2013 map of girl group popularity

Article: 2013 girl group map 'Soshi Empire'

Source: Mydaily via Nate

1. [+439, -62] Why is T-ara there...

2. [+384, -93] Girl group otakus shouldn't be fighting with each other. Unite under your mutual love for girl groups.

3. [+181, -43] The current official fancafe rankings:
1. SNSD 270,000
2. IU 140,000
3. Wonder Girls 90,000
4. 2NE1 90,000
5. f(x) 60,000
6. KARA 50,000
7. A Pink 40,000

4. [+101, -39] I think Soshi is the best for now

5. [+93, -50] I'm a 22 year old woman and I think Soshi is the prettiest and the best ㅠㅠ

6. [+89, -37] It's right that Soshi has the biggest empire. Even if they didn't promote that much this time, Taetiseo really did well. SISTAR grew a lot and f(x) also gained a lot of popularity

7. [+76, -35] Soshi's really the top... Each and every member is charming where even girls think they're pretty!

8. [+74, -29] If Soshi isn't the top, then who is you haters? Soshi's the first to hit daebak with a unit group and f(x) grew a lot this year too. T-ara's basically over with and IU's dropped considerably as well

9. [+66, -10] What the heck is up with Crayon Pop? Did a Crayon Pop fan make this? Trying to slyly sneak it in? I've heard of Hello Venus and SPICA, but what is Crayon Pop?

10. [+62, -27] As someone who attended Soshi's comeback show, let me assure that you'll find out why Soshi is the top once you see their "I Got a Boy" stage

  1. lol why is crayon pop there?
"[+384, -93]Girl group otakus shouldn't be fighting with each other. Unite under your mutual love for girl groups".I agree with this. I'm a fangirl but i prefer girl groups over boy groups. Girls Power FTW!

  2. I was happy to see Crayon Pop get on their, even though it's kinda suspicious lol but their latest song is soooooooo hilarious

  3. srly, who are they?? I never heard of this girl group..

    ReplyDelete
  4. "Sad to see some of my favourite groups aren't on this :(" - every generic comment.

    ReplyDelete
  5. there are more than 50 girl groups in Korea, I guess the relevant ones are in the map.

    ReplyDelete
  6. What about boy groups? is Big Bang bigger than DBSK/JYJ/SuJu ?

    ReplyDelete
  7. i laughed when i saw Suzy getting her own part x) but how is crayon pop almost as huge as After School and a pink tough :o

  8. LETS ALL BE HONEST HERE , IF T-ARA SCANDAL NEVER HAPPENED ALL YOU BANDWAGONERS AND ANTIS AND HYPOCRITES WOULD BEEN ALL ON THEY ASS SO STOP . THEY WOULD'VE BEEN IN #3 . But it did so I understand why netizen (cyber thugs ) are upset but they WILL give up. T-ara find strength ! HWAYOUNG TOO! I know that it was a misunderstanding and I still believe in T-ara . Congrats to SNSD and all other kpop groups who made it on the list .

  9. Based on awesomeness they deserve to be there, but as far as popularity is concerned Crayon Pop shouldn't be on there yet(I say this as a huge Crayon Pop fan) ^^

  10. Hope Sistar and my Miss A girls kick some serious ass next year. Also hope to see my rainbow babies too.

People may hate t-ara as people but there is no denying that they have some damn good songs tbh.

  11. CRAYON POP IS COOL AND FUNNY
Watch their dancing queen...most of them are cute....

  12. your loss http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eo82koP4sDk

  13. this rookie group with a shitacularly hilarious choreo for new song dancing queen check this one out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDmwfuZfmZs

  14. CCM usually has good songs, problem is I feel guilty supporting such a terrible company

    ReplyDelete
  15. if ifans could stop pretending f(x) are nobodies now...

    ReplyDelete
  16. but it did, you can't rewrite history. it happened, so people's impressions and feelings towards them changed, it is what it is. (for the record i was never a fan so the scandal just left me at status quo)

    ReplyDelete
  17. I don't think F(x) is as popular as IU, 2NE1 and SISTAR in korea.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hey, they debuted more than 3 years ago, if we're lucky SM might even give them a damn fan club name in 2013!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I don't think either but their fancafe still ranks fifth.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Isn't Crayon Pop a boy group? Or am I confusing them with someone else...??

    ReplyDelete
  21. Snsd, WG, sistar, 2ne1, F(x), missA, kara, BEG, AS, 4minuts and secret.
only these groups should exist !!
and the reason why kpop get weak and weak cuz all those new groups !

    ReplyDelete
  22. Male group rankings are kind of a clusterfuck, tbqh. Because all of the top male groups: Big Bang, Super Junior, DBSK/JYJ are all embroiled in some kind of major scandal.

    ReplyDelete
  23. F(x) isn't popular BUT Sulli, Krystal, and ,Victoria are popular (In that order) I hardly ever hear anyone talking about Luna and Amber.

I'm also glad HelloVenus and Crayon Pop are finally being recognized <3

    ReplyDelete
  24. I don't really understand the map... Is it supposed to show the different regions of Korea where the girl groups are popular or something?

Just make a fucking list! Or something like this: http://onekpop.com/i/which-girl-group-would-top-the-hierarchy-chart_-hutr_1.jpg

    IT'S EASIER TO UNDERSTAND, FFS.

    ReplyDelete
  25. lol I had to look REALLY hard to find where Crayon Pop was on the map.

    ReplyDelete
  26. damn, suzy has her own part
but I know I shouldn't take these things seriously when I see 'crayon pop' there ...

    ReplyDelete
  27. And Sistar is nowhere near as popular as IU or 2ne1.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Snsd stole their their concept. It's over for them

    ReplyDelete
  29. lol It's not a map of Korea. It's a fictional map created by netizens to depict each group's popularity (the bigger the "country", more popular the group).

    ReplyDelete
  30. i guess there are 17 relevant girl groups in S.Korea right now.

    superior: snsd,2ne1,sistar,fx,wg,kara,t-ara,

    medium: miss a,BEG,secret,4minute,apink,after school,

    relevant: rainbow,girls day,dal shabet,crayon pop.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I just realized why there are 2 kingdoms for each group (and 3 for SNSD)

The separate WG territory on the edge represent their American expansion.Kara's territory on the edge represent their Japanese expansion: notably bigger in popularity than their Korean popularity.
T-ara's territory on the edge also represent their Japanese expansion: drastically larger than the tiny part on the main land.
The two SNSD territories on the edges represent their Japanese and American expansions. (If the area connected to Kara is Japan, then maybe it's Asia in general? SNSD's popularity in Japan can't be that much greater than Kara's)

There might be more hidden meanings in the map, but I still can't get why Crayon Pop is there with a relatively large area.

    ReplyDelete
  32. i don't believe this map ! how even they can now the groups popularity?? i will feel kinda stupid if i believed that.....

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'm sure SNSD are nice girls but their music is so terrible that I just can't get into them

    ReplyDelete
  34. T-ara's not really..."superior"...anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yes, they are. In Korea, at least. It would be interesting to see the representations of their overseas expansion.

    ReplyDelete
  36. MAP CREATED BY A FAN
    AN OPINION FROM A FAN

    ReplyDelete
  37. Sistar is not that popular as a whole...only Hyolin
    the rest...f(x) > sistar

    ReplyDelete
  38. Needs moar 4minute.

    ReplyDelete
  39. LOL temove T-ara and then I agree, they are the most hated group in Korea now.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Try listening to their first Japanese album, I almost all songs on it are great.

    ReplyDelete
  41. T-ara n Snsd.. Just lovw this name. T-ara will hit big again.. And their Asias tour n Japan concert will show that...

    ReplyDelete
  42. The person who made this map must be a Crayon Pop fan...

    ReplyDelete
  43. that's a little sad since their japanese is just really awful. production of their japanese album is better than their korean albums by a landslide but everytime i hear them sing in japanese i want to laugh

    ReplyDelete
  44. you can hate them if you like but there is no denying Soshi really is the most popular girlgroup.

    ReplyDelete
  45. i've heard of eunji but what is apink?????????

    ReplyDelete
  46. I'd like to see a map of boy group popularity as well.

    ReplyDelete
  47. LOL, they obviously made this map while they were drunk since t-error is on it

    ReplyDelete
  48. crayon pop comment is a+ lmao

    ReplyDelete
  49. T-ara haters are silly they did really well with their sexy love comeback and I doubt most people even care about that Hwayoung rumor (Because it is a rumor),

    ReplyDelete
  50. T-ara haters are silly they did really well with their sexy love comeback and I doubt most people even care about that Hwayoung rumor (Because it is a rumor),

    ReplyDelete
  51. this looks made by a dumb fan! cant wait for their comeback to flop. they think they can just copy other ppl concept and do well?

    ReplyDelete
  52. Crayon Pop is a girl group from a small company.

They have a small cult following. I hope they become more popular - they had two of the best songs this year (Bing Bing and Dancing Queen). They didn't get as much TV exposure as other groups, so they did a lot of guerrilla street performances:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pbf2ELZy08I

    ReplyDelete
  53. Alone&Loving U, two of the biggest hits this year, >f(x) songs.
They have been everywhere in South Korea, earning tons of CF's and appearing in varieties shows.

If, maybe if, f(x) were promoted this aggressively they may be over Sistar by now but no, indeed Sistar > f(x).

    ReplyDelete
  54. In korean

    BIGBANG >>> JYJ >>>>>>> SJ >>2VXQ

    ReplyDelete
  55. I'm in for the best music to be honest

    ReplyDelete
  56. Wonder Girls <3 Gone but never forgotten.

    ReplyDelete
  57. An awesome rookie girl group. Unfortunately not as popular as they should be:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbyHypI81_M

    ReplyDelete
  58. Ah, at least Girl's Day and Rainbow are there :")

    ReplyDelete
  59. Rainbow is barely relevant. If they were, they wouldn't have members themselves complaining about how irrelevant they are.

    ReplyDelete
  60. 9. [+66, -10] What the heck is up with Crayon Pop? Did a Crayon Pop fan make this? Trying to slyly sneak it in? I've heard of Hello Venus and SPICA, but what is Crayon Pop?

I'm just glad a netizen mentioned SPICA..

    ReplyDelete
  61. all i want to say...
Sistar is like Hyolin and the back up dancers
    just like Hyuna and friends
Sistar as a whole is not popular..only Hyolin
    I'm talking about f(x) > sistar as a group

    ReplyDelete
  62. F(x) is actually quite popular in China.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Snsd is so popular...but honestly, with the type of music they're shelling out, I can't take them seriously at all.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Didn't know Sistar was that big. I mean really?

    ReplyDelete
  65. well they have Chinese Victoria and Amber -__-

    ReplyDelete
  66. f(x) is popular in korea. Get over it. End of the story lol.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I wanna know about boy groups...huhu

    ReplyDelete
  68. Amber is Taiwanese and she didn't even speak Chinese until she became a trainee at SM. She was born and raised in California.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Sistar as a group IS more popular than f(x). Individually though we can argue since Hyorin is the only one high up there in popularity.

Leespiar poll, 3rd female celebrity of the year and all the year-end charts ranking Alone&Loving U is in the top 5. Their songs>>F(x) songs. Also gotta wait for Gallup poll to see where they rank too and I bet you they will be there over f(x).

I know this is hard to accept that Sistar has become one of the top tier groups but yes it's true. They blew up this year, 2012 is totally their year. Everywhere in South Korea and having 2 mega hits this year.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Am I just missing A Pink or what. Their fancafe numbers seem pretty high.

    ReplyDelete
  71. miss a is bigger than Suzy? hmm..

    ReplyDelete
  72. Why do they still bash T-Ara? The rumors weren't true!!

    ReplyDelete
  73. crayon pop? wth are they doing there

    ReplyDelete
  74. Their last EP sold around 80.000 both in Korea and Japan.
Their album and repackage sold around 135.000? Not to mention they are liked by general public and doing good digitally.

Other 2 you mentioned is questionable but f(x) is more popular than Sistar. Public buys Sistar songs buy they have really low physical sales due to number of fans they have.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I'm happy f(x) is there but Crayon Pop.. really? Aren't they rookie

    ReplyDelete
  76. Nice job Sistar. Wish Secret was more popular. 2. [+384, -93] Girl group otakus shouldn't be fighting with each other. Unite under your mutual love for girl groups.

    ReplyDelete
  77. lol suju?

    ReplyDelete
  78. lol suzy and her own territory. should have give one exclusively for eunji.

    ReplyDelete
  79. lol so true. should have give one exclusively for eunji like suzy. xD

    ReplyDelete
  80. agreed. i wish they were relevant enough to be on here, but I know they aren't TT__TT

    ReplyDelete
  81. GIRL GROUPS<33333

    ReplyDelete
  82. 2. [+384, -93] Girl group otakus shouldn't be fighting with each other. Unite under your mutual love for girl groups.

  83. HOLY shiT SNSD IS AHEAD BY ABIG MARGIN ,,TOTALLY DOMINATING THE OTHERS

    ReplyDelete
  84. better than snslut

    ReplyDelete
  85. for haters saying T-ara shouldn't be there: T-ara are still on top whether you like it or not !
