Article: Block B "Cancel our contracts" injunction against their company

Source: News 1 via Nate

1. [+181, -55] These guys were paid $14 without any support from their company. P.O. paid for all of their stage outfits from his own pockets and their staff worked for them with their own money. To make matters worse, their CEO basically ran away with the $70,000 he took from their parents. Think about how they must be feeling right now.. Cut back on the harsh words.

2. [+206, -85] I'm sure this must've been a difficult decision for them to make as rookies, especially since it will impact their careers tremendously... I was never too fond of them because of their history but this is a problem with their company and I sincerely hope it's resolved. Since the members filed the lawsuit as a group, I don't think they'll disband.

3. [+224, -126] I hope they leave that Stardom company that hasn't done one thing right for them and do well in a new company

  3. ITS NOT BRAND NEW STARDOM. its just STARDOM

  4. This is seriously... so upsetting.
I'd like to see these boys find strength, and a new company. Although they're still fairly new, their talent and friendship transcends those of any I've seen enter the Kpop industry in a long while. I'll do whatever I can as a BBC to support them.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I hope they find a company that will do the right thing.

    ReplyDelete
  6. They need to get their money back, PO needs to be reimbursed everything he's paid.. But they should definitely leave this company, and those EVOL girls better run while they have a chance. I feel bad for this group, they've gone through so much, and I really liked them. Pisses me off like hell that the money I spent on their album didn't reach their hands.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I don't think these guys will ever not be going through shit.

No money since debut and running off with their parent's money? No wonder they want out. It's a fucking shame because stardom game them as much freedom musically as they could and that's what fans loved. I don't think the people suggesting new companies understand how much of Block B they'll lose even if they manage to end up in another company.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Yeah we're all pissed about this. And i agree with you about the other groups about to debut or have debuted in that company.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Its begun. I'm with you Block B.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Never though about that album thing.
Even more upsetting now :/ They're so strong.

  11. The amount controversies that suddenly popped out once 2013 started is a little too crazy!

    ReplyDelete
  12. kara was established. it was essential they stay 5. block b is still a baby group. zico's the only known one.

    ReplyDelete
  13. screw that company, nobody deserves to be ripped off like that. working hard just to be left penniless.

i just want zico to get out and pursue making good music. tbh, he's the only one i care about. boy has great potential.

  14. GIVE ME MORE 2013. I NEED MORE.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Definitely needs to be reimbursed. Just cause he's the rich one doesn't mean he has to cover all costs.

  16. I hope they stick together.

And if this is true... I've lost all respect for Stardom.

    ReplyDelete
  17. BNS split. Its now Brand New Management & Stardom Ent. Block B is with Stardom.

    ReplyDelete
  18. When NB said the company 'paid them a little' I certainly did not expect Stardom to tip them a 'generous' $2 per pax and call it reimbursement for 1+ year's work.

    ReplyDelete
  19. yes, but currently it seems like block b are suing as a group, so at least they have reached some sort of a unanimous decision and aren't divided in opinion. I'd rather they get this sorted out now than keep it all under wraps. And ppl are really over-reacting here; conflicts like this happen so often in the entertainment industry and it's unlikely that they will just disband because of this issue. Seeing as how each person contributes to their work as a group, their stake in the block b name is too high for them to just break up and leave.

    ReplyDelete
  20. JUNGLE ENTERTAINMENT SIGN MY BABIES!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I hope they get signed to a great company like YG but i doubt YG would sign them as for he has his own debut groups to sort out but i really feel sorry for them. they should not be treated like this. they are talented boys and their CEO is a fucking douche, one hope they find strength and sue his fucking ass out, because no one in the world deserves this shit.

    ReplyDelete
  22. and their management also poorly managed their nilili mambo promotion..and same thing happened to EvoL too /flips

    ReplyDelete
  23. I think its important to point out that the main culprit is CEO Lee (so far); I doubt many people in the company are involved in this scam or else it wouldn't be so easy for the CEO to 'disappear' suddenly with so much money

    ReplyDelete
  24. YG's not going to pick up CHO PD's group.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Anybody know what happened to EVOL?

    ReplyDelete
  26. well i dont think disbanding is an issue right now, i was just addressing the kara comparison. not as much people care for the block b brand as they do for kara.

but i hear you, idk why the first thing ppl are worried about is that they'll disband. they seem together in this decision. above all, they need to get out of their contracts and get their money!

    ReplyDelete
  27. This so fucking much. Or even Amoeba Culture Ent.

I think those two would go best with the boys considering the type of music they make far more on the hip-hop side than any other boy group, signing with one of those companies would be a good move imo. Plus think of how fucking amazing they would get being around all those artists who know their shit for real. What brings out the most talent in people is having others around them that are better than them because it only prompts them to try harder and Jungle Ent. or Amoeba could do that for them. A successful hip-hop idol group, and I mean real hip-hop. Ah shit I'm getting excited just thinking about it.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Jungle already has their own hip hop idol group if I'm not mistaken. Amoeba is either the company that has a hip hop idol group too or the one that has decided thus far not to create one bc all the focus on these idol groups is shifting companies' focus away from the real artists.

      Delete
  28. April 2011 was their debut month. And they've been dealing with this shit since then. I knew Stardom was a shady ass company from the start, but they impressed me with how low they stooped with this one.

    ReplyDelete
  29. "2. [+187, -42] Seems more like their $7 statement was a diss against their company"

That's quite an interesting turn of events. How many netizens will now think that their "behavior issues" are because of Stardom? Anyways, it's refreshing to know that netizens are sympathetic and want a good outcome of it all. To think that I've purchased every physical album, only to find out that they weren't getting their fair share. It's ridiculous, really. I can understand how frustrating this must be for Zico since he practically lives in the studio making music at all times of the day in Block B's names.

Whatever happened to Cho PD's approach to managing them? Why wasn't he protecting them from fraud???

    ReplyDelete
  30. No to YG. Just no. Never. Ever. NO BLOCK YG.

I already had to deal with Epik YG.
    NO.

    ReplyDelete
  31. yeah thats true...

    ReplyDelete
  32. No company is going to be quick in picking up Block B. Block B has been in a ton of controversies and the hate towards them is not passable.

    ReplyDelete
  33. yea, the disbandment part is not addressed to you, just everyone else in general who are worried about it. I'm not at all concerned lol. Not just because the group are suing together, but also because its very probable that only a few people or just that CEO Lee is involved and its a matter of getting the real culprits to compensate. Once that is resolved (or even if it doesn't get resolved) the group would likely be intact with an existing fan base and i doubt stardom or other agencies would let that business opportunity go.

    ReplyDelete
  34. But they are still successful that's the thing. Despite past issues block b had good sales and good response to their newest album, and tbh, I highly doubt any company would miss out on snatching Zico up if anything.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I know, it just won't be done fast because the company that picks them up has to weigh it all out. I do hope someone picks them up though.

    ReplyDelete
  36. but there's a ripe business opportunity there with a sizable fan base to support it. It would be stupid to ignore that just because non-fans don't like them lol.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Well they have already have a steady fanbase, talent, and can still sell. I think companies can look over the controversial issue because they would just have to rebuild Block B's image in the public, something Stardom should have put more effort into tbh.

Not to be "rude" but they aren't on a t-ara level. I think another company would take them in easily but probably monitor their behavior more closely.

    ReplyDelete
  38. wtf just pay them, assholes

    ReplyDelete
  39. Most probably Cho PD was never really involved in the business management side or chose to pass those duties on to another business partner after the agency got more established. That's not uncommon when former-artists set up agencies since they are generally not too well-versed in the corporate aspect of things. I suspect some of the past problems with stardom arose when CEO Lee took over i.e. the split from BNS to the current BNM and stardom, the dispute over miss S etc, so given these possibilities I wouldn't push all the blame onto Cho PD alone. He was one of the founders of the company and he seems to have a say in music production, but that doesn't mean he has full legal control over the company.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Does Cho PD have anything to do with it? I hope not..

    ReplyDelete
  41. Kara is bigger than Block B though. You can't really compare the two..

    ReplyDelete
  42. The only positive in this is that Block B filed this lawsuit as a group and not individually.

    ReplyDelete
  43. This is exactly what I've been thinking as well. Cho PD handed the reigns to other people who own a share of the company and then things started taking a turn for the worst.

I guess what I've been trying to say is that even though he may not be involved in management/PR, he's still their mentor. Shouldn't he have foreseen this? Or perhaps he is the one who's encouraged them to file a suit against Stardom anyways?

Still so much left to be revealed...

    ReplyDelete
  44. What is Cho PD doing? I haven't heard anything from him..

    ReplyDelete
  45. And this is the same dick who said he will forever support Block B and do all he can to help them? I hope they go to another company who will support them. They should join Shinwha's company. Not YG because I don't want to see them become like every other YG artist.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Just want to support you for pointing that fact out, it feel sucks when the money that fans spent didn't reach their hands, even though I'm not a huge fan of them..

    ReplyDelete
  47. Definitely one of the better options.

They're more hip hop oriented and have more freedom than other idol companies. I don't think they would care much about Block B's past either.

Also maybe I'll get to see Block B perform with Tiger JK :L

    ReplyDelete
  48. Is Cho PD the CEO of the company? I know he's the one who founded it and I've never heard of anyone else being the head of the company... And he's the one who created Block B after he released a few of his own albums under his label.

    ReplyDelete
  49. The CEO probably took their money, too. :/

    ReplyDelete
  50. Actually... maybe he will, just to spite him. LMAO.

    ReplyDelete
  51. So who should sign them? CUBE, the "second chance for idols" company?

    :S

    ReplyDelete
  52. "Every other YG artist" =/= BIGBANG and 2NE1
But I agree, YG wouldn't be a good fit for them.

    ReplyDelete
  53. "Probably"...

    So basically you're just speculating?

    http://www.brandnewstardom.com/

    1. Click "Company" at the top.

    2. Then click "CEO Message".

    3. Who's that message from?

    THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Questions Questions QuestionsJanuary 4, 2013 at 1:22 AM

I like Block B's music, but I never particularly liked them as a group because I always felt they were unnecessarily rude. While some of the things they've said or done are inexcusable, I think I can understand why they do those things... I mean to be treated that way by the company they entrusted with their lives and careers? We can only support them right now. No one deserves to be treated like that.

Isn't Cho PD the CEO of their company? If you go to their website (http://www.brandnewstardom.com) and click on "CEO Message" there's a message there from Cho PD.

So is he the one who "ran away" with the money?

  55. Cube has too many idols on their hands already.

    ReplyDelete
  56. No i meant all YG artists give off the same vibe and theme. I like Block B's vibe that they have. "I don't give a fu*k about fashion or trends I am just going to be real to me."

    ReplyDelete
  57. I hope they win against Stardom. I thought it was a good company -_-
    Go to Cub Ent.!

    ReplyDelete
  58. The hate, from what I can see, has trickled down to general criticism though. In terms of sales, they're one of the more promising idol groups from 2011. Plus, they already have teamwork, a solid fanbase, and experience. It wouldn't be too difficult for a company to pick them up.

    ReplyDelete
  59. no, its CEO Lee, probably someone else who has a stake in the company. And btw, 'CEO' is just a title, but the actual management may not be
conducted by him or her and the actual power he/she has over the company
differs depending on the circumstances of each firm. Since he was the
founder of the company and is using his name to give legitimacy to the
stardom brand, I don't expect him to relinquish that title anytime soon.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I don't know about that, I mean, no company took SS501 as five and SS501 were (and still are) far more famous than Block B is now, their fanbase is much bigger than Block B's, plus they didn't have any scandals.

    ReplyDelete
  61. It's not Cho PD, it's somebody else.

    ReplyDelete
  62. It crossed my mind that perhaps he knew about it, but didn't have to power to stop it from happening.

    ReplyDelete
  63. CEO is the chief executive officer. That is the person in charge of the entire company.

There is no such thing as a person who says they're the CEO when they really aren't for a truckload of reasons, one being that it makes the company look bad.

The CEO of Stardom is Cho PD. He's the person who's in charge of all executive decisions. He oversees everything. He's everyone's boss, which also means that the people in charge of FINANCES answer to him.

It is completely possible for the founder of a company to also hold the title of CEO. It is also very likely that he or she will continue to hold that title until they die, or (if they company goes public) they might step down and let someone else answer to the board of directors.

But Stardom is not a public company. Therefore, the boss of everyone there is the CEO Cho Jong-hoon.

Who the fuck is CEO Lee? Some imaginary person a Cho PD fan made up?

    ReplyDelete
  64. About as real as Zico's dreads, right? SOOO REAL.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I feel bad for Topp Dogg too. They had promising trainees and rappers for that group. I'm incredibly upset that every time Block B smiled on stage, deep inside they were hurting but wanted to put on a good face for the BBCs that waited for them. I hope they find the CEO and I hope he burns in hell for his crimes.

    ReplyDelete
  66. While I don't know much about SS501, based on my limited knowledge didn't one of the members decide that it would be better to go solo first? Without the most popular member and an intact group/ fanbase to begin with, it would definitely be hard to regroup themselves and promote as a 4-unit team...Of course that could happen with block b too but so far it does seem like they're holding out well...

    ReplyDelete
  67. No it wans't like that. Their contract terminated with DSP and they didn't renew it; they decided to still be together but not company would take the five of them (which to me it doesn't make sense considering how popular SS501 are) so then they decided to go solo. It's kind of different because SS501 has a good relationship with DSP unlike Block B and their company.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Don't stress to much bbcs, blockb will do just fine and they are better off without stardom it's their lose.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I have no idea who this CEO lee is, but I doubt the media outlets and fansites would all report about the wrong person.

These general guidelines for CEOs don't necessarily apply to smaller companies (without that board of directors and the major stockholders to keep things in line) and I've seen plenty of cases when it doesn't. Sure, he should handle/supervise the finances as well (and that's ideal of course), but he could also have played too little of a role in that area and that's when ppl who work with you/under you can meddle with the accounts without you knowing it. But of course how it can drag on for so long without any actions taken is a mystery to me...

Btw pseudo-CEOs exist everywhere. As long as they have competent ppl doing the important things, they may not pay attention to all the areas they are supposed to oversee. Not saying that Cho PD necessarily slacks off, but he definitely recruited the wrong person/ppl on his team if all of this were true.

    ReplyDelete
  70. oh ok, didn't know that part, but why didn't they renew the contract with DSP then? Since they are still popular, were in good relations with their company and were willing to exist as a team...

    ReplyDelete
  71. DSP wanted to renew their contract but only wanted 4 of them and leader didn't want to leave behind a member because they are like brothers so when they searched for another company no company would take the five of them so all of them agreed to go solo until there was another chance to go back together as five. Recently they were going to make a comeback but one of the members enlisted in the army. They (DSP and the members with their respective companies) agreed to it but that one issue stopped them from making their comeback. There are some things that till now don't make sense to me though. I hope Block B fans are prepared for anything too, it is really heartbreaking.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Hope the group won't break up!!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Unless they can find a company can accept the whole group, it's really difficult....

    ReplyDelete
  74. can't even last a year w/o scandal...

    ReplyDelete
  75. Wow, another one. Hope their agency won't be bent on destroying them like sm is on their ex

    ReplyDelete
  76. I highly doubt Block B are going to find another company that will take them as a group. The only company that the group-that-shall-not-be-named could find was cjes and they are WAY more popular than Block B could ever hope to be. SS501 couldn't find a single company that would take them as a group and they are still miles ahead of Block B in terms of popularity even now.
Zico MIGHT be able to find a company on his own, but even that's wishful thinking.

    ReplyDelete
  77. T^T
At least the netizens are nice to them?
    But lksdflsdf... X_X

    ReplyDelete
  78. I wonder in which company they will go.
    No YG please.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I'm speachless, PO and staff members convering almost all the cost? And then Stardom got the nuts to even not to paid them. First, I'm glad about the positves feedbacks, whenever involved k netizen you'll never know. They are such a talent group, and I like their unique style and sly personalities. I'm sure they can find a better company, hope they found a way to get out of this, reimbursed and paid.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Rumour mill seems to be hot. Today eyewitnesses claimed that they saw Block B in front of well established music company. Block B fans asked to remove those eyewitness posts from the web board of that company's biggest stars, and their request was complied.
Was there ever any ground behind those sightings, is another matter.

    ReplyDelete
  81. This is what happens when a group spends time "reflecting" just to appease netizens instead of getting on with doing what they are paid for - they make no money and can't break even on contracts. They should have kept promoting instead of taking that time off.

    ReplyDelete
  82. They can debut with ACube or Cube DC, and there's also a C Cube going around, different management teams.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I hope Cube signs them, even though they have different styles, but Block B are close to Cube peeps, and Cube will for sure give them musical freedom.. also, they have different subsidiaries so there will be no problem concerning management, without forgetting that Cube treats their artists the best.. I think it'll be great if they join cube

    ReplyDelete
  84. I'm not aware of why YG would want to spite Cho PD; would you mind enlightening me?

    ReplyDelete
  85. fuck fuck fuck, why do I care so much, why does this hurt so much. Fucking hell, we're strong, we're diamonds, we'll fucking endure. Hugs for everyone

  86. CHO DISSES GD, 3 TIMES...
    1st :
"Cho PD bigger bang, GD’s favorite one cuz i got the slow flow and fast flow all in one package.”

    2nd:
For a long time we big dogs we bigger bang than big bang, na mean? Is Cho PD turn it up louder May Doni [ If I'm correct, May Doni also used to be a YG trainee but she left long time ago. ] u ready to spit it on a new hit. Ok ok take it! If I call someone out just like this, of course they wouldn’t keep still. Everyone knows how I am when I get pissed off every now and then. I would run away if my flows were as slow as yours.” song title - drag .

    3rd:
“Wearing clothes and dancing dances that follow the trend. Mixing up Korean and English without even leaving any deep meaning in your lyrics. Melodies that are familiar to every ear, making everyone claiming whose who’s on the web. Even though you had a hell lot of training, the results was a mere bar. Even though you dominated the charts, all you get is a few coins, this is the reality of music industry. How about I start representing and settle this with fire.” song title - i want korean hip hop

    GD RESPONDS AFTER 2ND DISS.
" Why does a popular artist like you have so many things to say? Whatever, just give me one mic and I’ll make eight words sick, I flip it ye. If I were you, I would cower away from this fast flow. So f*ck off. " song title - What by YMGA

And now Cho Pd goes around praising GD and BIGBANG. I think the praises started after Block B came out as well or when they were going to come out.

    - “Idol singers like Big Bang possess the ability of being musicians. Rarely do idol groups these days possess members that produce their own music like Big Bang does."

    - “Since in many ways Big Bang has evolved out of being an idol with the abilities they possess as musicians, G-Dragon can be counted as the main representative for this."

CHO PD IS VERY, VERY.........I'LL LET YOU USE YOUR IMAGINATION. :)

    ReplyDelete
  87. So basically if he picks them up it'd be like a big fuck you to cho pd.

    ReplyDelete
  88. this just shows their talent, they basically debuted on their own. if they've been paying for everything, producing their own music, and all of the rest, without even getting the money they deserve, it shows their passion for what they do and the talent they have to become so big without proper management. i don't think theyll break up because they've stayed together through all this when we didn't even know it was happening anyway. but personally, i think it'd be a strong move for a company to pick them up, seeing how talented and dedicated these boys are.

    ReplyDelete
  89. glad PO is ok..they need go and signed with another company..they have been through a lot and deserves a break..
