplyDeleteexplain the slut-shaming you see, because i don't see any.
ReplyDeleteLMAO at this victim-blaming and blatant misogyny.
ReplyDeleteHypothetically, if they were forced to do this possibly by a male in a position of power... why would you blame THEM?
LOVE IT HEHEHEHEH!!
ReplyDeletewhere are you crying when there are 2pm articles out? guys don't like that crap and most girls on those articles just eat it up.
ReplyDeleteAnd with this prostitute crap, guys also say it's stupid and don't care much for it & girls call them names etc also (and others 'demand' respect for their lowlife behaviour)
Work out the percentages, retard
But Rainbow's Sunshine doesn't talk about "asking men to come in to their homes for tea and stay all night with them, taking off their skirts, wearing clothes you aren't sure if it's panties or pants"...
ReplyDeleteFeel bad for them, they are probably embarassed
ReplyDeleteseriously?? nugu?? oh man.. for the God sake..use ur brain before u talk... smh... lee seung chul is a legendary singer and ex vocalist of famous Boohwal group... he debut before ur shitty bias was born...
ReplyDeletewhy are people saying it was dehumanizing for girl's day to jump in the pool??
ReplyDeletethey were hosting a POOL PARTY
2. [+596, -27] They're not singers, they're show girls. Not only do they
ReplyDeleteopen up their skirts, they ask men to stare at their legs, and what was
up with those panties....... They're advertising that they want sex...
No wonder kids these days aren't normal.
You really need me to spell it out?
don't you know they needed to be in hanboks for that
ReplyDeleteonly people don't like it?? are u sure u're not living in parallel universe?
ReplyDeletei do think they should b focusing in quality but ppl should understand that concepts are made by companies and maybe if theyre trying to sell this its because they know people would buy'.. if ppl werent buying they would probably stop using this concept... calling the girls showgrls, prostitute, etc. is so out of place.! i dont see anyone calling boys prostitutes when tey rip their shirts off ! the girls might be uncomfortable enough with the concept to on top of that deal with random ppls bitchiness.
ReplyDeletebut that was one comment. you're saying all you see is slut shaming. of course there's always going to be one idiot.
ReplyDeleteyou don't have to be respected to be able to 'sell', that's why 'singers' like these don't care and go for it.
ReplyDeleteNo one is gonna praise this, but it still might sell for the exact reason they're trying to market it, 'sex appeal' etc.
to exclude either -parental guidance or media influence- as a factor is wrong but we can say that this generation can actually be more influenced through the media as times have changed and 'kids' are now much more exposed to the media than the actual parents .... their role *in my opinion* ends at a very early age -relative to past generations- i mean the internet .... mass advertising ... i know for a fact that on a regular day i see these more than i see my parents ...
ReplyDeletepeople argue that if your parents teach you what is right or what is wrong you automatically are able to tell the latter ... but this does not take into account individual personality ... experiences, circumstances which influence choice ... nature of the person ... introvert , easily influenced etc... i mean im sure most parents try to raise their children as well as they can but ... these days its a rarity to see children not fall for simple pressures or influences ... example peer pressure ... iam sure at one point mostly everyone has fallen a victim to peer pressure ... does that mean your parents have not raised you ?
they actually wanna help the korean man to masturbate ...lol
ReplyDeleteI wonder how many parents who are SO hellbent on policing celebrities that are supposedly 'role-models' for their kids actually sit down with their kids and talk to them. About sex. About drugs. About sometimes ppl change and they disappoint you. You know, like ACTUAL communication not just lecturing when something goes wrong. Obviously, I can't say much because I've never had kids. But I just don't think this over-protectiveness today's parents have is very useful. Eventually, your kid will be exposed to the elements; it's inevitable and it's probably sooner than you think. When it happens, it all boils down to what YOU taught them (or didn't), not Miley Cyrus.
ReplyDeleteDSP?
ReplyDeleteWhen 596 people thumb up such a comment, yeah, I do have the right to multiple people are just dressing up slut-shaming as something more
ReplyDeleteHonestly TOP was trying to emulate hip hop culture.. (bitches and hoes concept).. which is a whole different discussion...
ReplyDeleteRECESS!!!!
ReplyDelete"blaming men because there are more of them in ceo/higher up positions haha"
ReplyDeleteI don't have a problem with men being CEOs. What I do find discerning however, is that there's many of them in K-pop who've proven to be despicable nutjobs up to the point they should be thrown out.
"If there are less women ceo's, blame women."
Are you an actual idiot or trolling? Has the word 'patriarchy' ever rung inside that thick skull of yours?
That is not true. A lot of people seem to think we live in a "equal world" now but that is bullshit. Men are still preferred for higher position mainly chosen by other men. Men still have more job opportunities and there are a lot of employers who prefer hiring men because they think they are better at their jobs or because they think they are easier to work with. Truth is, women still don't have the same opportunities in their careers as men, hence its more difficult for them to hold higher position. I assume is even more difficult in Korea.
ReplyDeletelol apparently so
ReplyDeleteomg like have they never seen girls at pools or at the beach
right now they are looking for whatever excuse to bash them
oh..
ReplyDeletemtee..! and besides that, if theyre trying to sell this concept might be because some 'innocent netizens' just like them would buy it...
ReplyDeleteLook at you trying to justify it, what bullshit. If you're a girl, don't act too surprised when you get treated like shit. But thank you for proving my point.
ReplyDelete2pm gets rip on all the time for ripping off their shirts by netizen. and what does boy groups have to do with anything? no one saying it right they sell sex but male groups rarely do it anyway.
ReplyDeletefor female groups it's always sexy concept or cute concept. that's all a female can do. but males don't even need to have concepts to promote. why is that? why do CEO treat females as if they can't handle promoting without being cute or sexy?
we need to stop blaming girls groups and boy groups and look at the people who really in charge here. the CEO's and the creative directors. most important citizen of korea you don't support talent over looks.
LOL @ 'they allowed themselves'
ReplyDeleteyou act as if they have a choice in what they choose to promote.
they might voice their opinion but in the end, the COMPANY makes the final choice.
Lee Ho Yeon is the CEO of DSP, if memory calls. I did hear his wife did take over briefly while he was hospitalized, not long before that KARA lawsuit occurred.
ReplyDeletewell there were comments that had legit points so i don't know why you chose to focus on that one.
ReplyDeleteLOL yeah they're totally being forced to do it, it's not just their work, they got a gun to their head and have to act likes whores.
ReplyDeleteAnd there are Men in the ceo chairs because what, women aren't allowed to be right? The ignorance level here is insane.
There are enough respectable female artists that don't whore out for attention/fame, many don't even market their looks and just have songs.
It's pathetic how people like you always blame others when it's bad and when it's good 'yeah that's just how women are'.
This is the pathetic other side of the spectrum, nothing to do with men, because this isn't fucking 'rape', it's a job they took on, signed a contract for and can refuse, because even if they have to go to court or 'get some problems' it might not be worth the pathetic actions at some point.
There's no 'do it or DIE', you piece of shit.
There's a reason why young girls act slutty and use their body to get things (like these girls) & there are less in the 'ceo' side of things, like in kpop, It's CHOICES, choosing the pathetic easy route.
And then Not getting the 'higher' up, worked hard for position, getting what you want by using your looks/body (so you're selling yourself for something, that's the exact defintion of being a whore btw) & then there are lowlifes like you demanding respect and blaming men for the girls taking the easy sad route.
Top's song was banned due to him saying the names of clothing brands in his songs, if im not mistaken. nothing to do with the girls at all.
ReplyDeleteseriously? calm your tits and stop jumping to conclusions. i'm not justifying anything, i hate that concept. i'm just explaining what he was doing you can find it offensive but thats what his concept was.
ReplyDeleteI don't really mind sexy concepts as long as it's tasteful and THE SONG is actually good. I thought Girl's Day's "Expectation" was great balance of both but Female President wasn't at all.
ReplyDeleteAnytime you have a strong song to back up a concept, you'll most likely get less criticism. But when use sexy to make up for a bad/not so great song then that often doesn't work out well.
THANK YOU!!
ReplyDeleteNo one is forcing anyone. If they really had an issue with those concepts, they would happily deny doing them.
your username really says it all.
ReplyDeleteyet it wasn't banned because of that
ReplyDeleteHe took over again? I thought his wife was still the CEO
ReplyDeleteI wasn't excluding either, I was only saying that most of the blame falls on the parents rather than the media. The media is distant, most of its influences are rather subtle and illicit vs. parents' direct influence on children's lives. Unless you have absent parents/guardians then most of your main influences on mortality comes from them. Of course parents SHOULD know their kids and modify their parenting styles based on each kid's individual personality, etc. unlike media which is just mass produced and sticks to those that often lets it stick (i.e. influence) them the most.
ReplyDeleteParents have to stick by their children for the most part and should definitely know what their kids are doing all the time. When they don't have a prominent, active role in their kids lives that's when the problems start. The blame is on them here, not the media who has no obligation to anyone.
Also I don't believe that anyone is inherently 'easily influenced', if you're taught right (not only by parents, but also school, etc.) then you wouldn't blindlessly follow what's shown in front of you. IDK your post is kind of going off topic, so please correct me if I'm misunderstanding you.
Plus media =/= peer pressure. I wasn't discussing the latter so I don't get why you brought it up.
Wonder Girls also have a lady manager
ReplyDelete66 upvotes and no down, this place is more pathetic than ilbe lol.
ReplyDelete5. [+17, -5] We're never going to see another group like SNSD or the Wonder Girls out of the current idols...
ReplyDeleteTHIS. If we are to look at the kpop industry objectively, we do a see a decrease in the quality of girl groups. Every comeback concept for girl groups now are too proactive and sexually suggestive. And I am not blaming the girls because they have no say in what their comeback concept is. The public, however, needs to tell these companies that this is not what we want to consume.
For both SM and YG, the sex concept has its presence but does not go overboard. To be honest, putting idols in panties and illusioned outfits does nothing but make the idols look cheap so I don't really understand the logic behind Girls' Day's CEO.
I'm surprised they're not wearing all white. That would have really grabbed the news headlines. Shame of you agency for missing this potential gimmick!
ReplyDeleteover the top sexy concept is just a no-no.. how i wish they /their comps/ start to pay attention to their singing, release good songs instead of making them look like sluts
ReplyDeleteThis misogynistic bullshit.
ReplyDeleteyou do know in korea women trainee are rape and treated like shit by their ceo on a regular basis. there was just a man sent to prison for raping several of his underage trainees. do you think they wanted to get rape? do you think they didn't want to leave that situation. but they couldn't! why? i don't know but i'm pretty sure the reason made alot of sense to them. what you just wrote was full of such fucking ignorance! goddamn you.
ReplyDelete"Do you not remember that they wore diapers before too?"
ReplyDeleteoh lord i remember that ><
i agree with the top comment in second article
however the ENT. companies+staffs also have a big part in all of this
Because sex appeal grabs viewers attention. However, the attention is usually short-term depending on the product...well in this case...the people.
ReplyDeletePlus, I think this is more of a public opinion in Korea? From what I understand, Korea is a fairly conservative country...so...they're more inclined towards traditional ways (in other words...they see these kinds of sexy outfits worn in public as immodest or obscene).
