Article: [Exclusive] KARA Kang Ji Young admitted with rolling admissions to Sungkyunkwan University

1. [+848, -95] Idols are always coming out on variety shows and crying about how hard tit is for them and how they'll never lose their roots... and yet they turn around and do trashy things like this tsk tsk. To all of the Korean test takers, please don't feel down after reading news like this and continue to fighting!!

2. [+801, -71] The problem here is that she's stealing someone else's spot just to put a college name on her profile when she's not even going to attend. She'll attend, what, at most 10 times in four years?

3. [+588, -39] An actor that has 11 years of experience is applying to the same major for the third year in a row while Jiyoung and Krystal, both of whom aren't even actresses, get in at once just with rolling admissions?

  1. I'm pretty sure an actor with 11 yrs of experience will still get in. I don't think they're taking the spots of ppl who do deserve to get in. And I mean, if you have the experience to get in and the credentials.. The university admits more ppl than just these two singers. They exaggerate too much

  2. ^^ I think your bias is showing. Regardless, they are taking two available spots from someone more deserving by paying to get in.

  3. Can you please explain what is rolling admission? Is that make idols not to taking tests/ audition but still get accepted? Does it apply for only idols or also actors/actresses? Thanks

  4. i think it means that they're accepted based on their status like popularity rather than their ability

  5. It seems because they are famous they get extra points? They just need to be famous, the university use the idols/actors to promote it....

  9. What? No.. most netizens actually praise idols who forgo college to pursue their careers, major examples being IU, BoA, and Yoo Seung Ho. South Korean people are REALLY into college, and the college entrance exams. It makes sense that many would be disconcerted that studious, hardworking students are rejected to prestigious colleges while seemingly undetermined and disrespectful idols are easily accepted.

  10. the best "sungkyunkwan scandal" was by far the one involving Song JoongKi <3 ^^
I think it's wrong of them to accept BOTH Krystal and Jiyoung at the same time...
ps: this is a very unflattering picture of Jiyoung o.O how is that even possible?

  11. They basically weigh their experience performing on stage, being on TV etc more importantly than school grades. They don't have to go through the formal application process like the rest of the students, hence 'rolling'.
