Court rules that the letters allegedly written by the late Jang Ja Yeon were fabricated

Article: Court decides that the letters allegedly written by the late Jang Ja Yeon detailing her experience to provide forced sexual services have been fabricated

1. [+649, -218] So basically power won. The higher ups raped Jang Ja Yeon and now that their names are being spread in the media, they pressured the court to swing the decision in their favor. Power always comes before the law because the world is dirty that way and because that's how Korea works. Fu*k Gangnam Style or whatever, this country is a country that makes people pay for the pension of their congressmen.

2. [+457, -94] So are they saying they can decide whatever the hell they want just because she's dead and has no say in it?

3. [+304, -91] What happened is that the first  suicide note discovered does indeed belong to Jang Ja Yeon but the hundred or so letters that 'Jun' claimed to have received were fabricated. I remember in 2011 they were doing a bunch of investigations on the handwriting.

4. [+107, -80] Are they joking? How is this fabrication? Why do they think she commit suicide? This just proves how trashy the industry is...

5. [+89, -54] Fine, let's say they were fabricated. But how could over 200 pages be fabricated?? If nothing like that ever happened, what does that make the suicide note?

6. [+77, -34] They're treating Jang Ja Yeon's death like the death of some dog.

7. [+70, -14] Fu*k, they're basically expecting people to record themselves writing their suicide notes on video camera and then uploading it to YouTube before they kill themselves.

8. [+62, -28] What a way to kill Jang Ja Yeon twice... The court is pathetic..

9. [+43, -22] What a joke ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

10. [+31, -1] How could the court think that the 'Jun' person could have written over 200 pages completely from the emotional perspective of Jang Ja Yeon so perfectly? The handwriting is obviously that of a woman's and it's consistent from the first page to the last. For a man to have fabricated the entire thing, I just don't believe it.

1. [+48, -1] And here, another scandal lays buried.

2. [+42, -1] I'm reminded of Park Shin Yang's line from the drama 'Sign'. "The dead do not lie. The living lie to live." Although it was just a drama, the line hit close to my heart. Sure, the letters could have been fabricated, or they could be true... But I don't believe this is a decision that can be made from pure speculation alone, especially since the only person that knows is no longer with us in this world...

3. [+28, -1] Dirty, dirty industry...

  2. Yea, I doubt 200 pages have been fabricated. Just... gross...

  3. with all due respect to the deceased and her loved ones but has it ever occurred to people that the letter may not indeed be 100% accurate?

  4. Disgusting that this ended like this....probably many people already forgot about this case. I never really got to read what she wrote.

  5. i hope her family appeals. sounds very shady indeed.

  6. All this time to finally end her story, and of course it ends this way. If you have money you can shape reality any way you want. Disgusting.

  7. This is absolutely ridicuous. Goes to show how powerful and corrupt the Korean entertainment industry is.
Is there a petition for to appeal the court's decision?

  8. I didn't know the trial hasn't ended yet and more than 3 years for this...

  9. What a fucking joke. I am left absolutely speechless and disgusted. I know there's a lot more rumours to this scandal but the fact that the court has decided that a 200-page sucide note is fabricated is.. wow. This is just too sad. *This is just from my point of view and my personal take on this scandal*, but I believe PART of the reason why Jang Ja Yeon committed sucide because she wanted the public to believe her, which is why she has written such suicide note. But in the end, the person who knows the truth is no longer here so...

"The dead do not lie. The living lie to live." May or may not be true, but sometimes the reality is more frightening than the fiction.

  10. this truely shows the dark sides of the Korean Industry. I just understand how someone can "FABRICATE" over 200 pages of ones emotional state and suffering. if the pages were detailed and the ones close to her can say thats how she might have felt.
or if they were truely fabricated shouldnt the court be asking why? why someone decided to take their sweet time writing something fake? did she know something that might have lead her to suicide??

they should find a new court and people who know what they are doing. because clearly they dont know what people feel like when they are suffering from depression or in a very dark place.

  11. ... sadly i'm not surprised.

i'm sorry for her, she won't have justice after all but it was expected from a patriarchal country like South Korea where women are considered like dirt when they dare accusing men of dirty acts especially politicians and businessmen.

    victims always seem guilty there.
    disgusted TT

  12. i wonder how her family feels about all of this..

  13. The saddest thing is that even though everyone's aware of the foul play and the comments are unanimously in favor of bringing these disgusting people to justice, they're probably still going to get away with it. I mean, what happened with that congressmen pension law? There doesn't seem to be any kind of check on the power of the wealthy and influential :/

  14. For everyone that wants to rag on America's judicial system, if this case happened in America, the results would've been the exact opposite.

  15. The letters could be fabricated or could be real, most people just want to believe it's real hence to them it's real no matter what.....To me it could be real or fake....

  16. yeah but in america an entire school of kids can get shot up by some crazed white gun man with "social issues"

  17. Only in korea?

jimmy savile molesting kids for decades, only reason it was published is because hes so death is near and prision ain't no issue for his age.

  18. ... It happens all over the world. On the same week that happened, a man in china stabbed like 15 kids.

  19. I am appalled by the number of vote downs of the best replies. Isn't it obvious that the higher up companies crafted an entire lie and bribed the court to selfishly save themselves?

I don't believe that the guy fabricated the whole document. According to the news article, the court officials declared the letters to be false ONLY based on the handwriting difference and grammatical errors. Don't our handwritings change based on our moods? When I read my notes, there is a massive dissimilarity between when I'm tired and when i'm energetic. Spelling mistakes are also common as we all know. Seriously, I can't believe the number of stupid people actually believing in this ruling.

  20. america is the ONLY industrialized country in the entire world where mass shootings occur, even to this very day.

  21. ok and wtf does mass shooting and rapsit have to do with this article ??? yall are some wack ass motherfuckers

  22. exactly, netizens here and on those articles believe what they want to believe. they should read the full text of the court's decision before making any "explosive" comments rather than basing it from what the news feed them. The explanation, for sure, is there. We may not agree with the court's ruling but a more legal and rational explanation as to why they ruled that way must have been stated therein. Anyhow, it's hard to expect people to bother looking at the full text of the court's decision. It's easier to just read it from journalist's perspective and then rage from there. lols

  24. why would someone fabricate 200 pages. and there is someone committed suicide..

  30. so 200 pages were fabricated? now theyll say she didnt kill herself and is alive somewhere... yeah, just keep doing that... look away from the problems the industry/society struggle with... this is the rotten world we live in... I was just talking to my mom about this the other day and she thought i was talking about a drama... when i told her the "sponsors" thing actually happens, she was beyond horrified...

  31. truly pathetic that it had to end like this. Even then, I had no awareness of this story until only recently. I am appalled that Jang Ja Yeon's story didnt manage to circulate all over the world. Her last hope was clearly for her to get retribution on those bastards and now not only are they still living free and happy lives, but the memory of Jang Ja Yeon has been trivialized
