Doojoon earns praise for his thoughts on 'Happy Together'

Article: 'Happy Together' Yoon Doojoon's take on dating shows respect and the concerns of idols

Source: Sports Chosun via Nate

Editorial spotlighting Doojoon for the attention he's been receiving for his guesting on 'Happy Together'. He earned a lot of points for his manners and respectful actions, like refusing to call any female idols or share their numbers on the show because he wanted to respect their privacies and how he wouldn't go public with his relationship if he were dating out of respect for her because his life is already so exposed as an idol.

1. [+175, -13] I saw Happy Together last night because I heard Kim Min Jung would be on it. All this time, I thought Yoon Doojoon was just a handsome gorilla, but watching him on the show made me see that he's very respectful and reacts well to everything his seniors say. I think he's an okay idol.

2. [+151, -30] A celebrity is a human being so of course they can date, but these people wouldn't exist if not for their fans. The reason Seo Taiji kept his marriage a secret was because of his fans. It's the fans that are buying every new album, running streams, and doing support events. It's wrong to go public with your relationship when you think of that;; Fans are people and it's hard to act like it's okay when their favorite artist is dating someone else. Still, I like Yoon Doojoon's view on this. At first glance, he looks 'just nice' but if you look closer, he's actually very handsome.

3. [+79, -6] I've always liked Doojoon ever since he was called 'boyfriend idol' and 'athletic idol'. Seeing him on the show yesterday showed that he works hard on his acting and shows respect to his seniors. He seems like a good guy~

  1. But everytime I look at him I think of when he made those face after seeing a large fan in guerilla date. I should stop thinking of him that way OTL

  2. i'm not buying #2 at all. seo taiji keeping his marriage secret was freakish. it's not respect for fans, it's coddling crazy people.

"Fans are people and it's hard to act like it's okay when their favorite artist is dating someone else"

"Someone else"? if fans want to think they have a chance with their idol, that's fine. but just because you buy albums doesn't mean your bias is obligated to help you maintain a fantasy world where you two could be dating.

  6. I disliked him ever since this:

Japanese women have the image of a woman who walks a step behind a man without telling a word. In the relationship too, they encourage men. Since I’m a conservative type, I have a good feeling toward such women. My ideal type is a woman like Dakeuchi Yuko, innocent and bright. Rather than dark makeup, I prefer a no-makeup face. And if her no-makeup face is cute, my heart will flutter. I think there are quite many men like this. If I had a girlfriend, I want go with her to England and watch Manchester United’s match together. Even if she isn’t interested in soccer, if she is trying to have fun together or showing a face making an effort, I think I’ll like her even more.”

Sounds like a conservative asshole who thinks women should be in the kitchen. And then his behavior on Guerilla Date was just the cherry on top.

  7. Yeah, even if he's respectful to older idols some of his views are clearly misogynistic

  8. Well, I think it's a good idea for celebrities to try to keep their relationships secret simply because they have a right to privacy. However, I don't condone lying about it either. Pretending to be single just so your fans will keep supporting you seems hypocritical in some way. Plus it just seems to encourage crazy fan behaviour.

  9. wtf he said that? ughhh i dislike men like that so much..

  10. i used to like b2st all of the members seem like jerks to me now, they should watch what they say

  11. too bad he's an ugly asshole lol

  12. i used to like b2st for their music, but i didnt really follow them. after that article about doojoon & the large fan, i started to notice people telling tons of negative things about dujun himself and other members. lots of my favorite oppas are close with them so i dont know what to think :( dongwoon still look like an angel to me tho...

  13. he was describing his ideal woman, not his opinion of women in general.

    ReplyDelete
  14. And his ideal woman is someone stuck in the 50s. Try again.

    ReplyDelete
  15. so, do we have to question his preference?lol Korea is conservative, he is conservative. culture+upbringing+age. and my point is he is NOT describing women in general.

    ReplyDelete
  16. You are making no sense. Yes, I am going to judge him for his "preference". You do realize that if he's talking about his ideal woman like that he'd like every woman to be like this?
And don't bring up conservative Korea as an excuse. Other idols have described their ideal types and they don't reek of sexism.
Oppar didn't mean it at its best.

    ReplyDelete
  17. fine have it your way then, since you're so intent on misunderstanding him. lol

    ReplyDelete
  18. lol okay, explain to me how am I "misunderstanding" him? And you know him so well?
I'm gonna take a wild guess, you're a girl, right? How would you feel if your bias wanted his girlfriend to be basically stuck in prehistory? He doesn't want his girlfriend to be his partner, he doesn't want her to be equal to him.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Have you watched that show? I believe that there was something about how the host said he'd pick the lightest girl in the crowd for Doojoon to carry, and then proceeded to do the exact opposite; yes, that sounds like an excuse, but it's not as if he saw a fat person and made a face in horror.

    ReplyDelete
  20. well m sure he didn't do it intentionally if you know Doojoon well or look at his expressions closely, sticking out his tongue is one of his habit which you can see in his live performances, in airport almost everywhere when he is in mood of fun or he is really happy. Making faces, sticking out his tongue, hitting people around him when he is laughing hard are some of his habits so i'll say that day also his habit of sticking out his tongue made wrong impression.

    ReplyDelete
  21. well i think every person have their own ideal girl /boy inside their mind.and i don't think he had said anything rude either. If he like such women then its his choice we can't blame him for that. And it should be the heart which should be pure rather than fake face covered by makeup.Talking about the gorilla date he didn't do it intentionally sticking out his tongue is one of his habit. And plz don't try to be good everyone here is the same.I am sure if we were also told to do the same we have been shocked also its obvious no one here is that kind. So stop blaming and look at yourself

    ReplyDelete
  22. Wahh i think Doojoon is right on his place. Every one in this industry does so because they don't want their fan followers to be decreased. If he was forward with his point doesn't mean he is an asshole or what other people saying negative about him if their idol are not saying anything does not mean they are different from other. Come on people wake up this is the industry where idols have to do such tactics no one want their fans to be decreased. They are humans not robots who can never have a love life and get married. If you would have been in their place you would have done the same. Saying such things is easy but to handle and face them as an idol is difficult. At last i would just like to finish the topic with this quote

"Always put yourself in other people's shoes. If you feel that it hurts you, it probably hurts the person too."

Read it carefully then give your suggestion rather than coming to a point.
    So chill

    ReplyDelete
  23. Are you fucking serious? He has no place to dictate what a woman should wear or how much make-up she puts. Get back in the 50s since you clearly like that mentality.
Yeah, right. He intentionally stuck that tongue and you know that very well. He made fun of one of his fans just because she was not stick thin. And don't go around making assumptions, a lot of other kpop idols have been nothing but gracious to fans they are not used to meet. You are seriously the worst kind of fans.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Oh please give me a break first read what he had said then react. He is not posing anything to women what they should wear or how much makeup they should apply he is just saying that he prefer a women with less make-up. Ohk and let me tell you m not making any assumptions at all for other kpop idols and why would i do that i am a kpop fan. Just we don't know every person personally does not mean we have the rights to say anything. I am just saying Doojoon is just over expressive and its his habit. Ya he did made a mistake but thats not the way of speaking at all. Talking about being me as a worst fan i don't think i am a worst fan at all i am just putting my point of view to others as a fan and m sure if your idol why only your every one here whose idol have been blamed like that they had probably done what i am doing now. And ya its true if i was in place of that girl i would have felt the same but haven't hated him. At least if i am his fan. Other than if you call me crazy, worst fan or whatever you like to call me you can i will not blame you for that because you have your point of you and i have mine. As a b2uty i have atleast that much understanding and faith on my Idol.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Idk him on a personal level, same as you. If my bias is setting a
standard for his girl, then I'll be fine with it because everybody has
her/his own 'ideal type', so why couldn't he?It's not as if I'm gonna
marry him anyway.lol Do I really need to elaborate how you're
misunderstanding him? It is basically what you are doing now, "He
doesn't want his girlfriend to be his partner, he doesn't want her to be
    equal to him."

So you know him on that 'personal level' to
assume he doesn't want his girl to be equal to him just because of his
ideal girl based on an interview & variety show? Our ideal type
changes as we got older, from being idealistic we become realistic, and
Doojoon is not an exception. Doojoon has an older sister, btw.lol

    ReplyDelete
  26. Why are you replying to a two month old conversation? You're really showing your colors here. Go and defend your shitty bias to someone who actually cares.

But let me just tell you something. If someone says "I only like white girls" then that person is racist. You can't argue with that. Doojoon described his ideal girl in a misogynist way ergo he is sexist. Period. You are free to like him, I could care less. But stop defending him. This and his behavior on Guerrilla Date showed what a prick he is. And what the hell does the fact that he has an older sister have to do with this? Is this the new "my best friend is black" excuse?

    ReplyDelete
  27. wow. you're actually pissed. control freak, aren't you? Now, I can't even reply to a convo I am involved with, even if its an old conversation?
And why would I stop defending him when you are free to outright dissed him? You are pissed with his actions, so I am trying to rationalize it through a conversation.
racist now you say, when he is just setting a standard for his 'ideal girl'. He's not even generalizing women in general. That's what I am trying to say.
Sexist? And I disagree. case in point: he has an older sister who taught him to play gongi since he was a kid. Gongi is a game girls played in Korean, yet he played it with his noona & proud to tell he knows to play it.
sexist and racist you say, because of that 'Gorilla incident' yet he used to be fat, and to quote his statement, "do not ignore neighbors who look like this (him & Gikwang's not so flattering pix), they might become idols someday".
There is a reason why this issue is not even a big deal in Korea. (when Koreans are known to be nitpicking over almost everything about their artists)Because that is how they're culture and society works. Shin Bong Seon, Kim Shin Young, Kang Ho Dong, to name these variety veterans, who're using their weight as a running joke in K-entertainment.
Feel free not to like him but don't expect people or fans who actually follow him to just keep mum when you're using his word and action against him maliciously.
You're free to ignore me btw, Im not a control freak.lol

    ReplyDelete
  28. lol I'm not pissed. Or a control freak.

First of all, a question: is English your second language? I'm asking this as I do not understand some of your arguments at all. He is not sexist because his sister taught him some game when he was a kid? How is that in any way relevant? That makes absolutely no sense. His description of his ideal girl refutes your claim immediately. He wants someone to follow him. Not to be his equal. By all definitions sexism is the feeling of a superior sex. Which is what Doojoon has displayed.

Er, the racist thing was an example. It was in no way to related to Doojoon. I have no clue what gorilla thing you were talking about. But what the hell, he said not to ignore dark skinned people as they might turn out to be idols??? Jesus, this guy is a dick. How about do not treat these people because you're a decent fucking human being? God, he gets worse and worse. I did not care you were defending him so much, but now I am seriously judging you.

I don't care this issue was not big in Korea. Many other despicable issues were also not big in Korea. We all know Koreans have problems with judging and celebrities, just look at all the initial victim blaming of Park Shihoo's rape case. Again, what's your point? Because this was not a big issue in Korea it means he's not wrong?

    ReplyDelete
  29. No, english is not my first language, and it shows, a lot.LOL
    I see...and I'll say you're quick to judge people.

because I can feel the tone of your posts. I can't help but to assume...you don't just hate him. you were hurt and with a reason (from experience) I guess.

and with that, I rest my case. we both said our piece and let's just agree to disagree. ><

  30. bitches keep talking. Doojoon is nation boyfie. Nothing you can do to change it. Admit it, you guys just jealous.
