Cases spike in Europe, Korean model isn't effective outside of Korea

Article: "The Korean model has not worked in Italy" the thoughts of local health authorities

1. [+623, -18] Instead of "The Korean model 'has not worked' in Italy", a more accurate expression would be "The Korean model was 'never implemented' in Italy", not by the politicians, not by its people...

2. [+502, -4] The first non-disputable condition of the Korean model: people need to f*cking listen

3. [+617, -234] I know people give a lot of credit to our country for our government's preventative measures but the reality of the situation is that we as a people all put in the effort together at the ground level. People were wearing masks in February well before doctors were on TV telling us to, and people were avoiding virus hotspots before contact tracing even became a thing. Every individual was doing what they could to take care of themselves so we have a lot fewer cases than everyone else. It's just funny that the government's trying to take credit for that...

4. [+136, -5] It's just a completely different culture. You'll never see protests erupt from our country or Japan or China once the government tries to implement some control, but look at Europe. There are protests everywhere demanding freedom. France has set a curfew but that has just led to more people being out during the day.

5. [+127, -4] Why can't they just admit it's because they're not wearing masks ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ they talk the talk but never walk the walk

6. [+40, -0] Government measures aside, it's ultimately up to the people to protect themselves!

7. [+15, -1] Koreans are just good at listening to directions. We were all very good about wearing masks for years now because of the fine dust from China. We're #1 when it comes to looking out for ourselves.

8. [+14, -1] #1 Europe and the US are not as quick when it comes to taking preventative action and research like our country. #2 Their culture has 100 times more skinship than Asian cultures. #3 No other country in the world can rival our country's ability to come together as people when needed. #4 We're a country that managed to join the OECD in just 40 years since we were left with ashes in the Korean war.

9. [+19, -0] Our people are just at the top when it comes to national character. We've always prioritized hygiene and came together when necessary. Our politicians may be trash but our people are amazing.

1. [+100, -7] M a s k!!!!!! The biggest reason...

2. [+66, -6] Even the English queen is going around without a mask, why would you expect their people to listen anymore?

3. [+39, -3] They're a funny group of people ㅋㅋㅋ They hate face masks but they'll run stores empty of toilet paper and hand sanitizer ㅋㅋㅋ they'll spread all the conspiracies about the virus but are scared of it behind their own backs ㅋㅋㅋ

4. [+12, -2] Wear a mask, you barbarians!!!

5. [+8, -4] There's just something in the DNA of our people that comes out in the time of national crises. No matter how many fights were had, we all come together in the end when necessary~ that's the biggest difference between us and them ^^

6. [+7, -0] Our people wear KF94 masks, I think that's the biggest difference. Whenever I see pictures of foreigners, they're all wearing the flimsy blue ones.

7. [+7, -0] All thanks to our people wearing masks

8. [+6, -0] The west doesn't value individualism, they value selfishness
