Netizens believe that the movie was racist against Koreans as a whole with lines like, "Let's go to a country that doesn't eat dog meat" and "Let's escape by swimming through the Sea of Japan". Lead actor Randall Park's pathetic Korean is also being criticized for his lines with improper grammar and pronunciation.

Netizens raised suspicions as to whether the movie is trying to stir up controversy over the issues surrounding Dokdo and the naming dispute between the Sea of Japan and the East Sea.

1. [+6,961, -120] Koreans need to stop claiming Dokdo is ours and actually start to do something about it

2. [+5,065, -636] The two Koreas may be separated now but we're ultimately the same people so it pisses me off that the movie is putting Koreans down like that

3. [+3,294, -290] Saw Jong Un crying in the movie, I'd love to see that happen in real life

4. [+2,527, -229] Jong Un should be grateful, the actor portraying him in the movie is way more handsome than he is in real life

5. [+1,000, -32] I don't know why the movie put down Koreans as a whole when they're mocking North Korea. I don't care that they mock Kim Jong Un but why touch South Korea?? And why did they even mention dog meat??? Do they really think we eat dog meat every single meal of the day??? And the movie is obviously stupid for calling Dokdo the Sea of Japan..

6. [+785, -37] Quite obvious that Sony put down Koreans as a whole ㅡㅡ This pisses me off

7. [+715, -29] We'll be the ones mocking North Korea, we'll be the ones mocking Kim Jong Un, the rest of you can screw off.

8. [+679, -59] Can never trust America.

9. [+630, -29] Fail Sony Fail Sony

10. [+569, -8] I don't even care about the mockery of Kim Jong Un anymore, I care that they called the East Sea the Sea of Japan and that's a bigger issue...
