Article: ZICO's 'Tough Cookie'... 19+ rated ruthless rapping

Source: X Sports News via Naver

1. [+2,126, -306] It's amazing, game over ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ He's who you would call a rapper who is an idol

2. [+1,501, -225] Nobody can touch Zico~

3. [+1,128, -193] It's daebak, very cool

4. [+1,025, -191] It's great!! Tough Cookie, hit daebak

5. [+384, -104] Honestly, judging on rap alone, Zico >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> GD

6. [+287, -37] Come on, Zico, get up on the charts so we don't have to see MC Mong up there

7. [+267, -18] Funny watching him fight over the kkujjupujju aegyo with Song Minho ㅋㅋ

8. [+266, -26] Job: rapper, side job: idol ㅋㅋ

9. [+271, -32] He's of another class.;;;; idols can't even compare to him, he's at the top even among fellow rappers..

10. [+176, -30] Bobby's definitely good but he's not better than Zico. If Zico had been on Show Me the Money, I don't guarantee that he would've won but he definitely would've made it more difficult for Bobby to win

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  15. It was not THAT wow imo

    ReplyDelete
  16. It was literally offensive in every way it could

  17. oh boy- doing it as you speak

    ReplyDelete
  18. So tryhard almost on the level my bias did.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Such a pos. What's worse is that the's totally unapologetic about it. People have called him out before and he continues to say offensive shit. He just doesn't care.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  21. The song and MV were trash. Zico's got talent, no doubt about it, but he has to be more careful with how he conveys it.

    ReplyDelete
  22. he is an ignorant cup cake...

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hmm? Why u bringing up GD and Bobby
Theyre different.... Let's not start this

    ReplyDelete
  24. aside from appropriating black culture and using the n word multiple times, this time around he used the word f*ggot in his song and also wore the confederate flag.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  26. zico definitely has talent, but did these knetizens even listen to the lyrics of the song

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  31. Always gotta bring up someone from YG to make someone relevant wow ok.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yes also ignorance

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'm a BBC but I can't even defend this.
I'm extremely disappointed because he is a LEADER. Yet, he acts ignorantly, and now Block B's name is even more tainted - just as they proved themselves with their success with HER. I feel sorry for the other members in Block B who are getting dragged down because of his actions. He needs to be educated and apologise.

    ReplyDelete
  34. i like his rap very much but nope though cookie is just a no-no.. and yeah he's a better rapper than GD.. and yeah he's better than Bobby, obviously.. had to agree on that even though I'm a Bobby stan.. Bobby is good but need to improve more and i hope and i wish he'll keep improving <33 Zico is hella talented.. the experience from his underground time must have help him a lot..

    ReplyDelete
  35. the mv is not my liking..but the song..i still love it since i hear it first from 4things show..but that only first part..the rest when he said that inappropriate word...i just can only sighed...
zico is not that fluent in english but he keep on sprouting things from what he heard..thinking its cool...i just...

    ReplyDelete
  36. Bobby is actually a very young rookie in rapping field to compare him to Ziaco.. it's an honor lol

    ReplyDelete
  37. it's kind of sad how they think ~real hip hop~ is this caricature. it's not.

    ReplyDelete
  38. He even had the nerve to appropriate Black Culture while wearing a fucking confederate flag.

    ReplyDelete
  39. He was trying to be all cool with the lyrics...at the end of the day, he is just an idol rapper. He screw up badly with this new song.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I really like Zico, but I just can't with any of this. It's such a big mess everywhere. :\

    ReplyDelete
  41. he's such a damn disappointment- ugh, damn this guy

    ReplyDelete
  42. The little interest I had on him vanished as soon as I watched that video. As part of the LGBT community I don't care how much talent people might think he has I'm tired of him making these remarks and how unapologetic he is about it.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Okay. Clearly they don't know or don't care. If it makes headlines over here in the states they'd care. It only matters if it makes them look bad.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Netizens don't seem to find anything wrong? I'm not a person who points out mistakes but I really can't be neutral this time. The MV and lyrics shows what is wrong, you really can't be ignorant in this situation.

    ReplyDelete
  45. was enjoying the music at first but then I actually got to the part in zico's mv where he says faggot and then I was so physically disgusted I had to stop. Doubt I missed much

    ReplyDelete
  46. Yes, I agree. But then again, not everyone knows the real meaning behind faggot in the east. I mean, it's not common knowledge unlike in the west since English isn't their first language. So that must be the reason why. (Although they should def know it's a derogatory term, but not that it's a homophobic slur.)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Wendy impersonation of black people mAde it to the news like 2 days ago they are keeping a close watch on kpop now so I am pretty sure it will make headlines soon

    ReplyDelete
  48. Just wasted about 3 minutes on that crap- he ruins BlockB for me.

    ReplyDelete
  49. What's with his song? I saw Tablo retweeted someone's screencap and I think it's this lyric but he deleted it. Also someone warned Tablo because the screencap is dangerous (?)

    ReplyDelete
  50. I really love comments form both K-netz and I-netz
    LOL entertaining

    ReplyDelete
  51. It's a must nowadays.

    ReplyDelete
  52. You know, I gave Zico a lot of passes in the past because sometimes decent people fuck up and as long as they acknowledge it and try to remedy the situation, I can be understanding of it. (i.e - When he used the N-word but later removed it from his song). But the fact that this is now his 3rd strike makes me so done with him. Shame. He's a talented guy but saying that he's just trying to be 'hip hop' is no justification for this. If he doesn't understand the history of a word or symbol, HE SHOULDN'T USE IT. Can you imagine the uproar had he used the rising sun flag? It's the same shit. And does he really think using a gay slur is giving him credibility as a rapper or some shit? No. It makes him look like he can't do anything but use low blows to get 'street cred'.
smh, he really fucked up beyond repair at this point.

    ReplyDelete
  53. He thinks he's cool with his english lyrics. Yes, Zico, you're talented, even more talented than my ultimate bias GD...but please, just please refrain the use of inappropriate english words that you don't even understand its meaning....

Please start to learn english like I'm learning too!

    ReplyDelete
  54. the rest of the lyrics is pretty good except for that one line imho

    ReplyDelete
  55. everything else is sideeye but i doubt he knows about he confederate flag

    ReplyDelete
  56. Yes and no. If I-fans were to watch a K video with no subtitles that has some profanity and slurs we'd be clueless too. Please stop.

    ReplyDelete
  57. All the *issues* aside, I'm surprised they liked it.
I found the mv and song really just bleh. I was expecting something better tbh.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Yes I agree it Is not that hard to try to understand each other culture you know google it they will have to start being more careful since now kpop is becoming bigger so people will not over look such things like that as before

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  66. Yeah, honestly the song is decent minus that controversial line. However, I can't enjoy it anymore because of the music video and for that homophobic slur.

It's so shameful because when I first saw and heard the preview in 4 Things Show, it was promising. Zico fucked himself over. He fucked his whole group over, again - to the international fandom, at least. It's just a matter of time before Knetz catch onto it.

  70. I've been a BBC for three years and Zico has been my ultimate bias, but I'm done defending him. I put up with him saying "nigga" in his song covers and him putting Taeil in an uncomfortable situation regarding his sexuality, but I'm so done with him.

As of today I'm no longer a Zico fan. He is a talented rapper and his mixtapes prove that, but when he writes shit like this, it just leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Make a bigger name for yourself first before writing a song that shits on other rappers in the industry.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Maybe it's because I'm not from the states but i don't really see the huge deal with him using "the f word", I mean, personally it's just a word a lot of people, especially teens throw around with their friends. Zico probably didn't mean anything offensive and is probs doing the cringeworthy throw-all-the-bad-words-I-know-into-my-song-so-I-look-cool thing so many k-idols do. Tablo already sub-tweeted that he doesnt agree with Zico. I hope Tablo blasts his ass. But he's too classy for that shit. And that stylist who made him wear that jacket needs to get fired. The MV director also needs to get fired. Woo Jiho when will he stop being an ignorant fool and continue to do shitty stuff?

    ReplyDelete

We've put up with a lot of his shit, thinking that he'll actually try to be more careful in the future. But this is like the 529487247th time he's messed up and proven to haters that he is the douche bag they think he is. ReplyDelete
  146. I in no way shape of form condone the use off homophobic slurs. However, I feel that people need to realize that you have to know the history of North America to understand the significance of the confederate flag. I find it highly unlikely that South Koreans even know what it stands for. That's just like me not knowing the significance of the imperial Japanese flag. I was not aware until I saw negative reactions from Koreans. I am not well versed in South Koreas history and I'm sure they're not well versed in ours. I don't blame Zico or his coordi, I blame the person who made the jacket.

  159. its from 'i'm still fly' from drake, the original lyric had the 'n' word and zico keep it on his mixtape

  160. The music video is a mess. I've been dreading it since the teaser came out earlier this week. I'm a fan of his, I'm still a BBC but I won't defend him for this. I can't defend him because he's really messed up this time.

  161. Um, not to intrude here but the mun was calling the YG rappers tryhards. They didn't say anything about "precious YG".

  162. I hadn't heard that he put it back in so that's really disappointing to hear. smh. Shame that he's shooting himself in the foot and burying his talent like this.

  163. Don't watch it. Its a waste of your time.

  164. i'm from korea and i'll let you know that most people around me don't know what f*gg*t means. it took me long to know too. language barrier :/

    ReplyDelete
  165. If that's what you think, then okay. Who am I to try and argue with you biased delulus?

    ReplyDelete
  166. Don't even.
Rape jokes are never funny. I understand that that was his friend, and he was obviously not serious in any way, but a joke about rape is a joke about rape.

  167. ok well let's just start at where the word came from. f*ggot originally means a bundle of sticks, usually used for fuel for fire. people used it to refer to gays because they would burn homosexuals alive. if that's not enough for you to not use the word then honestly you're scum.

  168. yup the kids in my school, or just my city in general tend to be very ignorant and say the stupidest stuff because they think its hilarious. they're always calling each other the n word, making borderline racist jokes, etc. i dont think the necessarily mean harm or have malicious intent when they do some of the stuff they do but it still isn't right (as seen with wendy) it also doesn't help that the asian population at my school is so large that they dont tend to divulge with other groups and just stay in their own little circle. i've always said that once we headed out for college that they'd be in for a surprise because not all of the country is as homogenized as my school. but then again its america and racism is pretty much everywhere

  169. How does eplizo's conduct even suggest that he/she is mad? She's just pointing out the truth. It's obvious he did wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  170. Yeah. It was a vine or insta video, or smth.

  171. A confederate flag?? REALLY? Why do Kpop artists feel entitled to shit that isn't theirs?? Particularly shit with a ton of baggage. The confederate flag's usage is frowned down here in the US (imo it shouldn't be used at all--it represents a truly disgusting period of history). Who the hell is Zico to be using it? It's this kind of cultural blindness that icks me out about Kpop.

    ReplyDelete
  172. he said f*ggot and also wore the confederate flag while appropriating african american culture. aside from just this MV he's also said the n word maaaaaany times

    ReplyDelete
  173. being racist and homophobic is a talent. yeah of course. hats off to all the ignorants ass hats out there.

    ReplyDelete
  174. The fuck you mean stay mad. This man has been told NUMEROUS times that using the n word is wrong. Got a letter sent to his company telling him what he was doing was wrong. He apologized but later put it back in his song. Now he says disrespectful shit towards the lgbt and is wearing a confederate flag, appropriating black culture and all you can say is stay mad?

  175. Preach. Ugly personality also

  176. What did you expect? This is wannabe culture at its finest. Showing that hiphop is an image to them and not a way of life.

I don't understand seeing as EPIK HIGH + Beenzino + Verbal + BI + Bobby + Mino just shat on EVERYONE with Born Hater...but didn't have to fail twerk, objectify women, use the Confederate Flag, use homophobic slurs....

Zico this is a MAJOR fail. Do better.

    ReplyDelete
  177. Honestly, freaking JAY PARK was on that set. I wonder why he didn't call Zico out, unless he's equally as ignorant as him? Ugh.

    ReplyDelete
  178. I doubt it will do anything to his, either, honestly.
I think that those people and Zico are just as wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  179. ...Like how hard would it have been for them to reverse image search the Confederate flag just to make sure it checks out? We shouldn't pretend all K-artists are innocent babies stuck in Antarctica with no internet connection.

  180. Wow.. what a rude bastard
