Positive Dump: 'Come to Play', Shin Hye Sung, Big Bang

Article: MBC 'Come to Play' taken off air after 9 years

Source:
Starin via Nate

1. [+839, -98] The reason the show was able to last that long was because of Yoo Jae Suk

2. [+748, -92] It's understandable that they would want to try something new after 9 years of the same thing... I don't think it's necessarily any reason to take jabs at Yoo Jae Suk's inability to keep the program on air

3. [+781, -284] Kim Jae Chul-ssi, this isn't right

4. [+122, -13] I really liked the True Man Show ㅠㅠ MBC, you're too much...

5. [+118, -30] MBC, why don't you get rid of the 8 o'clock news too then ㅋ It's not like that gets viewer ratings, why do you keep it up !

3. [+275, -17] I can tell that he was singing this from his heart. It really resonated within me ... ㅠㅠㅠㅠ

Article: Big Bang wins Best Style Band 'even the world acknowledges their fashion'

Source:
Newsen via Nate

1. [+293, -64] Looks like the west perfers YG's fashion... Big Bang does dress nicely, with of course G-Dragon at the center of that

2. [+217, -57] No one can beat YG in fashion

3. [+206, -54] YG is fashion. From Big Bang's high tops to 2NE1's leggings, they did it all. All of their concepts are new and different, no wonder they get acknowledged worldwide~

  1. YAY POSITIVE DUMP FOR BIGBANG AND 2NE1. JUST YAY :D

  2. " All of their concepts are new and different" ...no. they steal from black street fashion.

    ReplyDelete
  3. I dislike Big Bang's style. It looks so try hard.

    ReplyDelete
  4. exactly, they're just considered "new" because they only get compared to other kpop groups

    ReplyDelete
  5. High fashion is another term for OTT clothes that no one else will ever wear.

    ReplyDelete
  6. wow any YG artist in positive dump is rare. lol.
    whatever i'm happy <3

    ReplyDelete
  7. Looks like you're stuck in 2006-07. BIGBANG hasn't worn and 'black street fashion' clothes in so long.

It actually looks like GD's closet vomitted on them all O_O

    ReplyDelete
  8. ..YG...fashion..is.....idk..I don't agree they're "best styled"

Honestly I think they're too try hard to be different

    ReplyDelete
  9. HyeSung didn't win first place o.O B14 did.

But his performance was really powerful XD Full of emotion and sincerity, too bad he was only a special guest :(

    ReplyDelete
  10. so many idols now copy yg fashion. their stylists prolly keep pictures of big bang and 2ne1 on their computers to study from

    ReplyDelete
  11. Hyesung had an truly amazing performance. If you haven't seen it I highly recommend watching it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyJNiQLTGMs&list=LLL-8QQPi4sOY9z8icqm755w&index=2

    Such an a beautiful voice...

    ReplyDelete
  12. lol B1A4 won over Hyesung? lol just lol

    ReplyDelete
  13. Still good enough for your oppars to copy after.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Of course YG fashion would appeal to the west because YG copies us, as well as japanese street fashion. See a trend here, you'll see YG do it a few months later, same goes for Japan. There's nothing original about them. GD is obviously taking pointers from Pharrell and Busta Rhymes eccentricity and Kanye West of course, while CL is such an obvious Rihanna wannabe its not even funny, probably cause she has no style and just thinks piling brand names on equates to being fashionable.

Anyone with half a mind to pay attention can see it. But everybody is so stuck on "American music sucks omg," So they don't pay attention- and label YG as original and different when he's just a copycat.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Black fashion street clothes have advanced, dear. And yes, BB still jocks their "swag" all of the time. It's no longer oversized tees and baggy ass pants anymore, the hip-hop/black fashion world has definitely took a turn for the more high-fashion appeal even in the street-wear department and look who also did the same, YG. Isn't that a coincidence... *Sigh*

    ReplyDelete
  16. But Adam Lambert a west artist still wants to steal all BIGBANG's fashion though. It shows something.

The point is YG artists usually the one to bring trends into KPOP world, we can't expect they design the clothes themself can we? Even Lady Gaga copying style and old idea, but she the one make them famous.

    ReplyDelete
  17. No that's just Jeremy Scott putting them in stupid shit. I prefer it when 2NE1 dresses themselves they look a lot better.

    ReplyDelete
  18. It's better than all the idols that look the same. I love YG's style and Key of SHINee's too.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Because Adam Lambert ALREADY DRESSES LIKE THEM. It's a style he is accustomed to, so why would he not want the clothes he already wears?

Exactly, KPOP, but essentially, they are copies on a global scale. Take YG out of Korea, all orginality is lost.

    ReplyDelete
  20. IMO their style is still quite unique compared to most of famous US
artists - which's really plain. Not sure about the indie ones though.

    ReplyDelete
  21. It wouldn't be hard though. All they would have to do is look at American/Japanese fashion, and style it ugly then BAM you get YG fashion.

    ReplyDelete
  22. My oppars aren't wannabe gangsters, thank you. :P

    ReplyDelete
  23. Please blame Jeremy Scott for that, since he created every piece of monstrosity they're wearing in that picture. T__T

    ReplyDelete
  24. Who is plain in the US right now? Seriously? It's all eccentric and everyone is trying to be different just like YG.

It may have calmed down a bit, but then again so has YG's style, they are riding the wave so hard it's not even funny.

    ReplyDelete
  25. "Black fashion street clothes" consist of couture pieces from Chanel and Givenchy?

    REALLY?

    And sneakers from Christian Louboutin?

    WOW.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Not your oppars, but alot of oppars and unnies... Tiny story, when a member of kinda famous group performed in my country, when the photos came out, Kpop fans' coummunity is like "LOL is that GD?" because that guy wears exactly what GD wears in some of his concerts some months ago. Not anything big IMO though, everyone can buy clothes, but as artists, I think they should avoid something too similar.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yes, they do. Thanks to Kanye and Jay Z, black fashion has went from thug to high fashion. But since you're an ass who's probably stuck on that black street fashion consists of only thug style clothes, you probably wouldn't know that.

    ReplyDelete
  28. You're the one need to clam here friends... Just your opinion and mine aren't the same, let's end it here then. Peace.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Please refrain from speaking on fashion you obviously dont know shit about. Just because you can spout out a few designer names that doesn't mean shit. Black street fashion in heavily influenced by urban artists, jackass. Peep the fashion in hip-hop right now, almost everything BB wears, a hip-hop artist has worn even down to the skirt, it's just styled in a completely different manner a more masculine manner. Big Sean, Kanye, 2chainz, A$ap rocky, they all rock Givenchy, Chanel, Louboutin, Balmain, McQueen, whatever, and in turn street fashion has evolved in high fashion brands, I can't go out without seeing that damn Givenchy sweater with the dog on it. So, you can stfu.

BB is not in some special club because their company buys them brand names.

    ReplyDelete
  30. oh lord fashion now has a race.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Err are you sure? If you look at the famous black artists fashion they are sooooo plain compared the yg artists. Have you seen GD he wears bright pink pants, skirts, I don't see black street fashion like that at all.

    ReplyDelete
  32. It's common knowledge blacks started certain trends and created style, is it necessarily only theirs to wear, no, but don't deny the fact that it is indigenous to their culture (American Blacks) because that is disrespectful. So many people have stolen shit from them and called it their own already...

    ReplyDelete
  33. Because of that one time hair? they are nothing alike if you follow his fashion. He has pink hair now.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Well let's see. In the street fashion world, BOY became a popular brand in 2011, esp when Rihanna wore it. Look who started wearing it in 2012. CommesDesFuckdown became popular in 2011 as well, A$ap Rocky aided that brand, look who is wearing it in 2012. Givenchy sweaters became a trend around March of 2012 look who starts wearing them late 2012....

If you actually paid attention to "black" street fashion and what the trends are, you would know this already...

    ReplyDelete
  35. No... I can't even with people who try to speak on black artists fashion yet they don't even pay attention... Lil wayne has wore his fair share of crazy ass pants, and Kanye West has worn a skirt. Black artists keep their style masculine, Big Bang ventures into feminity with a lot of their outfits.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I didn't understand a word of the first sentence. You thinking YG has a more unique style is an opinion but you said US artists are plain as if it were a fact, and I'm asking who is plain? But it seems you can't give ma an answer so you decided to end the convo.

    ReplyDelete
  37. everything bigbang wears looks like the swag tag on tumblr, except taeyang. he looks like a fool. haha gotta love 'em tho (-:

    ReplyDelete
  38. u got some of your dates wrong but ok

    ReplyDelete
  39. Well your just nit picking. I've already looked at lil wayne and jay z etc and they are really different. You even said they are masculine. Overall they are so different.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Actually no. Rihanna started wearing BOY in 2011 when You da one came out, and she was already wearing it earlier in her casual wear. A$ap Rocky came out with Pesos in 2011 as well, which GD says he was influenced by and you can obviously tell he was, during that time he was rocking CommesDesFuckdown as a part of his "fashion", and Givenchy sweaters became popular through Kanye and Jay in 2012... so try again.

    ReplyDelete
  41. No, I'm just voiding your statement. You said you don't see that at all, and I corrected you. Don't get upset because you were wrong, and obviously since you had to look up Lil Wayne and Jay Z's fashion, you don't know shit about hip-hop fashion, so stop talking.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I question VIP's intelligence considering the only adjective in their vernacular is swag. They sound so fucking stupid. I was transported back to 2008-09 when everyone was yapping about swag.

    ReplyDelete
  43. imo swag is a term ive now only seen online, no longer used irl because its irrelevant and became too repetitive in daily use. but VIPs use it because im pretty sure thats how taeyang and gd described themselves. something like that? swag does sound stupid, but all we can do is pray certain VIPs dont use the same lingo off the internet, for their own good tbh

    ReplyDelete
  44. No point talking to you. You seem like everything you say is right kind of person. Anyway yg artists look more colorful and cuter in my opinion. And all the rest of kpop artists.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Nope, you can't talk to me because you're ignorant and talking to me would only show how much you don't know. YG stans do this all of the time, when someone who actually knows what they are talking about comes along they retreat. But, okay, whatever you say.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Oh your a yg hater I see. No need to say anything further.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Lol. This is another thing YG stans do. Did I say anything about YG? Did I say anything about not liking him or the artists? No. I said something about the fans, I'm sorry but not everybody who isn't kissing the ass of YG fans is a hater. Learn the definition. And it's "You're" not "Your"

    Take a seat.

    ReplyDelete
  48. they stand out from all the groups in Korea because of their fashion. say they try hard, true but they getting noticed for something positive.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Haters gonna hate :P

    ReplyDelete

    Lies! All lies!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Wow, the "discussion" in this comment section was really something... Something stupid that is... Big Bang and 2ne1 won "best band style" because whatever they wear, whether it is next seasons fashion or vintage. Whether its crazy colors, different patterns, prints or different name brands. Their looks are always well put together and sometimes they make sense and other times it doesn't. What matters the most is that no matter what they wear, they take it and make it their own and they wear it with style and confidence. And that makes them MTV 2012 best band style.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. 2NE1 didn't win.

    2. 2ne1 made it on the list along with Big Bang as "best band style 2012"

  52. How is the cancellation of come to play in positive dump..many ppl are upset that a good show is cancelled, and the way mbc cancelled a long term show without the proper farewell episode shows that the matter is handled badly

    ReplyDelete
  53. Yeah but wearing hideous clothes isn't that much of an improvement from looking like clones either.......:\

    ReplyDelete
  54. IDK....GD clothes sometimes.........
I don't think Jeremy Scott is behind it. He focus on 2NE1 more.

    ReplyDelete
  55. 2NE1 looks a hot mess when they dress themselves, and they rarely ever do that. They are styled on stage, styled at the airport, styled during events, and its obvious when they style themselves because you have CL trying too hard, Bom in shorts and a jacket, Dara is the only one that actually looks cute, and Minzy is a hit or miss most of the time.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I like YG artist but I'm on your side in this.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I didn't watch their stage so i don't know if they deserve it haha, but since HyeSung said it himself that winning or losing doesn't really affect him anymore, and he delivered such a breath taking performance like this one, i'm satisfied as a fan haha

    ReplyDelete
  58. YG style can be a hit or miss. One thing tho, is that it is never boring.

    ReplyDelete
  59. GD wore the Givenchy skirt way before Kanye tho. Besides, it's not until very recently that Hip Hop has become more experimental with fashion. Before 2009, who was really ~out there~ in terms of high fashion in Hip Hop besides Kanye West and to some smalller degree Pharelll Williams (but if you want to count oldies we can count Andre 3000 and Missy but they are way old)? No one bc it was "too gay". Meanwhile GD was in Korea singing with leather half sweaters and metallic pants and face make-up. You can't say that /everything/ Big Bang has worn has been copied from black street fashion bc I don't see any male American artist who can even come close to the more experimental Big Bang/GD looks. IMO to this day I still think American artists play too safe most of the time. I really want to see what would happen if someone like GD entered the scene.

BC no one does it quite like GD.

    1. Yes GD wore a skirt before kanye. People should stop trying so hard to discredit yg.

      Delete
  60. LOL NO.
I mean yes to GD and CL's inspirations.
But America is always SO LATE hahaha. Asia is way ahead, bro. Americans just don't embrace new trends as fast and easily as Asia and Europe. That's a fact. Also, YG is usually very up-to-date with trends. I follow fashion very closely and I can tell you that. A lot of things that are just getting popular this year or last year (Jeffrey Campbells, Mary Katrantzou), you will find on YG videos that are like 2-3 years old.

    ReplyDelete
  61. All these designers everyone has mentioned, are not just worn by the hip hop community. They are worn by anyone who is influenced by fashion all around the world so to say "oh they copy black street fashion" would be kind of close minded.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Can you really call it a style when they wear every piece from one designer?

    ReplyDelete
  63. You interpreted 'black street fashion' as the mainstream and trendy shit.
I interpreted 'black street fashion' as the original- occasional bandanas, big, loose shirts, and baggy jeans; the way BIGBANG dressed in their debut days..

I don't pay attention to trends in clothes because they change too quick. I'm not going to buy new clothes every time the trend changes o.O I wear what I want.

    ReplyDelete
  64. "1. [+293, -64] Looks like the west perfers YG's fashion... Big Bang does dress nicely, with of course G-Dragon at the center of that"

Not me. It's too over the top

    ReplyDelete
  65. YG , Bigbang indeed , creating buzzzzz

Love them or hete them, people keep talking about them.

Be it music, MV, or even fashion. Just wow. The effort of the haters are really something.

You don't like seeing Bigbang getting positive sump article? Live with it fellas.

    ReplyDelete
  66. U still got it wrong, and even if you were right these groups wouldn't deserve praise just because they keep updated about what's "trendy" isn't that what being "in" fashion means? to stay trendy? But well I'll just support my point with facts and pics, u should do the same if you want to be somewhat credible ;)

About BOY (London) brand: you say BB is copying it from "black street fashion" (lol now you've got to be black to wear a brand) because it became popular when rihanna started wearing it (end of 2011 talk that talk album - you da one MV if i'm not wrong) well BB used it in their bad boy concept (2012) but they have been wearing that brand since february 2011 tonight mini album promotions, pics below.

About CDF-AR I don't know I know they've been wearing commes des garçons since 2007 but fuckdowns idk...

About Givenchy sweaters becoming a trend around march 2012, Bigbang have been using those givenchy sweaters since 2011, (TOP and Daesung pic below extraordinary 20's photobook; Taeyang tomorrow MV) even 2NE1 used them last year (december 2011, pc below CL and Minzy) before it became a trend (march 2012 according to you..)

We cang go on and on with many other brands, like balmain 2ne1 has been using it since debut (2009 mama awards) and still do, the same with chrome hearts which BB has used even since 2008, MGM since forever too, and they even have customized items that are new and surprise us, (for ex 2ne1 I am the best jackets) louboutin, T.UK, Azzedine Alaïa, Gareth pugh (metal dresses for 2ne1) etc, etc, etc...

You tell people to pay attention fashion and trends, but you don't even seem to know yourself when these became trendy and when BB started wearing them or even when Rihanna started wearing them :/

    ReplyDelete
  67. check my comment above, BB has been wearing BOY before rihanna and Givenchy before Kanye...so try again :l

    ReplyDelete
  68. Lol so you know who my oppas are? Or if I even like male groups?
It's not as if Big Bang's fashion was not copied or inspired from others.

    Nice try, butthurt VIP.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I understand you're a big A$AP Rocky fan judging from your name, but the actual brand "Commes Des Garcon" has been popular in Korea for years, it's a Japanese brand.

"Black street fashion" is an incorrect term. Also fashion changes based on what area/state you're in. If you were to go to a HBCU in the east right now, NO ONE would be wearing what Jay-Z & Kanye wear. They would be rocking Urban Outfitters and Zara and Jordans & etc. Basically they don't look anything like Big Bang. All you have to do is look on tumblr.

What these rappers wear is high fashion that only they can afford. Big Bang has been into high fashion since they could afford it too. Just because Kanye who is black wears Givenchy, which is only one of the many high fashion brands he rocks, doesn't make that fashion BLACK.

Listen, all these artists have stylists, people who went to fashion school and know every single designer out there. They know the trends and let's just say fashion is more complicated than you think.

Essentially all you have to do is compare Big Bang, American rappers, & though you may be able to pick out a few similarities in brands. The overall styling or look will be different.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Yup, YG started getting into high fashion around 2009. The actual brands are irrelevant because once you get into high fashion they're a bunch of different brands to pick and choose from especially when you can afford everything.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Anyone calling YG fashion 'try-hard' would probably gouge their eyes out if they were to ever visit Tokyo.

    ReplyDelete
  72. pretty much agree. they're really hitting into the untapped Japanese street fashions and calling it their own. along with what they've always been doing, which is styling their artists with western designers, but in the over-the-top, kpop way. the only reason they've managed to be distinguished from the get go is their devotion to not dressing everyone in the group with the same thing.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Hi, can I marry your comment.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Wow, You clearly know nothing about styling.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Is it just me.. or is it that Hyesung puts himself back and just presents the song in the most beautiful way? Like.. He himself isn't that important but the song?
Thus the Song is delivered so.. astonishing... That shows his years long experience.. I fell in love with him and his talent / voice all over again.. :3

    ReplyDelete
  76. His stage was really amazing, imo not always the one who wins was the best one tho, their system is kinda faulty. Anyways I watch IS for the performances not for the winners, but sometimes it's just really random who they choose as winner lol

    ReplyDelete
  77. O__O i had to pinch myself because I couldnt believe big bang was included in the positive dump... but yeah.. YG style all the way! ... -except from some stuff GD wears..! i cant with some of his outfits and hairstyles x.x-

    ReplyDelete
  78. Great thought, thanks for sharing :)

    ReplyDelete
  79. actually is getting boring, its always the same predictable clothes, using tooo much colors making it look weird and voila for me it gets boring

    ReplyDelete
  80. well i p´refer other idols who yeah wear normal clothes but one day can have a cute image and next a sexy image and so rather than have the same type of clothes like yg artists

    ReplyDelete
  81. If you read his recent interview, you'll see how much he treasures each song he sings. Changing from an idol who wanted to sing with skill and leave big impression to a singer who simply wants to stay faithful to the song and delivers it sincerely :) And thus we have HyeSung as who he is, today XD

    ReplyDelete
  82. Ah yeah, i thought HyeSung might have a better chance if he was to perform later. His voice keeps lingering in my head as i watch the show go on. I think B1A4 was good, too. Although they didn't trigger my emotion the way HyeSung did, they were definitely very impressive.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Oh, I guess I haven't read that interview.. Thanks for telling me! :)
Well.. you can see, it works. :3 ♥

    ReplyDelete
  84. wow look at all of the thumb downs. you are telling the truth.
    koreaboos stay mad

    ReplyDelete
  85. ahahhaa dont pay attention to these people.. they really only know kpop and thats about it.

i live in ny and i know exactly what you are talking about a lot of these fashions started from black people.

    ReplyDelete
  86. you can check out GD on instagram. he is constantly liking photos from famous american rappers, he loves their fashion and looks.
his swag is jacked from hip hop. kk.

    ReplyDelete
  87. lolll omg i really like ur comment^^
