Did YG dominate the industry this year?

Article: 'From Big Bang to Lee Hi'... YG dominates industry all year long

Source:
OSEN via Nate

1. [+474, -54] If only Seungri didn't put a damper on things, then YG would've really had a festive year. Too bad for that sucker.

2. [+350, -92] They did have a lot of comebacks/debuts but Big Bang, Epik High, and 2NE1 didn't live up to expectations... Out of the many they had out, only a few did well.

3. [+195, -58] Oh look it's OSEN

4. [+53, -36] This is what's wrong with OSEN's media play. This year, artists like Busker Busker, Ailee, and SISTAR did way better than most YG artists excluding Psy, but of course OSEN makes it seem as if YG took it all home. You can tell just from the title that it's OSEN's media play for YG.

5. [+44, -17] Aside from Psy and Lee Hi, the rest didn't do so well. As for Epik High, they may not have hit daebak but I'm sure their fans are all grateful to just have them back.

  2. Gotta love clueless comments.. Big Bang didn't live up to expectations? What a joke. Three songs in the yearly top 15, more albums sold than ever (410k and rising) and managed to sell their whole Alive album.

2NE1 also sold as good as ever digitally with minimal promotions.

    CCM-->Newsen

    JYP?

  4. the rest of kpop put out better songs that YG this year, tbqh.

  5. Idk what they're talking about but aside from Seugri's scandal...BIGBANG did extremely well both digital & physical albums...just cause they had scandals suddenly these people are denying their achievements? LOL. 2NE1's I LOVE YOU comeback may have been short but right now it's #6 in most downloaded/listened Song Of The Year. Compared to SM even more JYP...Damn right YG did well~ no point in questioning that.

  7. I would say Big Bang, PSY and Lee Hi, did the best. The rest are forgettable tbh. 2NE1 sure, they had digital sales and were on top for what, two weeks. Wow. Still the song, and them as a group were extremely forgettable this year. No fire at all. Epik High didn't even return as Epik High so that was extremely forgettable and Se7en... I didn't even know he made a comeback. All in all, it's safe to say 3/6 did well. The rest are whatever.

    1. The article taliking about YG songs doing quite great this year, whats the point to raise other artists?

Sure few other names are doing great too. But the point is to hightight how YG doing good this year.

Stay pressed haters. Check out how many songs in Goan Top 100 this year and you will know.

      Delete
  9. Well it is your opinion, but the Korean public clearly thinks otherwise. All of YG's releases did very well this year. Some very well (Gangnam Style, Fantastic Baby, Blue, Monster, I Love You) while some a little less (Bad Boy, Se7en, EH's It's Cold). The only releases that kinda flopped are Epik High's title tracks.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Actually 2NE1 was not as strong this year, the presence nor the song could compare to last year at all. And as far as Big Bang goes, they may have lived up to fans expectations but don't put those as regular citizens expectations. It's no secret fans bulked up on the Alive album especially considering YG put out 6 versions. I know of plenty fans who bought all six, and no matter how you put it, that's buying in bulk. Big Bang did do well this year, but put it in perspective as to why they did well.

    ReplyDelete
  11. LOL BIGBANG is the highest earning artist this year with 78 billion won while PSY is No.2 with 33 billion. BIGBANG and 2NE1 songs has many songs in Top 10 songs of the year now, these stupid netizens need to shut up.

    ReplyDelete
  12. 6 ver?? and they say this and that about elf buying in bulk. lol

    ReplyDelete
  13. I lol'd.
    I feel bad ):

    ReplyDelete
  14. Correction: 5 members of BIGBANG = 5 versions, not 6

    ReplyDelete
  15. This article doesn't say YG songs are the best or better than others, yes Sistar Ailee they did well, but it is about YG,all the songs that released from YG in this year was success.Blue hit the melon roof the most in 2012,fantastic baby was in top for 2 months, physically alive sold more than 400k,maybe it will sound so biassed but "I love you" was one of the best songs this year, that's my opinion, its amazing success on charts is netizen's opnion lol.Psy...what can I say ? maybe Epik High 99 albums songs didn't do well but the first song "It's cold" was in top for weeks.Lee Hi no need to explain it.So you say that Osen is talking biassed,YG didn't do well,OKAY

    ReplyDelete
  16. No it is six. One for each of the 5 members of Big Bang then there is the Big Bang version.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Digital sales marks the "public" mostly though, and not just the title songs did well but EVERY song. They can go head to head with Busker Busker in terms of "doing well" this year.

Sure 2NE1 wasn't as strong...but compared to last year they only have one song this year and despite having 1 song they still did well. I Love You, forgettable or not is still in the TOP 10 if not 20 songs of the year

    ReplyDelete
  18. JYP doesn't need any media play, they play the game fair. ;)

    ReplyDelete

    1. Or they're too poor to afford it lol.

      Delete
  19. I agree. Big Bang's huge sales in albums, concerts, and digitals was expected because of their large fandom (especially releasing an album after a long hiatus), but looking @ the Korean public holistically and the type of impact they made, they didn't do that much damage (in a good way).

    ReplyDelete
  20. lol so all the articles about nichkhun "reflecting" was written by sympathetic reporters?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Alive songs sold more than 12 million, still alive songs sold more than 6 million and songs of Gd's album sold more than 6 million. Fantastic Baby outsold Ailee's Heaven. Only artist can surpass big bang's number is busker busker not ailee or sistar.

    ReplyDelete
  22. They released 6 versions doesn't mean fans bought many versions.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Being ViP, you seriously need to be rich. Haha.

Look at all the merchandise they are selling this year. No joke.

Many could only buy 1 version as they need to spare for other stuffs as well : world tour concerts, official stuffs, and all. Their baseball jacket cost 250$
No surprise fans are so broke.

  23. "This year, artists like Busker Busker, Ailee, and SISTAR did way better than most YG artists excluding Psy"

wait a second, weren't netizens calling SISTAR out for chart manipulation earlier ?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Whats your terms of well? Getting on the charts? They are Big Bang, they are going to make it on the charts no matter if the song is shit or not, they have the fame and the fanbase. And no, Busker Busker knocks out everyone this year.

2NE1 was forgettable, and their song shows that regardless if they are in the top 10 or no because this year was the Nugu year, there were more small names than big names especially for girl groups. Of course 2NE1 is going to chart, they are one of the most famous girl groups. Either way, after two weeks, the song was forgettable.

    ReplyDelete
  25. As I know, many YG haters on this Netizenbuzz site ;D

  26. I think, it was a good year for YGE in that YG had a lot of comebacks from their respective groups, however, I don't know about dominating the industry. Tbh, how well YG did in terms of sales is a given isn't it? Seeing as they are one of the big three companies, Bigbang and 2ne1 have huge fandoms of course their albums are going to do extremely well on the charts. Where Big Bang succeeded this year, 2ne1's comeback was a flop let's be real. And YG was very smart to debut Lee Hayi when he did because she's unexpectedly doing amazing, not to mention the overnight blast to worldwide fame for PSY.

But did YG put out good music this year? I think that remains to be seen and depends on personal preference. I'm a fan of Bigbang so of course I like their songs, but I'm not delusional as to believe they had the best songs this year. Better songs and better albums were released by groups and solo artists that are not from YGE or even from the other big companies. In my opinion, the best thing that YG did this year are PSY and Lee Hayi.

    ReplyDelete
  27. But physically sales come from VIP's buying in bulk.

    ReplyDelete
  28. The true popularity of the songs is how it does on the digital charts. And this year, YG artists take many positions of the Top 10 songs of the year. They also have two highest earned artists of the year ( #1 BIGBANG 78 billion won, #2 PSY 33 billion won).

    ReplyDelete
  29. YG's songs were not amazing this year, they weren't even the best and maybe the netizens are speaking of quality because this is true, YG did not put out the best songs of the year with the exception of PSY and Lee Hi, but as far as charts go, of course they did well, Big Bang is one of the biggest boy groups and 2NE1 is one of the biggest girl groups, people need to realize they will chart regardless because they have the fans to do so. Charting doesn't always equate to good music unless, especially if you are popular.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Overall Digital Charts points pretty much says "who did well", as it covers variety of public not just the "fanbase" that you keep pointing out

BIGBANG & Busker Busker goes head to head in All Kills/Perfect All Kills this year but BIGBANG had more "roof hits" on Melon compared to Busker Busker. Blue hit the roof 20x, I Love You hit the roof 10x while Busker Busker only hit the roof 5x. "hitting the roof" on melon is getting the highest point for that particular hour and YG artists did well hitting it.

That's the thing tho, you forgot...but that doesn't mean it didn't chart well lol.

    ReplyDelete
  31. They're not talking about physical albums. Alive album is one of the best selling albums digitally this year. Alive songs sold more than 12 million.

    ReplyDelete
  32. IMO Blue, Bad Boy, Monster, I love you, That XX, Missing You, It's cold are fantastic.

    ReplyDelete
  33. But the fanbase is the reason Big Bang sold 400k as you keep pointing out, Blue and Fantastic baby are the highest sellers digital, the rest didn't do as well.

But that's the thing, who was 2NE1 against to not chart well? YG markets them well so they don't go against any major competition, I bet he wasn't expecting PSY to steal their thunder like that.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. So you give out OTHER COMPANY then? The one that do amazingly digital this year? Any?

YG is sure one on the lead compared to other big 3 , face it loser.

      Delete
  34. Sure it does, but it still doesn't mean that "BIGBANG did not do well"

    ReplyDelete
  35. Dear people, the Korean public don't give a damn on your music show or online download rankings. Get over it.

But nothing will ever beat how shitty SM songs are this year. T____T Only EXO's album did a great job (quality-wise), IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  36. But you're a YG stan.

    ReplyDelete
  37. They are talking about physical unless Big Bang only sold 410k this year.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I'm YG's fan so I have no right to say that love their music? How about you -whatever-company- stan stop butthurt about YG?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Actually the online download/played songs covers the korean public very well. What doesn't matter are the music show wins lol

    ReplyDelete
  40. 3. [+195, -58] Oh look it's OSEN

^ HEY, NETZ. ARE YOU ME

    ReplyDelete
  41. Wow, you're a jackass.
Because you're a YG stan you're going to enjoy YG's music, I though that comment would've been obvious, but then again, you're a YG stan.

And I don't stan a company, but nice try. And I didn't say anything about YG, but that's cute. Are your feathers ruffled now little baby? It's funny how YG stans are the quickest to get upset over the simplest things.

Tip to the child: Not everyone who has a different opinion is butthurt.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I missed the part where Big Bang didn't live up to expectations and didn't do that well...Didn't they have like one of the most successful comebacks this year, or am I missing something? (Not being sarcastic, I'm asking for real).

    ReplyDelete
  43. "the rest didn't do as well" -> please, do you ever look at the total number sales of the songs? Almost of BIGBANG's songs have very good sales. And 2NE1's I love You is in Top.10 songs of the year.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Honestly I don't really care about physical sales...what I kept pointing out is their DIGITAL SALES which covers the Korean public well.

2NE1 was up against T-ARA&SISTAR, the 3 groups all known for doing "well" digitally. Super Junior also came out at the same time, but Suju sucks at digital sales so no one cares really.

    ReplyDelete
  45. they still taking about seungri's scandal? gosh it will never end.

I agree I don't think YG brought out the best songs this year, but i disagree that they didn't dominate the year. Everyone in YG had a number one song. They occupied 5 spots out of goan top 10. They have the top two earners of the 2012 on their roster.

But then again with comments like lee hi did better than bigbang, I honestly have no words for netizens lol.

    ReplyDelete
  46. what are you talking about, do even know how many downloads they got this year? over 20 million son

    ReplyDelete
  47. You forgot to take PSY in account, as well as 2NE1's successful solo concert.

Not to mention BIGBANG's ALIVE tour that has had MANY sold out venues; too many to count. And Lee Hi, Korea's Rookie (Digital) Monster.

When it comes to the music scene, YG artists slayed it digitally which accounts to the general public and fans (digital sales).

    ReplyDelete
  48. I agree. I myself don't like Big Bang, but you can't deny they did greatly this year. Who cares if it were the fans who bought everything (which I don't think is true), they did well digitally and physically sells. BUUUUUUUUUUUT, Aside from psy, bigbang and lee hi, the other artist can't count as 'BEST SELLING' or outstanding. 2ne1 had a great comeback but it was a little weak, etc, etc

    ReplyDelete
  49. Did you even listen to BoA's mini album or TVXQ's album? Title songs are debatable, but the albums (for SM) were well produced. Not to mention TTS's Twinkle, that was a solid album.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Why are YG stans acting like someone told them Santa clause wasn't real and they have to pull out the pictures they stashed to prove it? Seriously, you ever stop to think that this is the personal opinion not based on facts. Maybe they enjoyed Sistar and Busker Buskers songs more than YG artists therefore they think they did better this year as far as musicality goes. You are all getting riled up throwing out numbers like it's going to change anything. Big Bang didn't live up to the expectations of some people, get over, not everyone is going to be up their ass thinking everything they do is perfect. I really though YG was supposed to be this fandom full of chic people who don't care, but all I eve see YG stans do is care about every little thing and throw out the "hater" word when somebody doesn't like YG, get a fucking grip. Its known Big Bang did well on the charts, but that doesn't mean everybody though their comeback was amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  51. are we talking about sales or quality?
If quality - then that's personal preference so it can go either way
If sales - I would say YG, as a whole, dominated 2012
Doesn't matter if you want to try and bitch about "bulk buying"...in the end, their songs charted relatively high, along with their sales. As for 2NE1, they could've done better (sale/chart wise) but then again they didn't do much promoting since YG thought it'd be a brilliant idea ro have a world tour in the middle of a comeback.
But considering the revenue brought in from BB&2NE1's tour, they did pretty well on their own.

As for Hayi, she did extremely well for a rookie with just a single.

    ReplyDelete
  52. You forgot to mention that 2NE1 can't sell out a full stadium in Korea, they only can sell out the annex. But how would you know when YG makes it seem like 2NE1 is selling out venues everywhere.

    ReplyDelete
  53. YG Stans are giving numbers because its a FACT that they DID WELL which is basically what the article is about, it doesn't matter if you don't like their stuff, after all it's personal preference...but YOU or other netizens not liking their stuff does not equal to them "not doing well".

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. This.

Butthurt haters can't stand facts, so pity of them living in fantasy world. Hahaha

      Delete
  54. People are obviously measuring 'success' with different criteria- which is all fine. However it's not incorrect to say that YG dominated this year. Commercially, YG is the most successful of the Big 3 for 2012. Se7en did relatively well (esp relative to his previous release), Big Bang are reportedly bringing in millions, 2NE1 (who only had one song) still charted within the Top 10 for digital charts of the year, and Psy... Well he outdid everyone (yg and non-yg) this year. Tally up all the days that a yg artist was at #1 on the charts, and you'll find that no other label can match that. You can argue about song quality, expectations, hype, and a bunch of other stuff, but you have to admit that even if it's just commercially, YG dominated this year.

    ReplyDelete
  55. do you mean 95% of Koreans have internet access and may have different opinions and write different things hence the top rated comments won't be always the same?

    NO FUCKING WAY!!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. YG stans are being cry babies. Personal preference can determine whether you think they did well this year based on your opinion, but are you so riled up on the charts and FACTS that you can't see that. No one said they didn't do well on the charts did they or am I missing some silver lining that only YG stans see that allows them to shove their head so far up their ass they have to get angry over it? I don't see anyone saying they flopped digitally, or flopped physical sales wise. But YG stans are taking it up the ass like they did.

And is it a natural trait for you guys to put words into other people mouths or what because I don't recall saying they didn't do well, in fact I said its know Big Bang did well, or is your head too far up your ass to see that as well?

If a netizen doesn't like Big Bangs album, they are going to think they didn't do well this year, not on the charts because none of them said chart wise, just preference wise.

But hey, keep throwing your facts everywhere and whining like a baby, it suits your fandom.

    ReplyDelete
  57. And with the rise, comes the fall.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Are you blind? Lol

    "only a few did well."
"the rest didn't do so well."

If giving out facts to counteract what "they think" vs what "actually happened" makes YG Stans crybabies then so be it lol

    ReplyDelete
  59. no matter what yg did, netz will just forever hate him..same for other companies...
    why haters ? LOL

    ReplyDelete
  60. Butthur netizens much? But really YG give SE7EN more attention NAO!! At least promote him properly!!

    ReplyDelete
  61. So where exactly does it say anything about the charts or sales...? Oh wait it doesn't.

Since logic can't reach you, it's safe to say you'll never understand since you can't comprehend that just because you throw numbers everywhere, that doesn't change an opinion on whether or not they did well to that person or lived up to that person expectations. But I guess it's too much for your brain capacity, continue your efforts to change a personal opinion.

  66. Because "doing well" can be proved by digital sales charts where 90% of Korea buys/downloads their songs???

You're the one who doesn't get it lol you keep going off by "opinion of doing well", compared to me who was going off what ACTUALLY is doing well.

  67. Some K-Netizens are born to hate, know all thing they did with Tablo and his family?

    ReplyDelete
  70. Doing well on the charts. Wow you really don't get it do you. You keep talking about charts this, and charts that but where has anyone said anything about flopping digital? Nowhere because they aren't talking about charts.

You just can't accept an opinion, that's the problem with YG stans, they can't accept it when someone doesn't like YG or any YG artists so they have to throw out numbers or how expensive their clothes are as if it makes a difference.

If I don't like an album or a comeback, I'm not going to say wow they did so well with that comeback when they didn't. Can you understand an opinion It doesn't matter how well they do on the charts or how many fans are up their ass, if I didn't like it it or I didn't think they did well on their comeback that's an opinion. If a netizen said Big Bang flopped this year, then year cry your ass of. But they didn't and you can't accept the fact that someone didn't enjoy YG's artists this year.

  73. why r people getting their knicker's in a twist. bigbang r really famous among teens and secondary/highschool kids and thats were their digital sales come from. do people even know how disgustingly cheap digitals singls in korea is. its like 50 pence per month unlimited, per song is like $0.06. so imaging teens buying these digital singls multiple times. just like elf and their album sales(although difference is that bb songs r worthy). their teenage fans r the cool type who rather download digitally. thats why i laugh every time that international fans boost about how popular their artist r through digital downloads unless ur like idols like sister or 2ne1 who's downloads r actually reflective of the people who brought them and not bulk buying. not that i am saying bb didnt do well this year cause fantastic baby was a huge hit but faced with rookie sister who has 2 top 5 songs and busker busker it just pales into comparison.

    ReplyDelete
  74. That's the thing you don't get...lol this article isn't about if you think they did well or not. Because it doesn't matter if your think they didn't "do well" or if the netizens think they didn't do well...because quality of the music or lack there of, you not liking their music..doesnt change the fact that THEY DID WELL this year.

My reply isn't even half of yours lol you're the one who has so much to say...who is "crying" because your opinion is irrelevant to this particular article.

  75. Your comment assumes I'm fucking my oppar, lol still better than not getting any like yourself. I'll enjoy it while it last ;)

  76. tbqh, that's just your opinion. The rest of kpop this year was just boring and repetitive.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I'm pretty sure that big bang has a lot of fans in 20s and 30s. The digital charts says otherwise if they are all teens they should be at school and not streaming music.

    ReplyDelete
  78. You forgot to mention that they were able to sell out in America; that says something about them internationally. Also, they performed in front of 200,000 fans total for their NEW EVOLUTION tour. It was still a very successful tour.

    ReplyDelete
  79. No. Your argument is ridiculous. If they did well on the digital charts just because of their name, then why don't other boy groups top the digital charts? For that matter, why didn't all of GD's songs chart that high? Digital charts show whether or not the public likes the song. Not whether or not they like the group. Korea loved Big Bangs songs this year.

    ReplyDelete
  85. You are delusional. How in the world would you know that 2ne1 and sistar's downloads are "actually reflective of the people who bought them" but Big Bang's aren't. Big Bang's fanbase can not bulk buy digital downloads. Do you even know how this works?

  86. It's true. I used to be a big YG stan, but everything about them has gotten so stale and repetitive and now they're dragging Epik High into it. When you look into it, all YG does is spend money on MVs and clothes these days, but all their songs, save for Lee Hi and Psy, sounded the same and got old fast.

  87. I think people will only understand why r bigbang appealing to younger teens when they go there and witness it themselves. They r really famous among that age group even boys because they r the group that is seen as cool and hip. It's like ur part of it as well if u like it. It's all about image. Just cause my skin colour is the same as rihanna they were approaching me more than my Korean and white friend whenever we were out cause they though black=hip/cool an that's the image they see bb as. It might sound like a joke but u seriously have to go and see it for ur self. Of course they have other older age group that know and like some of their songs like blue was played a lot in resturants and cafes but just doesn't compare with the way that international fans so desperately want it to come across. What I could say is among idols internationally an overall in success this year they bagged it. But songs wise I have to say sister, busker busker and Tara did very well too

  92. Actually the main point on this article how YG artist did well on chart, they instanly hit no.1 and at least can stay @ #1 for a week~ and yes compared to SM and JYP as a Big Three YG did really well this year~
So many of YG artist song charts on TOP Gaon charts as well~
I think epik high did pretty well for its cold and of course lee hi too...

But for 2NE1 YG screwed them big time for this year~ but still as a single I Love You did pretty well they can stay @ #1 on charts~ for week before gangnam style came out~

    ReplyDelete
  93. thought korean netizens were suppose to know their shit? looks like they just about as dumb as the international ones. their comments starting to become as retarded as the shit i read in an akp article

    ReplyDelete
  94. Don't know what the hell YG is doing for 2ne1. He let them go on tour with only 1 new song and then pretty much let them be. And can he please limit Jeremy Scott's fashion influence on 2ne1's costumes? I still think the tour costumes he made for New Evolution sucked.

    ReplyDelete
  95. i still prefer YG back in the day.. when it was Se7en, Lexy, Gummy...

    ReplyDelete
  96. As a label I think they did better than the rest. I'm happy tha SISTAR was mentioned :)

    ReplyDelete
  97. LOL I'm confused too~
I'm pretty sure the only artist that topped Big Bang this year is Psy (but even he didn't bring in as much). I think that's just netizen bitterness talking? Like even though they worked so hard to try to bring Big Bang down, they don't want to admit that Big Bang had an extremely successful year? LOL

    ReplyDelete
  98. LOL @ all the YG stans bringing out the numbers. No one's saying that YG didn't sell well this year. Stop being butthurt that some netizens prefer other artists.

    ReplyDelete
  99. In all honesty, if I'm going to "give" a year to a label, I like to make sure that all of their artists exceeded expectations. YG didn't do that. PSY dominated this year, but I don't think it's fair to give the credit to all of YG. Big Bang did so-so, as did 2NE1, Lee Hi's doing pretty good, and I'm not even sure if anyone else promoted; I'd have to look it up, which isn't much of a good sign :/

    Tl;dr: No they didn't.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I just want to see these Knetizen eat their words tbh. After all that those long hours put into hating on Big Bang, I guess it must sting a little to know that it didn't do SHIT and they still had a massively successful year. Butthurt Knetizen are butthurt. I wish I could rub lemons in those wounds of denial.

  104. Of all the people you choose EXO lol...their album was shitty as hell..
TTS is flawless, BoA and TVXQ were good too, maybe not their title song but the rest of the album was glorious

    ReplyDelete
  105. That's why people think YG stans are so butthurt, just look at the comments LMAO
Even tough I like some YG artists I would never stan a company, that's just so lame... Actually I kinda hate YG for fucking up SE7EN career, thank you so much grrr. He's going to become the next Gummy TT_TT

    ReplyDelete
  106. Uhh that's not how it works kid. You have to put in a SIN number when you purchase that shit in Korea. And TRUST you know manipulating those charts as fans ain't easy when the ELFs can't even figure out how. Big Bang just has lots of casual fans. Their demographic is not just grade school kids. They're also very popular with the 20s crowd thus why you can hear a lot of their songs in clubs.
But it's funny that you mention Sistar and ~legit~ digital sales together. kekek

    ReplyDelete
  107. "but all I eve see YG stans do is care about every little thing and throw out the "hater" word when somebody doesn't like YG" MFTE. Either you care or you don't. You can't act "above it all" and then get riled up at every different opinion. Idgi.

    ReplyDelete
  108. ROFLMAO. Koreans can't bulk buy digital downloads because their accounts are linked to their KSSNs. Yeah try again.
And lol Sistar is not a rookie.

    ReplyDelete
  109. And that's YOUR opinion. Jeez some of you stans are rude.

    ReplyDelete
  112. i swear 2 GOD this netizen is BIPOLAR...when bigbang got win d MTV EMA n got praise they all be like OMG u d best or bigbang is not an idol but a musician n blah blah blah....but when a normal bigbang article come up they all be like bigbang suck n blah blah...what a fucked up shit...

    ReplyDelete
  113. Not really. Charting really is reflective of how much the public love your music or think it's good. Take Big Bang's Tonight for example. Even though it was ~Big Bang~ it didn't do as well as the Alive EP last year. Another example is B2ST. Last year, they were killing it with Fiction and ppl even thought they would reach Big Bang's level. But this year's "Midnight's Sun" barely made an impact. Name/popularity is not everything when it comes to the digital chart which is why it's pretty easy for nugu groups to rise up and down those charts. The hard part though is keeping the general public's interest high in your music for years so that you are constantly a digital seller like Big Bang has done.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Exactly, can you name any boy idol act hat can keep the PUBLIC interest for this long ? Enlighten me then.

Bigbang is dominating even after their 6th anniversay in th industry. Thats quite amazing already.

  114. so what are you trying to do by commenting here if you arent "Trying" to change YG Stans thoughts on "YG Article"..

    ReplyDelete
  115. let it go... Number are facts while opinion or preferences are arguable.. He wont understand that because he think you are delusional(while I'm a neutral person here, Not YG stan or BB's fan)

    ReplyDelete
  116. TVXQ's album was easily the best in terms of diversity and quality of the songs. BoA's album and single were great too and deserved much more success than it got.

    ReplyDelete
  117. The thing is though all people didnt like BB's album but it was mass appealing, okay!! Though their album wasn't up to the expectation, they did well than other by bringing money... Companies and Artists sell music for what?? To bring in money of course and that's what YG did this year more then any1 so they dominated this year... Now did you get why people are saying YG dominated this year and why Yg stans are throwing number?? Coz ppl like you dont get the real meaning.. Who said about being good or bad on chart or on physical album and singles sales.. It was all about who brought more money and of course it was BB as a group and Yg as a company..

    ReplyDelete
  118. I think its bad year for sm, jyp,ccm and loen so only yg left
and its more like psy year

    ReplyDelete
  119. i have to disgaree BB's comeback was a sucess and all of them did very well majority of them achieving allkills and getting recognition, the seungri thing i dont understand why they are blaming him instead of that perveted japanese magazine.
but again 2NE1's comeback meeh and i think they could have released a better song.
YG got people mad by pushing the Album release....twice.
he also said that Supearls were going to debut this september??? what happened?
all in all. good year for YG finacially and reputation wise
SHIT year for YG on their managment and bad handled schudules.

    ReplyDelete
  120. After reading all of the facts listed above, how can you persist in the delusion that Big Bang did so - so? People can have opinions, but when opinions ignore facts they become delusions. Were you a Republican in the last U.S. election?

    ReplyDelete
  121. YG did kick ass this year but if 2NE1's next comeback isn't great at all we're going to have a problem

    ReplyDelete
  122. Bringing politics into this; lol you're cute. By Big Bang's standards, yes, they only did so-so this year. They're going to make a lot regardless because of their fanbase. Take the fans and the hype out of the equation and they did not meet expectations this year. It's not delusion just because you're a biased fan. The only deluded opinions ignoring facts here is yours; I never stated my word was law. The people living in Korea making these comments will always know more than any I-fan will. Just because fans loved the comeback doesn't mean the general public did the same.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If you are not blind. You would know how much Bigbang dominate this year. Better than fans and many expect. Definetely better than last year with Tonight.

If by Bigbang standard you are talking about, yeah, they are doing better , Another peak since 2008.

And if Bigbang is doing So - So, I don't know WHO is doing great then. Hahahahaa

      Delete
  123. You are calling GangnamStyle best song of the year @@ No hating on it but I found it ridicilous

    ReplyDelete
  124. who sold out what venues...2ne1? in America? No they did not.

    ReplyDelete
  125. and any of the groups they mentioned sold over half that? I think they're going on digital and public appearance/awareness

    ReplyDelete
  126. They're writing off everything Big Bang did because of Seungri's scandal. Big Bang could've sold a billion copies of their latest album and they would still think it's irrelevant because Seungri fucked some random girl. It's exponentially worse that it's a Japanese girl... I mean we already know how a lot of Koreans feel about Japanese people, and Seungri goes and gets caught sleeping with one. -_-

    ReplyDelete
  127. Sistar's company has been called out for chart manipulation for all their groups, not just Sistar. So while comments DO vary from time to time, no one really knows how popular these groups are. The oversaturation of idol groups and excessive media play being done by companies (because of corruption in the industry) makes it hard to see.

The yardstick everyone is measuring by is which idols didn't fuck up with scandals this year... So far, Busker Busker, Ailess, and Sistar have managed to keep their noses clean and their names in all the right articles—media play or not.

Hence, the opinion that Busker Busker, Ailee, and Sistar did better than YG this year...

When the numbers show that they didn't. Ranking first is fine and all, but when you look at the number of albums bought and the amount of money made, YG artists doubled that even without taking into account Psy's success.

    ReplyDelete
  128. netizens are basically born to hate every artists.
esp YGE artists. netizens are always have love and hate relationship with them~

    ReplyDelete
  129. when it comes to quality, it depends on your music preference. Sure, everyone have their own preference, and we can't blame netizens for not liking YGE's releases this year (with exception of Lee Hi&PSY)
But remembering netizens' love and hate relationship towards YGE and its artists, this is just.......a normal article and comments to appear.

But I did agree, 2NE1's song is kinda forgettable this year. I listened to it a lot, but not all the people do the same like they did when 2NE1 released I am The Best.

    ReplyDelete
  130. for once knetizens are right (and I love all of the idols, singers here)

    ReplyDelete
  131. they did sold out the one in LA. Altho, it's only that, at least THEY DID.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Show me your facts to prove that they did only so - so. The fact is that their album sold more both digitally and physically this year than last year. I can give you numbers if you want. And I'd like to know whose expectations you are talking about? Did you see the list up above about the highest earners in the entertainment industry and Big Bang being number 1? Have you seen the expectations and stock prices for YGE recently? Do you really think that these netizen comments represent the perceptions of the general public or even the business community?

But I'm glad you think I'm cute.

    ReplyDelete
  133. well to be honest netizens hated Big Bang even before they debut and are still hating them now..but even if Big Bang is hated where are they now? Still earning millions, people still praising their music, still topping and high on charts for both physical and digital charts, they are still Korea's national boy group and VIPs still with them and never left them..

    ReplyDelete
  134. No one talks about lexy? Lol

    ReplyDelete
  140. Considering that the only songs they released so far in 2012 was a Japanese album, a song for Intel, and "I Love You" which they could not properly promote or follow up on due to their world tour...

2NE1 did pretty fucking good this year.

"I Love You" was a great success even with the barest minimum for promotions and their tour is doing great.

    ReplyDelete
  141. I think he redid the Su Pearls line up... probably because Lee Hayi, who was supposed to debut with Su Pearls in place of Park Ji-min, ended up as a solo artist.

I'm wondering if the remaining members of Su Pearls will debut as a trio or if he'll add one or two more members to fill the group out a little. They're pretty rough around the edges in general as far as image and dancing, etc. So I completely understand if he's using this time to train them properly.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Here's your problem: you see anything even slightly critical as "just an opinion" and anything reaffirming your bias as fact. No one is denying that they sold a lot, so stop being dense. This is about overall commercial and public reception, something that goes beyond fandom (in which case, yes, K-netizens DO have an advantage with their words this time). YG's stock has risen mainly in part to PSY, so why you keep making this a BB thing is beyond me (again, your bias is showing). It's no secret that the Big 3 have higher standards to live up to compared to smaller companies, and with the other two being more lax this year, of course it would look like YG "dominated". I only gave some credibility to the netizen comments because those people actually live over there; I'm well aware of the fact that they don't (always) speak for the majority (and I hope you stans remember that the next time you all bitch about them). BB did well but anyone who's been watching them for years would know that they're capable of better; they were good but not great. I'm convinced that if it weren't for "Gagnam Style", this article wouldn't have even been written.

You are indeed quite cute; something has to make up for your lack of comprehension. God is fair.

    ReplyDelete
  143. you knew the anwser to your question PROOF: this thread .. you just have to admit it yourself ;)

    ReplyDelete
  144. If this is about overall commercial and public reception, then the fact that all of their songs are going to be high on the yearly digital charts shows that the public likes their songs. The public is also rather impressed with the scope of their tour. Granted, the public is extremely impressed with Psy right now, but not even Psy sold as much digitally or physically as Big Bang, so I fail to see how anyone who has been watching Big Bang since the beginning could think that they could have done better? Your own bias is showing. Also, the fact that you give any credence to these comments as representing the general public in Korea fairly shows your own lack of comprehension. You are not cute. God is indeed fair.
