College student Lee (25) recently searched for internet lectures to study up on his English. He was met with a surprise when he found that most the ads for English internet tutors looked very much like female idol pictorials. "The ads only focused on the looks of the teachers and it caught me off guard with how much skin was exposed. It didn't look important at all to them what type of lecture they would be teaching you."

Recently, internet lecture sites with beautiful teachers showing excessive skin has been a controversial topic. One internet lecture site has their tutors dressed up in idol singer outfits or 'goddess concept' outfits to draw in more students. When investigated, it was found that the most important part of the resume for teacher applicants was their looks. The company said, "Because the lectures are all taught online, a woman who is confident in how she looks is important for looking good on camera."

Applicants must submit three photos with her resume that closely resemble how she looks in real life. The second part of the application process is a camera test and an age limit to 20-30 years old.

One recently deleted internet lecture site was reported for having their female teachers teach in excessively pornographic outfits and actions.

The phenomenon is now becoming an offline trend, with internet sites even running academies that favor beautiful female teachers.

One foreign language academy put out ads looking for teachers who specifically "must be pretty". In busy Seoul filled with academies from street to street, one academy with a huge ad picture of their female teacher stands out.

Female college student Kim Hyo Sun (24) had to say, "(Seeing the ads) makes me wonder if they're teaching with their faces and it makes me trust the quality of the lecture less." Another said, "I've noticed the trend of teachers needing to be pretty but I don't understand why how a face looks is so important when you're going there to study."

2. [+886, -12] ㅋㅋ But once you actually apply for a lecture and go in, you don't get the face they advertised ㅋㅋ I've read a lot of reviews from people who felt that they got scammed

3. [+42, -2] Soon teachers will lecture in bikinis

4. [+36, -4] I picked up one of these ads and went to take a lecture that advertised a pretty teacher... I never once saw that pretty teacher all month long and was taught instead by someone who looked similar to her.

5. [+35, -4] Might as well teach naked at this point. I'm sure they'll make tons of money off of that.

6. [+32, -3] Ugh, this obsession with looks in our society ㅋㅋ Why even go study at academies if you're looking to see a pretty face ㅋㅋ A teacher should only be responsible for giving good lectures

7. [+25, -8] I feel bad for women. They can't even get jobs if they're not pretty.

8. [+25, -1] I doubt anyone who actually falls for these ads care about studying well in the first place ㅋㅋ

9. [+12, -1] I received a discount on one of these so I went to take a listen and quit after one lecture. Not because the teacher was ugly but because the quality of the lecture was so bad...

10. [+9, -3] In a foreign country, having a "must be pretty" rule for job applicants would probably be lawsuit-worthy
