SM Entertainment's Lee Soo Man: Entered the entertainment market in 1992 with Hyun Jin Young's all time hit 'You in Hazy Memory' before producing H.O.T. in '96 and starting an idol market continued by S.E.S, Shinhwa, Fly to the Sky, Blackbeat, Milk, Shinbi, BoA, TVXQ, SHINee, Super Junior, SNSD, f(x), EXO, and more.

YG Family's Yang Hyun Suk: Originally a member of the legendary Seo Taiji and Kids, Yang Hyun Suk started a new career as a CEO with the debut of a male trio group named Keep Six in 1996 immediately after the disbandment of Seo Taiji and Kids. He then debuted other acts like Jinusean, 1TYM, Se7en, Big Bang, 2NE1, and more. His most recent hit is Psy's worldwide song "Gangnam Style", which catapulted him into the #1 idol market position with SM.

DSP Entertainment's Lee Ho Yeon: Started the company in 1996 with the hit of his first idol duo team 'IDOL' before going on to produce Sechs Kies, Fin KL, Click B, SS501, KARA, Rainbow, A-JAX, and more.

Cube Entertainment's Hong Seung Sung: Branched off from JYP to produce B2ST and 4minute. Recently, Gag Concert's Kim Giri joined the company.

JYP Entertainment's Park Jin Young: Although the company has a different CEO, there's no questioning his position as head of the company. With the success of g.o.d. in the 90s, he went on to debut acts like Rain, Noeul, Byul, the Wonder Girls, 2PM, 2AM, miss A, and more.

Core Contents Media's Kim Kwang Soo: Started as the manager for 80s superstars Jun Young Rok and Kim Wan Sun before starting his own company. Went on to produce Supernova, T-ara, Seeya, Davichi, Co-Ed, and more. A rare case of someone managing two generations of stars, considering that T-ara's Boram is the daughter of Jun Young Rok.

J. Tune Camp's Jo Dong Won: MBLAQ's CEO. Co-CEO with Rain while he's serving in the army.

NH Media's Kim Nam Hee: Produced U.N. and Paran in the past, currently promoting U-KISS. Previously headlined for marrying actress Bang Eun Hee.

FNC Music's Han Sung Ho: F.T Island, CNBLUE

Pledis Entertainment's Han Sung Soo: After School, Son Dambi, NU'EST, Hello Venus, and an upcoming 17 member boy group. He is one of the younger CEOs.

Starship Entertainment's Kim Shi Dae: SISTAR, K. Will, Boyfriend. Everyone thought he was a female CEO because of his feminine name but he's actually a male.

Star Empire's Shin Joo Hak: Jewelry, V.O.S., ZE:A, Nine Muses

Woollim Entertainment's Lee Joong Yub: Originally started as a manager for Lee Seung Hwan before going on to produce Nell, Jisun, Epik High, and his first idol group, INFINITE. 'School 2013' actor Kwak Jung Wook is also managed under him.

TOP Media's Andy: Popular member of Shinhwa. Launched his company with the debut of male duo 'Jump' before going on to the successful debut of TEEN TOP and their juniors, 100%.

Nice to know the people behind idol groups. YG has the most bizarre looking eyes and eyebrows. Pledis' CEO is cute. I wonder how much they make?
ReplyDeleteDA BOSS LEE SOO MAN! YEAH MAN!
ReplyDeleteFunny how my goddesses CSJH and girls from SNSD are not on the list while irrelevant group like fx does.
ReplyDeleteFx ranks top five girl group in SK.
DeleteOne of top 5 gg? Snsd, 2ne1, kara, sistar and secret. Don't forget wg. Fx? Nope.
DeleteWg and secret are not top five. Just look it up I'm not even a fan of fx but its true.
Deletenhmmmmmm<3
ReplyDeletePledis' CEO looks cute haha, love the top 3! So influential..
ReplyDeleteDo you guys know Lee Soo Man was actually a singer xD I saw a performance on YT lol
ReplyDeleteYG looks like Garfield
ReplyDeleteBut Lee Soo Man isn't CEO anymore... Hasn't been for a few years.
ReplyDeleteI personally don't think I would go to SM or YG. I would either go to JYP or woollium and debut as a duo in Japan/China first and then go to S.Korea.
ReplyDeleteLook at me taking this too seriously. LOL. :)
YG just has to make sure he doesn't go the way of DSP someone that was competing with SM during the Sechs Kies vs H.O.T and Fin KL vs S.E.S. days and now has only KARA as a top tier group.
ReplyDeleteomg link please? I knew he was a singer but i never saw him performing
ReplyDeletejust type Lee Soo Man Happiness xd I think you'll find it right away ^^
ReplyDeleteLee Joong Yub, thank you so very much.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone notice that SNSD wasn't listed under SM's list of produced idol groups? I mean, how can you put SNSD under 'many more'? I'm not a SONE but.... yeah you get my gist.
ReplyDeletehaha, Andy rockin his way into the CEO list...but his duo's name is Jumper, not Jump, xD
ReplyDeleteStar Empire CEO xD...always remind me of his funny moments with ZE:A...heck he even danced with the staffs to cheer for them..xD
good to see the faces of the people behind idolgroups. thanks for sharing.
maknae CEO
ReplyDeletePeople often forget Rain was under JYP....
ReplyDelete"17 member boy group"
ReplyDeleteWTH?! So they have to divide their incomes between 17 of them -.-"
no
ReplyDeleteTS's VP is pretty hott though
ReplyDelete우리 앤디♥♥♥♥♥ cutest boss ever !!!!!!! ANDY♡♡♡♡♡
ReplyDeletehe was a very popular A-list singer, show host, and mc. he also had many CFs and endorsement deals back in the day. its part of the reason why koreans love him to this day despite his mess ups.
ReplyDeleteThis is actually really interesting. I think this is my first time seeing most of them.
ReplyDeleteWoollim didn't really /produce/ Nell or Epik High, but Lee Joong Yub has definitely had a good crop artists go through his company. He seems like a good CEO as long as you don't randomly get tangled in a really bad controversy (still bitter for Tablo).
YG is a Troll U___U
ReplyDeleteyes DSP totally failed rumor has it that it was because of the CEO got sick and his wife managed the company in a very wrong way by not renewing SS501 contract,
ReplyDeleteif i have to chose a company it will be DSP yes i have a big grudge towards them XD and yes they suck at promoting but i dont know is like DSP has something XD
ReplyDeleteand the Jtune camo well i love MBLAQ but not sure XD
Interesting how they mentioned that JYP is not the CEO of his agency, but failed to mention that Lee Soo Man isn't the CEO of his anymore...He hasn't been CEO since 1998 or 1999, I believe.
ReplyDeleteEveryone should read this http://www.twitlonger.com/show/kskjl4 as Cube family goes through a tough moment.
ReplyDeleteJYP will run your career right into the ground though. Look at Park Ji Min. She won Kpop Star but her career is crap compared to Lee Hi. And for some reason, she gets shoved into a duo while 4th place Baek Ahyeon gets a solo career.
ReplyDelete<___<
I always thought that JYP had the strangest looking face I've ever seen. http://images.kdramastars.com/data/images/full/3960/jyp.jpg?w=600
ReplyDeleteIf he doesn't shade in the ends of his eyebrows, it looks like he's frowning really hard all the time.
Ballad singer waaaaay back in the day when idol groups didn't even exist and trot music was all the rage. ^_^
ReplyDeleteHe kinda already did... Lexy was supposed to be the foil for Lee Hyori, but somehow things went wrong with Lexy's career and she dropped off the face of the earth... only to resurface under a new company with a completely new face.
ReplyDeletehttp://upic.me/i/wa/lexynow1.jpg
Well I will give it to SM although I like JYP.. Given that PSY hit daebak with GS, I wonder if he can do it again... If so then with BB together, and may be 2ne1 YG will rule for next 10 years...
ReplyDeleteYeah, there are my girls. T-ara!! But i had no idea Boram's aapa also worked with KkS. All I knew was both of her parents are/were celebs.
where's cho pd?ceo of loen?
ReplyDeleteNo wonder he can't get rid of Boram.... KKS and Jeon Young Ruk has history. Not that I want Boram out of the group she used to be my favorite, it's just that well he isn't even giving her attention or spotlight, her dad gives it to her (Solo cfs and musicals)
ReplyDeleteWere are the womens ??
ReplyDeletethey should have posted the photo of Lee Soo Man making a heart with his hands, i love that photo !
ReplyDelete100% men...
ReplyDelete" Everyone thought he was a female CEO because of his feminine name but he's actually a male." LOL-ed at this, sorry.
ReplyDeletefirst impression: ALL MALES?! and I can only recognise leesooman, yanghyunsuk, jyp and leejungyeop (simply because he makes too many appearances on infinite's stuffXD).
ReplyDeleteHe was most definitely never an A-lister. And he is not loved by Koreans. He is promoted by certain elements, because they think he is instrumental to Hallyu. Let's not get carried away here.
ReplyDeletethanks! :3
ReplyDeleteTS juseyoooo~ the ceo are also on a young age :>
ReplyDeleteIrrelevant....
ReplyDeleteInteresting. So if an agency is listed above, then it can be considered as a pretty reputable agency to belong in, and not one that will rip off their idols and take off with their earnings?
ReplyDeleteWhat about Eric and Minwoo CEO for Shinhwa Company? :p
ReplyDeletepledis ceo me gusta
ReplyDeleteLJY can really be a puss when it comes to controversies cause he obviously avoids it. Tablo's controversy probably got too big for him that he didn't know what to do. He needs to toughen up a bit tbqh. "God" forbid Infinite gets into a controversy, I hope by then, he'll have more confident to deal with it.
ReplyDeletewell, who made the best MVs again?and Loen artists are all really talented..?
ReplyDeletedo you remember when missA and sistar debut ?
ReplyDeletemissA got all the spotlight now look at them :)
same with 15& now
* ahyoeon was 3rd
Pledis CEO is hot.
ReplyDeleteNo because the group will not be together. It's like EXO. The 17 member group will be split into 3 sub groups so they will be able to promote in China, Korea, and Japan.
ReplyDeleteJYP isn't CEO anymore, Jung Wook is.
ReplyDeleteDon't be mean to Garfield.
ReplyDeleteFinally I see CCM CEO! ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
ReplyDeleteActually Andy is not CEO of Top Media.
ReplyDeleteThis is Top Media's CEO https://twitter.com/teentop
YG CEO looks like a troll
ReplyDeleteThe members have actually revealed that their CEO is a pretty shy and withdrawn person. I think he does tend to avoid controversies, I mean who wouldn't, but someone like him would definitely shy away from them if they ever came to light. Back when Woollim was an even smaller company than they are now it didn't seem like they had a good PR team. Hopefully now that he's got the money he's hired capable people to help him out in that area, seeing as how he is more involved and interested in music production anyway
ReplyDeleteBut they are, right between Super Junior and f(x)
ReplyDeleteCould somebody tell me who the CEO of Startrack entertainement is? I can't read Korean http://www.startrack.kr/
ReplyDeleteNo longer having the title does not necessarily mean he's not calling the shots anymore... it just means he's not first-in-line to be held accountable if problems arise.
ReplyDeleteNo my dear... that's not what it means. It's just an informational piece about the power people in the industry.
ReplyDeletethere are almost no women in top CEO positions in SKorea (look for OECD rankings, Korea has one of the worst gender equality positions of highly developed countries in the world). While many women in Korea and Japan are highly educated, chances are almost zero that you'll find them in higher Employment and Entrepreneurship levels. Their numbers almost disappear from the charts after college/university.
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHA. Now that you mention it....lol....
ReplyDeleteWhat about miss A? You mean Suzy and her backup dancers? LOL.
ReplyDeleteHonestly... miss A was doing great until Suzy started appearing in dramas. And then everything began being about Suzy and the rest of the group is just sort of left in the dust.
SISTAR is not a JYP group. Idk why you even mentioned them.
He still has a strong say because he owns a lot of the shares and is on the board but he is now overseeing investments and overseas business development and producing, not much the executive work of running a company.
ReplyDeleteStahp it LOL
ReplyDeleteYes, I am aware of what his business profile says.
ReplyDeletelol After school is quite lucky
ReplyDeletewell they got a women president not long ago
ReplyDeleteI read that he wasn't even on the Board anymore. LSM doesn't call the shots when it comes to SM's acts anymore and thats probably why SM is getting worse.
ReplyDeleteF.T Island and CN Blue in the same management? Wow
ReplyDeleteRegardless of what anyone has read, I would argue he is still very influential in what goes on at SM. This is why *HE* is one of the people spotlighted in the article and not some other SM executive.
ReplyDeleteThe highest rated comment is about Pledis CEO, lol. Who cares about the rest when there is a hot guy in the list?
ReplyDeleteYou do realise that all the changes in SM that people hate happened /after/ LSM stepped down from executive positions, right?
ReplyDeleteI'm not trying to start a fight.
ReplyDeleteYou apparently accept that he does not function in a position of power within SM because of news and reports you've read that he has stepped down from his executive positions.
I am disagreeing based on real life experiences that objects in mirror are usually closer than they appear.
:-)
Not trying to fight with you either :)
ReplyDeleteI'm basing my opinion on what I've both read and observed. 2009 onwards is when the box mv's started and where there was a bigger focus on dance tracks, which is around when LSM stepped down from executive positions. I think LSM has influence in the company, he is the largest stock holder after all, but more in the business side instead of working with the groups and soloists like he used to.
mmmm... are you sure? I think if you check the credits on all SM groups who have put out albums recently you will find him listed as the sole producer. The exceptions are SNSD where he is listed as "executive" producer among the other producers and BOA, who I believe self-produced her most recent album.
ReplyDeleteHaha, I rarely read credits :P
ReplyDeleteAnd I did say it was just my opinion and speculation so I could be 100% wrong, lol.
the troll ceo goes to kim kwang soo
ReplyDeletehahahahhahahaha...
there is "jump" group from top media?
who are they? o_0
pledis ceo thanks to afterschool
they were starting from one little office room
and managed to have their own building (?)
Fine way of explaining, and pleasant piece of writing
ReplyDeleteto obtain data on the topic of my presentation subject, which i am
going to convey in academy.
Here is my blog ... how to buy a car with bad credit
My web page :: buying a car with bad credit, buy a car with bad credit, how to buy a car with bad credit, buying a car,buy a car,how to buy a car
He is the majority shareholder so what he says goes, anyway
ReplyDeleteFNC's CEO looks like Filipino comedian, Chocolate..nyahahhaa..the white version though...wahaha..LOL
ReplyDelete
