1. [+476, -219] GD is still getting hateful replies a year after his scandal, I wonder how long IU will go?

2. [+329, -121] She looks different to me now... Should've been careful.

3. [+222, -93] Bye U

4. [+165, -64] The power of image... Now I'm just whatever when I see her...

5. [+108, -116] Look at all this double standard... Think reply before you leave sexually abusive comments like this.

  1. looking back at her older mv, it shows tht she's really implementing the lolita girl image, innocent and stuff like that.
idk, but somehow i do kindda felt cheated.
sad that she made a ridiculous mistake, what a waste

  2. what a waste, right?she build up her career for several years and then her career just went down to the drain in a day just because of her picture . :( I do kinda felt cheated too. I hope she will do well in her life after this.

  3. Wonder how different it would be if IU stuck to her original image, when she debuted with Mia.

  4. poor girl, but if that mistake never happened.
we'd probably still believe her image that she's trying to sell.

  5. Agree. At least we already know her true colour..i felt cheated. i cant view her in a same way anymore. But i'm okay with her.

  6. I was a fan of IU when she debuted with Mia cos I can see her potential in that song. Then when she sang Marshmallow, I couldn't help but to as if she was trying too hard to fit in with all the cutesy trend back then.. Hopefully after this, her company can showcase more on her talent rather than relying on the whatever image-making they have in mind next.

  7. "Lolita" turned out to be not so innocent in the end... that was the whole point of the story, LOL.

  8. IU's career isn't over by a long shot. Everybody said Hugh Grant's career was over when he got caught having sex with a tranny hooker. But then he just started playing jerks instead of nice guys and his career was better than ever.
All IU needs to do is start working the "bad girl" angle, and she'll be fine. Look out HyunA!

  9. yeah me too.. it's like her main attraction point is fake..

there are a lot of good singers in korea, but a cute, innocent girl with very good vocal is hard to find.

  10. It's sad because she flopped with Mia.. So her company saw no other way but to force on her a cute image. I think she's growing out of it though, her latest release wasn't that cute. And I noticed that the songs she composed on Last Fantasy have a more jazz feel to it. I see people compare her to Taylor Swift, but I think she wants to be more like Corinne Bailey Rae.

  11. Goshh you are talking like she was an object !!

This! I wonder how long they can keep on being so nasty? Following this story has made me wonder more about the netizens than anything else. It makes me wonder how they find the time to keep on following these stories and spew all those nasty comments. I would think it is exhausting to be that hateful and probably not good for them in general. Why not spend that time being more productive?

These netizens don't seem to know the meaning of forgiveness. I hope they "reflect" upon this incident when they need a little forgiveness over something silly and they don't receive it and it becomes a big deal. As they say, people who live in glass houses shouldn't be throwing stones since they aren't perfect and you can bet that they also have lied & "fooled" others. Also, there is a difference between reality and the net. GD continues to be successful despite those type writer warriors aka netizens and probably IU will too.

  14. Hugh Grant is an actor and a man. Apparently, men can get away with doing just about anything.

Johnny Depp disses America and moves to France... Chris Brown beats Rihanna... Ashton Kutcher cheats on Demi & causes her mental breakdown... Eddie Murphy gets caught with a tranny hooker in his car... Woody Allen marries his ex-wife's 21 year-old adopted daughter... Russell Crowe assaults a hotel concierge with a telephone... all of these men are still loved and respected.

  15. Such a misleading title since IU does this often as fan service but not part of aegyo. Trying to increase those clicks I see. I'm glad to see that it is dying down although some are still trying to capitalize on it.

  16. Those are good examples, but there are also plenty of Hollywood women who have come out of their scandals just fine: Angelina Jolie, Kristen Stewart, and January Jones come to mind.

  17. how old are the people commenting with comments like "cheated", "fooled", etc? i am genuinely interested since most people i know that celebrities all have a public image and they don't expect that to match the reality. they also are the ones who don't really see this as a "sex scandal" like some people are trying to pass it off as. most of the people i know are 21+ and i am wondering if this is where the difference lies. these friends of mine know that just because you are dating/getting to know someone does not mean that you are having sex nor does a simple picture like that enough to for people to claim they the two parties are intimate.
so what age group are you in if you don't mind me asking? so, for example, are you old enough to legally drink (> 18)? drive (> 16)? graduated from college (22+)?
    just a genuine curiousity

  18. Im 19 years old ,and i also cant believe how far people go with this "scandal" and making assumpions from just a photo xd .they should be younger thn my i guess

  20. Yes, there is that saying something like 'Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven'. I'm pretty sure there are a lot of things that is a lot worse than the supposed IU "crime"

Last but not least for anyone who feels that they've been fooled, .lied to, etc

    Here's one for you

"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye"

  21. People judge too often. I try to think about my own mistakes when ever I even think about judging someone else or try to think about the situation they're in, if they're actually sorry, etc. but with internet anonymity + jealousy, i can see how it's easy to hate on her

  22. I've always loved IU when it was just her and her guitar. if you were a true fan and really like her you wouldn't care so much about her image.

    ReplyDelete
  23. "Johnny Depp disses America and moves to France". what is wrong with this ?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Whats wrong with trans people too?

    ReplyDelete
  25. IMO it's your fault for buying into the whole image without any doubts isn't it?
It's common knowledge celebs fake their image to market themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Well it definitely change my image about her, but I still love her

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm genuinely curious too.

  28. stage persona =/= real life...Doesn't people already know this?

    ReplyDelete
  29. you obviously are not an iu fan nor do you really know why she is so popular. if her main charm was this little girl concept with good vocals, you are right. she would have been replaced a long time ago.

stop eating up those b.s articles and find out for yourself

    ReplyDelete
  30. Uh, that was not the point of "Lolita" at all! The point is that Humbert Humbert was an unreliable narrator who manipulated a young girl into sex and deluded himself into thinking that she was willing.

  31. Do you not understand that idols have an image built for them by a company - an image that's completely separate from who they are as a person? It's the same for idols like Hyuna, too.

  34. its really not that serious

  35. she wouldn't be 'nation's little sister', she wouldn't have had half the fame she did. no one cared for her when she debuted.

    1. It may not have gotten her the popularity of an idol star but it got her noticed by many people. Maybe not by those boy idol crazy fans but by people who recognized talent and appreciated it.

  36. It pissed a lot of Americans off to hear that one of their most beloved actors thinks that America is comparable to a "whiny puppy" that will bite you or something... I can't recall the exact quote, but yeah.

  37. Speaking of IU and Corinne Bailey Rae...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sONgeqJxb20

    I miss hearing her covers.

    ReplyDelete
  38. actually, her debut is what got her noticed from people who appreciate talent and music. it certainly did not win her those idol group fans but she won over many others even with her then slightly chubby self.

she built up her fan base slowly, much slower than the idol groups, but she built the fan base up without the nation's little sister title. her popularity exploded with good day but her star was on the rise when that happened

  39. IU's image is really everything for her career. Imagine songs like "peach" sung by someone like hyunah, lol no! I'm really curious how would her next album be like.

    ReplyDelete
  40. i dont see why people get so hung up about the chris brown rihanna incident still... rihanna is basically an idiot at this point she doesnt even care that he beat her up and he is basically playing her

    ReplyDelete
  41. Ok if her image is all what iu has why ahe still have 138000 fans in her fancafe, do you remember sev7en? He lost almost all his fans . Her image is very important but is not all ,she still can sing and write her own songs and the fact that she makes music that is liked not only by young people but also all ages is important also
