A Pink's Eunji on the chopping block for rude behavior

A Pink's Eunji has been under fire for the past couple of days on Nate Pann for some "rude behavior" on her guesting of 'Challenge 1,000 Songs'.

I predict that this will be another case like f(x)'s Krystal where it's reprimandable behavior to Koreans but not so much of a big deal to i-fans. As of now, however, the controversy hasn't gotten to that big of a deal considering Eunji's soaring popularity with 'Reply 1997'.

Summary of the post: (right click the image below and open in a new tab to view in full resolution)

1. Solbi grabbed the mic first so the other celebrities gave up and walked back in but Eunji continued holding on to the mic. Lee Hwi Jae told her countless times that Solbi had gotten to it first but Eunji kept laughing and refused to give it up. Solbi eventually kept the mic.

2. Han Min Kwan grabbed the mic first but Eunji once again grabbed the mic from him and started singing over him. Lee Hwi Jae got angry and gave the win to Lee Hwi Jae, not Eunji.

3. During national judo athlete Jo Jun Ho's turn, she pushed him over to get to the mic, hurting Jo Jun Ho's finger in the process. Lee Hwi Jae had to step in to tell them to share, to which Eunji looked down angrily at.

1. [+447, -49] I'm not a fan of Eunji or anything but you have to admit that she was wrong acting this way.

2. [+413, -25] I watched the show because I'm a fan of Jo Jun Ho but I totally lost respect for Eunji after I saw this. I was so disappointed in how aggressive she was by stealing the mics. I love Eunji but I don't think it's right to shield her from this. The national athlete is more important than Eunji. He's the one that represented our country and suffered so much hardships with misjudgements but still managed to work hard and bring home a bronze model for us.

3. [+386, -43] Respect.... ↘ Lost

-

1. [+53, -6] I love Eunji, but this is wrong. Why is everyone trying to shield her? What's wrong is wrong and totally different from whether you like her or not. I'm really disappointed in A Pink fans.

2. [+46, -5] She was way too aggressive...

3. [+41, -2] Replay

I believe A Pink's agency caught wind of the matter because this morning, an article about a year old video of Eunji from 'A Pink News 2' shot up as the #1 article on Nate. (It's a year old - why talk about it now?) The article basically says that netizens discovered a video showing Eunji's true, tomboyish personality and picks out a scene where she's feeding her brother.

Sounds like buzz for positive press.

Like I mentioned before, the "controversy" isn't that widespread yet, and I don't think it will ever reach Krystal's level considering all of the shield work both her fans and her company are doing atm.

  1. can somebody tell me how k-netizens viewed krystal's controversy in the past..

and my little request is i wanna know how k-netizens respond to the news about celebrities admitting they have gone under the knifes??

  2. eunji doesn't need a cube or her fans to shield her. her drama, her awesome acting, and her currently charting songs already shield her.

anyway, even though i like eunji, i think this is too much. the article made it worse, i believe it all happens in variety kind of way (like, hwijae is always "angry" all the time lol), but it's still too much. i know as rookies (i think this is shot before eunji reply 1997 fame?) she felt insecure about airtime, but i don't really like rookie aggressiveness.

she'll get scolded for this but this is nothing to damage her right now. she just need to be careful in the future, because if there's something like t-ara bullying drama in her group, this thing will definitely surface again.

  3. Before Reply 1997, I didn't know of Eunji. I just knew of Apink, but never even finished listening to a song of theirs. I'm a die-hard fan of the sitcom and of Shiwon, so it's kind of unfortunate to see this happen. Like the blogger said, it may not be a huge deal to me (as an i-fan), but it may be to Korean people. But Eunji's popularity is rising and people will continue to watch her. So I'm sure that by now, she's reflecting upon this and will present a better image next time.

Krystal, on the other hand, just rubs me the wrong way. She has such a bad attitude, it irks me.

  4. what happend to Krystal?
p.s. thanks for all the hard work.

  5. I need to see the whole clip....I don't know her but I know A-pink just dun recognize the member...

maybe she try too hard for the show...I dunno..

For Krystal, I'm sorry to say that she really have bad attitude, I watch a lot of shows and sometimes she in it and I don't like it when she come on the screen

  6. I hope Cube will have a talk with Eunji abt this, the girl is still too young and need to learn a lots in terms of manner and attitude. I dont think this issue would affect Eunji's fame considering how popular she is now. Honesly,I agree that was a wrong act from Eunji, she should be more careful and learn to control herself, I don't think she did it because of air time though, it's more like she acted out of excitement and it was also due to her tomboyish personality. Maybe she tried to be funnier on variety show but it turned out to be rude. Still this is a lesson she has to remember.Aggressiveness is no good. My friend living in Korea happened to witness Reply 1997 filming on the street and saw Eunji too. He said she seems to be a really nice girl, she would wave to fans as they call her and smile all the time, she also talked and helped the staffs, everybody on set love her . So yeah, I hope she will act more matured and remain humble, esp when her fame keeps rising like this

  7. with great popularity come great responsibility.....
great sunbae must be obey but small hubae

  8. I'm a huge fan of Answer Me 1997 but I feel like it's not getting the hype as I expected, but I'm an international fan so I'm sure. Do you know if it's really a huge hype in Korea?

About Krystal...Ahh where do I start? There has been several instances of her rude behavior in the past, I'm just so sick of her now.

-Kamilias were upset over her evil glare behind Seungyeon's back on Running Man
-She disrespected her instructor on Kiss and Cry
-Apparently during an FX photoshoot/filming, she and Sulli were very rude to the staff
-She showed disinterest on a variety show (I think this was her most infamous rude moment)

To sum it up, she's a bitch and no one can top her.

  9. ^ it's getting hype in korea. its rating is 3~4%, which is a serious number for paid cable channel. both actors gained pleasant critics and their OSTs are charting so well, even triumphed g-dragon for a moment.

most i-fans are talking about faith and ttby (thanks to lee minho and sm idols), but both dramas aren't even surpassed 10% in their home countries. ha. i'm sure not many i-fans watch you who rolled unexpectedly when that drama is also raking in 30~40% viewership.

  10. Reply 1997 is quiet trendy in Korea right now, both duet of SIG and Eunji top the charts, just go watch the Mnet countdown perf of these two today and you will know how hype the K fans are, ther practically went insane lol. Key words about the drama such as "Reply 1997 ep 13, 14" "Reply 1997 kiss scenes", "Daddy Long legs ending" were all on top most search on Nate and Naver last Tuesday too. Clips cut from the drama were also on top most watch on Daumtv, Mgoon
tvn is on a roll this year, i truly hope the drama will get some awards, everything abt it just perfect ^^

  11. ^ omg i have not seen episodes 13 and 14 yet so i didn't understand half of your comment!! lol. *covers eyes* But yess TVN has some great dramas! Shut up flower boy band was so good too!

    ReplyDelete
  12. I don't see the problem here, just trying to have some fun. Once again k-netizens blowing dumb shit out of proportion.

    ReplyDelete
  13. In regards to reply 1997, I'm glad it's doing so well. tvN has been doing so great this year, they keep churning out good stuff.

And as for Eunji, I don't know. I need to see the actual clip, because usually caps don't do the real clips justice and some people just blow nothing into something (ex: hyomin "ruining" hwayoung's umbrella). It seems like it was done in a joking matter, idk. Although I do agree that, as the hoobae, she should respect her sunbaes. But I don't think she's "rude".

And because Krystal is always brought up when talking about bad behavior, I agree that her being bored during that Quiz show or whatever was rude, but everything else (kiss&cry, running man, that one mnet interview where the interviewer asked her a rude question) was blown out of proportion just because she already gained the "bitch" title.

i want to know netizen thought about this

  15. This is what I've been worrying whenever I saw Eunji in Apink News. She has a tomboyish and aggressive personality and really hard to cry. Knowing that she's the oldest in her siblings, the way she takes care her only younger brother, the way she mixed around with elders a lot during her pre-debut days and the fact that she's from Busan (I believe that Busan girls are tougher than Seoul girls.lol.). All these answer why her personality is like that. If you saw Apink News you could see that Eunji always acted like a leader more than Chorong. I mean Chorong maybe the one gave out orders but Eunji was the one that took action first. I'm always worried if there will be any issues regarding her personality in future. And here it is.

I love Apink and I love Eunji. In this case I think she was trying too hard to the point that she forgot that there is a border between sunbae-hoobae that should not be taken for granted (at least in Korea). I believe that Eunji was wrong. Cube should deal with her to be more respectful to sunbae in future. And I hope the fame doesn't make her act high and forget the place where she stands.

  16. ^^^^
To Anonymous @1:59: In the Solbi situation, Solbi is Eunji's sunbae. It is Eunji's responsibility to be respectful as a hoobae, and trying to take away a microphone from a singer who is a sunbae can be perceived as disrespectful, which is why the netizens are reacting that way.

  17. Rude girl, learn your manners.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Krystal and this girl (unknown bitch) are just rude. People like that aren't meant to be famous.

    ReplyDelete
  19. "-Kamilias were upset over her evil glare behind Seungyeon's back on Running Man
-She disrespected her instructor on Kiss and Cry"

these two situations are completely made up. if you wanna come at krys then try harder

    ReplyDelete
  20. Nah, Krystal is just stank. She's said rude, racist things to her own group members, and she has a perpetual air of entitlement to her. (Don't know why, given how plain-faced she looks, but Korea likes that, I guess.)

By contrast, Eunji seems like she needs to brush up on her etiquette a bit.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Idk, seem tamed to me compare to various variety show where they trample each other for fun.
They say this everytime: 'there's no sunbae-hobae, girl-boy in a game of variety'

    ReplyDelete
  22. Gee, Korean netizens making stupid assumptions and expecting pop stars to adhere to moral standards that they themselves completely ignore in their own lives. Gosh, can't remember where I've seen that before recently.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Urgh, some comments... you forgot that this show is not the usual variety show, it's a variety show with idols but targeting an older audience (my grandma likes this kind of variety show for example), the idols know they have to show respect there.

I like Onew from SHINee, and I know he participated quite often in this show and is always well-seen from the audience because he's polite, well-mannered and funny.

Eunji acted like an immature, impolite brat, that's all.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I don't think it was blown out of proportion, I mean, like the anon above said, this is a show targeted for older people and... yeah, she was inappropiate andher behaviour (if you watch the whole show) is very akward to watch, I believe as viewers, people are entitled to show their dissent towards her.

Plus is not like they hate her, she's an idol and they're portrayed to be well mannered to an extend that sometimes look kind of plastic, so i guess people are shocked with her behaviour on the show

    ReplyDelete
  25. "these two situations are completely made up. if you wanna come at krys then try harder"

Do you live in a hole? How are they made up? Get out of your hole and find it online. :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. i hope eunji can tone down her aggressiveness and learn manner. but no, i don't hope for her to be a passive quiet only nodding in the corner type of girl. she has that busan charm (idk why i find these busan girls' personality more endearing, ex. sunhwa, lizzy) and strong leader personality -- and i like her for that.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Bravo guys! now that the girl is having her moment now you want to rain on her parade... CHILLAXX! I think she was a bit pushy(?) trying to win and sing the songs but I dont know what people want really.. people always complain of how girl group members are like robots calling them plastic for just bowing and smiling when they are afraid to even blink to not get bashed by k-netizens but then someone comes shows a different side and theyre bashed as well... plus its variety... i've seen boys in variety shows getting all comeptitive with their sunbaes or hyungs and I dont remember someone flamming them...

    ReplyDelete
  28. IDEK why when stuffs like this happen, fans outside of korea are saying they're blowing it out of proportion especially since I doubt many of them are seeing it from a KOREAN perspective.

Maybe KOREAN in KOREA think it's inappropriate. They do have a stricter culture than western countries. It's obnoxious to push your own cultural view points on them without trying to understand their.

Anyway if the show demo is targeting older people then Eunji just need to be more careful next time. It's her first time so I don't think they'll be too strict.

    ReplyDelete
  29. One thing I don't get is that Netizebuzz never mentioned anything abt Reply 1997 and its idols cast despite the fact that it's so popular in Korea right now and being talked a lot on Nate pann but suddenly they chose a negative talk about of Eunji to post. Now i-fans everywhere spread this article around and started to bash Eunji, calling her brat, bitch ect.

I'm not a hard core fan of EJ but geezz the girl is young and talented, she is a human too and this is the first time she made a mistake, could you people please give her another chance?
Yes, she did wrong, she need to be more careful and act more mature but does she deserve to be called a bitch for this? there are tons of idols out there who are much older than her and did something even worse but they are still loved and respected.
This girl's career just started to shine, i fans started to notice her through Reply 1997 and pay attention to A pink as well as EJ's amazing vocal ability but now because of this, many immediatly turned to be her's haters, bash her so bad saying she should not be famous even though some of them even don't know who she is, what are her talents and how nice she treats her sunbae/hoobae in other situations . Sigh, this world is too harsh to live.

    ReplyDelete
  30. If she can't behave with proper etiquette on shows, girl should go back to her Busan with that kind of rowdy behavior.

    ReplyDelete
  31. i don't worry about Eunji this time. Most k-netizens are fairly generous to young stars more than i-fans think. They'll be willing to overlook her mistakes this time.

    ReplyDelete
  32. That's her personality I've been saying it from day one. But Eunji is also not a snobby brat. She'll learn from this and it won't ever happen again.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'm not really a A-PINK or a Cube fan. But when I watched this I found it totally fine. It was funny. The way that Eunji and others acted really made the show interesting. Maybe because we all have different cultural content and experiences.

    ReplyDelete
  34. LOL, people saying 'I'm not a A-pink fans, or Eunji fans, etcetc'. LIES!
grow up you 13 year olds and see that the world doesn't revolve around your idol.Even the most 'innocent' idols are bitches on the inside.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Eunji is just being Real. I do admit that this was a bit rude and disrespectful. But not anyone is perfect so give the girl another chance. She is talented and has a great personality:) Busan girls are generally really crazy?? Lizzy,Sunhwa,Eunji. But who cares,i LOVE them^^
