Source:
Kuki News via Nate

1. [+666, -61] Should've put up your own poster retorting it if you're so against it but all you're doing is taking proof shots for the internet in the middle of the night when no one can see you... What a pathetic life...

2. [+568, -58] Why do they bother living. If they're so against it, why not put up their own poster retorting it... Too bad they have nothing to retort because what they're all saying is the truth.

3. [+568, -58] Sigh... What to do with you guys...

4. [+40, -4] All of the pictures are taken at night or in the early morning ㅋㅋ Too embarrassed to prove they're ilbe during the day.

5. [+36, -4] Pathetic cowards ㅋㅋ

6. [+30, -5] As expected of ilbe... How about a proof shot of your face ^^ Stop acting so strong while hiding

7. [+23, -2] Imagine how much they looked around like cowards before ripping them up...

8. [+19, -2] Rip them during the day out in the open if you're so confident with your actions ㅋㅋㅋ

Such attention seekers. Can't believe people like this actually exist in the world.

  3. Disgusting. But what can anyone expect out of cowards?

  5. lol taken when no one can see them kk keyboard warriors for sure

  6. What's w the hand sign?? Does anyone know?? These bunch of people are like the scum of the earth. People are finally doing something meaningful and all they do is mock them and undo their hard work. These posters might not mean anything much but that's always the first step to creating awareness.

    ReplyDelete
  7. NB did an article on that alr. U can find it. It's recent.

    ReplyDelete
  8. What is ilbe? I am def serious I dont know the meaning of ilbe

    ReplyDelete
  9. it looks like the okay hand sign, maybe it's to say mission accomplished or something.

    ReplyDelete
  10. why does the media keep giving the site attention tho? it's like if the western media wrote articles about reddit & 4chan users. they're just giving the site free advertising.

    ReplyDelete
  11. it's a troll site (one made up of 'conservative people'?)

That is actually so fucking disrespectful, stop being such close minded fucks and accept that the world is changing. Everyone has freedom is speech, reflect on your actions like seriously can't you see that what you're doing will hurt someone else's feelings; and yes I'd like to see you all try to do that in plain daylight.

  15. Me too. :( I saw someone asked a question like yours and s/he got a reply: "you must be new in Netizen Buzz" and that reply got lots of up votes and I'm like ;A;

    ReplyDelete
  16. If they are trolling, it's obviously a success in their eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Silencing others when there isn't anyone around to stop you isn't how you fight for your beliefs. At least it should't be.

    ReplyDelete
  18. okay... so? the message is still out. if they had something to say they should have just put up their own posters instead right next too it. that's what adults would do.

    ReplyDelete
  19. it's 2 posts ahead... read it.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Ilbe is all about being crude so putting up a poster of their own isn't something they would do

    ReplyDelete
  21. IIbe users are like the nemesis of Korean society. It's like they live by being hated. Think all people who IIbe users need to make an appointment with a psychologist.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I hear so much about Ilbe that it gives the impression of some big organised crime group when it's probably people living their normal lives but for a tiny sliver or "rebellion" against the masses to fill up the void of a boring, meaningless life.

People is posting up some ripped posters meanwhile three bodies hanging from a bridge were discovered on the outskirts of my city.

Ilbe are nothing but sick-minded losers and people give them too much importance.

    ReplyDelete
  23. wow lol are older nb users already starting to make a divide?
anyways, im actually not too sure what ilbe is either cause i never went on it and cant understand the stuff there anyways, but people say it's like 4chan but 100x worse and ilbe users are horrible people. i think you can search 'ilbe' on this site and read more about what the people do

    ReplyDelete
  24. Because we're on the internet and if you google "ilbe" even without context there's an explanation on the 5th link
"What is ilbe" and "ilbe Korea" have even more results.
In the time you asked "what is ilbe?" to us you could have checked it yourself.

  31. The link below gives a pretty good description. If you are short on time, start from "1.what is ilbe lile"

  32. Be an asshole where everyone can see you if you wanna do this crap. Then people will beat the shit out of you and you'll realize how much of a coward you are.

    ReplyDelete
  33. journalists making up excuses about spending their time on the site? "i did it in the name of journalism!" also people really enjoy hating on ilbe, so posting about it gives many clicks/comments = monehs

    ReplyDelete
  34. How embarrassing lmao

    ReplyDelete
  35. pathetic in the real life

    ReplyDelete
  36. We give Ilbe trash way too much attention...

    ReplyDelete
  37. Because it's their job? Western media does write about reddit and 4chan when they pull their crazy stunts. In this instance, they're been opposition demonstrated against the protests and it's up to journalists to provide the story behind what happened. It's not free advertisement, it's JOURNALISM.

    ReplyDelete
  38. How pathetic must your life be if you have to resort to things like this?

    2. [+568, -58] Why do they bother living. If they're so against it, why not put up their own poster retorting it... Too bad they have nothing to retort because what they're all saying is the truth.

    A++++++

    ReplyDelete
  39. What is Ilbe?? So they were wandering in the midnight riped the posters and take the picture as proof. What exactly they want to prove??

    ReplyDelete
  40. They're seriously idiotic. Really. Just like all bullies complete cowards.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Wow they've got their own gang sign now

    ReplyDelete
  42. passive aggressive losers

    ReplyDelete
  43. I really pity them ... nothing but being a fucking cancer to society. I sincerely hope they grow up or stfu because nobody cares.

  45. I guess it would help if you scrolled down the main NB page ...............

    ReplyDelete
  46. There are so many punk ass people in the world like this and the internet is their holy land and source of strength.

    ReplyDelete
  47. it's shoddy journalism. no one cares for these basement dwellers's attempts to be controversial.

    ReplyDelete
  48. In the end all they're doing is drawing attention to it so they haven't really gained anything.

    ReplyDelete
  49. They ripped up the posters at night? That just gave this protest more attention. They should have just taken the posters down if they wanted to go that far & 'silence' them.

    ReplyDelete
  50. The reason Ilbe's doing this is because the 'How are you' protests are protests against the current Korean president Park Geun Hye and her conservative Saenuri Party. Ilbe considers this protest as a propaganda of Democratic Party and the United Progressive Party, the parties that Ilbe consider as Communist. The leader of UP Party was actually arrested for planning a terrorist plot with the NK government.

Ilbe is known to be a conservative site and a firm supporter of President Park Geun-Hye who is hated and accused of being a 'dictator' by the leftist Korean netizens.

If anyone wants to know more about Ilbe, you can go to the following link:

    or just ask me.

  51. LeoSlaysAllofyourFavesDecember 15, 2013 at 12:07 AM

Ilbe are just showing that they're a bunch of pussies

    ReplyDelete
  52. By that line of reasoning the media ought to ignore terrorists as well. It's not within their ethics to be that selective in that sense--publishing doesn't necessarily glorify the content. They present news to document key events and for society to reflect what goes on in the world. That's one of the points of journalism, and while this can often be abused that's not always the case (as it isn't here).

    ReplyDelete
  53. It's amusing how they put under "hated by ilbe users" --> you see things like communism and politicians who have opposing views to the "ilbe" view...and then you scroll some more and you see: "EXO - considered as a disaster ruining the Korean music industry." <---seriously, wtf?

    ReplyDelete
  54. see westboro baptist church

    ReplyDelete
  55. Okay so you ripped up posters...how childish. You ripping the posters are going fuel the protests. You should have posted a picture of why you do not agree.

[+666, -61] Should've put up your own poster retorting it if you're so against it but all you're doing is taking proof shots for the internet in the middle of the night when no one can see you... What a pathetic life...

    ReplyDelete
  56. ilbe is against all democracy. they're known to be far right, pro-dictatorship lunatics. they advocate murdering all protestors, as in the Gwangju massacre. it's bizarre that trash like that don't think they would be some of the first people killed in their fantasy world. I guess think like to think they would be able to suck up to power to stay alive. Probably by ratting out people for being "leftist".

    ReplyDelete
  57. 내가 제일 잘나가December 15, 2013 at 1:02 AM

Ugh they are so annoying. They are like mosquitoes where you can hear their buzz close to you but you just don't know where abouts.

    ReplyDelete
  58. 1. They are not against all democracy. If they were against democracy, they wouldn't have voted for Park Geun Hye in the democratic election.

    2. They do not advocate murdering all protesters.

Just a note, The Gwangju Incident is considered to be a riot backed up by the North Korean government in Ilbe.

    ReplyDelete
  59. The hate against EXO is not that serious though. EXO is more like how some Americans view Justin Bieber in USA. The hate against communism and liberal politicians is pretty tense though.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Nasty. You don't deserve to be called human beings if you aren't acting like one. Poor students who put effort on the posters but were eventually ripped because of some immature brats who hide behind the screen 24/7 doing nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Actually, the ones who ripped off the posters are actually students of that university themselves. They wrote about how the people who posted the "propaganda posters," as they call it, are an embarrassment to their school.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I fail to understand their purpose,,
    They are against everything!!!
They are against the government yet they are against the people !!!
Or am i not understanding things probably?!

    ReplyDelete
  63. They're not against the government. It's the ones who are posting the "How are you" posters that are against the current ruling government. Ilbe supports the current ruling government, which is why they took off the posters.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I know that, i mean illbe iusers aren't they against democracy ? Suddenly they approve of the governmet ? Their goals are not clear!

    ReplyDelete
  65. They're not against democracy. They've always been a supporter of current ruling government. They all voted for the current president Park Geun Hye last election. It's the people who posted these posters who claim that Ilbe and the current president are against democracy.

    ReplyDelete
  66. 4chan hides behind their anonymity, they're just as cowardly.

    ReplyDelete
  67. No, It's ㅇㅂ for 일베.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Isn't that backward? I thought it was, but it looked like ㅂㅇ, like in your picture, and that didn't make sense to me. But thank you for the clarification.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Hey going away from this main topic, but I hear negative feelings against 4chan and reddit. Why? I thought it was just some sort of meme factory haha

    ReplyDelete
  70. But what's wrong with 4chan?

    ReplyDelete
  71. What's up with the gang signs? Seems like they going out of their way to erase any benefit of doubt in anyone's mind about themself.

    ReplyDelete
  72. It's Ilbe's official sign to prove they did something. Without that, people won't believe that they did it and the post would get downvoted. For example, some people posted pictures of their acceptance letters from top ranking universities with that sign to prove the letter is theirs.

    ReplyDelete
  73. It's true though...
let's see them try something like this during the day. The students would get heated but where I'm from it'd end up being just "run up" lol

    ReplyDelete
  74. their anonymity is the basis of their existence, it's what 4chan is, which is why the Anonymous are powerful in their own right.

They WANT to be anonymous, it isn't out of fear homie.

You gotta look at it different ways.

4chan is loads fucked up, but not Ilbe fucked up. (yes we're gonna make it a level)

4chan has helped countries around the world fight censorship of the internet.

4chan has exposed lots of corrupt behavior too.

I mean they do fuck shit up and are sometimes dicks and such, but they aren't total extremists.

    ReplyDelete
  75. 4chan fucked their shit up.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I fail to see how hand posing it supposed to prove a trophy picture of something is authentic. Anyhow: This stuff is usually street and prison gang related, thugs use them not only to represent themselves, but to identify themselves to others of their kind. They probably originated in the Triads and the Yakuza back in the days, so I can only assume they have a somewhat negative connotation in the region as well.

    ReplyDelete
  77. That's probably the case in America, but not Korea. The sign is supposed to represent the alphabet ILB.

    ReplyDelete
  78. And these fellows hand spelling ILB because?

    ReplyDelete
  79. Like I said earlier, it's their official symbol and they use it to prove their authenticity. If they posted those pictures above without the hand spelling, people won't believe they did it and the post will get downvoted. Such is the same for acceptance letter, pictures from their trips abroad etc.

    ReplyDelete
  80. thankyou forthe info :))

    ReplyDelete
  81. So basicly the use of said hand posing is to represent themselves, and to identify themselves to others of their kind? - Somehow that sound oddly familiar.

    ReplyDelete
  82. It has nothing do with a gang. There is no such thing as a gang sign in Korea. Korean gangsters don't have any way of "representing" their gang like American gang members. I see that you are trying to Ilbe to some kind of criminal organization, but that is just downright ridiculous. Ilbe is just a black humor site with conservative right-wing ideology. Ilbe has been active for the last three years and it would have already been torn down if it had anything do with a criminal organization.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Lmao.. I met you here
    You know me?

    ReplyDelete
  84. No one, me including, claims that these fellows have the balls to be more than the anonymous keyboard warriors and attention whores they are.
But using hand signs in the way they do - whether they are aware of, or caring about, the connotation it have to criminal organizations or not - don't exactly improve their rather shady image to outsiders.

    ReplyDelete
  85. The thing is that nobody in Korea think of their sign as a gang sign. People who hate it do so because it's an Ilbe sign, not a gang sign. No one has any clue about American gangs using a similar sign. Ilbe doesn't care about improving their image. They already know they aren't well liked by liberals and have no plan to improve it. However, what is not known to outsiders, is that they don't just do all the negative things. Some of the times one of the most upvoted post would be about a guy doing their sign with a picture of himself adopting or rescuing a dog, doing a volunteer service, etc. Whatever they do, they are all united by their conservative right-wing ideology though. Earlier this summer, their was a lawyer Ilbe user who helped out a female Ilbe user who was sued by a person from a liberal community website.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Go fck yourself

    ReplyDelete
  87. Me too, i thought they were good ppl o-o

    ReplyDelete
  88. Imagine the internet as a small, peaceful town. Youtube is the local movie theater and freak show, Facebook and Twitter are the social gathering sites, and websites like Pentris are family restaurants. 4chan is the dark, creepy alley where you can come across zombie velociraptor ghost clowns raping children.

    ReplyDelete
  89. The site is also socially conservative too not just politically conservative. They comment a lot on "westernization" and haven't they also been associated with the Man of Korea group? I've always found this a very strange dichotomy, ilbe groups claim to be bastions of democracy and yet also support the subjugation of 50% of the populace. I guess people who support their ideas can't see the forest for the trees.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I realize the site started out as a "black humor" site but once it became a household word for aggressive conservative activism the dynamic changed. I'm sure it's true that mostly young people are aware of ilbe but that doesn't diminish their impact. After all young people are the future of S.Korea not the old, and the internet is their battle ground.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Isn't it funny that when your celebrities get into trouble with something ilbe related it isn't a big deal and knetz are overreacting? Now do you see why this is serious?

    ReplyDelete
  92. It appears that someone was sneaking out ,ripped down a few posters from the liberal camp under the cover of darkness and posted proof shoots of it, presumely hunting for thumps ups. It seems to me really pathetic and immature rather than serious. I can see why people disliking the site, its filled with cowards and arseholes by the looks of it.

    ReplyDelete
  93. This ILBE are coward LOSERS who are afraid to show their miserable faces!!

    ReplyDelete
  94. if you are going to rip posters....might as well do it in front of people during the day LOL

    ReplyDelete
  95. Even in Singapore, you would not get arrested for ripping a protest poster in two in the middle of the night. Putting up protest posters against the government? Well.....

    ReplyDelete
  96. Dude, I just realize somethin. Both of North Korea and South Korea is so scary.

    ReplyDelete
  97. They believe in their shit so much yet they're too pussy to do it in broad daylight...congrats...you ilbe's have won the bitch ass pussy of the year award...it was a tight one between u and lil wayne but somehow you made it on top.

    ReplyDelete
  98. I don't really understand... why are they ripping the posters in the first place?
Can somebody explain this to me?

    ReplyDelete
  99. I don't appreciate your tone

    ReplyDelete
  100. The posters are protesting against the policies of the current ruling government. Ilbe supports the current ruling government and considers the protest posters as an act instigated by Communist propaganda.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Their impact? lol. What impact? Ilbe doesn't have any impact. It's just a black humor site with conservative right wing ideology. It's just like how a lot of people believe the translated comments from Korean Internet on this site are general opinion of Korean population when most people in Korea don't care about celebrity life at all. Internet isn't everything.

    ReplyDelete
  102. trashy people will always support a trashy government...

    ReplyDelete
  103. If Park Geun Hye was trashy, she wouldn't have been elected in an election with 75.84% voting turnouts.

    ReplyDelete
  104. I think ilbe idiots don't know the meaning of communism....it is when ALL media is controlled..freedom of speech is non-existent -.-

    ReplyDelete
  105. They're aware, but they believe Korea currently has a freedom of speech and that the "How are you" protests are a bogus propaganda instigated by Communist propaganda. "How are you" protests basically accuse Park Geun Hye and her government of taking country back to dictatorship, which is absurd, really. The liberals of Korea have been saying and protesting about the same thing over and over again ever since the liberal Korean government ended in 2008 with the conservative President Lee Myung Bak coming into power. This is a never ending cycle. Liberals will always accuse of conservatives of being right-wing authoritarian regime while conservatives will always accuse of liberals of being Pro-Communist. One of the reasons people hate Ilbe is because Ilbe keeps making fun of the dead liberal presidents. Lee Myung Bak and Park Geun Hye are well-liked in Ilbe.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I'm not sure what exactly you mean by "westernization," but if you Ilbe supports that if you mean "modernization." They're not associated with "Man of Korea," but they do advocate their ideals. They never claimed to be the bastions of democracy. That is something claimed by the liberals because they believe the conservative politicians are trying to enforce the master plan of evil by turning the country into dictatorship and that liberals are the only ones who value democracy. Ilbe claimed to be be bastions of Capitalism as they believe liberals are trying to turn the country into Communism. I have no clue where you heard that from, but they do not support the subjugation of 50% of the populace.

    ReplyDelete
  107. [+568, -58] Why do they bother living. If they're so against it, why not put up their own poster retorting it... Too bad they have nothing to retort because what they're all saying is the truth.

Yes. This. I'm all for fighting for something you believe in even if I don't agree with their opinion but if you are going to do it at least RETORT with reasons on posters why they disagree with the poster instead of being a coward and ripping the posters because you have nothing to say against them. A bunch of losers....

[+30, -5] As expected of ilbe... How about a proof shot of your face ^^ Stop acting so strong while

also this. The college students aren't afraid to put up their posters and such so why should you be afraid?...I mean isn't it something you really believe in that you are right about...or do you know that it's wrong? despicable.

    ReplyDelete
  108. It wasn't on the news, but many of them did put up their own posters.

    ReplyDelete
  109. You seem to know a lot about them...I defer to your greater knowledge. Although I am a little curious about who you're talking about being a "sexual minority".

    ReplyDelete
  110. Okay, that's understandable. I thought ilbe's hate towards EXO vs. all the other points were of similar scale - I thought it was just stupid if that were the case.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I'm talking about gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender/transsexuals.

    ReplyDelete
  112. They're Korean ethnicity born in China, but they are little different than Korean Americans. Korean Americans are children of Korean immigrants from South Korea, so they speak in a South Korean accent when they speak Korean and consider South Korea to be the land of their mothers and ancestors. Korean Americans also speak English as their everyday language like every other Americans.

Korean Chinese are descendants of Korean immigrants during the Joseon Dynasty more than 100 years ago and the Japanese colonial era. Their ancestors mostly came from North Korea, so they speak in a North Korean accent when they speak Korean. Korean Chinese live in their own designated region inside China where the official language is Korean. They go to Korean schools and speak Korean as their everyday language, which is how they were able to preserve their language for so long. However, they consider themselves to be Chinese despite being fluent in Korean and using Korean most of their times.

    ReplyDelete
  113. I see. Well the last thing I want to do is get into an ideological grudge match with a Korean conservative. I don't know enough about Korean political ideology anyway. Actually I don't want to talk to other Americans about politics, social issues or religion most of the time. I find that the conversation often devolves into a big game of "I know I am but so are you", with a lot of name calling like Nazi, communist, demonic spawn from hell, lesbian, anti-christ, man hater, America hater, euro trash whore...that kind of stuff. It's not worth it because you really don't learn much from those kind of conversations.

    ReplyDelete
  114. I can't imagine why he would lose fans just because he supported a LGBT move. I think those fans are no great loss because they aren't willing to move forward and create a better world to live in so they are and instead he's gained more fans because he spoke out.

However, I doubt Jonghyun's sincerity when he does things like this. Probably for this one he is more sincere and genuinely cares but not with his Egypt DP on twitter he had before this. That really made me quite angry.
The only reason why he put on that Egypt DP is because at the same time he was under "controversy" for going out with a girl who everyone thought was from 9 Muses and so he was asking people to not dissect his every move and used the current popular issue everyone was talking about at the time to make a point.
Did he even know what it was about, what was going on, how many people lost their lives? If he really cared he would have spoken or tweeted more about it.

Same with this cause. It's OK to put up a DP but is he really going to make an active stand about it?
It's funny how Shawols are praising him to death for putting up a DP but I will only do that if he preaches, supports it more actively and sincerely.
Other people have made more active stands about LGBT in SK and only Jonghyun gets put on a pedestal by kpop fans because he is an idol.

    ReplyDelete
  115. That is exactly the same thing going on in Korea. Liberals will always accuse conservatives of being right-wing dictatorship like this case of "How are you" protests. The conservatives will always accuse liberals of being Communist and pro-North Korean. Both sides call each other Korea haters. Ilbe is often exaggerated by liberals as extreme right wings that wants to take country back to dictatorship, but that is definitely not the case. The most hated person in Ilbe is Kim Jong Un, the dictator of North Korea. Ilbe and the conservatives don't want anything do with North Korea, while the liberals want to establish friendly relation with North Korea. Ilbe and the conservatives are all for the American army in Korea, while the liberals don't like having foreign army in their country. The biggest reason why Ilbe gets all the hate and exaggerations is because Ilbe admires the former right-wing dictators before democracy settled in Korea. While Ilbe doesn't exactly support dictatorship, they love those right-wing dictators for being Super Anti-Communist. All of the right-wing dictators were backed up by American presidents of the time as well.

    ReplyDelete
  116. "Other people have made more active stands about LGBT in SK and only Jonghyun gets put on a pedestal by kpop fans because he is an idol."

LGBT rights have been a huge issue in S. Korea that has been swept under the rug. Other than a few SK celebs (the one that immediately comes to mind is Hong Seok-Cheon), I haven't heard of other K-celebs defending LGBT rights.

Besides, if you're doubting Jonghyun's sincerity, technically you should doubt all charitable organizations', other celebrities, rights activists' sincerity towards their respective causes because there are some who really do care about their cause meanwhile some are just bandwagon-ing onto the idea like what you're claiming Jonghyun is doing.

I don't know if he personally believes LGBT rights are important or not but, the fact that he's at least garnering peoples' interests onto an important topic isn't taking away from S. Korea's LGBT activists' stance.

  117. CD sales must be used as a point, regardless. but my key point is that hallyu is not as integrated into the chinese cultural fabric as in japan. how many dramas have been hits in china? compare this number with the number of k-dramas that did well in japan. second point is that tvxq (a group which is still below exile and arashi) can hold a nation-wide tour totaling 850000 people, but which kpop group can do something similar in china? how many have even attempted such a thing. japan counts for the majority of the hallyu industry's income, not china. the problem is that china has acccess to so many different entertainment forms, mandarin speakers have access to taiwan cinema, hong kong cinema (which often produces mandarin versions too), mainland cinema, they can often watch singaporean, malay and thai films too and a lot understand enough english to watch foreign films as well. there is simply too much competition, back in 2003/4 when k-dramas were 'new' then, of course, people like ahn jae wook were quite popular, but how badly has that popularity faded by now? actually, zhang ziyi is not as liked in china as zhao wei or michelle yeoh, its only recently, with the release of 'the grandmasters' that she has repaired her image slightly but people still cant forget her 2008 controversy (earthquake) and her 'cheating' controversy. besides, few in china think of her as a beauty since she doesnt fit their beauty standards. as for being popular abroad, china may have cared about global popularity as much as the koreans at one point in time but they dont anymore since there are many chinese 'world stars' by now. as for copying of variety shows, you mainly have to look at three things; a) is the tv channel hunan tv, cctv or zheijang tv? if not the show is irrelevant. b) plagiarism does not equal popularity, especially due to the fact that more people will be put off by the blatant copying if they liked the original. c) i am quite sure all nations now have singing contestant shows.

  118. Yes well America tends to back whoever is in charge in the name of non-interference and one hand washing the other. It's gotten us in quite a bit of trouble in some places like the middle east. We call it blowback. So South Korean conservatives are not in favor of reunification I would assume? They'd be more in favor of say wipe them all out and start from scratch? Or just leave them alone, the Kims will kill everyone off eventually anyway? So are Korean political conservatives also socially conservative like the majority of American conservatives?

    ReplyDelete
  119. South Korean conservatives are in favor of reunification, but they just want to wait until the day North Korea collapses by itself. Liberals, on the other hand, want to work together with North Korea on reunification. Two liberal presidents, Kim Dae Joong and No Moo Hyun tried this by aiding billions of dollars to North Korea from 2000 to 2007. The two became a mockery to the conservatives and especially Ilbe, because they think that the two basically helped North Korea to build nuclear weapons. Another reason why Ilbe is hated so much is because Ilbe keeps mocking the now deceased two liberal presidents, who are well liked by the liberals. Korean conservatives aren't fond of social welfare too much. Other than that, I don't think they are socially conservative in a way the Americans are. Homosexuality and religion aren't issues of politics in Korea. Korea only has a 1% non-Korean population, so race isn't an issue either.

  122. 1. Really? CD sales must be used to determine how many fans there are? So does that mean, just because Japan has more CD buyers than America, we can all just assume there are more "music fans" in Japan than in America? That's laughable.

    2. Yeah. Well... As soon as Korean dramas or movies air, Chinese subbed videos are uploaded on many websites, so there is no reason for China to buy the Korean dramas despite many Chinese viewers are actually interested in K-dramas [as frequently shown in Chinese search engine results]

    3. I wasn't talking about what Chinese people think about Zhang Ziyi. Rather what the rest of the world thinks, because you were blaming like it's only Koreans who think Zhang Ziyi is a top star in China. Ask Americans to name top actresses in China. I'm sure her name will pop up soon.

    4. What plagiarism? I didn't mention any plagiarism. The Chinese channel officially bought the format because they saw the potential of the show being popular. And some shows had success recently and there was actually a Chinese article that analyzed this phenomenon.

Wow, that is absolutely NOT the reason. It may be a part (the point in being that people assume the most ridiculous of things and that he's sick of all the flack he got ever since his accident), he wanted to highlight that rather than being concerned about his private life, journalists and media should be concerned about more important issues like the situation in Egypt.

What do you expect him to do? Run around naked holding up signs? As much as he might want to make a physical action about it, he is still under a management company who WILL restrict any possible action that could potentially harm his image. Rather than not doing anything at all, what else could he possibly do? Of course, this leaves him to put out his own thoughts in any available form or media he could possibly use, and that was Twitter.

You have said it yourself with his message to the LGBT director. His words there are a testament to his sincerity; he made sure to tell her/him and ask for her/his assurance about raising the issue (and bringing her/his name).

  125. lol i don't know what to say but we're clearly not talking about the same movie.

it's true i saw it a long, long time ago but i clearly remember that she had a miscarriage, a short time after he went to her house, talked to her parents and told them he plans to drop school(?) and get a job and MARRY her.

Their unborn baby was very important,a year after the death of the baby they went to the grave and talked about how they wanted to name it and so on,i don't remember the dialogue but i remember it was snowing and it was all pretty sad.

I don't remember how they fell in love, but i doubt he was a stalker,i think he was the ''bad boy'' of the school and she the ''good girl'', so they didn't get along in the beginning.

And it's true she was raped, but not by him. An ex-girlfriend of him, who was jealous, put some guys to rape Aragaki Yui, that ex was also threatening her.

After some time, Miura Haruma finds out he has cancer, and decides to leave Aragaki instead of telling her, but makes it look like Aragaki is the one who breaks up
After some months(?) she finds out he's sick and they spend a few more day together, then he dies. End.I suck when it comes to specking about movies/plots/etc,but thinking about it made me realize that i actually remember very well the entire movie, thought it's been 5 or 6 years?it sucks to be me,why i can remember a movie but not something i studied or learned in high school? Sigh,

    ReplyDelete
  128. That's one way of explaining it, haha

    ReplyDelete
  129. Both the conservatives and liberals support women's rights to the same degree. The current leader of the conservative Saenuri Party and the President of South Korea Park Geun Hye is a woman, so it's a no-brainer that the conservatives care a lot about women's rights. Ilbe is all for women's rights, too, but they don't like it when women's rights go too far in their perspective such as making women's only seats on buses, women only parking lots, women only rest area in universities, women only this and that etc.

    ReplyDelete
  130. You're right about the second part but don't you remember the beggining? I can't exactly recall it, but it they met through her phone. He stole it or something and started texting her everyday until they met on a pool, I think (wich is very stalker-ish if you ask me).
About the rape part, I wasn't talking about that scene. I was talking about how he invited her to his house when they started going out and on the very first date he kind of obligated her to have sex (they were on his room an all).
Ah. Now I remember soemthing else he did that pissed me off. When she got pregnant he dissapeared when he first knew the news. She then went to his house for a aprty (christmas party, I think?) for the first time since she got pregnant and found him hacing sex or making out with some other girl.
Then, at the very end, when she started to forget about him (thanks to the nice guy she met at uni) he suddenly called her and told her he was sick/on the hospital. She ditched everything (the nice guy included) and went to see him (I was very annoyed with her at that part)
The visiting their baby's grave part was at the very end, of course. The guy also asked her to marry him at the very end. She forgave everything he did because she was ~in love~

" why would she care for a stalker who raped her?"
becauseshe was foolishly in love with him and didn't care about these thigns? I though it was very dramatic when I first watched it, but now I realize that the guy was a douchebag and the girl was just stupid

  132. I thought women only spots on buses were for old ladies and pregnant women. I must have thought wrong. I also thought that women only subway cars and parking lots were a knee jerk attempt to curb groping and sexual harassment complaints. A laudable goal nonetheless. Men have no idea how annoying and scary it can be to find some strange man's hand on your ass or have to walk by a group of construction workers while they shout nasties at you.

I also need to point out that just because someone is a female doesn't necessarily make them an advocate of women's rights. Having said that, thanks for the information.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Women only spots on buses are for women of all ages and men are never allowed to sit there. I have no opinion on this women-only thing by the way. There are other kinds of matter in the women's rights issue but it's just too long to talk about, but one thing I can tell you is that Ilbe wants Korean women's rights to be just like Europe and America where there are no women only spots for everything.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Yeah but women only spots on buses should be the least of anyone's worries. That's not real women's rights it's just a shit show. Real women's rights would protect them on the job from being fired for getting married or pregnant. Real women's rights would actually prosecute gropers and institute enforceable domestic abuse laws. Real women's rights would guarantee them the same pay as a man for doing the same work. Those are examples of real women's rights. Segregating women on buses and in public spaces because you can't control the male population is just more misogynistic bullshit. So let them rail away....more trees no forest....

  136. Your points are exactly why Ilbe and many other people in Korea can't understand why the Ministry of Gender Equality exists. Ministry of Gender Equality is the ministry's English name, but the literal translation from the Korean name is Ministry of Women and Family. The minister and the people working in this department are always all women, but I don't remember the ministry doing something for any of the things you said so far ever since their foundation in the late 90s. Instead, they are wasting their tax money by making misogynistic women only spots(Korean women haven't got a clue that it's misogynistic), banning porn, and banning online games from children. They even recently talked about banning League of Legends to children because the female characters from the game were too inappropriate for children lol.

  138. Yeah it pretty much sounds like they are trying to "protect" women yet didn't I read that S.Korea has some 46,000 room salons, hourly motels and kissing rooms. The estimated count of sex workers in the country is somewhere between 100 and 200 thousand. Most of them women. Like I said being a woman doesn't necessarily mean you are for women's rights.

  139. Regarding his Egypt DP that stated' "Go photograph Egypt and show the world something important" How do you know that the dating 'scandal' is all he's reffering to? He can be talking about both, you don't know his reasoning. I don't understand why people assume he can't be aware of global situations? Is he dumb or ignorant?

"However, I doubt Jonghyun's sincerity when he does things like this.

if you acutally followed his twitter account, you would know he is very socailly aware. The tweets about changing the phone bill policy, encouraging fans to vote, the issue of sasaeng fans trying to sell his phone number etc.

I've seen alot of people attempt to diminish his sincerity . Although i agree that fans shouldn't be giving him excessive praise but thats what fangirls do, it doesn't mean he doesn't need any praise. While other idols are ruining their image on SNS we should applaud him for send a positive message being in a position of power.

  144. political and social differences :P ethnicity wise many many taiwanese (70%) are ethnically chinese. The way cultures function in the two places are quiet different. The political settings make the cultures different, and calling a person Chinese when they are Taiwanese can be offensive. in a way, you can compare England and America. America was a part of England but it broke off. It's kind of the equivalent of calling an American a Brit. If you get my gist? Same root, different countries, except that China/Taiwan thing was more recent. in a more extreme sense, its kind of (slightly, very slightly) like N. Korea and S. Korea.

  145. From what I see, I think she's really a mix-mix. When it comes to foreign policies, she's proved herself to be quite capable in standing up against North Korea's threats unlike any of her predecessors as well as in recent times, expanding Korea's ADIZ in response against China's, which has gotten a lot of flak from neighboring countries (Japan in particular).

Of course, when it comes to the youth unemployment, economy, social issues and that, it leaves a lot more to be desired, as well as the whole alleged election fraud issue. Her promise to give monthly pensions to elderly people turned out to be a sick joke because the govt. didn't have the adequate money, and selecting people who are not-so-great in her cabinet, not to mention her backpedaling regarding reforms against Korea's biggest businesses (despite getting CJ Group's CEO arrested for tax evasion)

Ultimately though, her presidency hasn't even lasted one year so it's pretty premature to judge her fully in the wide picture. So far, it's a mix-mix (though leaning a bit more on not doing a great job), but we'll just have to see in the future. After all, people thought Kim Youngsam and Lee Myungbak would make decent presidents, though it turned out to be the exact opposite later in their presidencies.

Personally, I think it's that she knows what has to be done, but simply is in the case that she bit off more than she could chew or has no idea how to execute things decisively (or worse, both). Long-shot though, I don't think there'll be any president in Korea who achieved as much as the military dictators did for the country (economically anyway). 5 years isn't much to get things done, especially in a heavily divided political climate.

Govt. being very heavily divided between conservatives and liberals isn't helping either, since both sides like to slander each other more than cooperating (kind of like what you see with Democrats vs Republicans in the US).

Park's quote of Korea not being fully ready for democracy, IMO, doesn't apply just to govt - I think he probably meant it on a general-wide scale on all aspects, especially if you include social issues Korea is faced with today.

  146. I get how you could see this like that, but think about it : even in America, there was a time when, even though you were not homophobic, saying you were not against LGBT was almost the same as saying you were one of them, and it was really dangerous being so at that time. So maybe it's more like that. Maybe not as much, but close enough.
