ReplyDeleteThis is so true they really need to stop putting idols in major roles just for the publicity. Just like the netizen said, there is less space for actual actors that studied the art of years, and also the fact that idols tend to take away meaning from the character their playing, especially if they are not well trained. Look at Dongho in 'Don't Cry Mommy' for example, a lot of people were complaining that they couldn't even take the movie seriously anymore because of his presence. When that happens the whole publicity stunt they were try to pull just back fires. I think it's better to get professional actors and portray the movie the way it's meant to be, it will get more respect that way.
Either way, good luck to Yunho, I hope he is seriously ready to challenge himself for this role.

ReplyDeleteJaejoong has won 2 acting awards already and was nominated for the Male Excellence Award in Acting during the 2012 Korean Drama Awards, which is an award that many senior actors haven't even gotten nominated for.
You can like Yunho's acting all you want (strange as that is) but don't bring down someone else to try to make your point. Especially when your comparison doesn't even make sense.

ReplyDeleteThere are a ton of genuinely talented actors and actresses in Korea, but entertainment companies see dramas and movies as a publicity stunt. It robs the truly talented actors of roles that they could do infinitely better in.
To the Beautiful You, for example, pretty much SANK like a gigantic rock when it came out. The idea behind the drama was not the problem because it was a remake of a drama and manga that are both extremely popular. The problem was the casting. Sulli, Minho, and that other dude who I can't even remember were all just fucking awful.
I'm hoping that Yunho resurfaces on Queen of Ambition 50x better an actor than we've seen in the past.

ReplyDeleteIf Sulli has no intention of pursuing acting seriously (and she clearly doesn't, given her absolutely shiteous performance in TTBY), she should have the good sense and decency to turn down the role so someone more talented and better suited could do the script justice. ReplyDeleteYoochun IS a very talented actor. He was mediocre in Sungkyungkwan Scandal and the fact that the other roles were well-cast helped him a lot. But with each of the following acting roles he's taken on, he's improved each time. He doesn't possess the natural talent for acting that other Korean actors have, but he is far from average.

Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to this drama because I'm a huge fan of Soo Ae...and it's KSW's comeback in a while.

1. [+689, -142] I was honestly quite surprised. He now acts like a real actor. My mom saw Park Yoochun and asked if he was a rookie actor because he's quite good. Yoon Eun Hye improved a lot as well. I didn't have any expectations for the adult cast but they really turned the tables on me.

Yunho happens to be great at everything else, though. And gorgeous to boot. So don't take people's HONEST opinions so damn personally.
If you want to support his acting career, cool. Go for it. But don't flip a lid when everyone around you starts saying his acting is shit and you're all pissed because you're too blind to see it.

I don't see the point you're trying to make here. I was pointing out that netizen responses are always negative in response to idol actors getting roles in dramas. The ones you've singled out was after Yoochun had the chance to prove himself. Hence this response (to Yunho) is not much different (though admittedly more negative) to initial news of Yoochun starring in the drama.
