Article: [Enterbiz] SM-YG-JYP, change the main faces! What's rushing them?

Source: Sports Chosun via Nate

Article talks about how insiders have been noticing that SM, YG, and JYP seem to be in a rush for change and finding the next new thing to represent their company for the next decade.

The article says that SNSD, TVXQ, Super Junior (for SM), Big Bang and 2NE1 (for YG), and 2PM and Suzy (for JYP) are all still doing well but the problem is that they're so successful that nobody really anticipates anything more from them anymore. Surprising news from them would be if they DIDN'T do well, putting the three companies in a rush to find fresh new talent to continue the trend.

The article thinks that SM is investing in f(x) and EXO, YG in their new boy and girl group debuts, and JYP in Sunmi's solo.

-

1. [+330, -66] YG and SM still have idol groups who are still considered successful but JYP will never be able to bring in a group to stand up to their level. Suzy is only worthy as Suzy alone, miss A has been doing worse than A Pink lately. Wonder Girls are beat out by 2NE1 and even f(x)...

2. [+264, -90] SM has f(x) and EXO... YG's Kang Seung Yoon and JYP's Sunmi are a bit weak by comparison...

3. [+145, -28] The article may say that the current groups are stagnant no matter how well they do, but that doesn't change the fact that they still have to work really hard because of all the haters they have

-

Source: Naver

1. [+317, -9] Instead of thinking on improving their current artists, these companies are of the mindset of throwing out anyone who doesn't make money and debuting new faces.

2. [+353, -81] I really don't understand why EXO's popular. 'Growl' is okay but 'Wolf' just sounds like it was written by an idiot. They also have too many members, I have no idea who any of them are. Their skills are about as average as SM gets as well.

3. [+239, -4] tl;dr throw them out if they don't make money!

4. [+255, -30] JYP's going to go bankrupt...

5. [+243, -19] Honestly, JYP's on a downfall... No one in Korea even anticipates their artists anymore.

6. [+206, -19] YG is sh*t without Big Bang ㅋ Even their rookies are all riding on Big Bang. Big Bang really did so much for the company.

7. [+183, -7] I think the one who's most nervous out of all of this is Yang CEO. YG seems like they have a lot of artists but their main source of income are really only Big Bang and Psy and Psy has a completely different contract from Big Bang. Without Big Bang, YG is over.

8. [+193, -18] Regardless, there isn't a group that can overtake SNSD, Wonder Girls, 2NE1, Super Junior, Big Bang, and TVXQ yet

9. [+165, -7] I listened to an SES album and was so surprised to hear that SM used to have a period where they made high quality music...

10. [+176, -29] Please, stop with the idols!!! There are only idols in the music charts!! My mp3 hasn't been updated in years from its ballads because of them ㅡㅡ

BUT they (SJ, TVXQ, SNSD, Bigbang, 2ne1) alrdy huv legit fandoms to protect fr haters.

True. And maybe because they are afraid the smaller companies will overtake them...

    ReplyDelete
  6. TBH, KPOP needs a entirely new change that doesn't primarily involve 850138503580 debuts a year.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Miss A could have been (still can be) amazing if handled correctly. Never not in awe of the pure debut perfection that was Good Girl Bad Girl.

  8. "SM investing in f(x)" LMFAO OMG

    2. [+353, -81] I really don't understand why EXO's popular. 'Growl' is okay but 'Wolf' just sounds like it was written by an idiot. They also have too many members, I have no idea who any of them are. Their skills are about as average as SM gets as well.

shots fired omg what is the hype idgi the only decent one is kai imo and maybe because he looks like taemin but nothing else.

    8. [+193, -18] Regardless, there isn't a group that can overtake SNSD, Wonder Girls, 2NE1, Super Junior, Big Bang, and TVXQ yet

there probably is but you're all stuck in the past and not letting it happen!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  9. SM has been putting out quality songs for f(x) and EXO's (aside from Wolf, can we forget that ever happened) albums this time round though..

    ReplyDelete
  10. So far I believe SM is doing the best with EXO. EXO has strong fandoms even before debut and it's still growing. fangrils=$$
I like their song GROWL too!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Goodluck to JYP tho..... Poor suzy working like a dog to save their company

    ReplyDelete
  12. how is SM investing in f(x) exactly... lol

    ReplyDelete
  13. EXO is the new generation that will take over kpop in the future... :)

    ReplyDelete
  14. WonderGrils will count if it's bck in 2009 but now they can't even beat f(X)

    ReplyDelete
  15. [+165, -7] I listened to an SES album and was so surprised to hear that SM used to have a period where they made high quality music...

They also use to have quality music videos! Stop it with the boxed rooms SM!

    ReplyDelete
  16. "worse than apink" the fuck? apink are doing fine.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I think SM still can do well in future, so is YG but for JYP.. Idek.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I know. SM always b.s with boy groups. They never really promote f(x) to the max and now they r bck to their solo proj.
    Sad truth.

    ReplyDelete
  19. 7. [+183, -7] I think the one who's most nervous out of all of this is Yang CEO. YG seems like they have a lot of artists but their main source of income are really only Big Bang and Psy and Psy has a completely different contract from Big Bang. Without Big Bang, YG is over.

so much truth. in 2011, even though they were only active for half the year, they were responsible for ~60% of YG's profit. just last year, Big Bang brought in around 70% of YG's profit. YG better treasure and take care of Big Bang.

    ReplyDelete
  20. shinee the eternally forgotten middle child

    ReplyDelete
  21. Umm excuse me memorizing their names isnt like counting 123... And excuse me again cuz whoever that composer is he surely made a one crap song.

    ReplyDelete
  22. 9. [+165, -7] I listened to an SES album and was so surprised to hear that SM used to have a period where they made high quality music...

you should listen to pink tape dude

    ReplyDelete
  23. Oh korea still consider 2PM as big?

    ReplyDelete
  24. I just can't say goodbye to this groups...i'm not ready yet(

    ReplyDelete
  25. 6. [+206, -19] YG is sh*t without Big Bang ㅋ Even their rookies are
all riding on Big Bang. Big Bang really did so much for the company.

Don't forget abt PSY, PSY brings in lots of profits and fame to the company.

    ReplyDelete
  26. irk f(x) are being treated like csjh except maybe a bit better.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Alternatively you can think it as a compliment since they don't think of Shinee as 'big and boring'.

    ReplyDelete
  28. yg's new girl group is a mess TBH.

    ReplyDelete
  29. "too many member"? LOL you're so weird just get out of the Internet! :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. the reasont hey mention suju, snsd tvxq i becuz they are big, the reason they mention f(x) and exo is becuz they are still growing, shinee are doing well and they are not like suju snsd but they also diff than f(x) and exo, f(x) still need more attention from sm and exos till rookie thats why they didnt mention shinee, dont worry shinee do good in both digital and physical i believed

    ReplyDelete
  31. investing in f(x)?! like somewhere in parallel universe

    ReplyDelete
  32. what? they haven't even debuted ._.

    ReplyDelete
  33. in a way that they get comebck for once a year.

    ReplyDelete
  34. honestly almost all of them are so talented, JYP's wasting them

    ReplyDelete
  35. Now that the idol trend is dying they should start focusing on solo artists, preferably iconic female divas

    ReplyDelete
  36. The whole album quality is not that bad comparing to last yr. SM's title songs r juz unique.

    ReplyDelete
  37. at least they still get the best music out of sm, but still :(

    ReplyDelete
  38. "Don't worry,gaiss... we still have EXO, f(x) and heeyy we will have Infinite, too! Bye!"
    -SM

    oh sorry, my bad joke

    ReplyDelete
  39. I wonder how far they would go...

    ReplyDelete
  40. funny thing is these groups shine the most during 2007-2009 era, golden years of k-pop when hallyu trends started invading worldwide. good ol' times...

    ReplyDelete
  41. N he's still not doing anything to promote in a better way or anything to his artist.
    I think he's retiring soon.

    ReplyDelete
  42. It's 'cause they straddle the idol generations. They're too new to be considered as veterans like DBSK, Big Bang, Super Junior, and SNSD, but too veteran to lump in with Infinite, Beast, f(x), etc.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I don't see what's new about this article,,
companies are always investing in creating a new cash cow!

and what's happening JYP .. I kinda do like their new stuff but for some reason they're really not getting recognition .. are they going wrong with their marketing? anyways they need to pull it together soon

    ReplyDelete
  44. Yes. And they will never be ousted in their reigns/positions no matter how many groups there will be unless they disband.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I don't think SM has much to worry about, they've been very successful so far this year (I'm majorly surprised, in a good way, that EXO is currently 3rd on Melon) but JYP has been on the decline for a while now and YG's groups aren't doing as well as they normally are. Hopefully YG and JYP pick up their game and fix their management problems.

    ReplyDelete
  46. because of the contracts? maybe they thought it's just a back-up plan(I frgt the formal term) in case their main faces dont want to re-new their contracts with the companies.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Finding what used to be lost. SM has pretty stable groups for a few more years ahead. YG needs to start debuting the new boy and girl groups, I feel that it is a little too late. JYP needs a miracle.

    ReplyDelete
  48. The golden time for those groups! Timing is really important. that's when Kpop starts to get so popular.

    ReplyDelete
  49. yeah ONCE a year with crappy in the box videos and close up shots of them touching random crap

    ReplyDelete
  50. SHINee's got one of the best album this year by far imo. so much repacks in a year tho :x

    ReplyDelete
  51. For SM, I feel that SM is putting f(x) & EXO out together. And SM is like OK, you 2 go outside and fight it out, the one remaining on top (or does the best), daddy will give you my full support.

Most people (even fans) knows that f(x) is the least promoted group. It's like they don't even care about f(x).

But i mean think about it, of course they would want to find the "next big thing." They all know that they won't be on top forever

    ReplyDelete
  52. 10. [+176, -29] Please, stop with the idols!!! There are only idols in
the music charts!! My mp3 hasn't been updated in years from its ballads
    because of them ㅡㅡ

maybe because the idols that top the charts have big fandoms that buys their music and support them..of course other artists tops too because of the songs' public recognition ex busker busker cherry blossom ending..so I don't think its the idols' fault

    ReplyDelete
  53. I can't even call JYP as part of the BIG3

    ReplyDelete
  54. Agree. They were competing with 2ne1 before but Idk why JYP had never put any efforts to bring them back as a group...

    ReplyDelete
  55. THIS IS AN INSULT FOR US LOL investing in what way??? excuse me, netizens lmao

    ReplyDelete
  56. As of right now no their isn't. Which is why the Netizen added yet. It will certainly happen of course, but not anytime soon. In a few more years yes but now, no

    ReplyDelete
  57. They do well for themselves but they're not in the ~big leagues~ like DBSK, Super Junior, and SNSD. Nor are they the babies like f(x) and EXO.

    ReplyDelete
  58. They're coming back lol after Sunmi's promotions, it's been confirmed... on Twitter lmao.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I $M case they are most probably scared of groups leaving.
SNSD contract expires in 2014. Most probably they will stay in sm but for sure sm would be like What if we lose most popular girl group in Korea. TVXQ already achieved what is there to achieve and army is approaching for them... and SM knows exo,SHINee,fx arent making money as SNSD,TVXQ,SJ no matter how much they are promoting them and making them release 3 albums like shinee. I like shinee but when it comes to earning they are far from sj snsd tvxq

    ReplyDelete
  60. My CSJH fan of a self would like to tell you that f(x) are treated like queens compared to how CSJH has been treated as a group.

    ReplyDelete
  61. its okay, f(x) is the eternally step daughter *SOBS* *HUGGING NAMELESS &SHAWOLS*

    ReplyDelete
  62. I think they're also afraid that the idol music wont be this popular forever

    ReplyDelete
  63. "the problem is that they're so successful that nobody really anticipates anything more from them anymore. " LOL

The problem is the 3 companies think the fans would buy everything as long as is from their favorite idols, so JYP, SM, YG became lazy...

    ReplyDelete
  64. not really. Psy contract with YG is totally different with YG idol groups. Psy makes lots of money but he keeps like 70-80% of the money to himself.

    ReplyDelete
  65. My only question, why they only puts SNSD pict While there's big 3 in title? No complaint though...

    ReplyDelete
  66. really, I've always thought they're the least promoted idol group of SM..except the grace and others..the never had a big concert and their fans are nameless..

    ReplyDelete
  67. i'm assume the commenter was saying that since Miss A are the sunbaes, 'they're doing worse' than apink who are their hoobaes.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Yeah, ikr. They're the worst when it comes to f(x) and CSJH. Those two has so much potential if promoted right. Ugh.

Even with SNSD, they only paying attention to them when they hit big with Gee and now just coasting their fame. IGAB only had short promo and not even a repack like SM's male artists

    ReplyDelete
  69. yeah they're still treated better than csjh, but still treated like shit compared to all the other active groups

    ReplyDelete
  70. waaah, shinees huge! they're the top group in my country... idk bout the rest of the world.. sorry new to kpop :p

    ReplyDelete
  71. I am pretty sure groups under SM won't leave. They get paid well after JYJ left so renewing contracts with SNSD won't be an issue. Yeah, TVXQ yunho is going to army soon. I hope Changmin will come out as solo

    ReplyDelete
  72. I can't believe they named f(x)'s fanclub F(lover) and it's apparently pronounced as Flower ಠ_ಠ

    ReplyDelete
  73. it's not an official name, just fanmade

    ReplyDelete
  74. H.O.T's videos are still some of the best music videos SM ever made. "We are the Future" alone shits on 75% of SM videos.

    ReplyDelete
  75. How can they beat them if they are not active? Are you for real?

    ReplyDelete
  76. "nameless namless no one who care about me"

    ReplyDelete
  77. to many line up changes, things being postponed and yg showing us the member with the least amount of talent and shoving her down our throats which makes blackjacks and vip's get pissed = not going to support the group= rough debut= lower chance of success....not a good equation......at all.

    ReplyDelete
  78. "[+206, -19] YG is sh*t without Big Bang ㅋ Even their rookies are all riding on Big Bang. Big Bang really did so much for the company."

so true, YG is big because of BIGBANG. Before BIGBANG's sucess with Lies, YG was nugu. And YG won't be able to have a group on BIGBANG level in the future. 2NE1 is not sucessfull in Japan sadly and they seems to lose fans in Korea

    ReplyDelete
  79. Pfft, YG should be changed to BBE. Big Bang Entertainment. For Big Bang as a group and for their fans bringing in all that profit may seem like a positive thing but in actuality it isn't. That's really fuckin' pitiful that they have other musical acts yet only 1 makes up most of the entire percentage of profit with PSY trolling along because of the GS craze.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Oh JYP. How ye have fallen. The netizens on Naver are being really reductive. Esp. #10. Like child, please. Plenty of non-ballad, non-idol artists do superbly well on music charts.

[+353, -81] I really don't understand why EXO's popular. 'Growl' is okay but 'Wolf' just sounds like it was written by an idiot. They also have too many members, I have no idea who any of them are. Their skills are about as average as SM gets as well.
I wonder what knets are going to say once Exo revert back to being K/M counterparts.

    ReplyDelete
  81. electric shock won over like this last year

    ReplyDelete
  82. Sigh~ I think I'll lose it as an f(x) fans will if they don't get a fandom name before Exo.

    ReplyDelete
  83. What if SM know about that fanmade name and decide to give it as Official one?

    ReplyDelete
  84. aff(x)ion is the fanmade name though. I've heard that f(lover) is the official one.

    ReplyDelete
  85. that's not even official yet

    ReplyDelete
  86. a new fanmade name pops up every few months and sm did nothing about it, so...

    ReplyDelete
  87. But still the amount PSY earns is a lot even though it's only 10-20% and it raises YG stock prices. And of course BB brings in the most only with Japan concerts. BB, TVXQ, SJ huv super big fanbase in japan. NO Kidding at all.

    ReplyDelete
  88. SM still hasn't given f(x) fans an official fanclub name >.<

    ReplyDelete
  89. don't be..SHINee will keep on growing as years pass..we'll grow with them ^^

    ReplyDelete
  90. That and people are losing interest cause their debut is taking so long.

    ReplyDelete
  91. LAST YEAR? Am I missing something? I don't remember WG promoting anything since "LIKE MONEY".

    ReplyDelete
  92. I want a Changmin solo but I don't think SM will give it to him :( he'll probably just continue being active on variety shows ._.

    ReplyDelete
  93. it's time for you to lose it.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Yeah but they r coming bck in this winter as a whole group according to Tiffany's interview. so i m excited.

    ReplyDelete
  95. "The article thinks that SM is investing in f(x)..."

Wait, what? SM didn't even promote them well and EXO overtaking their promotions. Also, there still no fanclub name for their fans for almost 4 years now.

    ReplyDelete
  96. what's "like money"? I just know of Like This..well this is awkward :v

    ReplyDelete
  97. i want to change my self as hopeless ahahhaahha ohai what fandom are u? oh you know , hopeless okaibai .

    ReplyDelete
  98. deleted that part oops

but yeah i get everyone is still clinging onto those groups but there are so many to chose now (though some of them are cheap imitations of those already existing ones) and the top ones from the "big 3" aren't delivering anything exiting anymore they just release whatever, it's not as strategized and carefully put together as when they were nobodies so it's all boring now.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I want them to enlist together but I also want Changmin to have a ballad solo (an RnB Yunho solo would also be awesome) dilemma!!

    ReplyDelete
  100. THANK Y O U !!! when I read that comment I was thinking about f(x)'s album Pink Tape. I love almost every song on it. RPPP was alright but the rest of the songs on it like Airplane, Goodbye Summer, No More, Toy...& etc are just on a different level. Very high quality music. I think that even those that are not fans of f(x) should give the album a chance.

    ReplyDelete
  101. omg thank god but on the other hand they still don't have a fanclub name lol

    ReplyDelete
  102. SES's music was just as idol-y back then as contemporary idol music is today tbh. IDG where knetz are pulling these opinions from lol.

    ReplyDelete
  103. WG's popularity is not the same anymore. Even they r not active rn, look at their last combck which is LIKE THIS.
They r not wht they used to be anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  104. It would be interesting if SNSD as a whole, or even 1 member decided not to renew. Hmm, how would all that play out I ponder.

    ReplyDelete
  105. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4asSQLmGmU

    ReplyDelete
  106. I still think f(an) is the cutest name haha.

    ReplyDelete
  107. not all blackjacks and vips.
what most yg fans get pissed about are the comeback/debut dates..
'he needs a calender' has officially became a inside joke between all kpop fans lol

    ReplyDelete
  108. i don't think they will either, they have shares isn't it? Not trying to say that they will do it for money, but SM is part of their responsible too.

    ReplyDelete
  109. THIS. Pink Tape is excellent, so is EXO's album. Too bad they put "quirky" numbers as title songs so people won't bother to hear the rest of the album :/

    ReplyDelete
  110. exactly
i don't know where people get SM is investing on f(x), they don't even have an official fanclub and the only sm group to yet debut somewhere else than korea, they are pretty far behind from everyone else.

    ReplyDelete
  111. SM,YG,JYP keep on slaying though...

    ReplyDelete
  112. I heard exo's going to have one..

    ReplyDelete
  113. that girl needs a 2 month vacation in hawaii right away.

    ReplyDelete

Sadly, it's the truth. I really thought miss A could be a very popular group since their debut was a big hit. SM invests in SHINee, f(x) and EXO, YG with Kang Seung Yoon, JYP with Suzy and Sunmi's debut.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Need to prepare for more money then!!! PS: I haven't buy all their Japanese album yet...need more part-time jobs!!

    ReplyDelete
  116. If no one leaves SM in next 2-3 years they dont have to worry. The have
-Most popular girl group that brings them huge money
-TVXQ that brought them huge money with japanese tour
    -SJ that brings them money
-EXo doesnt bing them money like soshi sj tvxq but still they sell well
-shinee that are popular and fx
    -now even Infinite

While JYP has 2PM that arent that big in korea anymore and Suzy that will probably start to fall slowly soon

YG has BB and solo promos from BB. 2ne1 is on decline kinda. They are not big in Japan and in korea they only are releasing digital when real money is physical sales, their mv views arent that big anymore. YG should do smth since they are staring to fall in korea sloy. And there is psy that well is popular but ppl are getting bored

    ReplyDelete
  117. Let's just pray that F(x) will get their official fanclub name before their junior. I don't want to see fanwar because of fanclub name

    ReplyDelete
  118. They juz nid to comeback wif a retro concept lol

    ReplyDelete
  119. FYI 2PM brings more than 70% of JYPE revenue NOT Suzy. go and read jype's financial statements and learn the meaning of breadwinner

    ReplyDelete
  120. SM already secured their next big act so they don't have anything to worry about.
YG is in the process of debuting their new boy group that will hopefully do well.
And JYP...well...nothing really to say about them lol

    ReplyDelete
  121. yg's schedule was fine until gangam style happened....

    ReplyDelete
  122. "hopeless, hopeless shoot anonymous"
    f(anonymous) = SM

    ReplyDelete
  123. I don't know what will happen to YG if Big Bang members starting to enlist in the army. Well, going solo can still do well but not that much.

    ReplyDelete
  124. YG should debut his new group quickly.. After 2NE1 debuted, SM put out f(x) and EXO and SNSD's popularity also blew up big time, whereas YG still stayed where they were. And JYP idek...

    ReplyDelete
  125. Well, TVXQ!, SuJu, SNSD and SHINee are on tour. So, f(x) and EXO should take the spot light for awhile

    ReplyDelete
  126. so ironic how he said that idols are in decline (its true though) but still planning on debuting one..well he should I guess since if not then he just wasted the trainees time..

    ReplyDelete
  127. LOL!! Galaxy SUpernova, Do the cat walk r gonna b two new songs.
and also bluray japanese tour dvd, with tshirt which is like 100$ sth.

    ReplyDelete
  128. SUNMI'S SOLO CAME OUT!!!!!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UmDrsMlXXg&feature=player_embedded

    ReplyDelete
  129. Yeah, since EXO will be divided into K and M again.

    ReplyDelete
  130. "TVXQ that brought them huge money with japanese tour."

should add their Korea sales too ..
TVXQ sales for their Korean promotion is no joke too ...

    ReplyDelete
  131. I laughed when the journalist just wrote only Suzy's name and no Miss A. Poor group, always get disregarded. smh

    ReplyDelete
  132. TVXQ juz finished and seems like solo tours don't matter much for them since SM huving SM town in OCt and besides solo, they still do their individual activities regularly. I would say concerts r not difficult for them with lots of experience. Dancing and singing would b like eating for them.

    ReplyDelete

  135. "Wait, where did half the members go?" "weren't there 12 of them?"

    ReplyDelete
  136. he needs a personal organizer that comes in to the yg building and helps him tidy up his desk.

    ReplyDelete
  137. I LOVE IT! I hope Sunmi does well *~*

    ReplyDelete
  138. Not hating but I was surprised that Wonder Girls was included.

    ReplyDelete
  139. jyp? i beg to differ.....

    ReplyDelete
  140. their pay didn't change after jyj left. their contracts were just shortened

but they do get paid a lot more because kpop has grown and they can have bigger tours

    ReplyDelete
  141. In that said, let's wait for another 5+ years if the disbandment come along.

    ReplyDelete
  142. yesss i can't wait for his new girl group! especially eunbi kim~

    ReplyDelete
  143. Or an actual management team to organise the artists cause he obviously sucks at it.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Kenzie and Co. wrote Wolf. What were they thinking? Well, obviously it was for publicity. After all, we're still talking about them. I mean, I loved the perfs, but that couldn't rescue a song that was meant for the theatre stage and had no place in pop.

    ReplyDelete
  145. They're still going strong, so it will be a while.

    ReplyDelete
  146. More like SM & YG. JYP isn't on par with then anymore unfortunately ;_;

    ReplyDelete
  147. SM investing to f(x)? Lol

The sucky truth is that last year there were rumors of investors actualy wanting to give f(x) money but SM intending to use it on other non-f(x) projects (like other groups' overeas activities etc). Oniontaker was tweeting about this matter. So yeah SM definitely investing f(x) and wants to push them. When in reality SM just pushes EXO everywhere, even cockblocking f(x) comeback by EXO repackage.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Ah, I almost forgot about their Japanese tour DVD! Nah, I'm not going to buy the bluray, since my B-player die on me!

    ReplyDelete
  149. Yeah, but he has to really start debuting them now. BIGBANG, PSY and 2NE1 has greater responsibility. But he's kind of too late. There's an ocean of newly debuted idol groups. It will not change or even improve the Hallyu wave even if he debut them now. That's if only the new groups he is going to debut is really that great. That will be another story.

I agree with this w/o Big Bang Bye Bye YG..

    Except PSY

    ReplyDelete
  151. I laughed when I read that line. If anything, f(x) is the forgotten child :/

    ReplyDelete

This comment is correct about one thing: YG's main source of income is PSY & Big Bang. Moreso Big Bang because they've been with the company longer & their initial success back in 2008 is what launched the company to become one of the Big 3.

Imo, the company in the deepest shithole right now is JYP because they're seriously on the verge of going bankrupt. JYP is getting rid of a subsidiary of their company, resulting in many people getting laid off because they can no long afford it. http://www.reuters.com/finance/stocks/035900.KQ/key-developments/article/2778315

Whenever a bigger company is 'taking back' a subsidiary to 'improve managerial efficiency & financial structure' it's just fancy business-speak for 'we're fucking broke'. Their company's profits have been taking a nosedive for a while, but the slope of that dive got a lot steeper.

  153. i knw :( but wtevs...we all knw they're rite up there in terms of popularity :)

    ReplyDelete
  154. but now TVXQ doesn't promote in Korean much as they did in the past
It seems like now SM only focus TVXQ on Japan activities

    ReplyDelete
  155. Knetizen comments are almost always reductive lol.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Companies barely ever earn any money from album sales, TBH. Most of what they earn from the albums are just enough to cover the cost of releasing them, especially with how fancy albums are packaged. So yeah, a huuuuuuuuge bulk of DBSK's earnings are from their Japanese tourS.

    ReplyDelete
  157. i never thought of it like that...but tht makes a lot of sense. They're sandwiched in the middle atm.

    ReplyDelete
  158. 8. [+193, -18] Regardless, there isn't a group that can overtake SNSD, Wonder Girls, 2NE1, Super Junior, Big Bang, and TVXQ yet

That's right!! kpop experienced is the most successful period in their generation. I bet those rookie idol groups can't reach that level.

    ReplyDelete
  159. THIS..!!! but people still don't want to accept the fact and just continue being S*****... XD
maybe Suzy will be JYPE "BW" in the future when 2PM enlist for military or move out from JYPE.... but now 2PM still consider as JYPE breadwinner cos they bring 76% in JYPE... :D

    ReplyDelete
  160. I couldn't wait too, but I would wish them good luck with his 'survival' plan.

    ReplyDelete
  161. was that mean SNSD & SUJU korean tour > TVXQ korean tour sales?

    ReplyDelete
  162. he is no longer a JYP trainee. cus JYP closed his branch in LA...so,gsoul signed with another company.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Cause they're way more successful their than in Korea (and given how well they do in Korea that says a lot) but they should be releasing an album this year, especially since it's they're 10th anniversary.

    ReplyDelete
  164. it was really great!

    ReplyDelete
  165. Hallelujah. Their era is the best thing happened on Kpop.

  166. 8. [+193, -18] Regardless, there isn't a group that can overtake SNSD, Wonder Girls, 2NE1, Super Junior, Big Bang, and TVXQ yet

    ReplyDelete
  167. they are succesfull in Korea too ..

their album promotions pattern are always like this since they enter J market. Korea/Japan.

    ReplyDelete
  168. I always wonder why he is pushing the debut back..I know that he doesn't own a calendar but still..I guess he has so many plan like solos from groups, solo artists etc its so unorganize..

    ReplyDelete
  169. Wow the writer of this article wrote '2PM and Suzy (for JYP)' instead of '2PM and Miss A (for JYP)'. Hope the other Miss A members won't be hurt by this.

    ReplyDelete
  170. it is the merging of a private co. and public co.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Did you not read what I put in brackets??

    ReplyDelete
  172. Sounds like a song that miss A could do.

    T.T

I kinda wish JYP let Fei have this song.

    ReplyDelete
  173. YG and JYP depend 60~75% on the public
    while SM on their fangirls
so SM artists dont need good songs or albums

    ReplyDelete
  174. JYP is going down!! He shouldn't be considered as big 3 anymore and the fact that he's still part of big 3 would prob intimidate the contestants going to JYP.

    ReplyDelete
  175. i wish the would though! it's in my list of kpop frustrations, been a group for 4 years and no official fan name/club!

    ReplyDelete
  176. Jessica's face was so awkward!
Even with plastic she is normal! !

    ReplyDelete
  177. all three companies have history that no other company can outdo, but yes, jyp ent has been flopping lately sadly-their rookies, such as 15&, JJproject, etc had so much potential
sunmi's solo song looks promising..hopefully it's well recieved from the public.

    ReplyDelete
  178. Nah. I still think Yunho and Changmin earn the most in terms of concerts because they have Korean and Japanese concert tours at the same time. Their Korean concerts sell just as much as the other two, but their Japanese tours are in a whole different level compared to SNSD's. Bigger audiences than both SNSD and Super Junior.

    ReplyDelete
  179. wondergirls is still far more relevant to kpop than f(x) will ever be. tbh.

    ReplyDelete
  180. Didn't they ~debut~ in Japan a while back?

    ReplyDelete
  181. JYP is not the CEO. He produces music.

    ReplyDelete
  182. they will release Korean album this year after SNSD's comeback in autumn/winter

    ReplyDelete
  183. It's truth coz MIssA is not even coming bck with new songs. Min juz plays around with fris looking at fr her IG.
JYP is seriously wasting their trainee years and hard works.

    ReplyDelete
  184. has any body notice when sm and jyp was on top the economy wasn't so bad throught out the world crazy right

    ReplyDelete
  185. "miss A has been doing worse than A Pink lately."

apink name is mention in many girl group as comparison. Previously...they compare apink with girl's day & rainbow and now miss a... even i'm happy they compare apink in positive way but honestly, i dislike apink got hate from this comparison.. all (miss a, girl's day, rainbow & apink) are work hard to give best performance...

    ReplyDelete
  186. let's just hope they dont stick to the name 'win' for the boy group! i honestly think that yg has some of the cleverest kpop group names and fanclub names and the name 'WIN' will tarnish everything!

    ReplyDelete
  187. please. exo will overtake those groups in 1 year.

no one cares for those old people

    ReplyDelete
  188. Well once he was considered a pretty reliable sone/sm-insider

    ReplyDelete
  189. 10. [+176, -29] Please, stop with the idols!!! There are only idols in the music charts!! My mp3 hasn't been updated in years from its ballads because of them ㅡㅡ

Maybe if you bought the albums of all the ballad singers then idols wouldn't be the life-blood of the Korean music industry.

.they love Ballad but they don't support it like Idol group
