As a child, Pyo Ga Hee (21) suffered from retinoblastoma and had to receive chemotherapy that affected the way her facial structure and skin grew. Her face eventually became misshapen and imbalanced, and only the side that didn't receive the chemo developed properly.

Her single mother has also been suffering from breast cancer for six years. Pyo Ga Hee wanted to go to art college but gave it up instead to pay for her mother's treatments and studying to become a licensed dog groomer.
