Does Lee Chaeyeon have the chops for a successful solo career?

Video: Why former IZ*ONE member Lee Chaeyeon is not as popular

1. [+110] Everything about Chaeyeon is great but she's just not the type of visual that Koreans are into. Every time I see her stage, I'm blown away by her potential and talent, but her visuals are where things get unfortunate ㅠ This would be easier to stomach if she lacked in another area but she's actually so close to perfect in terms of potential, talent, skill, body, skin... It'd be great if she had a particular charm to her looks that could appeal to a niche since she's not your traditional beauty but ㅠ If she was in a group with other visuals, she could at least be the designated talented member and be able to cover some of her flaws that way, but as a solo, her visuals just don't cut it

2. [+97] She needs better song quality... Chaeyeon herself has no issue.

3. [+87] She needs to really play up her best qualities and leave a big impression on stage.. otherwise.. it will be difficult for her

4. [+66] The one true reason she's not as popular is because... we all know why

5. [+56] With female solos, your safest bet is to just give the public what they want. Make everything public friendly with a repetitive, addictive hook, and place high on the digital charts. Only then will you barely see some profit. I don't know who decided her concept, herself or her agency, but it's difficult for female solos to cater to niche concepts and do well at the same time. I know fans are always like "they should be able to do whatever concept they want" but those are the same fans that end up leaving the fandom because they're tired of their idol struggling to grow their fandom and having to shoulder the burden of doing all the work for them.

6. [+52] I just don't think the idol path is for her.. Chaeyeon is used to years of being compared to other members and comments about this or that.. so I can understand feeling depressed about it. She's still young so I think she should take a long look at career paths for her future.

7. [+48] She'll be plenty successful if her second album has intense dance choreography. Chaeyeon herself has no issues, it's just that her first album song leaves something to be despired. I'm looking forward to her coming back with a faster tempo and a dance break next.

8. [+45] Chaeyeon is perfect in everything except visuals

9. [+37] She definitely needs a refreshing, outgoing concept, I think she'd do well with that

10. [+28] I really support her but I have to admit her solo song is pretty boring. I hope the best for her. More than anything, she needs more confidence! Aja!

11. [+26] Her visuals are unfortunate. The only thing she has going for her is her dancing skills, but even that I find questionable. Her fans are always raving about how she has smooth skills but she just looks like she's fluttering around. I'm not trying to hate, it's just what I feel.

12. [+25] She just lacks so much confidence in herself, it's hard to watch

13. [+24] Younger fans are just more into visuals than talent, it can't be helped

14. [+23] She was so smiley and confident on 'Produce 48' when she was the WM team leader and dancing to 'Instruction', I really loved that about her. But after getting in 12th place, going through all those IZ*ONE controversies, and being eliminated from 'Street Woman Fighter', I think her growth has stagnated and has actually caused her to fall into a deep depression. Fans will only flock to someone who gives off a positive energy. You have to admit that people aren't going to take an interest in someone who seems to be hiding inside themselves, whose growth seems to be going downhill. She needs brighter hair and make up without the bangs covering half her face. Her hair and make up were fine in her music video so I don't know why they do her up like that on stage. If her agency is going to fail at caring for her mental health, the least they can do is support her with better songs and concepts... because it's all just a mess right now. Her career as an idol is over if her next album isn't something that completely wows the public and helps her image stand out.

15. [+19] There's nothing to analyze here, she just doesn't have the looks for the job. Even her back dancers are prettier than her.

16. [+18] People give her a lot of crap for having a depressing personality with no confidence but if she had been born pretty, she would probably have a more positive personality too, which is something I find unfortunate

17. [+16] It's just because her looks are way behind other idols

18. [+14] All she has going for her is her dance skills

19. [+13] ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ We all know why.. no one just wants to be the one to say it.

20. [+12] Jun Somi and Chungha are both from 'Produce' as well and didn't have such great starts with their first albums either. It's usually the second album that they start getting a response to. I wish the best for Chaeyeon's next album.

21, [+12] I think she just has a weak personality? Which is understandable if you're one member in a group but she's a solo so it's hard to find any appeal in her when she's like that
