Zhou Mi talked about the negative aspects of safety in China by sharing a story of how his mother was scammed. "I used to think our country was really safe when I was younger but there've been so many scams happening around me lately... It happened to my mother once. When my mother was at the airport, some bad person sprayed something at her face. She wouldn't pick up my calls after either until five hours later. After she was sprayed in the face, the person had made her do everything asked and she ended up being scammed out of 10 million won in the span of an hour. Overall, China's not a dangerous country but you do have to be careful."

Zhang Yuan then said, "There are a lot of people from China watching this show right now", which led Zhou Mi to laugh and say, "Ah, I love China!"

Zhou Mi then took to his Weibo to clarify that he had not meant to harm China's image. "'Abnormal Summit' is a Korean show. I was not able to explain my story in detail because of my lack of Korean skills but I had no intention to bring harm to China's image. I am once again deeply reflection. What is going around on the internet is distorted. I feel very proud to have starred on a Korean show as a Chinese person. I would once again like to apologize."
