"Leeteuk is locked in sorrow. His family is miserable about all of the speculations and rumors regarding their deaths gaining media attention. They wish to send them off privately. On behalf of his family, we ask the media to refrain from reporting on the matter."

1. [+493, -31] I can understand why SM reported it as a car accident at first... They obviously wanted to spare Leeteuk from the unnecessary speculations. Just because he's a celebrity, he doesn't even have time to be sad before his entire private life is spilled onto the media... I hope his family is able to handle this well. Rest in peace.

2. [+435, -36] SM lied for Leeteuk but that's not the issue here... The issue here is the journalists running around, prying into someone's private life. Whether or not SM did good or bad by lying is not the important part... Find strength, Leeteuk.

3. [+302, -16] I completely understand why SM lied, especially after seeing all of the hate some of the articles still got and all of the controversial articles journalists still chose to release. SM's lie was not a bad thing. They did it to protect their artist and his family. This will follow him around for the rest of his life and antis will obviously use it against him from now on. I certainly hope that won't happen.

4. [+25, -4] I'm sure SM received permission from the family to lie to the media.. They called it an accident to protect the family. Even I wouldn't come outright and say it was a suicide... Cut SM some slack.

5. [+12, -3] I would normally criticize them for lying but... this is such a grave issue, I understand why they felt the need to die. Just let this go, netizens.

1. [+230, -11] I feel that he made such an extreme decision because it was difficult to handle two elderly with alzheimer's and he didn't want it to affect his children.... but why... I'm sure there may have been other issues but... It's so upsetting. May they rest in peace.

2. [+229, -24] I read the first article calling it a car accident last night... how can it change to a suicide in just one day.

3. [+83, -10] I can see why he suffered from depression considering his parents had alzheimer's. Anyone who has to live with and take care of an alzheimer's patient can feel suicidal.
