Mnet's upcoming unit girl group project 'Produce 101' will be spending 4 billion won on production expenses, practically at the level of their expenses for 'Superstar K'. Although SM and YG won't be participating, a majority of the idol agencies have contributed up to 10 trainees for the show.

The show's premise will have trainees from different agencies compete against each other as units until a final 10 are chosen and signed under Mnet to promote for a specific period of time. The idea, for example, is to create a team with both Cube and Starship trainees in one.
