Eunhyuk viewed as the victim in IU's scandal, double standards at work?

Article: 'Come to Play' Eunhyuk reveals thoughts on first broadcast "Why did I have to join at a time like this..."

Source:
Newsen via Nate

Eunhyuk kind of/sort of mentioned his scandal with IU on the show and MCs pressed him for more answers but he left it ambiguous.

1. [+261, -116] If you think about it, Eunhyuk's the nice guy. Whether it was a mistake or not, it was IU that uploaded the picture so why's Eunhyuk even receiving hate?

2. [+265, -127] He shouldn't have even brought it up if he's not going to talk about everything or clarify anything. Did he intend to use it as a gag or to bring up viewer ratings? People are always telling half the story and leaving it at that.

3. [+215, -106] Honestly, I feel bad for him

4. [+54, -20] Anchovy's the victim here... IU's the one that uploaded the photo. He got attacked for doing nothing ㅡㅡ

5. [+44, -25] The double standards are hilarious. IU or anyone around her has never once mentioned the scandal since it happened, but Eunhyuk and his show hosts are joking about it on TV. This is the reality of our country. A male and female will get into a scandal with very different results. Everyone around the male will ask how it was or if he liked it and laugh it off, but for the female, she has to endure awkward silences, gossips, rumors, people talking behind her back and calling her a slut. Such a bitter reality, isn't it? They both had consenting sex and they both enjoyed it, so why treat them differently?

lol had fun reading it ^^

  2. "1. [+261, -116] If you think about it, Eunhyuk's the nice guy. Whether it was a mistake or not, it was IU that uploaded the picture so why's Eunhyuk even receiving hate?"
What the fuck is wrong with those people? Do they think IU chose to upload the picture? It was a mistake on her part, but Eunhyuk wasn't forced to take the pic with IU after they had sex (or w/e), was he? Or maybe IU tricked him by doing innocent aegyo and she raped Eunhyuk?? urgh.
The last comment is the best. Especially the last phrase.

Ah seriously, I'm so pissed :'|

  3. as long as you feel bad for IU too then there's no problem feeling bad for eunhyuk. if it's just one then that's wrong. there shouldn't be a 'scandal' if you dont want to involve eunhyuk. the reason those stupid netizens hate on IU is cause she supposedly had sex with him, so how can eunhyuk be at no 'fault'. it took 2 to fuck. IU's a victim of yall's prudeness.

    ReplyDelete
  4. If it was the other way around and he posted the pic, then I'm pretty sure Eunhyuk would be bashed like crazy for destroying IU's image and everyone would call him a jerk or something.

But I don't think he deserves to be criticized since we all know that IU posted the picture and automatically dragged Eunhyuk into all that mess.

    ReplyDelete
  5. seems like netizens supports eunhyuk.

I'm kind of happy that they are not bashing him.

and wasn't it Yoo Jaesuk who indirectly brought the scandal? Allkpop says like that. :/

  6. maybe because some people thinks its not even a sex scandal and eunhyuk got brought into it for no reason. Just because IU accidentally posted the pic. Honestly, from the picture they could be really be just close friend too.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Honestly, I don't see any hate comments about IU too. What double standard are they talking about?
All I see are just perverted comments towards IU which are made by her own ajjhushi fans.

    ReplyDelete
  8. nope. people that watch the show said Eunhyuk is the one that brought this thing first...

    ReplyDelete
  9. lmao are you joking, just go into any iu articles netizenbuzz has translated. full of hate.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Yes I agree a lot of double standards do exist no question but at the end of everything IU uploaded it. She was the one who brought it out not eunhyuk. If Eunhyuk uploaded it than he would prob get bashed as well.....

  11. Eunhyuk is the best, he's f*cking 16 year old girls, dude is a pro.
IU has all the fault in this scandal.

    ReplyDelete
  12. The 5th comment should be the 1st.

    ReplyDelete
  13. IU is at fault for uploading the picture...

But Eunhyuk is to blame for IU's suffering. He was also in the picture. He actively took part in a relationship with IU. Instead of trying to protect her, as a proper boyfriend should, he's letting her take all the heat.

Some people are forgetting that it takes TWO to tango.

    100% agree with this.

  15. Eunhyuk was the one that brought the scandal in the show, IDK if he wants more attention or more "aww poor oppa" from the fans.

    ReplyDelete
  16. He's like a hero for many dudes out there and she's like a horny fake innocent girl.

  17. i thought eun ji won left the show and jay park joined?

  18. everyone keeps saying how eunhyuk should take the blame and stand up for IU but how do you suppose he'd do that when he's under SM? i'm pretty sure as her boyfriend (or ex w/e), he would be at her side at a time like this if he had the power to. he is nothing more than SM's puppet so even if he wanted to protect IU, if SM forbid him to get involved, he'd have to oblige.
im not a super junior fan but i've seen one or two of their shows and i remember that one time super junior played a prank on him and were pretending to fight and eunhyuk tried to break it up and eventually ended up crying. i don't think he's the type to just stand by while his friends got hurt.

    1. sme loves to be in control but it seems that sme let SuJu to deal with it - either way they would't let questions, insinuations (as IU's company does)
It is up to Eunhyuk to answer back or not... he choose to keep his mouth shut... whatever he will say it won't affect only him but the other members too

  19. Are you a Umechan fan?? :OOO

    ReplyDelete
  20. IU raped Eunhyuk with a strap on

    ReplyDelete
  21. there's also the possiblity that they broke up already

    ReplyDelete
  22. i dont think it is double standards for this situation, if you think about it.. iu honestly is the reason for this "scandal" because the photo was uploaded on her twitter.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yes, IU made a mistake with her inept technological skills. But if that's the reason that people are blaming her and not Eunhyuk, then why are there more comments about how IU's a slut and how she has a false image than comments criticizing her lack of technological skill? The hate obviously isn't about IU's stupidity but about how she's been hiding her true character; it's not about the act of uploading the photo, but about what happened before they took the photo. How can anyone say that this ISN'T a double standard if IU's taking the brunt of the criticism for having sex with Eunhyuk? Personally, I don't think either of them deserve to be hated, but it's ridiculous that people are denying the double standards.

    ReplyDelete
  24. It doesn't matter. Whether they're together or not, he should respect her as an adult/colleague/friend and take responsibility for what HE also did.

Even if they did break up, whether it was amicable or not, what kind of man lets a woman suffer? The things IU are being called are really horrible, while he gets away scott-free being seen as a victim.

And a victim of WHAT? What exactly is he a victim of?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Take responsibility? "yeah I fucked my legal girlfriend, I'm sorry for not posting up the picture"

What did he do wrong? If it wasnt for someone else's mistake, none of this shit would've happened and that's the thing here. Iu is the one who posted it, she's the one with the innocent image, she's the one who said she never kissed before. Im a SJ fan but not a fan of Eunhyuk in particular. Everyone already knows of his playful image. Heechul had said before that Eunhyuk is the type who is never at the dorms even until late at night. His image wasn't holy Mary like IUs.

honestly don't think he did anything wrong enough to the point of getting hated. The only dumb ones saying he fcked an underage girl is all assumptions made by people who want to see him suffer. The picture is recent and IU is legal and so Eunhyuk can go ahead and hit it if he wants. Ahjusshis can cry all they want.

    ReplyDelete
  26. APPLAUSE FOR COMMENT NO.5 /end.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Eunhyuk will forever be a creep in my eyes for getting with an underage star (considering the evidence of WHEN the relationship started)... I wonder what other young star he's sleeping with rn...

    ReplyDelete
  28. actually no ! the female MC was the one to bring the subject, the same thing happened during Star King and Hello, Eunhyuk didn't say anything, he was keeping a low profile, but the MCs made allusion so what choice did he have ? he chose to laugh about it rather than getting angry which is understable since he is just a rookie amongst them !

    ReplyDelete
  29. people don't understand that Eunhyuk can't protect her since their both agencies already made a statement about this scandal ! plus trying to protect her will only have the opposite effect ! it will bring more haters.
him and IU need to stay quiet and maybe it would be easier for them if the MCs stop making allusions about this scandal but somehow they are trying to help them because if it becomes a joke in the industry, it will make the scandal less important.

    ReplyDelete
  30. actually not it was the female MC

    ReplyDelete
  31. if eunhyuk uploaded the pic we wont be even talking about double standard
but because Iu uploaded it now they are talking about double standardor

    ReplyDelete
  32. but only need ONE to press the self destruct button :D

    ReplyDelete
  33. Love the questionmark in the article title - as if the answer to the question isn't blindingly obvious.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Its also a double standard to expect him to clean up the mess she caused. Posting a picture of someone without their permission, in the US could lead to a suit if the person does not want their picture uploaded. He is not to blame for her suffering, it was her mistake. If me and you were to take an incriminating picture and you got into trouble for uploading it, why should I be punished for what you did?

    ReplyDelete
  35. what did he do? have an intimate relationship? that's not against the law. People demand equality of sexes but don't mean it in all aspects.

    ReplyDelete
  36. What is wrong with our world today. Someone please enlighten me what the both of them did wrong. Why is "right" or "wrong" even being discussed in this whole photo issue? Why is the revealing of a picture of IU and Eunhyuk by IU even an issue? Why are we even discussing who is the victim and who is not!?

And to netizen 5: I don't think what the netizens say about Hyukjae were any less mean that what netizens say of IU. It's not like he didn't suffer from awkward silences on shows. He just chose to bring it up and laugh it off so that it will be less awkward.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Welcome to the world of k-pop media where netizens make a big fuss over nothing and run people through the mud all the time according to their own immaturity, prejudices and narrow worldview. Enjoy your stay.

    ReplyDelete
  39. If you think uploading that picture was a mistake by IU you are fucked up in the head.

    ReplyDelete
  40. there's no such thing as a 'self destruct button'. this isn't a cartoon.

  47. Why is no one talking about their age difference? What the hell was a man his age doing with a young teenage girl?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Where in my response did I say that I though he should "clean up the mess she caused".

I said that Eunhyuk shouldn't have let IU take all the heat.

The shade everyone is throwing at IU is because the contents of that photo completely contradict everything about her image. IU gets called a "loose whore" and Eunhyuk is the victim.

It takes TWO people to have a relationship.
It takes TWO people to fuck.
There were TWO people consenting to be in that photo.

Why is IU the whore and Eunhyuk the victim?

Like I said, Eunhyuk shouldn't have let IU take all the heat. Yes, it was her fault for accidentally uploading the damn thing. But after that happened, both IU and Eunhyuk had two choices: Deny it ever happened or come clean about it.

Apparently, Eunhyuk and SM saw a third option which was to say absolutely nothing and let the Netizens say all this shit about her.

It doesn't take a genius to know that when it comes to public relations, a united front is the best way to go. When two people are involved in a scandal and one denies it while the other just chooses to ignore it completely, it sends a message of dishonesty—hence, the current situation.

Eunhyuk is perfectly happy to let Netizens paint him as the victim because it's not like his career as the ugliest person in Super Junior could sink any lower, but IU... the person in the industry who had EVERYTHING to lose... everything is gone because of his selfish choice to do nothing.

Fuck him. Fuck SM. And fuck you for being a blind moron.

    ReplyDelete
  49. You're obviously either extremely short-sighted or just plain ignorant.

Carry on. Say something else that makes you look like a narrow-minded fool.

    ReplyDelete
  50. lol oh look a conspiracy theorist

    ReplyDelete
  51. Wouldn't you tap a fresh piece of girl like IU?

It's not like he raped her forcefully, age difference isn't much that to be honest. There are girls loosing their virginity at younger ages all over the world and she was definitely older than 18 at that time.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Do you use twitter or you are still stucked up with ICQ and MSN?

You can't be seriously thinking that it is common to upload wrong pictures to twitter over your smart phone.. Especially that frickin picture out of maybe 200 or more photos in your twitter.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Murder is quite different from accidental killing.

Murder is when you kill someone with the intent to kill. It can be pre-meditated (first degree) or not pre-meditated (second degree).

Accidental killing, also known as "manslaughter", also comes in two degrees: voluntary ("heat of passion" murder... like if you get into an argument with someone and shove them into a glass coffee table and they die) and involuntary (negligent act that leads to someone's death... like drunk driving).

As INTENT is what determines what type of crime it was and what type of punishment it gets.

    You're welcome.

  54. i don't care if he kept silent, but he JOKED about it. fck. fck my life.

    ReplyDelete
  55. then shut up. don't make joke about it just to pull rating out of it.

    ReplyDelete
  56. It's not like she is saying anything. he is being hated on too. The difference that he has never had an image of innocence and he has never made money out of that.IU is a great solo artist but her fan base is mainly composed of people who loved her for that. Even if she didnt want or chose it, she still built her career on it. She is getting screwed over by her own fans and by people who never liked her to begin with. If he says anything it could confirm the situation and make it even worst. How can you know he has never wanted to say anything? What if the companies want it this way. You cant expect him to do something that could make matters worst. Plus is not like he is not in the age to have a relationship. The silence and denial came from LOEN. If something is not a problem or and issue, like her agency has made it seem, one of them speaking out could make matters worst and confirm something that maybe never happened. In things like this is better to leave it alone.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I bet u wouldnt say the same if it was Eunhyuk who posted the pic

    ReplyDelete
  63. lol what did he do?
he's the one who got buttraped by IU

and let's backtrack to how this shitstorm even came about in the first place
dumbfuck IU "accidentally" uploading that stupid photo on her twitter and keeping it there for like 15 mins

    what a dumb bitch really

and now you want Eunhyuk to come out and fix this shitstorm IU created? please. he cares about his own behind more than anyone else, as if he would risk outting himself to the public.

    ReplyDelete
  64. i watched the show too and i confirm that the female MC brought the subject first in the first 10 minutes of the show ! if you're talking about the face to face between Eunhyuk and Kwanghee, Eunhyuk indeed said "lately i have hard times" that's all, he didn't say IU's name.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Yeah sure he's the victim here, poor him having sex with a minor. Poor man, suuuure.

    ReplyDelete
  66. some comments on here are hilarious. it's not about who posted the picture, it's about the fact that they may have had a relationship. so, how many people are in a relationship? 2 people. i think people's brain and reasoning functions must be off or something 'cause no where else can you actually blame the teenager more than a 20 something year old guy. there is a thing called maturity and age difference.

    ReplyDelete
  67. FUCK YOU MORE. YOU DONT KNOW EVERYTHING. WE DONT KNOW EVERYTHING. YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS TO SAY SUCH THINGS JUST BECAUSE OF YOUR THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS. MAYBE YOU ARE A PERSON WHO CLAIMED TO BE INTELLECTUAL BUT DON'T KNOW ANYTHING BEHIND! BACK OFF. YOU LOSER.

    ReplyDelete
  68. The 5th comment, what the hell? IU was the one uploaded the photo and Hyuk was the one subjected to the criticism.
What can you do on the show when the olders push you to talk about the problem that you don't want to mention?-Make it hilarious!
Eunhyuk just did a great job!

    ReplyDelete
  69. i think the reason he didn't take responsibility for it is because they broke up already

  73. Its not IU to be blame...because theres a big POSSIBILITY that Eunhyuk can use IUs twitter and uploaded it up.

    ReplyDelete
  74. LMAO. XD

It's not like eunhyuk raped her right? IU at least has brain to think, and she obviously concious over her decision to date anyone.

Come on, comeback to your sense.

Lastly, what does underage mean? do you seriously think that people only do sex after they turn 20?

(FYI, IU is 20 years old)

    ReplyDelete
  75. So does that mean you know anything? I don't understand your motive in this message. What are you trying to say? What kind of insight are you trying to provide?

    ReplyDelete
  76. The whole imagery thing is a total mess. While I agree that some silence is necessary, I disagree that her fans hate her for that. I for one am a little surprised at first, but she is first human before all else. IU's fans as I see it are also a little different; they're more supportive than any other fandom I've seen thus far. The anger coming from IU's fans is not sourced from the incident, but the fact that LOEN made IU quiet about it and releasing their statement instead. Suppose IU did be honest, there will be some kind of explosion happening, but the fans "would" be relaxed. But since the exact opposite happened, well we have antis running rampant with the whole incident. Both parties should have been silent or honest, not half of each; no explanation should've been provided as it only made things messier.

But I want to reemphasize on one important thing; it's just a picture. Everything that everyone has commented on, has been nothing but fantasy. Up to now, no truth has been revealed.

    ReplyDelete
  77. 'ya don't even know if anything started. Cut the speculations.

    ReplyDelete
  78. You can't deny that it was a possibility. No need for any conspiracy theory; simple logic says anything and everything is possible.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I agree, this also mean that she could have and couldn't have done it. Both are possible(not that is something bad but for lack of better words or way to describe it) she is neither "guilty" or "innocent",

    ReplyDelete
  80. Yes, that's exactly how simple the situation is.. But of course, not one person is willing to think like that so, it can't be helped.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Don't forget that I said "not innocent". Either side can't be completely proven. I choose not hate on her or trash her name but I'm not about to protect her a defend her. Don't worry though , I've never liked her to begin with. Neither side has prove, and they chose silence as the best way to deal with it, so we won't know the "truth" until eunhyuk and IU give their undisclosed comments, which will probably never happen. And for someone who lived on her image more than her talent, her fans have to hope that she will "live" through it

    ReplyDelete
  82. What's up friends, nice article and fastidious arguments commented here, I am actually enjoying by these.

  83. Wtf, I'm a big fan of super junior, yes but it doesn't mean we protect them all the times! That's really disrespectful, plus in this situation eunhyuk isn't in the right or wrong. Heck! He wasn't even the one who uploaded that damn photo, and he wasn't the one who started that damn topic! Okay, maybe it's weird that he was dating such a young girl, yeah, okay! So shut the fuck up about ELFs we are not delusional thank you very much and go dig a hole :)

    ReplyDelete
  84. IU wasn't she like 20? Ang how do u know if they are sex or not...plus he did not rape her!

    ReplyDelete
  85. Wtf! If eunhyuk didn't make a joke about it, the show would've been a disaster...he can't just "forget" that his profession is being an idol, just because of this scandal! Like any other profession, working should have no feelings attached. Plus, he did a good job getting himself out of the situation!
