Elementary student fans are useless?

Article: The downside of being a popular idol star among elementary school students

Source: Sports Donga via Naver

Article talks about how groups like B2ST, B1A4, and NCia are super popular among elementary school students but points out that they really don't have anything to gain from it in the end. Although it may seem like they're popular as idols, their fans are often too young to translate that popularity into purchasing power (no concert sales, fan merchandise, etc). The only upside to it is that they will eventually mature in adult consumers in the future.

Adult fans also do not want their bias groups being known for their popularity with elementary school students and have started online campaigns to 'erase the image'.

The Wonder Girls was used as a group that used that fandom age to their benefit by targeting the 'tween generation' in America and landing shows on Teen Nick and attending the Kids Choice Awards.

1. [+2,817, -156] I don't like how the article makes it seem like fans are only useful for their money

2. [+2,319, -29] Elementary school students certainly are fans... but they also change their minds a lot and lack the consumer power that older fans have..

3. [+1,948, -102] Being popular with elementary school students is really pointless

4. [+1,528, -103] Being popular with elementary school students is really pointless

5. [+267, -2] As someone who was a fan when I was in elementary school, the article's honestly right. They rarely buy albums, maybe once in a blue moon, and change their minds so fast. Elementary school student fans also are the cause of a lot of fanwars and ruining the artist's image ㅋㅋㅋ I can understand why the adult fans wouldn't like them.

6. [+249, -3] Those kids will just hop fandoms to the next idol group that debuts

7. [+184, -3] Back when there were only a few idol groups like TVXQ and Big Bang, it wasn't so much of an issue.. but now when there are so many new idol debuts every month, people can change their minds just as quickly. And songs are all about what's trending so it's not something that kids should be blamed for.

8. [+138, -2] Nevermind the fact that they have no monetary value, I hate seeing little kids on YouTube running around with their (bias name)Oppa♥ as their nicknames and writing hateful crap everywhere

9. [+62, -3] Money isn't the only issue with young fans, it's that they change their minds a lot. They download music illegally, have no respect for copyright, use images illegally on Kakao Story, start fanwars everywhere, and also have the strongest delusion that their oppas are their boyfriends. Once your fandom gets a bunch of elementary school students, you lose all control.

10. [+48, -2] I'd rather one ajumma fan than 100 elementary fans
