Gummy's contract with YG expires

Article: [Exclusive] Following Se7en, Gummy's contract with YG also expires

Source: Oh My News via Nate

1. [+925, -39] Oh no... ㅠ.ㅠ I feel like YG is losing their original color and turning into the same agency as everyone else that only trains young kids... YG's unique color is beginning to disappear

2. [+941, -70] There's no female vocalist on the level of Gummy in the country... She's a card I'm sure they'll be sorry to lose. YG seems to be wanting to focus on training idols only now ㅋ What a disappointment. How could you not allow her to release an album, not even a mini, in three years... She's been waiting and then the contract just expires. Stop picking up rookies and release some albums for the artists you do have.

3. [+635, -29] Gummy why! why! why!

1. [+2,380, -97] YG, stop keeping useless kids like Kang Seung Yoon and Bang Yedam and work on renewing contracts with talents like her ㅡ ㅡ

2. [+2,058, -33] An unfortunate singer who got popular thanks to YG but also couldn't reach the top because of YG... Amnesia was an awesome song, I really hope she makes a comeback.

3. [+1,851, -20] People like Wheesung, Big Mama, Gummy, and M Boat along with 2NE1 and Big Bang did wonders in creating the image of YG not being idol focused like the other trash agencies but they're all gone now... I feel like YG is beginning to lose their sense of direction.

4. [+1,369, -13] So is YG only focusing on idols now;;;

5. [+1,170, -57] The biggest lie in history: we are YG family ㅋㅋㅋ

    this netizen.. are you me?

  3. I bet if Gangnam Style wasn't a hit, Psy would've been next out the door.

    ReplyDelete
  4. She was practically left in YG's doghouse. I hope she goes to another company that can actually utilize her talents instead of leaving her out to dry.

But..it doesnt mean that they're "family" . Same goes to SM Town,is there really a town? And same goes to JYP Nation too

  6. wake up YG! wake up!!

    ReplyDelete
  7. so she's not renewing the contract? oh, hopefully she'll find an agency that will actually promote her

she should find another agency that can promote her more
she has a beautiful voice but YG just watse her talent

    ReplyDelete
  9. actually, they created the name but the fans are the ones who hyped this "yg family" thing the most. Calling the ceo "papa yg" and shit

    ReplyDelete
  10. oh please people! YG ent. can always renew her contract.

Besides people actually think she isn't doing anything, she's been active people..walking in red carpets and having some solo performances

    ReplyDelete
  11. Hope she doesn't renew her contract and joins another agency that will actually promote her

    ReplyDelete
  12. yeah all this time shes neglected by YG. ugh. she couldve done a lot more.. :(

    ReplyDelete
  13. Her contract expires according to the news. But where is the news that is saying she is leaving YG? Too early to make conclusions that she will not renew or stay in YG without an exclusive contract.

    ReplyDelete
  14. The biggest lie lol "we are yg family"

    ReplyDelete
  15. "How could you not allow her to release an album, not even a mini, in three years... "

wow, really? poor her :( such a waste, really..

    ReplyDelete
  16. I really really hope that she'll not renew it. She better find an agency who'll promote her more.

    ReplyDelete
  17. it's the fans who thinks that they're family.not them

    ReplyDelete
  18. I hope that she'll find an agency that will allow her to shine even more and produce an awesome album! she has an amazing voice but she's so wasted in YG

    ReplyDelete
  19. This makes me worry for Tablo and Epik High though.

    ReplyDelete
  20. So is she renewing her contract or not? o.o

    ReplyDelete
  21. last reported, they were in discussion with her about whether or not she'll renew it

    ReplyDelete
  22. Lol people actually call him 'Papa YG'? Why??? O.o

    ReplyDelete
  23. i hope she signs with another agency. and i hope yg doesnt sit on akdong musician too long

    ReplyDelete
  24. SM artists alone can fill up the whole town. The point here is never media play with " so called family"
    it's all about business..

    ReplyDelete
  25. I think tbh that the YG "Family" is becoming one of those greedy money eaters seriously!! He only promotes mostly BIGBANG or 2NE1. I get that that they are popular, but you have other artists in your company as well that you need to let them shine too! :/

    ReplyDelete
  26. "It is
true that Gummy's contract has expired. However, Gummy has been with YG
Entertainment for over 10 years, and she's part of the family. Gummy is a
member of the YG Family just like Se7en and Jinusean are. Although
Se7en and Jinusean's contracts with YG Entertainment have expired, they
are still considered members of the YG Family. We are currently in
discussion with Gummy. We will respect whatever decision Gummy makes and
    continue to support her."

    ReplyDelete
  27. it doesn't say she isn't but yeah with YG ent. her contract did expire. Just like other celebs, they can always renew and pick up where they left off.

.. it's like when fans hear the word 'expired contract' they think YG just kicked her off to the curb, which isn't true.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Tablo is useful to YG as a composer/producer

    ReplyDelete
  29. Tablo's contract with YG is only 4 years long. No idea about Tukutz & Mithra, but their contracts are probably set to expire at around the same time.

I'm thinking that Epik High & PSY are the same in that they never intended to stay with YG for the duration of their careers.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I hope she signs with another agency .

    ReplyDelete
  31. i'm just hoping once she moves agencies,we'll get to hear more of her...

    ReplyDelete
  32. because he acts like a loving daddy...

    ReplyDelete
  33. And the past three years she didn't even got to release a mini-album?

Her voice is really unique and she looks so pretty, now as she actually is already popular she could've been really sucessful now and in the past few years.

Instead of this YG plans to make two boygroups and let their Traineelife be aired on TV so that the netizen should vote which one of the groups would debut (with the bandname 'winners') and which one should debut later/have member changes/be disbanded and won't ever debut.

What is with this messed up idea? Why can't he just focus on talented artists like Gummy which HAS already public recognition? And even through I preferred YG over the other two of the 'big three', I don't like their new songs either.

    ReplyDelete
  34. where did you see the word 'leaving' in the article?

    ReplyDelete
  35. I want her to go to another company. Her vocals are just sitting there basically when she is with YG. She needs a company who can promote her and give her albums and digital singles

    ReplyDelete
  36. PLEASE YG.. Renew Gummy's contract.... JAEBAL!! T__T

    ReplyDelete
  37. news has been around on naver that she's supposedly been meeting with other agencies...

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yg's contracts are short though, I don't think any of them have a contract that goes longer than 5 years.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'm a little nervous for her, but no matter what she does she'll always have a lot of support. She's just so talented!

Maybe she'll join YMC with Wheesung? ^.^

    ReplyDelete
  40. I agree with you, I always thought that as time went by YG never promoted her properly, although I've always liked the music they produced for her she wasn't valued enough (sorry for my english ): )

    ReplyDelete
  41. rumors are just rumors though....i need solid proof

    ReplyDelete
  42. sadly, yes they do... and taking some of his background into account it's infinitely creepy

    ReplyDelete
  43. hmm..guess we'll all have to wait and watch..

    ReplyDelete
  44. LOL, all those label stans need to realize no label has a family relationship with their employees, it's always bussiness for both parties and the labels getting the bigger part.

    ReplyDelete
  45. It's so weird because I've never heard any YG artists call him that. Big Bang & Se7en call him 'hyung'. 2NE1 calls him 'sajang-nim'. PSY calls him by his first name [because they have been friends for a long time]...

    ReplyDelete
  46. Just wait and see, Epik High will leave soon ;P

    ReplyDelete
  47. Because some contracts are TIME BOUND, it is natural for contracts to expire. I wonder what the big fuss is about YG not being a family because a contract expired. Contracts may be renewed. Also, people may choose to work together without the strict provisions of written contracts.

In YG's case, there are artists who do not have contracts and yet are still part of the company. I'll wait for news that Gummy actually is moving out before I get worked up over this. And even then, it's not like anybody got kicked out. There's a reason why artists' contracts are time-restricted. It's a protection and security for all parties.

    ReplyDelete
  48. fans made that nickname for him..

    ReplyDelete
  49. Well, I've only seen him act like that towards his own children. Which is understandable. A lot of people call him a 'ddal babo', after all. His daughter is adorable. :3

    ReplyDelete
  50. omg! yes, she's a cutie

    ReplyDelete
  51. omg i forgot that yedam is signed to yg. i'm scared now.

    ReplyDelete
  52. What is up with all the fuss, it's expired but we don't know if she's moved on or not? If you read YG's statement you would know that she'll always be a valuable part of their company and it's artists. It's up to her if she wants to leave but YG is still opening up their arms for her. Personally I think she should leave and explore her opportunities, her popularity has never really taken off which is a shame with a voice like hers.

    ReplyDelete
  53. She should go to another agency that will actually help her release another album, not only stack for image purposes...

    ReplyDelete
  54. Gummy leave I get it, YG thinks she not give him much money lol
Bigbang leave? YG will die. hahaha

    since 2007, I'm VIP
and all I know, YG just give stupid shit with media.
    lol what's family
SM, YG, JYP = that's all about money

    ReplyDelete
  55. notenglishspeakerJuly 9, 2013 at 12:18 PM

Butthurt YG stans downvoted you ._.

    ReplyDelete
  56. "YG, stop keeping useless kids like Kang Seung Yoon" idk about the other trainees but KSY was talented enough to debut within the months he was eliminated off Superstar K. Why YG left him in the basement to "train more" is beyond me, he is not idol group material imo. There had better not be anymore delays with his debut.

    ReplyDelete
  57. What ever Gummy decides to do from here on out, I'll support her. Makes no sense to get mad at YG for letting her contract expire. It's not like if it's gonna last forever anyway.

I just hope Gummy does what's best for her from here on out, whether it be singing with YG again, going to another company, or not sign with anyone at all.

    ReplyDelete
  58. i was wondering why she suddenly sang a song for an OST but i guess YG wanted to be able to say that he took care of her before her contract expires.
but an OST is not an album !
3 years... i hope she will find another agency, smaller will be the best imo.
but if YG reads the comments he will probably try to keep her in the company to maintain the family image.
i wish you the best Gummy ^^
Amnesia was indeed very good !

    ReplyDelete
  59. yg only loves Lee hi. as a BlackJack i really hate LH and the way YG try to push her

    ReplyDelete
  60. [+925, -39] Oh no... ㅠ.ㅠ I feel like YG is losing their original color and turning into the same agency as everyone else that only trains young kids... YG's unique color is beginning to disappear

This is likely to happen when you become a public company...I really want her to stay in YG but YG'd priority is now building its new generation for the next 5 -7 years with new debuts. IMO the best for her is to find a new agecy that promote her better. I'll support her whatever she decides..

    ReplyDelete
  61. i think this all stems from YG taking in GD and YB at what 12/13 (idk) and practically raising them and ultimately becoming a sort of parental figure during their childhoods. Not that they actually call him 'Papa YG' LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  62. You can hate whoever you want, but do you have to call yourself a blackjack? Funny because as a Blackjack and VIP, I find it easier to support Lee Hi.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Bald Mr.WorldwideJuly 9, 2013 at 12:23 PM

well, it's not like Gummy is sitting in YG and doing nothing at all.She is a vocal trainer in YG, she get paid for training those YG trainees. She participated in her own album production, released her Japanese album, she has duet with Daesung in Japan, attending event/fan meeting and she just did well with That winter soundtrack 'Snowflake'.The song was successful.I love Gummy and I enjoy her solo songs and collaboration with other YG artists so I will feel sad if she leave YG.Whatever decision she made, I will support her too.If she resign her contract with YG,then I hope YG at least gives her a full comeback cuz she is a really talented singer.<3

    ReplyDelete
  64. lol your username is bomb

    ReplyDelete
  65. YG keeps signing more and more new acts. I wish he would quit that stupid talent show and stop adding more acts. He needs to concentrate on the ones he already has. He can only focus on one at a time, and the more artists there are, the longer the rest have to wait for a comeback.

    ReplyDelete
  66. They're called 'YG Family' because they released 3 albums with songs by all of the people who were signed at the time: Why Be Normal, Best of YG Family, Famillennium.

The lyrics to 'Famillennium' say '우리는 YG Family' or 'We are YG Family'.

To be fair, they really were like a family back then. Not in the sense that one person was a 'father' like some YG stans like to think but they looked out for each other & stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  67. she (sort of) released a mini album tho.. But it's japanese LOL

    ReplyDelete
  68. I hope for her sake tht she joins a different agency. Or if she decides to renew her contract she deserves to be given more recognition and a chance to release some music.
Sadly, YG is srsly losing his touch in basically everything atm-at least imo. The schedules for his artists are so messed up, the 'exclusive' image of many of his artists is becoming pretty stale especially with his ridiculous media play, the selection process for the new boygroup 'winner' just really puts me off and basically i really haven't been impressed with any of the music tht was released so far...i knw he has some really good artists under his belt like akdong musician but i feel like he is compromising some of his elder artists like gummy, tablo etc. i think he needs to take a step back, re-evaluate a few things and fix this ish up.
Anyhooz, as a gummy fan, i'll support her decision no matter wht pathway she chooses. Her music is really wt matters at the end of the day.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Gummy wouldnt make money for YG anyways....while the other two are young AND talented and already have a public presence....how is it a msart decision to keep someone who is getting you nowhere ....her jpm album this year was good but it didnt sell AT ALL

    ReplyDelete
  70. Bald Mr.WorldwideJuly 9, 2013 at 12:25 PM

lol a lot of blackjacks are Hi-heel also.Lee Hi is a rookie, that's why YG put a lot of efforts to promote/bulid fanbase for her.

    ReplyDelete
  71. she wont...look at everyone who left YG and tried to go to another company....they all tanked...even thought YG didnt really use her....it was the best for her...i dont think another company will pick her up...a strong one that is

    ReplyDelete
  72. Ugh what happened to YG Family. T.T

YG should never have gone public. Godfuckingdammit.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Just like netizen says... She's lacked on media play and also proper promotions.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Kang Seung Yoon is useless...-_-..srsly k-netz? im excited over his debut the most..

    ReplyDelete
  75. Not Idol focused? Yeah, okay.

    ReplyDelete
  76. look at people who do the same genre as gummy in Korea...how popular are they compared to idols
? how much money are the bringing in?

    ReplyDelete
  77. Are you serious? we've waiting for 3 years for Tonight to came out, the Alive album is like a cheer up for the fans and also bb them self for what happened in 2011. besides they have gd, a producer and also an active song writer i think as long you can make a good song and produce it well you can release an album. se7en had a 2010 and 2011 comeback, as far as i know 2ne1 just made an album after hiatus for 2 years. gummy made an jap album 2011 and 2013.

yg said gd/bb will make comeback this year. but i dont trust that king of trolls. he always pushed the schedule.

i know that you disappointed but please dont bashed other group.

    ReplyDelete
  78. She was also on I Am Singer last year.

    ReplyDelete
  79. tablo isn't in yg to produce songs to idol groups

    ReplyDelete
  80. How so? I mean sure, the artists and the company seems platonic. But between the artists they still do resonate a family or some sort of close network of some sorts. More of a friend, brother-sister relationship between their artists.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Bald Mr.WorldwideJuly 9, 2013 at 12:31 PM

ya,I just listed those activities she did this year cuz there must be some people thought Gummy is doing nothing at all.

    ReplyDelete
  82. "Winner" is the most horrible name ever for a group. I pray that it was a mistranslation somewhere and they don't get stuck with the embarrassing name of "Winner" for the rest of their careers.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I wasn't one of these people praising her to death for being one of the best korean singers until I heard her OST for Daemul. It is beautifully heartbreaking <3
A singer who can make you feel the sadness of love like this do not deserve to be thrown out. Like seriously ...

    ReplyDelete
  84. I think Tablo and Epik High a bit different since they can produce their own songs.Like 2NE1 they don't have to wait for Teddy to write and compose a song for them..

    ReplyDelete
  85. Bald Mr.WorldwideJuly 9, 2013 at 12:34 PM

haha I'm a YG artists fan but I never call him 'Papa YG' tho..I address him 'CEO YANG' like what 2NE1/BB call him.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Why did you use the words "thrown out?" Just asking. I'd like to know.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Everybody calm your shit, there's no words on her leaving YG yet.
YG seriously needs to get all his artists active, get a bigger team management!!

    ReplyDelete
  88. of course... because theyre singing just because for the sake of money. interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  89. He already played semi-Battle Royale when Big Bang was being formed when he could have just kept both Hyunseung and Seungri. I'm not surprised he's doing this with the new boyband. Ruthless as ever.

    ReplyDelete
  90. 1. [+2,380, -97] YG, stop keeping useless kids like Kang Seung Yoon and Bang Yedam and work on renewing contracts with talents like her ㅡ ㅡ

    ----
    >.> woah that's quite harsh... though i must say i wish YG would have let her release more songs and promote more

    ReplyDelete
  91. Bald Mr.WorldwideJuly 9, 2013 at 12:38 PM

I'm also surprised by this comment's upvotes! I thought the kid is talented and a lot of people are anticipating for his debut since I checked the comments in past articles, they were whining about why YG hasnt debut this kid.

    ReplyDelete
  92. YG should have focused more on Gummy rather than release shit songs like Baddest female and Michigo.. She is so bloody talented and she needs an agency which wont neglect her for younger people.

    ReplyDelete
  93. The artists do get along like a family, but YG Entertainment is being run like a company. They're prioritizing money & image over everything else & released their own type of music despite the fact that the trends those days were trot singers & pop idols.

Yang Hyun Suk is the majority shareholder in YG, & his brother owns the second-largest amount of shares, but they cannot afford to lose the support of their investors.

Their weakness, as a company, is that their largest commodity is Big Bang. What's that saying? 'Don't put all your fruit in one basket'? Something like that.

I remember reading somewhere that YG has suffered some stock losses recently. Not good at all, considering that YG doesn't exactly have a lot of powerful ties. People can argue that SM Entertainment also suffered losses, but SM has powerful ties to chaebols & politicians. YG does not.

    ReplyDelete
  94. SHINeeGirlinSHINeeWorldJuly 9, 2013 at 12:40 PM

To be honest though, out of all the top labels I would say YG and JYP are the most family-like... they like money, yeah but we need to realize every idol/singer/entertainer/whatever has an expiration date... not to mention, YG contracts are shorter than others (like SM's for example) so yeah :/...

    ReplyDelete
  95. I thought MichGO wasn't an official release? It was released on Line right?

    ReplyDelete
  96. agreed. It'd be quite embarrassing if 'winner' ends up losing at some award show or wtev..the name is just so pretentious...

    ReplyDelete
  97. If you can remember, since you are a Blackjack, VIPS were also pissed when 2NE1 first debuted because YG kept pushing 2NE1. 2NE1 was hyped as the 'female Big Bang' & their first song was a duet with them.

    ReplyDelete
  98. i like 2ne1 and i support them. so i'm a Blackjack.
i don't need to like Lee Hi ok? why 2ne1'sfan need like another. F*cking annoy

    ReplyDelete
  99. SHINeeGirlinSHINeeWorldJuly 9, 2013 at 12:42 PM

Winner is the worst name? Then you probably don't know that MBLAQ means music boys live in absolute quality XD <-like dafuq

    ReplyDelete
  100. She has been with yg for 10 years in the article if people bothered to read it said that they will respect Gummy's decision if she chooses not to renew her contract with them....Her Japan promotion were a complete successful most people here are not even fans of Gummy and don't know of her successful Gummy has never made YG a shit load of money yet she has still been with YG for 10 years so i don't think he is kicking her out her contract has ended now it's up to her what she wishes to do

    ReplyDelete
  101. atleast now gummy can go to a company that will actually appreciate her

    ReplyDelete
  102. But her Japan promotion was a complete success and so was her OST....

    ReplyDelete
  103. No he wouldn't. YG and PSY have been friends for a very long time, they helped each other out during hard times. PSY isn't a good businessman, he went bankrupt before and he was very grateful to have the safety net YGE provided when they signed him.

It ended up being an amazing deal for YGE because of the international success, but really PSY would have earned his keep even without it. He had enough of a fanbase before Gangnam Style to do OK for himself and the agency.

That said, I agree that YG can be just hardnosed as any businessman with artists who are not his friends.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Omg I try not to think about it. T.T

    ReplyDelete
  105. lol have you looked at kpop? Shinee, creal, chi chi, HAM, BAP lol

    ReplyDelete
  106. I think people lack reading comprehension it clearly states that her contract has ''EXPIRED'' it does not state that she wishes to leave so until their is news of her leaving then people should start jumping to conclusions

    ReplyDelete
  107. But BIGBANG and 2NE1 are popular as of now while the other artists on the YG company r pretty much under the shadow :/

    ReplyDelete
  108. People, the article just says that Gummy's contract with YG expires. It DOES NOT say that YG will NOT renew Gummy's contract. Plus, the relationships in the company are fairly strong and bonded. Maybe that'll be a factor, plus Gummy's mad singing skills, for her to be back under YG.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Bald Mr.WorldwideJuly 9, 2013 at 12:46 PM

What thrown out? Her contract is expired since YG contracts are usually short.

    ReplyDelete
  110. I totally agree with you, my friend.

    ReplyDelete
  111. SHINee isn't that bad, but Chi Chi made me laugh. And if BAP ever debuted in the US people would conjur up the memory of that movie BAPS.

    ReplyDelete
  112. The contract has expired just like any other company contract would.. You people are acting like YG kicked her out or something lol

    ReplyDelete
  113. SHINeeGirlinSHINeeWorldJuly 9, 2013 at 12:47 PM

That can mean anything though. Similar to Davichi's case in CCM, they left the company with hopes of joining a new company (Actually make one) but then they crawled back to the company cause they realized it was best to.
Until Gummy actually signs, we can just leave it at 'her contract expired with YG'.
Plus YG said they were talking with Gummy and she's still apart of the 'family' so...

    ReplyDelete
  114. SHINeeGirlinSHINeeWorldJuly 9, 2013 at 12:47 PM

Chi Chi XD... isn't that breasts in Japanese AND Spanish? Double whammy.

    ReplyDelete
  115. I don't know sorry, but I'm just generally on about YG making songs like those instead of making decent ones for Gummy. Don't get me wrong, CL and GD are both amazingly talented too but those songs didn't really show their talent much either.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Michigo is not an official release. It was done for LINE and the MV was shot just to be shown in GD's tour. The mv wad released later because of intensive demand from fans..

    ReplyDelete
  117. You forgot Bikiny

    ReplyDelete
  118. Okay I'll just change 'release' to 'make' ..

    ReplyDelete
  119. Don't forget the old school ones papaya, milk, hot, God,.baby.vox, fink l

    ReplyDelete
  120. 'Rumors are floating around that Gummy will choose not to renew her contract with YG Entertainment and move on to another agency. A representative revealed,"Gummy recently held meetings with various agencies. Rather than renewing her contract, Gummy is leaning towards signing with a new agency."

A YG Entertainment representative responded, "It is true that Gummy's contract has expired. However, Gummy has been with YG Entertainment for over 10 years, and she's part of the family. Gummy is a member of the YG Family just like Se7en and Jinusean are. Although Se7en and Jinusean's contracts with YG Entertainment have expired, they are still considered members of the YG Family. We are currently in discussion with Gummy. We will respect whatever decision Gummy makes and continue to support her."

yh everyone shouldn't be jumping to conclusions tht she would leave if it hasn't been definitely confirmed, but the agency themselves are hinting tht she might..

Most entertainment companies can't handle with that themselves... like with SM, there's an extremely talented singer named J-Min and she hasn't had a comeback since 2008.

And JYP prior to Nickhun had 2PM locked up for 2 years.

It's not as easy as it sounds.

    ReplyDelete
  122. People on here are not even fans of Gummy and they no nothing about her... If you must know Gummy is a vocal trainer in YG not only that but her OST ''Snowflake'' was a great success and so was her Japanese promotions people think all she has been doing is rotting in ygent when in fact she is doing really well for herself so people just get your facts straight

    ReplyDelete
  123. i wouldn't have resigned with YG either. Theyve barely even acknowledged her existence these past few years

    ReplyDelete
  124. J-min was active in japan rite?

    ReplyDelete
  125. Oh god you do know that before GS, Psy was already very popular in SK....PSY was very successful and well known in SK so their is no reason for YG to kick him out... And YG did not kick Gummy to the curb ..Her contract has expired just like any other idols would

  126. SHINeeGirlinSHINeeWorldJuly 9, 2013 at 12:54 PM

    Exactly.
Even though it said she was looking around, that doesn't mean anything yet.

  127. SHINeeGirlinSHINeeWorldJuly 9, 2013 at 12:54 PM

Yeah but Gummy also had something out in Japan during the 3 year Korean hiatus, so...

    ReplyDelete
  128. yeh i knw..i was just wondering :)
i really like her she's so amazing..hope she has a comeback in korea soon. the 'stand up' ost last year was awesome..

    ReplyDelete
  129. Is not their fault they have good songs and have big fandom to support them. besides, Psy over BB and 21 shadows ever since gangnam style became super famous. its all back to the listener

    ReplyDelete
  130. In case that she is thrown out but I will edit my comment if that bothers you.

    ReplyDelete
  131. SHINeeGirlinSHINeeWorldJuly 9, 2013 at 12:59 PM

    Agreed! She's AMAZING

    ReplyDelete
  132. he's with lydia paek all the time though. pretty sure they're writing song for idols. lol. p.s// is lee hi/kang seung yoon an idol?

    ReplyDelete
  133. I'm glad Gummy is finally free. Now she can go to a smaller agency and do the work she actually wanted to do, rather then training trainees and getting trapped in the dungeons.

    ReplyDelete
  134. In terms of Korean promotions, she was left out to dry. Sure, she had two OSTs and several appearances on I Am A Singer, but YG didn't capitalize on her popularity in Korea after she released 'Because You're A Man.'

    ReplyDelete
  135. Damn I became a fan of her after hearing her in "I Am A Singer"
YG will be sorry to lose her :/

    ReplyDelete
  136. This is sad i'll miss gummy but if she wants to leave YG shouldn't force her to stay. One of the reasons why YGE has never had any problems/been sued by their past artist. No slave contracts. But once apart of YG always YG.

    ReplyDelete
  137. You're doing the same thing VIPs did to Blackjacks. VIPs were mad at YG for pushing 2NE1 when they first debuted, but look where they are now? You're a Blackjack. You should know this. 2NE1 got even more shit because they had a duet with Big Bang, but it was put on 2NE1's album and not on BB's.

Besides, why shouldn't a company push their rookies? Would you rather them just send their rookies out there with no support at all? If you're not gonna support them, why even bother to debut them.

And you seem to forget this is Lee Ha Yi, the 2nd runner up for Kpop Star S1, we're talking about. If YG didn't push her, he would've gotten shit from people who supported her while she was on the show. Look at the KSY situation. Every time there's an article about YG and his media play about the new groups/comebacks, you always see people asking about when he's gonna debut and getting angry at YG for not doing so.

    ReplyDelete
  138. and there would be nothing wrong with that..?

yg is a business. at the end of the day, they're about profit. There are no record labels out there who keep deadweights.

people in this post sound really naive throwing around the 'family' thing. That's just a pr image.

    ReplyDelete
  139. lol at people pretending to care yet i bet can't even recall a song of her's. so what if her contract expired. big bang has expired before. it doesnt say YG isn't going to renew. maybe they're waiting till they are capable of making a grand comeback for her to sign new terms.

    ReplyDelete
  140. I'm not sure how long you have been in kpop but if you haven't been into it long, the reason you can't recall a song of her's is because YG hasn't promoted her...she only released an ost or 2 since 2010. She did something in Japan too but nothing big...her last ost was for the winter that blows drama called "snowflake" and it charted high on the charts...so it would be a loss for YG to lose an experienced singer like her. but I don't think she will leave...she has been with the company for a long time and even if she isn't releasing stuff as frequently I'm sure she is working behind the scenes as a vocal coach and stuff. I think this is just noise marketing...

    ReplyDelete
  141. sorry for riding your comment. is there any korean here in NB? can anyone tell me how big Gummy is in SK? I always get the idea that she's not that successful. And in this article http://netizenbuzz.blogspot.com/2013/04/bestiz-map-of-female-artistsgirl-groups.html you can see how small Gummy is but in the comments above "There's no female vocalist on the level of Gummy in the country" have 900 upvotes. I'm confused.

    ReplyDelete
  142. I know but i'm greedy lol I want another mini or full album! "snowflake" is such a great OST

    1. [+2,380, -97] YG, stop keeping useless kids like Kang Seung Yoon and Bang Yedam and work on renewing contracts with talents like her ㅡ ㅡ

Seriously useless ?? They are super talented ! They both have n awesome voice and BYD with a bit of training he is going to be amazing ! Btw why hasn't anybody tought that maybe she will renew her contract, she's been in YG like forever !

    ReplyDelete
  144. Tablo is too valuable to YG. If it wasn't for his contribution, Lee Hi wouldn't have been able to debut when she did. Teddy is too busy with 2ne1, Choice and GD have been teaming up most of the time for his solo album, and lydia is better with music direction than writing songs. Also, Tablo previously mentioned he might be writing for the new girl group too, so YG kind of needs him right now tbh. I don't think he'll be going anywhere soon.

    ReplyDelete
  145. the fact that this article came out means the contract was not renewed. if both parties have any intention of renewing the contract, it will happen before the expired date comes.

besides I think that this news was released from YG side, which seems to me that they kind of got rid of her.

    ReplyDelete
  146. [+1,170, -57] The biggest lie in history: we are YG family ㅋㅋㅋ

    THIS!!!

    ReplyDelete
  147. Although she did all this, I feel like the only thing we really got to see from her was Snowflake. Japanese activities usually stay within Japan and they're hard to keep up with

    ReplyDelete
  148. can't wait for that day , i miss my babies

    ReplyDelete
  149. She deserved to shine more than she has. She wasn't really promoted well enough. If it wasn't for YG family concert, I wouldn't have even known much about her. Yet she's an amazing singer!

From a business perspective, it's smart for YG to concentrate more on the artist that is most hyped, rather than the artist that is most talented. But it just seems unfortunate for those really talented artists, who deserve a real chance to shine. I wish Gummy was given that opportunity to really be promoted. I hope she does continue on as a singer. I think she is talented enough to continue on to eventually become like the female Cho Yong Pil.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Oh wow, didn't know she was a vocal coach. (I really need to change my dp XD)

    ReplyDelete
  151. Bald Mr.WorldwideJuly 9, 2013 at 1:53 PM

of course she is.She also trained Daesung before.

    ReplyDelete
  152. "2. [+941, -70] There's no female vocalist on the level of Gummy in the
    country
... She's a card I'm sure they'll be sorry to lose. YG seems to
be wanting to focus on training idols only now ㅋ What a disappointment.
How could you not allow her to release an album, not even a mini, in
three years... She's been waiting and then the contract just expires.
Stop picking up rookies and release some albums for the artists you do
    have."

I like Gummy and all but this is FAR from being delusional. The B.E.S.T vocalist in South Korea is hands down Miss Sohyang. There are no if ands or buts about it. She is the b.e.s.t and that's fact. No one can resonate like her nor have as good of a mix, head voice or as good of intonation or delivery that she posses. Now as for the other parts of the comment...totally agree. YG is focusing way too much on this "strange" concept that they're trying to pursue as opposed to being unique, creative and an individualist like they have in the past. Big Mama and Gummy will be great vocal losses to YG. Perhaps Lee Hi will improve.

    ReplyDelete
  153. people is taking this like soo tragic, she will renwe her contract, just take it easy

    ReplyDelete
  154. Bald Mr.WorldwideJuly 9, 2013 at 1:57 PM

I know, most of the kpop fans dont bother to check up other singer's Japan releases except their biases but there are actually a lot of good releases too..I just pointed out she has her own solo activities too, those activities outside of Korea should be counted.

    ReplyDelete
  155. but her name was in YG who's next teaser. I was excited for nothing then.
just as much as the lack of music from Gummy these days I don't think other major company could handle Gummy. Most of the company only follow the trend that mostly set by YG these days.

I miss it when Gummy still active and gave a lively performances and collab with her circle of friend such as Lena Park, Bobby Kim, Hwayobi, Big Mama, Lyn, park hyo shin, wheesung, etc. that's when her music is still pure rnb.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Gummy have ALOT of decents songs!!, she ususally do her own songs..

    ReplyDelete
  157. she is active but in Japan..., he did great there

    ReplyDelete
  158. Delusional .I'm sure that BIG BANG and 2NE1 have long contracts as well

    ReplyDelete
  159. Bald Mr.WorldwideJuly 9, 2013 at 2:02 PM

agree with you,she deserves more promotions and opportunities but YG really has a lot of artists under the label to handle, too much for them..They need to hire more producers..Anyway, all I wrote was just to let people know that Gummy isnt got no activities in this 2 years at all, she had,it's just that she deserves more.

    ReplyDelete
  160. YG was alwys greedy.Good thing that you only realise it now

    ReplyDelete
  161. I think artists should be aware that they have expiration dates, so they have to save as much as they can, like Joon, and acquire more or different skills. For Gummy she can be YG´s vocal coach, a composer or release OSTs. She and some people should not expect her to be a huge celeb, she´s respected for her talent but she´s never been big or the top earner of the company.
Also, don´t blame YG too much, first and foremost it´s a business employing a lot of people. 2ne1 took so much time to release anything even if they are among the company´s top earners, so we can also understand if Gummy is not a priority.

    ReplyDelete
  162. I know that (btw her japanese album is really nice), but the YG who's next teaser was supposed to be Korean release only right?! that's why there was no Lee Hi who's planned to debut in Japan. that's why I was expecting a korean comeback.

    ReplyDelete
  163. yep agree, just lets wait if she renew her contract, and also 2ne1 contrac will expire next year too

    ReplyDelete
  164. Oh my....Lena Park, Hwayobi, Big Mama, Lyn and PARK HYO SHIN?

    ReplyDelete
  165. she only did one song in korea, and she have been months in japan, that why I did not expected a comback, and also they said she was helping supearls...

    ReplyDelete
  166. the teaser came out after her single and lee hi album, and yet Gummy's name was there and Lee Hi not. So I assume . .

    ReplyDelete
  167. mmm nop is not, ususally theu make a an artocle when de contract end, and other article when the contract is renewed. I think hte news was out bcuz of 7 thing, so they now are comparing it.

    ReplyDelete
  168. mmmm I think u need to make a reseach too, Gummy make in 2011 a japanese debut, and a comback this year... and she is doing great there, she even did a duet with daeusng, I think some times K-pop fans dont search their fav relese in japan....

    ReplyDelete
  169. I think 2ne1´s contract will be renewed, they still have a lot of marketability left.

    ReplyDelete
  170. I really did not like how I said she was in japan, I saw a tv show with her, and other interview with her and daesung in that time,.... that why I was not surprised

    ReplyDelete
  171. 1. [+2,380, -97] YG, stop keeping useless kids like Kang Seung Yoon and
Bang Yedam and work on renewing contracts with talents like her ㅡ ㅡ

    ReplyDelete
  172. yep I knpw IF they want to, but people is acting like is YG fauel, he will mke a offer, and then the artist will dicided what they want

    ReplyDelete
  173. I think PSY choose YG not because he wanna be more popular but he wanna freedom that YG give him. We can all see Psy is different lvl. And i think Gummy might wanna make change in her career life. I bet she wanna get married etc. Why people making so big fuss about this when it's Gummy choice too. If she wanna change agency change. If YG don't wanna her right now it's ok too.

    ReplyDelete
  174. more like PLEASE GUMMY RENEW UR CONTRACT WITH YG, this time YG is the one that have to wait what she said

    ReplyDelete
  175. yeah. I have a folder full of their collabs and performance. it's just great. they all have a distinct character yet they could blend so well. argh so lovely. and they enjoy the stage so much.

Bigbang's contract usually is not more than 5 years.

    ReplyDelete
  177. Nop is not true she is a vocal coach in YG, ( she trained daesung and supearls, and helped Lee hi), she make songs in japan in 2011, also participate in I'm a singer in 20011, and OST for korea this year, with a new japanese album that did great in japan, also have a duet with daeusng.

    ReplyDelete
  178. 5 year contracts all of them ( only 7 have 2 year contact becuz of the army). and 2ne1 contract is goin to expire next year too.

    ReplyDelete
  179. It's just a name. YGfamily, JYPnation, SMtown. Every label probably has the same relationship. The YGfamily name just stuck and I think YG chose it cause in general YGE is very exclusive and more private, hence the name family.

    ReplyDelete
  180. YG contracts are 5 years, the artist is the one that dicide if they want to renew them, YG dont have any problem if they want to change,...

    ReplyDelete
  181. I wish Gummy stay in YG. She's my fave female soloist. :)

    ReplyDelete
  182. Is anyone here know about Big Mama and how good their songs was? They are really good. I've been a fan since they sing for " A Moment To Remember". Too bad, they decide to split.

O snap...... but yea most k-VIPs and k-BJs already hate YG in the first place.

    ReplyDelete
  187. I actually prefer Lena Park.

    ReplyDelete
  188. J-Min has always just been active in Japan and occasionally releases OST's in SK. She actually did have a single comeback last year in Japan too. Do some research before you write.

    ReplyDelete
  189. Family and Company are two kind different things. At the end of the day, money never lies, people do.

    ReplyDelete
  190. Gummy is a jewel I'm sure another entertainment company will have her...such a shame and I agree..YG is indeed losing it's color...don't do it YG....renew her contract...wow he really did gummy grimey if he doesn't....3 years and not 1 single album:S

    ReplyDelete
  191. I hate how Korean agencies tend to ignore their old artists and keep focusing on young idols. Real artist are being overshadowed by idols who sometimes dose not deserve all the attention. ._.
But wait ! Did YG confirmed that he wont re-new he contract ?

    ReplyDelete
  192. I think this time is not in YG hands but in gummy hands, I'm sure YG make an offer , we have to wait if she say yes or no. For me some times is better a bad one, that we know, that a new one and we dont know how will become. I love gummy and I want the best for her, u know all YG female vocalist that left the company dont go well after that. I hope she do the best for her.

Nop her last korean album was 2010
in 2011 she made her japase debut
in 2012 she won some awards there, and help trainning in YG ( vocal coach)
2013: korean single, japase album ( that did very well, also had a duet with daesung.

    ReplyDelete
  193. Nop they said they have a meeting ( isuppose they make an offer to her), and know she is the one that have to decide, YG is waiting for her... they said she always will be YG family memeber.

YG Entertainment representative responded, "It is true that Gummy's contract has expired.

    ReplyDelete
  194. I wonder if she'll stay and either way, I just want her to be able to keep on singing and coming back soon!

    ReplyDelete
