Article: [Exclusive] Goo Hara starring in a popular Japanese drama brings out anti-Korean sentiment

Goo Hara starred in Fukuyama Masaharu's drama 'Galileo' and called it an honor to be able to work in such a popular drama. Japanese netizens started accusing Fuji TV of using Hallyu to raise their viewer ratings, commenting, "They're forcing Hallyu for the viewer ratings", "Fuji TV is going strong for the popularity", and "If the show gets high viewer ratings, the Korean Japanese will feel more powerful."

A TV magazine editor wrote, "'Galileo' has been achieving over 20% in viewer ratings so there's no point in adding Goo Hara to the line-up because the drama's already popular and Hallyu is on the downfall. This can only be seen as Fuji TV forcing themselves to support the Hallyu wave."

Another Hallyu magazine journalist claimed, "It's not Fuji TV but rather Fukuyama's agency CEO. He is the one who brought over Korean movies like 'Shiri' and 'JSA' and made them hits in Japan. He is the leader of the Hallyu wave. I believe that the CEO is now trying to break Korean musicals into the Japanese market and is thus focusing on the Hallyu wave even more now."

1. [+452, -19] Japan always claims that they're a peaceful country without any racism but they've basically proven that they treat the Korean Japanese like less than animals. They're such two faced people.

2. [+272, -16] "If the show gets high viewer ratings, the Korean Japanese will feel more powerful." - So are you admitting that you're scared, you fu*ker?

3. [+179, -13] I can see why they'd be feeling the pressure over Goo Hara in the drama, though. The second she appeared on the screen, the viewer ratings skyrocketed and Fuji TV ended up taking #1 out of the 7 broadcast channels, overtaking even NHK. The SNS hot keyword was also 'Hara' in 5th place. All of this achieved with only a 50 second appearance so I can see why they feel intimidated by her.

4. [+380, -39] I'm against idols in dramas as well but... the reason those Japanese are naming for Hara don't make any sense ㅡㅡ;; Hara-ya, don't be intimidated by them and just push forward. We have your back.

5. [+287, -13] I hate how we all want to cut relations with Japan forever but reality says we can't!

6. [+154, -1] The most ridiculous argument ever... Then can we argue that Fuji Mina is trying to take over the world by spreading Japanese culture through her participation in WGM Global???

7. [+158, -17] At this point, I can only hope that Goo Hara will use her poor acting skills to fill the Japanese viewers with frustration and stress, thereby shortening their life spans.
