11 year old Seohee is in the 4th grade and attends 12 after school academies in addition to school. She stays up as late as 3 am finishing homework and wakes up at 7:50 to complete the cycle again. She asked her mom if she could cut back but her mom refused. Her dad said she could quit them all but her mom does not listen, saying, "I'm sure any mother will know that this (amount of academies) is just average. Seohee is on the average end compared to other kids. Seohee said she was sick so I got her tested at the hospital and it turned out to be her just complaining for the sake of it."

Seohee also said, "Because I have such a tight schedule, I don't have much friends at school."

1. [+274, -2] I was absolutely horrified with this segment. All this 11 year old girl wanted in life was to go on walks with her mom and play with her friends.. she wants to sleep for 8-9 hours. Why should a kid her age have to wish for these things? Even when she was introducing herself in English, it clearly sounded like she had just been memorizing words like a machine.. Sigh~ It's already quite obvious the child's sick of studying. When the mom told her, "Become the best Seohee-ya, I love you".. she should've been saying, "I hope you live a happy life, Seohee-ya~"

2. [+231, -6] Just because you gave birth to your kid does not give you any right to do whatever you want with your kid's life. If they want to play, let them play. All a parent needs to do is make sure that a child is not led down the wrong path. How can that parent fulfill their own greed by not even letting their own child play freely? This is the reality of Korea's education system. It's hopeless, really...

3. [+175, -4] Ugh, the kid's suffering all over the mother's greed

4. [+20, -0] Poor girl... the kid will never be enough for a woman like that. No matter how well she does, the mother will always be like, "Think of everything I've done for you! This isn't enough!"

5. [+10, -1] Do whatever you want to your child but it's not until high school freshman year that you really find out whether you're meant to study or not.

1. [+10,560, -70] It's not like doing all that will guarantee she gets into Seoul University ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

2. [+9,088, -46] That kids going to have one hell of a puberty

3. [+7,891, -55] I feel so bad for her. She's ruining her health over her mother's greed. What good is going to all these academies if it makes her miserable?

4. [+7,275, -41] She's going to be so sick of studying when it comes time where it actually matters

5. [+6,085, -64] I hope she realizes that overworking her like that is just spreading her thin and she'll never actually have the time to solidify one subject well

6. [+1,42, -12] It's kids who grow up like this who end up committing suicide when they don't do well on the college entrance exam

7. [+1,085, -12] The mother's a monster birthed by Korean society. I don't blame her but... she's going too far. Sad thing is that there are so many Korean mothers like her even still.

8. [+993, -8] That husband's going to spend his entire life paying for her academy fees
