Article: [2012 Music Industry Wrap-up] Bullying + Marriage + Sex 'idol scandals on another level'
Source: TV Daily via Nate
Article recapping T-ara, IU, Sunye, and Seungri's scandals this year.
1. [+1,813, -53] Leave Sunye's marriage out of this... It doesn't even belong here.
2. [+1,292, -57] How dare this reporter call something that deserves blessings a 'scandal'?
3. [+1,033, -321] When Jiyeon's scandal erupted, everyone latched onto her like a pack of hyenas, but suddenly grew quiet when Seungri's scandal came out... There's a huge difference between the two scandals and yet Seungri's went by really quietly. They're both crazy but people are shielding Seungri too much...
4. [+130, -18] There's no answer to these Big Bang kids. Okay, I can let Daesung's car accident pass, but what about Seungri acting like getting his picture taken after having sex is no big deal or promoting after smoking marijuana is okay without reflection? Aside from Taeyang, the group is a mess. But of course, stupid fangirls will shield our oppas~

So, having sex is worse than a car accident? We are all sinners.
ReplyDeleteOne night stands are not viewed in a good light in most Asian culture. Get over it. If you want to be interested in Kpop and anything Asian, learn the culture.
DeleteIMO, the west is desensitized because romantic comedies portray them as fun and sweet way too much.
And it's just his luck that his photo was leaked. Maybe (probably) other male Kpop acts are guilty of one night stands too, but fortunately for them no photos r being leaked.... Who knows.
Delete1. [+1,813, -53] Leave Sunye's marriage out of this... It doesn't even belong here.
ReplyDelete2. [+1,292, -57] How dare this reporter call something that deserves blessings a 'scandal'?
TRUE!!!!
ReplyDelete^THIS.Been waiting for a comment like this to pop out. Both were obviously wrong but double standards in Korea are hella scary.
Maybe cuz the pic of Seungri wasn't that suggestive like IU and EH?
DeleteSo netizens couldn't fire much against Seungri rumor reported by foriegn Tabloid? While IU was very much her own fault at releasing the scandalous pic herself.
Iam more than sure the buzz for Seungri would be spicy if only he had a pic shot with a girl in rumor.
what other scandalous~ things happened this year?
ReplyDeleteI agree with comments 1 and 2...sunye's wedding announcement shouldn't be considered a scandal...it's was great news that does deserve a blessing
ReplyDeleteI can't get why Sunye's marriage is on there omg crazy
ReplyDeleteHow was Sunye a scandal lmao? It was more like a blessing.
ReplyDeleteNichkhun's DUI
ReplyDeletethat's right! why not include that instead of dragging sunye?
ReplyDeleteSunye marriage in this list? I don't even..
ReplyDeleteNeways, female idols had it harder than male idols even though the level of scandal is the same
I don't think Daesung should put in the same sentence as Seungri and GD imo. Daesung's car accident was truly an accident (he was not drunk), and he looked really remorseful and reflected for a while. Seungri and GD did what they did on their own. It was pretty ridiculous seeing GD and Daesung together on Healing Camp, when Dae looked really sad and was still affected by the accident, while GD was just lying.
ReplyDeleteDae is the sweetest (:
DeleteThis years biggest scandal was T-error, and IU and nations little carnivore, and Seungri the strangling sexaddict. :D
ReplyDeletewelp. expected replies. lol.
ReplyDeletebut yeah sucks for em reporters sunye's marriage is a blessing :)
emm.. bigbang.. well im a fan, they literally went trough all possible worst scandals an idol could ever have lol, but turn out this year is kinda the biggest year of their whole careers. its even surprised me as a fan. the tour blow out real big. so yeah, im just gonna be a happy BBasun (lol, how netizen call out bigbang "groupies" fans).
expected comments..netizenbuzz can't wait for the post with the melon awards
ReplyDeletemade kpop more interesting
ReplyDeletelol, a lot of sarcasm on beast artist of the year. well, i mean its real joke they won. at least give it to sistar.
ReplyDeletewhat if you're a virgin who can't drive
ReplyDeletehttp://media-cache-ec6.pinterest.com/upload/32791903507998857_iDjcqDVb_c.jpg
Daesung's accident is an accident not a scandal
ReplyDeleteNickhun's accident is a scandal
the difference?
Daesung is not under influence
but these two already reflected
wasn't daesung speeding? you don't have to be drunk to be reckless
ReplyDeletethat is why i want to see it too :D
ReplyDeleteI don't think Seungri's scandal was wrong. It was just that the woman he was involved with had the nerve to take a picture of him while he was sleeping and then reveal a bunch of intimate details about something that was never the public business. Seungri obviously did not ask that girl to go to the tabloids about his personal life so that's probably why people weren't very harsh on him.
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't think Jiyeon's scandal was necessarily wrong either, I just found it super creepy o_0.
he was but not much..the taxi driver even declared that he wasn't ..well Daesung's accident is complicated and tragic and even with reflection time knetizens still bring it up
ReplyDelete'Seungri's went by really quietly.'
ReplyDeletequiet?? as long as i know any Bigbang's scandals always the hottest among netizen and they will always bring it wherever and whenever..
'But of course, stupid fangirls will shield our oppas~'
mehh.. even if thousands of fangirls shield their oppa, y'all will still find way to hate, so why bother blaming the fangirls? no difference, they shielding you hating.
Oh yeah! THIS!!
DeleteMaybe because the reporter forgot it since T-ARA scandal covered it up for Nichkhun basically
ReplyDeleteThis Nichkhun's scandal was super quiet thanks to them even though it was much more dangerous and reckless if he wasn't famous and paid off the family he would have been deported.
Deletethey forgot to mention block b big mouths
ReplyDeleteWhat is TOP's scandal tho?
ReplyDeletespeed limits are set for a reason. the faster you drive, the less time you have to react. daesung choosing to speed means he made a choice to be less than safe. being sorry afterward doesn't erase that. :\
ReplyDeleteYeah if only a drunk driving guy didn't end up on the riad like that at the first place, He could have lived a longer life. It's both if them fault though.
Deleteim not going to defend him, cuz someone died. yes it became so wrong of him.
ReplyDeletebut you know, normally (not in his accident content), 80k/hr on highway in the mid of the night. who didn't do that tbh?
it's good that someone remember that :)
ReplyDeletetrue..can't argue with that...:(
ReplyDeleteOh yes, clearly an old, random interview that the media ran with is far more serious than bullying, sex, and DUI scandals,
ReplyDeleteMy top:
ReplyDelete1.T-error
2. SeungRi chocking chicks
3. Block B-ig Mouths
4. Nichkhun car
5. Sick IU and doctor anchovy
6. Amy propofol
7. PSYonna XD
And they're all kpop idols. Oh the irony.
ReplyDeleteYea I know right. BB/T-ara should define for us what 'idols' truly mean. Somebody whom we want to emulate right..... Right
DeleteCAN'T WAIT WHAT THEY GOT TO SAY ABOUT BEAST WINNING ARTIST OF THE YEAR LOL
ReplyDeleteThe car accident was unintentional and a tragedy. Daesung suffered for it and he will probably carry that burden on his soul until he grows old and dies.
ReplyDeleteSeungri, on the other hand... Although I love him very much, his scandal brought up a lot of ugly things. First of all... the having sex with groupie thing is supposed to remain a secret. The only reason why this got out was because he hurt the girl's feelings by refusing to kiss her (which kinda makes a girl feel like a cheap whore, tbh). And the fact that Seungri likes a little light S&M during sex doesn't help at all either.
I can't really fault him for giving her a towel to wipe up the ejaculation because if you just leave it there it gets gross... especially if you're going to sleep right afterwards.
I mean, I know Korea is a patriarchal society and they give men 30x more slack than they do women... But that doesn't mean that they want their male chauvinism displayed all over the tabloids of a country they hate.
I miss Brittany Murphy. T__T RIP.
ReplyDeleteYeah. Block B's is waaaaaaaay more worse than theirs right ._.
ReplyDeleteHe was? I didn't know that.. oop.
ReplyDeleteThe oddest difference, I'd say, would be that some chick took a picture of Seungri while he was sleeping and then she went and told a tabloid magazine that he did some stuff to her which is crazy in and of itself.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, Jiyeon's scandal was a giant question mark to me o.O
"The only reason why this got out was because he hurt the girl's feelings by refusing to kiss her " -> how do you know if that's the reason?
ReplyDeleteShe could have done this simply for money: sleeps with a naive celebrity, takes a photo of it and sells a story to a tabloid (and she could make up things to make the story more spicy).
We'll never know, really.
Favorite movie ever. Miss her. R.I.P.
ReplyDeleteYes, it was a tragedy and yes, Daesung was minimally speeding, but it's ok to defend him because there was no legal way to determine the motorcyclists cause of death. That's why Daesung wasn't charged with a crime. It was possible that the motorcyclist was already dead when he was struck by Daesung's car. Daesung did the right thing however by settling with the family out side of court and accepting responsibility for funeral expenses. From what I understand, that is customary in Korea.
ReplyDeleteYes, that is true. But, in this case, there was no way to determine whether Daesung's speeding was a factor in the death. That is why he was not charged with a crime.
ReplyDeleteBlock B shamed Korea, and tainted the Hallyu wave a bit.
ReplyDeletebecoz he reflected on his action
ReplyDeleteSeungri's scandal was very quiet compared to GD's drug scandal and Daesung's car accident. People have speculated that it might be because the incident took place in Japan and as such, that the Korean media had less sources to turn it into a fiasco with. However it's generally accepted that YG keeping quiet on the issue helped (since statements released by companies often only fuel the fire) and also, that YG paid some of the media outlets not to run away with the story like they obviously did and still are with IU's twitpic.
ReplyDeleteIf any other group had come out with a scandal like Seungri's at the top of their game like Big Bang is, the story would have easily surpassed the 'popularity' of T-ara's scandal. But it didn't and that's just plain bizarre. People have a right to compare his scandal with others and mention the obvious bias. It's just logic.
kept kpop interesting. this year would've been so bland w/o all the scandals, tbh.
ReplyDeleteHaha, you just keep telling yourself that.
ReplyDeletesenguri i just came from your london concert and it was the best. u proved me wrong. ur also great and ur personality and stage presence was fab
ReplyDeletemehh the Seungri one wasn't scandal, if you were to believe everything that japanese tabloid says lol
ReplyDeleteeven without the fuel from media outlet we can tell that netizens care so much about that scandal. well if you read netizen buzz long enough seungri related comments always get the most votes even in the most random article. maybe it was not as hot as GD's but still. he's a bigbang=he deserves more hate=knetizen's logic.
ReplyDelete5. [+112, -18] G-Druggin
ReplyDeletesick and tire DoF YOUR BAD PUNS, NETIZEnS
like i said so many times before
ReplyDeletethat girl can go soooo far telling more bullshit about what seungs' did to her, nothing can prove what she's telling really happen
yg wont confirm or deny it, how can they gave some clarification like seungri did have sex, but didnt do any of choking etc.....
because he having sex is already a big deal in korea
its not the best thing to do when you are a rookie, perform in different country and gave inappropriate manners....
ReplyDeletethey got lucky netizens notice them and at least acknowledge them
ReplyDeleteBeing a Queen's, I, too my extent agree that Jiyeon was wrong about that web cam scandal and attacking Hwayoung on Twitter by whole t-ara(not bullying itself, it was brought up later) was wrong too but what you can see from Seungri and Jiyeon's scandal is that way our society trearts a girl and a man... Just like t-ara,BB was also active and they had thier Alive tour but seungri wasnt much hated and his scandal was brough up as frequently as Jiyeon's while seungri was the one to have recent scandal.. I dont hate this guy or anthing. He is really a good entertainer and i just love him on variety shows but what i mentioned just now is a reality about how easy society is on man but that wont be the case for woman... The GRAVITY of both scandal were same because they were both related to sec but the amount of hate Jiyeon got/is getting is much more higher than Seungri's while the case is between past scandal and present scandal...
Bottom line: Past Sex scandal of a idol/celeb/girl>>>> Present Sex scandal of
It's mostly cuz he's a guy too. But also I think k-netizens are getting used to this whole idol scandal thing lol. I mean if this had happened 4 years ago... things would have been much worse.
ReplyDeleteYeah by 10 km. Apparently Koreans speed by 10 km usually so he was probably trying to not be a turtle on the road which is also dangerous.
ReplyDeletebless
ReplyDeleteBlock B shamed Korea? If anyone shamed Korea, it was the netizens that signed death petitions.
ReplyDeleteIve seen jiyeon's papayas....not seen any seungri banana....that s make huge diff to me.
ReplyDeletebut you know how different the two accidents ended up, right? =/
ReplyDeletewhat do you want him to do? stop singing? he's a singer not an idol to please.
ReplyDeleteseungri's sex scandal Vs Jiyeon's strip scandal
ReplyDeletewhat is the difference?
seungri didn't spread his private life.. he didn't record it that so called sex scandal
Jiyeon fvcking strip infront of the camera and forgot to clean her files before debut.
another difference
seungri didn't cover it with any alibi and his ceo just said it's not a scandal.
jiyeon and her company covered it and spread another lie
who will receive more hate?
sometimes fangirls are too blinded...so close minded... they can't understand.
knetizens shamed korea... they fvcking signed death petitions.. what are they? God? wtf... acting innocent when they are not.
ReplyDeleteAt least he wasn't speeding AND drunk... unlike Nichkhun, who could actually SEE the man he hit with his car.
ReplyDeleteWell, they DID make fun of Thailand's flood where a lot of people died and lost everything they own on top of that.
ReplyDeleteIt's one thing to make rude comments online and a completely different thing to go on public television and laugh and joke about a tragedy that claimed the lives of so many people.
How would you feel if Block B did something similar in light of what happened to that elementary school in Connecticut?
They LAUGHED when they were asked about the flooding. And then that fucking idiot Zico said, "With this monetary aid, we hope that you will feel better. The only thing we have is money." and proceeded to offer SIX FUCKING DOLLARS.
Like the lives of the people who died and the homes that were destroyed could be fixed with a fucking SIX DOLLARS.
Actually, you are quite misinformed. They did NOT make fun of the floods in Thailand. It was a horribly mistranslated video and netizens proceeded to attack them without understanding what actually happened.
ReplyDeleteThey did not laugh when they were asked about the flooding. When asked about it, Zico said they could only offer monetary aid at the moment because that was all they could do. Kyung then asked 'How much do you have on you?' and Zico responded '...$7' and the rest of Block B began to laugh at him because he was poor. The question wasn't 'How much will you donate?' The question was 'How much do you have on you?'
Furthermore, Block B donated money to Thailand before the interview, and long before the interview. Each member individually donated an amount that is equivalent to around $200. They also donated all of their earnings from their Thailand showcase to charity causes in relation to the flood. During the Thailand showcase, Block B, with the help of Thai BBCs, donated and distributed books to Thai schools to help in the recovering of the country from damage caused by the flood. Zico never said he would only give $7 to Thailand, he never said Thailand should be grateful for that money, and he never joked about the flood.
Honestly, if you are going to attack Block B, it'd be better to do some research first.
Funny how it seems like K-Netizens seem to always bash on Big Bang, yet they do so well on music charts =P

ReplyDeleteMy weblog :: sex cams
I dont get what they want Seungri to reflect about. For having sex? For sleeping after having sex? LOL. There is no scandal. Having sex is normal. Having a woman take your picture while you are sleeping is creepy. It should be the woman getting blamed not Seungri. Unless people in korea exclusively have sex during marriage.
