Lee Seung Gi writes lengthy post opening up about the criticisms being lodged at his new family

Article: Lee Seung Gi writes lengthy clarification post on continued controversy surrounding his marriage... "Even my close friends were suggesting we break up"

Source: Insight + Insight via Instagram

[+979] Yes, your wife may not have chosen her parents, but she still grew up in luxury under their money

[+789] Sigh... When your rose-colored lenses are this thick, you're obviously not going to see what everyone else is seeing.. It seems to be why people like this get married, then remarried, then remarried a third time.. You don't know until you know, right?..

[+650] And there's a reason why everyone's against your marriage..

[+630] Yes, you cannot choose your parents, but you were able to choose your in-laws

[+437] Her family has caused tears of blood out of the eyes of others and yet here he is crying about his own eyes being hurt more. Even if the 300,000 number of victims isn't accurate, there are victims that exist, right? Even if the dollar amount of the scam isn't accurate, there was a scam that happened, right? What fans are asking you to do is to come clean about all of this. Yes, a child shouldn't be responsible for their parent's crime, but did they not live off of the money in happiness and health while others were forced to live without? If she truly loves her father, she will do what's right for everyone. You are an adult, and you made the choice to marry her, so us fans are only asking that you stay quiet and live your life in private, especially when you're living lavish lives off the backs of others.

[+405] Yes, it's none of the public's business who you choose to marry, but to call the stock manipulation scam an unfounded rumor?? That's an issue completely of its own

[+357] What exactly about the scam is he calling a "misunderstanding" when the father served time in prison for it?

[+308] When everyone is telling you to stop, there's a reason for it

[+258] So by the logic he's using to defend his wife, then what does he think of the children whose parents committed s*icide over this scam? What does he have to say about their pain?

[+173] From Lee Da In's perspective, what he says is true, that she could not have chosen her parents. But Lee Seung Gi himself was able to choose his in-laws, no? Why does he keep writing from the perspective of a victim?... Where is his consideration for the children whose parents committed s*icide over her parent's scam? It makes me uncomfortable how he places the blame solely on the parents and not the kids... Because by his logic, the children of the victims are still living painful lives because of the decisions of their parents, and why should they deserve that?

[+164] Whatever decision you make, as long as you're the one who chose it and you're the one taking responsibility for it, it will be a better option than to listen to others and blame them once things go wrong. You are smart and respectful, and I'm sure you made a decision that you felt you would be able to handle the consequences of. Whether your marriage fails or is successful, we will just have to wait and see.

[+148] I respect his decision, and think that this falls in line with the values he's shown us. If he had broken up with her for the sake of his image and his fear of the public's criticisms, then I'm sure people would've still had something to say about that as well. He chose Lee Da In, which does not necessarily mean that he chose her economic criminal father. Like he promises in his post, he will continue to give back to society, to the public and his fans, for choosing a wife with in-laws that are looked down upon by said society.

[+141] All that matters is your happiness, right?

[+112] When the people who love you most are telling you not to do something, you have to realize that there's a reason why.. Yes, your wife was not able to choose her parents, but you were able to choose whether you wanted to marry someone with parents like that;;; You chose to become family with them;;; and it's all just unfortunate. What more acn we say when you are choosing to take responsibility for your own ill decisions;;;

[+96] So what we're still asking is why you're choosing such a treacherous path for yourself...

[+75] Us fans are just upset because it seems he's adamant about choosing the hardest path for his life ㅠㅠ

[+56] I don't see a point in posts like this anymore when everyone has already turned their backs on him

[+29] Yes, she could not have chosen her parents... but it's so hypocritical to victimize her when she's been on TV all her life bragging about how her bedroom is the size of a living room... Hypocrisy at its finest.

[+29] It was wrong of him to call the stock manipulation a misreport.. when there are people who have lost their lives over it, and their families continue to live with that pain today..

Article: Lee Seung Gi, "My father-in-law embezzled 26 billion won? A complete misreport... the rumors are difficult and frustrating"

Source: KBS via Naver

[+235, -4] He was sentenced to prison and served time, do you seriously think our laws are that foolish? Please just stay quiet out of respect for the victims... So you think you can just disappoint the public and still expect their love?? Stop with the greed and go enjoy your life with that immature wife of yours who's spent her life bragging about the size of her bedroom. That's what the public really wants from you.

[+110, -5] Misreport where? He already served a three-year sentence, and the other scam that you're talking about in your post hasn't even been judged by the Supreme Court yet so what are you talking about? The public has a deeper understanding of Kyeon-ssi's family and their crimes than you'll ever know. It's hilarious how you're only a week into being their son-in-law and you're already out here playing their spokesman. Seems like you're just going to be gaslit your entire life.

[+86, -0] Please just live quietly. No matter how many times you refute these things, your image is never going to return to what it used to be.

[+85, -1] Either way, he already served three years for one crime and is now waiting for a judgment from the Supreme Court for another crime. Even if he's deemed innocent for the second crime, it still stands true that he was guilty of a crime at all with the first one. Do you think it's easy for someone to be so involved in crime after crime like this? You whine about how we don't get to choose who our parents are but your wife was the one who bragged about the size of her bedroom with that money. What more is there for her to victimize? Just stay quiet; it's what's best for everyone.

[+66, -0] Lee Seung Gi wrote his post as if his family's being framed but let it be known that his father-in-law served time in prison twice

[+57, -0] Looks like he's being scammed once again

[+54, -1] This all makes me think Hook Entertainment did quite a fantastic job at gussying his image to look smart... hard-working, upright. He seems like a completely different person with the way he's acting just days after getting married.

[+44, -1] You can't have it all, right? You gain one, you lose another, that's just how life rolls... You chose to put everything on the line for loving Lee Da In, but the rest of us refuse to fall in line with that. Stop acting like this is none of your fault... what isn't? There are victims still out there so please just stay quiet...

[+23, -0] Why does his love story feel like he's fallen for an MLM scheme? It's fine that you're in love with who you are but how dare you shield a criminal?

[+21, -0] Is this who you truly are? Have we been fooled by your image all this time? You keep calling your family's crimes a "misreport" but if anyone should be clarifying anything, it should be Lee Da In's parents coming forward with an apology. Her father served time in prison for crying out loud... why are you all media playing as if you're the bigger victims?

[+19, -1] Are you this family's new spokesperson? Please don't use the image you've built up all your life to defend the crimes of such a pathetic family.

[+16, -0] Seung Gi-ya... your father-in-law served time in prison...

[+13, -0] So his scam was for 20 billion won and not 26 billion won and it's just soooo unfair that people aren't getting the numbers right, right? Is that what you're writing this post for? Why do you think your in-law served three years in prison?

[+12, -0] He's really lost his mental ㅋㅋ farewell
