The root of the problem with fandoms mass streaming songs on digital charts

Article: Streaming songs on repeat... can we stop now?

Article talks about the stress and exhaustion with fandoms that force each other to stream digital songs on repeat overnight whenever there's a comeback which really only stands to benefit the pockets of digital sites in the end.

1. [+122, -8] I think fandoms are more obsessive when it comes to this because whenever chart rankings are lower than expected, the media starts talking as if the group is a flop now. No fan wants to see their favorite idol suffer that kind of treatment.

2. [+81, -2] We just need to stop giving trophies based on digital chart achievements.. but digital sites take up the most percentage of trophies on music shows and year-end ceremonies so fans who want to land their idol a trophy has to stream overnight. There would be no need for this if digital charts didn't matter. The actual act of fandoms streaming overnight isn't the issue, it's the system that forces them to do it that's the issue;; fans would much rather buy another album or fan merchandise with the money they're spending every month on these digital sites

3. [+55, -7] Good article

4. [+36, -1] It's crazy, really. Just get rid of all these charts and put out songs in the order of release. It's not like streaming is financially beneficial to the singers or their producers.

5. [+33, -1] I'm a fan myself but have to admit that this isn't healthy

6. [+13, -0] The only way to get rid of it is if people stop putting groups down for being flops and award ceremonies are distributed differently. Why do you think fans resort to this? Because all these digital charts have their own award ceremonies and the media is constantly looking for their next bait to chomp down on. Why should fans have to stop? Why aren't fans treated like a part of the public? It's unfair that the entire blame is put on fans without taking a look at the problems within the system first.

7. [+13, -0] So another digital site claims that they had to make some adjustments because fandoms mass streaming songs was not an accurate reflection of public interest or taste... but it's hypocritical because they're also feeding into it by creating things like '5 minute charts', 'popularity awards', 'text vote awards'... they're fanning the fire.

8. [+10, -0] Don't you think a society that judges and rates a creative work only on the number it achieves on a digital chart is the problem? Digital sites use this to promote competition between fandoms. Melon totally feeds this by having things like 'stream proof' for fans to prove how much they've streamed and compete against each other and charts that show the predicted changes in the next 5 minutes, making fans go crazy and stream even more. Hypocritical, isn't it?

9. [+10, -0] The media needs to stop by talking about singers as if they've flopped if they don't do well on the charts.

10. [+9, -0] This isn't an issue that can be solved with fans boycotting streaming. You need to get rid of the source of the issue like the top 100 charts and the award ceremonies. Why leave the root and attempt to get rid of the trunk?
