Son Dambi parts ways with Pledis Entertainment

Article: Son Dambi says a beautiful farewell to Pledis after 10 years... looking for a new agency

Source: Sports Donga via Naver

1. [+663, -12] She had the potential to be so much greater but Pledis never finished supporting her... just like how they stopped supporting After School. Pledis is not nearly as powerful as the value of their name lets on... It's good that she left.

2. [+470, -26] She hasn't had a hit since 'Crazy', yup

3. [+316, -12] She had two hit songs but I don't think that was all when it came to her becoming one of the best soloists
- Her height of her career was 'Crazy' and definitely hit her peak then and went back down because she never got another hit

4. [+155, -27] It's about time that she starts showing her potential ㅋㅋㅋ

5. [+48, -0] Saturday Night, Crazy... She had so many exciting songs but her company could never back up her potential.

6. [+50, -2] I'd be hurt too if my company was blatantly biased for UEE and Nana

7. [+45, -1] First Kahi, now Son Dambi... The only trends left in Pledis are Orange Caramel now..

8. [+43, -1] Pledis is so bad at management. After School was doing so well and even won #1 with 'Because of You'. They were fine up to 'Bang' but their graduation/admissions concept screwed them over. They lost their core members and I'm sure UEE's going to leave soon too.

9. [+39, -2] Son Dambi used to be so popular and then it feels like she just disappeared

10. [+43, -3] I acknowledge that she worked hard but she was actually more successful than her talent warranted.. she wasn't that particularly good at anything.

  1. Good decision, Pledis won't run after her anyway, they clearly showed who they want to support.

  2. It is so sad that Pledis can't manage their artists right and favor only a few.
It is a good decision and I wish her good luck in her future career.

    So, two?

But really, her music slays I love it. She's an awesome K-diva. I hope for a comeback from her at her new agency.

  4. Yooara->Kahi->Jooyeon->Son Dambi, good choice for leaving the sinking ship

  5. I really liked Queen.
Gosh I will always miss that era.
That era where Pledis knew wth they were doing.
    RIP Pledis.
    Good luck SDB!!

  6. Someone who was able to make good music unlike Bigbang

    My heart hurts, but this is so true ;_;

  8. Itll be alright if they at least successfully managed those they favoured, like SM. But no, Pledis is worse. They can't even help those they favour.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Saturday Night was in top 30 in the first half of 2009. Pledis ruined her.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Hoping Jupal lured her over to her new agency!

    ReplyDelete
  11. She posted this on her instagram.

  12. Good choice! I really like her since 2009 but since then I don't really see her song anymore, I tho she can be like a BoA in Pledis Ent. but they waste on her. Move for the better company! You deserves better :)

    ReplyDelete
  13. yoonjo also left too, is a sinking ship tbh

    ReplyDelete
  14. sometimes artists and companies just don't match up and pledis has sort of a shitty way of promoting their artists :/ i think about the potential that after school, hello venus, nuest and son dambi had and i just need to shake my head. i hope that they push seventeen out properly, at least. good luck to dambi in finding a new agency that'll take care of her though!

    ReplyDelete
  15. She used to put out some real jams. I always wondered what the hell happened to her after that.
Hope some other agency signs her so she can come back in the near future!

(and where the hell is After School? Will they ever come back?)

    ReplyDelete
  16. Good choice, I love her so much and it's so sad how pledis has totally screwed her up as with all their artist, no one is safe there ugh, they have such great artist hire a new marketing team!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Makes me scared for Seventeen's future....

    ReplyDelete
  18. Son Dambi was so promising at some point then she disappeared. Good decision to leave Pledis if UEE leaves too and the orange marmalade leave too then Pledis is going towards the titanic road.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Pledis is known for this. They have talented artist and debut them successfully but they absolutely suck when it comes to managing.

I really REALLY hope they do it right this time with Seventeen, they have potential.

    ReplyDelete
  20. they are going to sink at the second year just as nuest did, i love my bbs so much, they are really talented but without a propper marketing team no matter how their debut is going, they are going to sink eventually as everyone in pledis

    ReplyDelete
  21. I remember this girl her song crazy and Saturday night was so popular all the idols used to dance to it in variety show

    ReplyDelete
  22. Where is After School?

    ReplyDelete
  23. pleads artists always suffer due to poor management, nu'est had some potential but they're just marketed so poorly. orange caramel is better known then after school and seventeen, being a large group will probably have a subunit that becomes more popular then the actual group. i'm not surprised son dambi wanted out.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yep. That's so sad.

    ReplyDelete
  25. yeah....her "recent" singles sure were a hit LOL (she hasn't had a comeback for more than a year)

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ok guys can you like stop pointing out Pledis' mismanagement like you're all so negative, why not just cheer up Son Dam Bi instead?

    ReplyDelete
  27. It's orange caramel dear :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. looool Idk why I put that I'll edit it thx

    ReplyDelete
  29. oh my god your orange marmelade gave me a good laugh, thanks :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. should I leave it?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Good, Pledis sucks at managing their artist. I hope afterschool members leave and search for new companies too

    ReplyDelete
  32. I miss the old After School and still remember the first time fall for 'Bang'

    ReplyDelete
  33. this is actually why i'm afraid seventeen may flop. i stopped being a stan because this bad managing from dambi to nuest. ceo-nim, didn't you only have dambi and kahi back when you first established?

    ReplyDelete
  34. I was just thinking of her a few days ago because i listened to some old songs from her and was wondering what happened to her...

    ReplyDelete
  35. "After School was doing so well and even won #1 with 'Because of You'.
They were fine up to 'Bang' but their graduation/admissions concept
    screwed them over."

ikr bang was so good and because of you is one of my all time faves ): so sad that pledis ruined their fame. the only thing they seem to have working for them is orange caramel but I'm afraid that pledis will wreck things again...

    ReplyDelete
  36. Nana is shooting a film in china so they won't be back any time soon....

    ReplyDelete
  37. LOOL orange marmalade

    ReplyDelete
  38. Pledis are a god damn mess.Nu'est hada great debut, now everyone's forgotten about them. After School could have been bigger, nowit's OC,Uee and the backup dancers. Hello venus were on the verge of a breakout when the Fantagio/Pledis split happened. And now 13 new kids are gonna languish

    ReplyDelete
  39. joyislovejoyislifeJune 2, 2015 at 7:35 AM

Pledis is hopeless. Seems like they're giving all their resources to their boy group now, which will end up in a failure too.

    ReplyDelete
  40. They've all currently got individual schedules (except for E-young.. as usual).

    ReplyDelete
  41. Did you see SeventeenTV? The teacher scolds them "Do you think you can get better results if you just wish it?" But Pledis didn't even provide Choreography teacher to them or a Vocal teacher, how does this company expect the kids to be better than other groups out there? Then the kids pitifully make their own choreography and practice in the room by themselves then 5 months later no improvement in singing and dancing but just tiny bit improvement by copying Jihoon dancing -.- I saw their MV, it kinda look pitiful, despite the video editor doing a good job, the singing and choreo is meh :/

    ReplyDelete
  42. Me too, they're such and talented and good group in all aspects, right now Pledis's doing a good work, but I'm so sure 17 is gonna end up like NU'EST and most Pledis artists, and they're a big group for such a small company, they might cause more losses than earnings. ;__;

    ReplyDelete
  43. lol what has this got to do with bigbang?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Pledis- Always delivers. Halfway.

    ReplyDelete
  45. eh i thought the choreo was really cute, fitted the fun feel of the song. i dont think they looked pitiful as you said, but no doubt pledis needs to up their management and promotions.

    ReplyDelete
  46. kahi and son dambi both... sad times.

but everyone check out Seventeen's debut. you'd think it would be crap since pledis is referred to as a sinking ship now but it is great and probably their last hope.

    ReplyDelete
  47. for me it was Because of You :c

    ReplyDelete
  48. ah way to be negative. we don't know yet. their debut was fantastic so let's start from there.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Seriously, what is happening with Pledis right now?

Anyway, all the best for Son Dambi and Kahi.

    ReplyDelete
  50. they think dambi's songs are better than BB's when most of her newer songs are massive snooze fests esp red candle lol

    ReplyDelete
  51. Dammit I was hoping either her or Kahi would take over..... ugh this company is a mess.

    ReplyDelete
  52. About time she left Pledis, she had so much potential but ofc Pledis ruins their own artist

    ReplyDelete
  53. yesss i preferred the hello venus when yooara was still in it (they still owe me tea ;-;) and after school with kahi T^T

    ReplyDelete
  54. i've been a fan of after school since their "diva" days and it's really upsetting seeing pledis doesn't even support them that much these days. i remembered when they won triple crown with "because of you". hope they don't disappear and comeback with another awesome song. and i also hope Seventeen doesn't ended up like nu'est.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Pledis basically runins every one in their agency. I mean, every one, no jokes. The only successful one perhaps is UEE

    ReplyDelete
  56. I WILL SERIOUSLY slap Pledis with a kimchi if they doesn't manage Seventeen well :/

    ReplyDelete
  57. "10. [+43, -3] I acknowledge that she worked hard but she was actually more successful than her talent warranted.. she wasn't that particularly good at anything."
sorry but yeah, her singing is average and Crazy was just a good and addictive song she got lucky to sing.
she is from the Lee Hyori's generation and like Hyori she kinda lost her appeal.
    i still like her though.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I think the choreography is really fun and adorable :D like ya got DK got lifted off the ground singing "You're my angel~~", The8 and other members lifting Vernon sideways-ish after his part, and all the small moments happening when one member is doing his part.

    ReplyDelete
  59. bruh smh no need to bring BB just to praise dambi

    ReplyDelete
  60. .... So what happened to NUEST?

    ReplyDelete
  61. The choreography looks great and fun on stage. I don't think it translates to a static video shoot though.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Hers was the first kpop album i ever bought, Back to 80's, i really loved her songs and it's criminal she disappeared like she did. I hope she gets to rise more now.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Crazy is still my jam. Miss that DIVA era

    ReplyDelete
  64. Pledis shipped them off to Japan. They were promoting their 2nd Japanese single NA.NA.NA.涙 for about 3 months, they just returned to SK yesterday. They also had a Japanese your earlier this year.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Baekho is able to sing already?

Im gonna wait to see if this comment gets deleted. If it doesn't then it's true that those Mods are biased ass fuck.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Kahi and Son Dambi was basically Pledis... Now both of them are gone

    ReplyDelete
  68. Persephone BasilissaJune 2, 2015 at 8:30 AM

Of course Pledis provided vocal & choreography teachers. We've watched them teaching the guys. We know what they look like and what their names are.

It's just that Pledis trusts these young men to do a lot for themselves, like in the cases of Big Bang, AKMU, Block B, B.A.P. and BTS. Idol-artists are a trend these days and Pledis is right there with it.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Yeah they didn't start their tour till mid March he had his surgery early December.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Persephone BasilissaJune 2, 2015 at 8:35 AM

Not necessarily. Because they can produce themselves, they save the company paying others for songs, choreography, producing, etc.

They make managing the group relatively easier than the other artists who have to wait to be handed material. There's potential for a real difference with this group.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Lets just hope Pledis do a good job with seveenteen. Damn those rookies are good. I have there song on repeat at the moment despite the fact that a lot of the hype wanted to turn me off...I guess its waranted hyped?

    ReplyDelete
  72. Pledis sucks. They messed up AS, HV, and are basically leaving nuest in Japan. There's no order or management in that company.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I love Son Dambi and I'm sad to see her go. All my Pledis faves are leaving. But, I sort of agree with #10. She was a good dancer but her singing wasn't exceptional.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Pledis is such a bad company, they don't even promote their idols well. I'm scared for seventeen :(

    ReplyDelete
  75. yoonjo left? i thought she stayed in pledis

    ReplyDelete
  76. i doubt they have any future.

not bcs of them but bcs PLEDIS sucks when it comes to promoting. More people payed attention to Face than MAMA an look where nu est is no and where exo is

    ReplyDelete
  77. She asked fans to stop sending gifts to Pledis on her instagram, so I guess it's just a matter of time for an official announcement.

    ReplyDelete
  78. She used to be so popular.......

    ReplyDelete
  79. Cualquier personaJune 2, 2015 at 9:11 AM

Still sad that Kahi left. :/

    ReplyDelete
  81. + she already said she was going into acting at the start of the year and I doubt she'd want to stay with Pledis just for that.

She hasn't announced her new company yet but I'm sure it's coming soon since her daum profile image changed recently

    https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CGES6CAU0AABBr1.jpg

    ReplyDelete
  82. She's been gone for a while and she alluded to it for the first time on Hello Venus' 3rd anniversary.

    ReplyDelete
  83. The pledis CEO has to be the most incompetent CEO there is.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I could see UEE going solo but I guess she's busy pursing her acting career.

    ReplyDelete
  85. .double_trouble.June 2, 2015 at 9:40 AM

yup, fortunately they still have Orange Caramel ><"""

    ReplyDelete
  86. oh tnx. i thought she stayed.

    ReplyDelete
  87. nuest had so much potential

    ReplyDelete
  88. 12 year olds dont belong hereJune 2, 2015 at 9:54 AM

All they have now is Orange Caramel + UEE. Lol pledis what are u doing????????

    ReplyDelete
  89. back the day Saturday Night and Crazy are my jam..

    ReplyDelete
  90. First love was great ... they have so much potential but pledis is ruining them

    ReplyDelete
  91. http://data2.whicdn.com/images/59440404/large.gif

    u
I MISS HER! T-T i hope she have a comeback soon with a better agency

    ReplyDelete
  92. I remember Nu'est's cameback with BAD but I don't remeber the promotions...

    ReplyDelete
  93. Am I the only one who notice how unusual her leg is? Is just her knee but it seem like she has bruise all over her leg O.o Look how purple her leg is

    ReplyDelete
  94. I don't understand how Son Dambi and AS disappeared when they were at the height of their fame during "Crazy" and "Bang". It's like Pledis could only focus on Orange Caramel and UEE. SDB and AS were like the ideal hot, healthy women before SISTAR became the healthy idols. Even so, SDB and AS proportions are no joke.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Honestly I think Pledis might be low on money. That's why AS is only releasing stuff in Japan, and a lot of their artists haven't released anything in so low. Hoping 17 kills it because that could be their last hope.

    ReplyDelete
  96. i love sondambi's old songs so much.. and this unnie is very2 pretty... i wishing u better career unnie. i want to see you more!!

    ReplyDelete
  97. As a die-hard fan of Hello Venus, I must say that I don't feel sorry for Pledis, at all. Yup. Not one bit.

    ReplyDelete
  98. The best way to have saved pledis would have been to shitcan the CEO and put Dambi and Kahi in charge

    ReplyDelete
  99. Here is how you know pledis CEO is a moron: seventeen debuted with 13 members 2 years after they were introduced

    ReplyDelete
  100. Remember when Pledis was considered the good company , oh the good ole days ..

    ReplyDelete
  101. Wasnt there a post about how pledis is struggling and the reason why they cant support their artist properly?

    ReplyDelete
  102. Yoonjo and Yoo Ara are so talented and beautiful.
Hope they find a company that can promote them properly.

    ReplyDelete
  103. We are NOT a team, so Fuck OFFJune 2, 2015 at 3:23 PM

I expected this from miles away! Pledis is so bad at management!

    ReplyDelete
  104. How are you dismissing Seungwan and DK as bad singers? Their choreo is good too one of the members Hoshi choreographed it. It's obviously hard to choreograph 13 members, but they made it work in their own way. The song was also really good and so was their album. So many people are saying that they had one of the best debuts this year. Sure they didn't have the tools to do well, but they are all talented. Their member Woozi composed the whole song too. Honestly seventeen has the whole package. I will say that their MV was kind of a mess, but that was on pledis because of their low funds. Call out pledis for their lack of support and management, but don't diss their skill because they're all clearly talented at what they do.

    ReplyDelete
  105. bad photoshop? lol

    ReplyDelete
  106. Genuinely curious, how is seventeen doing in terms of charts, and sales?

    ReplyDelete
  107. I wish her all the best! Pledis really need to get their shit together

    ReplyDelete
  108. Hey, guys, remember NU'EST?

Now Pledis is all about SEVENTEEN and it's only a matter of time before they start showing signs of abandonment. I like them and I think they're very interesting, but I can't help but feel like companies need to take care of their existing artists before worrying about debuting more. It's like Pledis had grand designs for all these artists but couldn't hold up under the weight of seeing them all to fruition.

    ReplyDelete
  109. good! I hope all of them leave one by one. pledis is a mess
they always leave their groups halfway. it's like just when they're about to become big or even bigger they get bored and start something new

    ReplyDelete
  110. I feel so bad for NU'EST. The potential they had was unreal...

    ReplyDelete
  111. Adwina OltarianiJune 3, 2015 at 7:08 AM

cant blame her. She's kinda being put on the shelf by the company..

    ReplyDelete
