IU reps clarify rumors about her recent land purchase

Article: IU reps, "Unfounded rumors... the 2.3 billion won is an error" [official statement]

Source: TV Report via Nate

IU reps, "Claims that IU purchased a building and land through speculation are not true. She had no such intention. The building is currently being used as IU's mother's office, her personal work room, and training rooms for juniors that she is supporting. She has no intention to sell anything. The rise in price that is claimed is impossible. The 2.3 billion won is not even correct. The neighborhood in question doesn't even allow deals."

1. [+564, -160] I wonder who's behind her, what an amazing b*tch

2. [+470, -92] In a September 2015 interview with CeCi, IU was asked about her thoughts on her new wealth and whether that has brought more happiness, to which she replied, "There's a saying that not everyone is happy just because they're rich. I don't think they're wrong but I do think that there's a possibility to become happy by having money. One thing's for sure, money gives people a sense of confidence. I had a deep talk about money with my mother not too long ago. I felt that although I was making more than in the past, I was also spending more and I felt that I was losing a sense of money's worth. As I became more numb to bigger amounts of money, I felt that I was having happier times stolen from me. Which is why I thought after a long while that I don't need any more wealth than I have now. My parents agreed with me."
And how is it that there was not one article in the news about her purchasing 4.9 billion won worth of real estate? When other celebrities get in the news just for purchasing a billion won worth of land or buildings?

3. [+438, -66] Her agency's clarification uses deception ㅋㅋ Obviously deals aren't allowed in the town yet because GTX hasn't even begun developing on the land. Unless you're a fool, anyone would know that you have to develop that land and have people register in order for the prices to rise. What IU's doing right now is 'gentrification'. She's raising prices and driving the original people who used to live there out since she has to rent out her building to make a profit. 'Gentrification' is one of the worst economic processes.

4. [+83, -10] Does she really think we're idiots enough to believe that? ㅋㅋㅋㅋ How many other pieces of land have risen that much? How did she know that the land was going to rise that much without previous information? Does she think that lands like this just fall into the laps of kind people? ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

5. [+73, -8] So she makes trainees go all the way to Gwachun to train ㅋㅋㅋ she has quite an eye for seeing land, I'm sure she'll profit off of this in middle age ^^

6. [+62, -10] So scary ㅋ She always slips out of scandals like a slippery loach ㅎㅎ

7. [+59, -8] A training room in the green belt^^? Wow~~~~~~~~

8. [+56, -8] Well she's been caught now so she can't sell it immediately. She can just leave it there and let GTX develop it so the price can rise even higher. How can she do this after giving interviews claiming she doesn't need any further wealth~

9. [+55, -9] The land she bought is totally in the middle of no where ㅠㅠㅜㅜㅜㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

10. [+46, -10] So if the area the land is in doesn't allow deals, how did she purchase it?

11. [+43, -5] Her land is in the middle of no where with nothing on it and yet she paid 4.6 billion won for it? Why would she do that unless she was given information to make her think otherwise? Who would risk throwing away their money like that?

12. [+42, -3] Her agency should've thought this out a bit more before putting out a clarification so fast. Do they think we're that dumb... I have no words to say at their claim that there are "no deals allowed" there ㅋㅋㅋㅋ... how can you be so dumb to say that? ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

13. [+39, -3] Well I guess her trainees are going to have to take the GTX to get to their training room then

14. [+34, -5] A better excuse would've been to say she bought the land to build an orphanage in the future........... she bought it to use as a training room?? Who would go all the way to Gwachun to train, that's a lot of unnecessary suffering.

15. [+34, -9] ㅋㅋ She has no reason to sell it now. Once the area is developed more, she'll make even more money ㅋ

16. [+48, -5] She wants us to believe she invested 4.6 billion won in the middle of no where to use as a training room..? ㅎㅎㅎ

17. [+48, -6] I'm really disappointed in her... and actually scared of her

18. [+43, -6] I'm really curious.. she goes all the way to Gwachun just to train?? I'd rather spend 4 billion won somewhere in Seoul... isn't it better to have something like that closer to you?

19. [+39, -3] So the "error" they're trying to claim is that it wasn't a 2.3 billion won rise in price but 2.2 billion won ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ either way, she knew the land was going to rise in price and now they want us to believe she bought it to live on.. which is what everyone says when they get caught ㅋㅋ

20. [+38, -2] I mean, she's lucky that she made money off of the land rising in price but her official statement is fishy. Normally when people buy buildings to use for commercial purposes, they try to buy it closer to them with better infrastructure, no? Time is money to these top stars, why would she purchase one so far away from her?

21. [+35, -1] You have to chance on incredible luck to purchase a piece of land like this. It basically boils down to who has the better information, which leads to obvious suspicions, no?

1. [+1,904, -426] She's using the green belt as a training room???

2. [+1,521, -363] What're they even saying? Do they not know what real estate speculation is? Just because IU's reps say it isn't doesn't mean it isn't. Please study up on your economy.

3. [+1,391, -294] ㅠㅠㅠㅠ What does denying it do? Even Choi Soon Shil denied it ㅠㅠ

4. [+1,175, -294] Her land went up 50% in price in a year and she's using it as a training room ㅋㅋㅋ

5. [+1,098, -231] She's using a green belt region as her training room? A training room all the way in Gwachun????

6. [+766, -116] Even Jung Yoora claimed she bought land in Pyeongchang to use as a horseback riding range. What makes IU any different? ㅋ

7. [+612, -92] She works mainly in Seoul and yet her training room is all the way in the middle of no where in Gwachun...? And she somehow randomly lucked out with that land rising 2.3 billion won in price...... sure....

8. [+589, -91] Using a green belt region as her training room ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ how big is her training room that she invested 4.6 billion won in it? What kind of clarification is this... unless they really think the public are fools enough to believe it ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

9. [+533, -60] This is why image is everything in Korea ㅋㅋㅋ She's going to continue acting like she's all innocent and naive while calculating her next move behind it all ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 4.6 billion won is a ton of money, anyone can tell that investing all of that into a green belt land was a decision made off of insider information. And yet she's claiming to use it as a training room? Even a dog would scoff at that ㅋㅋㅋ

10. [+467, -69] So the land she bought for her juniors to train in went up 50% in price in a year ㅋㅋㅋ she has quite the special eye in real estate, doesn't she?

11. [+438, -43] Eh? I live in Gwachun and the land that IU bought is in an area that makes you question why anyone would buy there. She's claiming it's for training room purposes? In the middle of no where? Just why?

12. [+331, -21] Her trainees are going to spend more money on transportation just to get there

13. [+338, -45] So sad to see fans still shielding her while she's making all this money... at least stay quiet instead of outing yourself as her slave

14. [+270, -45] Who in the world would build a training room there?

15. [+263, -38] Who would invest 4.6 billion won in your mother's office, or training room for juniors...

16. [+216, -11] So if they're claiming that deals aren't allowed in that region, how did she buy the land in the first place?

17. [+188, -20] Really? She invested 4.6 billion won in the middle of no where in Gwachun just to build a training room? And "coincidentally", the government sponsored GTX is being built there? I don't hate IU but this is all so suspicious. Don't treat us like hate comments.

18. [+186, -29] She's going to sell all of this off later so quietly that no one will even know ㅋㅋㅋ

19. [+173, -31] ㅎㅎ...a training room in Gwachun... ㅎ

20. [+148, -8] I've seriously lived in Gwachun from 2007 to last June and when I saw the land she bought, all I could think was "why would she buy this?" It's in the middle of no where, there's nothing around the land either... and now suddenly a government sponsored GTX is going to be built there? How did so many coincidences align?

21. [+136, -21] The same idiots who will believe this excuse are the same pigs who believed her when she said visiting the sick ^^^^^^^

22. [+111, -4] The reason the explanation doesn't make sense is that she bought the land for 4.6 billion won, then the green belt was released three months later, which allowed her to build an office and training room or whatever. If that green belt was never released, she never would've been able to build anything ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ She obviously had insider information that the green belt was going to be released before purchasing the land... otherwise, what idiot would dump 4.6 billion won on land that can't be developed?

23. [+89, -16] So there's just a huge training room sitting out there in the middle of Gwachun, in the middle of no where?

24. [+63, -10] The funny thing is that this article should only raise more suspicions and yet there are her fans who just believe it all and are shielding her.. did you all leave your brains at home?

25. [+47, -0] You're not allowed to build on green belt land so she's lying when she said she bought the land to build an office and training room on. I saw the land and there are no buildings there. She knew that the green belt would be released. Who would invest 4.6 billion won without such information otherwise?

26. [+53, -9] Did she really build an office and training room in the middle of a field with nothing but vinyl greenhouses..

27. [+43, -1] It's funny to me that poors are defending a chaebol level rich person. It's because of people like IU that housing costs continue to go up and the rest of the citizens aren't able to survive it. Before you shield her, look at the backs of your parents that are breaking.

28. [+40, -1] I'd lie like IU all the time if I had idiot fans who believed even such ridiculous clarifications like this ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

29. [+41, -6] Amazing how the land was banned from construction right until she bought it and suddenly she was given the clear ㅎㅎ

30. [+35, -1] When IU spent 4.6 billion won on purchasing the land, it was under green built, which prohibits building on it. Like her reps are claiming, it wasn't land that could be sold. It was literally in the middle of no where with no transportation to it so why is she claiming that she built a training room for her juniors there? She must've known that the land would've been released from green belt and that the GTX would run through it before purchasing the land. She bought it in January of 2018, the land was released in April, and GTX announced it would be running through that land just a few months after. Did she 'really' know nothing? Did she really buy land in the middle of no where for her parents and juniors to use? And she randomly lucked out so miraculously so many times in a row? Anyone who invests so much money into a green belt land is 100% acting on insider information.

1. [+4,372, -628] "What's the problem if she's using it as a training room, work room?" ❌❌❌❌ When she first bought it, the land was under the green belt which means you can't build anything on it, no office, no training room... but that was released in three months. So what we're asking is how she knew that the land was going to be released before she bought it.

2. [+3,375, -208] The land's going to rise in price even more in the future, why would she sell it now? ㅋㅋㅋ

3. [+3,329, -302] Of course she has "no plans to sell it", the price is predicted to jump to 20 billion won once construction is completed there... She better not sell it all quietly later on~ The public aren't fools enough to believe that you randomly bought green belt land to build a training room on, which is suspicious enough in itself..

4. [+1,106, -26] There's no problem at all with IU using the land she bought as an office or training room but the problem is that at the time she bought the land, the land was under green belt, which means she wasn't allowed to build anything to begin with. Then it was released from green belt three months later. What we want to know is why IU bought that land in the first place when she couldn't have built anything on it right then.

5. [+750, -9] Her agency needs to realize that we're not taking problem with the fact that she bought that land but how she came to find out about it ^^
