Sunye reveals she's pregnant, JYP denies rumors of disbandment

Article: Sunye reveals she's pregnant "Three months along now... Thank you for the honeymoon baby"

Source: TV Daily via Nate

1. [+1,259, -113] Daebak... Not only is she the first idol to get married, but also pregnant...

2. [+1,056, -59] Really hard to believe... that an idol group member is becoming a mother.. Congrats ^^

3. [+993, -54] Already a mother... I still haven't forgotten her Tell Me days and she's already a mother!!!!!!!!!!

4. [+248, -34] To all you idiots calling it a shotgun wedding, (Korean) pregnancy months are counted with an extra four weeks because it starts with your last period. Since she got married on January 26th, the four weeks before her marriage count in the pregnancy. And she's having a child with the person she loves, how could you think of even saying such disgusting things to her?

5. [+185, -140] I know this is something to congratulate but this really is... off putting... This is basically saying the Wonder Girls are done for good;;; Sunye's kind of selfish... she only puts her happiness first. Yeah, well, I hope you have a happy life.

6. [+121, -39] Sunye wouldn't be showing off like this if she had a shotgun wedding. The only thing that puts me off about this is that she's still the Wonder Girls' leader and she's only 25 years old. She should be considering the careers of her dongsengs if she actually cared because getting married and having kids could've waited. She's basically leaving the group for her own happiness.. what does she expect the rest of the members to do? From marrying herself off to a rich Canadian and now this pregnancy, all of her actions just seem so selfish to the group.

7. [+99, -93] They must've gone at it hard

8. [+96, -39] Looks like they started doing it as soon as they settled a date

9. [+80, -35] The guy couldn't hold back...

10. [+62, -33] And with that, we have the Wonder Girls' official disbandment.

11. [+60, -25] The rest of the members are probably congratulating her but I bet they're burning inside... Maybe because Sunye grew up poor, but she seems really ambitious and greedy. She has no consideration for the rest of the group and just because she found some rich Canadian, she thinks she's set for life and cements it by getting pregnant.

Article: JYP reps "Pregnant Sunye will not be leaving the Wonder Girls, disbandment rumors are unfounded"

Source: Newsen via Nate

1. [+488, -78] JYP can say that all they want, we all know they're over

2. [+331, -48] Idols are human beings so they can get married and pregnant but.... this just feels weird; am I the only one?

3. [+240, -51] Congrats on your pregnancy! Have a happy, happy life!

4. [+131, -8] JYP is saying not to leave hateful replies but... Doesn't this basically mean the end of Sunye's Wonder Girls' career? What does that make the rest of the members... Nobody even views them as idols anymore because they have a married member with a kid now ㅋㅋㅋ They're basically disbanded. Does Sunye think only her life is precious and the rest of the members can screw off? They're all in one group to achieve a dream and one member goes off to get married... The group is done for then. Sunye, to me, is the stereotypical religious fanatic. They think they're the cleanest, purest, holiest.. but really, they're just selfish and out for their own needs.

5. [+92, -10] I feel the worst for Sohee.. She dropped out of high school for the Wonder Girls and now look at how she ended up. A mother in a girl group... Sunye needs to leave the group and let the group come up with a new team or something else. The rest of the members can't do anything because they're tied to Sunye and they're damaging their image. Is Sunye's life the only life that's important in the group?

6. [+77, -0] I don't mean to write a hateful reply here but g.o.d. was also on "temporary hiatus", not a disbandment. So for the Wonder Girls to be on "temporary hiatus"... haha. What happened after g.o.d. announced their hiatus? Everyone believed them to be disbanded. It's been 8 years since they've been on hiatus... I wonder how the Wonder Girls will fare.

7. [+65, -5] If she had any consideration for the Wonder Girls at all, it's time she left the group.

8. [+63, -1] Continuing to promote as an idol is realistically impossible for her now. She could give birth this year but it'll take a year for her body to recover and I don't think Sunye will leave her kid until he/she's grown up a fair bit, which means she'll at least be 30 by the time she's ready.

9. [+57, -5] As a leader, she should show some consideration for the Wonder Girls' image. How does she expect the rest of the members to live off of the image she wrecked?

10. [+56, -0] I'm not leaving a hateful reply, I just feel bad for the remaining members. Yeeun's smart so she'll get something done but what about Sohee and Lim? Sohee dropped out of high school for the group and Lim joined the group at their downfall and hasn't accomplished anything since. It's great that Sunye is starting a family of her own, but it's only great from HER perspective. The rest of the members were basically fired from the company.

11. [+50, -3] She's so selfish... She's doing everything she wants and praising it as if it's a blessing from God while showing no consideration at all for the other members. Truly your stereotypical religious fanatic.

12. [+48, -1] As a product of the music industry, she's basically over now. No one's going to take a sexy concept from a married woman with a kid. Unless she's going to come out with a mom concept later...

13. [+42, -1] Gorilla, you were fooled. You're the only one that thinks the rumors of disbandment are unfounded. There is only a year left in her contract, right? Judging by what she's doing, she is probably done with you after her contract expires. If she had any intention to continue promoting as an idol, she wouldn't have set up her newlywed home in Canada and gotten pregnant.

  3. wow the hateful comments just wow.. if i was sunye i would run away to canada too. wonder girls has no future and we're not getting younger. i won't throw away my love. sighh. they're just jealous.. i don't want my wonder girls to be like lee hyori,, old, not married, with uncertain carrer...

because married women can't be sexy and once you give birth to a child, you're automatically a mother and nothing more

    sighs

  6. also, "No one's going to take a sexy concept from a married woman with a kid." Beyonce. Case closed.

  7. This is the best comment ever!

  8. I'm happy for her but she should just announce she's out of WG already. The truth is she's holding them back. Being a married woman with kids is obviously her wish, so let her team members have their dream too.

    ReplyDelete
  9. those netizens can fuck off. Sunye doesn't have to live her life by
trying to make everyone else happy. The last few years were probably the
worst of her life and she deserves to be happy.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Talk about hypocrisy! Idols cannot date, marry or have children to make fans happy, but when one does is because he/she is selfish due to wanting to be happy too?

    ReplyDelete
  11. I feel bad but I kind of had the same thoughts as the netizens in a way...poor wg members

  12. "[+488, -78] JYP can say that all they want, we all know they're over"

So true. I mean, good for Sunye to have found someone she loves at her young age. She's building a life with him, finally getting all the happiness and peace she so deserves. At the same time, it's hard not to think about the other 4 girls whose careers are in jeopardy because of it. And really, how is a mother going to be able to join in on album promotions or whatever else, especially in the insane K-pop industry?

And the "hiatus" excuse is so iffy because FinKL, for example, has never officially disbanded. They're technically on hiatus, yet they haven't performed together for years and nobody's expecting them to get back together any time soon.

  13. that already stopped being funny.

  14. 33 may not seem old to some of us, but to Korean netizens, that's practically ancient.

  15. Hyori's not old. WTF. And her career may be uncertain, but she's in a far more secure position in the industry than a lot of other people.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Lee hyori does what the fuck she wants with her life she is rich, hot famous has a boyfriend if she doesn't want to get marry it's her life and her career is not uncertain wait for a comeback in May then you will open your mouth

  18. sun should leave WG...
do you aspect a mother to be in idol group and still dance like other girl??
sun so lucky, she had nothing to loose.. she already had rich husband and child...
she can terminated her contract and her husband could pay for it.

    ReplyDelete
  19. 3. [+240, -51] Congrats on your pregnancy! Have a happy, happy life!

These are the only types of comments that should be left by netizens. Both Korean and International. Her life is her life. Don't criticize her decisions. Don't speculate on the future of the WG. She's about to bring a new life into the world and that's something to congratulate. Nothing else.

What ever happens surrounding everything else, will happen. Leaving hateful replies is moot.

    ReplyDelete
  20. at least Sunye is realistic she knew quite well WG will never be the way it used to be so she found herself a man got married and is set now what's so wrong about that JYP is the one to blame i bet Sunye endured as much as she could so did the other members ... sometimes you have to be selfish at some point in your life or else you just get depressed and become suicidal ... i applaud Sunye's decision tbh ... those netizens if they feel so sorry how about when WG makes a comeback you support them ok instead of blaming Sunye

  21. "12. [+48, -1] As a product of the music industry, she's basically over now. No one's going to take a sexy concept from a married woman with a kid. Unless she's going to come out with a mom concept later..."

    two words: Namie Amuro.

Mother of 3 children, sexy pop singer. Damn Korea be more open-minded, Namie isn't even the only mother/singer that has a sexy image globally

    ReplyDelete
  22. hyori doesn't need your pity =_=

    ReplyDelete
  23. Whoa, things are progressing so quickly here. I'm still getting over the fact that she got married at all, lol. I dunno why JYP is still clinging to this notion that they're not disbanding. I really can't see how the Wonder Girls would survive this. I guess we'll see.

Anyway, congratulations to Sunye! That baby will be adorable.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I don't understand how this is being greedy and selfish in Sunye's part. WG has been in the rut they are in now for years and it doesn't seem like they'll be getting out of it any time soon. Is that their fault? No, I don't think so. If you think their idol careers are over, then what do you think THEY feel? Did you really think Sunye would wait forever before she starts working on her post-idol life? I feel bad for the rest of the members too but it's not Sunye's fault that nothing's happening with their lives.

And fuck yes, a baby is a blessing from God. Call me a religious fanatic or what but it's a fucking miracle.

    ReplyDelete
  25. :/

I'm not leaving a hateful reply but /hateful reply

Though some of them do bring up good points.

    ReplyDelete
  26. That's not it. I'm sorry but really think about would you really say the the thing you do (if you are a guy) about somebody else's mother? The only way this can work out is for her to stop being an idol. It's not that she is just a mother it's just that she can't be an idol and all of what it entails anymore

    ReplyDelete
  27. shut ut knetizens, she's married and pregnant , congrats to her! and stop being all pressed about WG, lol for fuck sake it's just a girls band!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. 5. [+185, -140] I know this is something to congratulate but this really is... off putting... This is basically saying the Wonder Girls are done for good;;; Sunye's kind of selfish... she only puts her happiness first. Yeah, well, I hope you have a happy life.

What the fuck is this shit? As an idol, I'm sure Sunye has lived quite a difficult life. She has always had to please others, practicing singing and dancing until the early hours of the morning, getting little to no sleep, and traveling the world. And for what? It was to satisfy YOU as the consumer. She has consistently put other people's needs before her own and it's about damn time she took control of her life and put her own happiness first.

Screw all of the stupid comments that I've been seeing lately. It's absolutely ridiculous how they think every celebrity is indebted to them for the rest of their life just because that was all they saw; the glitz and glamour of the celebrity life. News flash, celebrities have their own lives too and they aren't going to cater to you forever.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Tell that to Beyonce.

  30. anyw congrats sunyeApril 4, 2013 at 12:26 PM

lol someone on omona said james is like the modern yoko ono. i laughed.

    ReplyDelete
  31. That's not 100% true she could be an MILF....JS

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yes let's compare this to a totally different industry and artist.

    ReplyDelete
  33. But Namie, as well as a lot of the others (Beyonce, etc.), is a solo artist. It's much easier to gradually shift an image for a solo singer. Sunye's in a group, so that makes things trickier.

    ReplyDelete
  34. yes she can. The child has a father, the parents are rich, and there are plenty of busy female musicians that do this every day. way busier than most idols.

    ReplyDelete
  35. So happy that she's pregnant! I hope that child ends up being just as good hearted and good looking as both parents! All in all though, I hope they bring back Sunmi and revive the group. The Wonder Girls need to come back stronger than ever, because I feel so bad for Hyelim. U n U

    ReplyDelete
  36. MTE tooo
i feel really bad for the other members
they have to achieve their dream too
i always wonder what's really happen?
i mean, why dont sunye just out from WG and let the rest continue the group?
im a wonderful and i want all the member happy too (i know they said that they're happy but you know what i mean)

    ReplyDelete
  37. I don't why people are acting like Sunye is the only hope for WG's survival. This isn't like 4minute or Miss A where the group could completely collapse (at least popularity-wise) without one member. Everyone in WG has some popularity/talent and can do other things, or they can just promote as a group without Sunye for awhile. Plus maybe having a mother in the group could actually appeal to a new demographic of fans (moms/older women) and make WG even more family friendly? Idk, just a thought.

And no Sunye is not being selfish because she is not a slave to WG or JYPE. Some people do hold back marriage and having children in order to pursue their careers but that's not always the case and it should not be the expectation for every woman. Sunye went through a lot in her youth and she now wants happiness, stability and peace in her life. The whole world won't end because Sunye is living her life in a way that she has every right to.

    Anyway, congrats Sunye!

    ReplyDelete
  38. And is she still an idol? Noo, you can't be the same type of sexy and cute after having a kids. It's just not possible and being an idol in the west is different than in the east anyway

    ReplyDelete
  39. "The rest of the members are probably congratulating her but I bet they're burning inside... Maybe because Sunye grew up poor, but she seems really ambitious and greedy. She has no consideration for the rest of the group and just because she found some rich Canadian, she thinks she's set for life and cements it by getting pregnant."

I wonder what the other Wonder girls really think..
Just before their US real 'debut' their leader gets married and she's now pregnant.

    ReplyDelete
  40. You can it's just different. It's not possible to be an idol. And idol implicates so many things specially in Asia. It's different

    ReplyDelete
  41. I love Sunye and happy for her and everything but they're kind of right tbh. It's over for her. She needs to let the rest of the group go because they have a better chance of surviving without her. 2PM did okay without a leader so why can't the Wonder Girls?

    ReplyDelete
  42. The most wisest comment ever!

    ReplyDelete
  43. "They're basically disbanded. Does Sunye think only her life is precious and the rest of the members can screw off? They're all in one group to achieve a dream and one member goes off to get married...

the last part is so truth that it hurts.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Umm but has victoria beckham came back as an idol? She is a fashion icon now

    ReplyDelete
  45. Nah but she was and she's still pretty famous and does the whole "I'm gonna hook up with my group for a few performances here and there" thing so shut up I do what I want.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Please dont bring namie into this..she is not an idol she is on a different level. She has had a tough life but she is able to overcome her downfalls. Her mother was murdered, she had her son when she was 21, and had a custody battle and divorce with her sons father

    ReplyDelete
  47. Pretty sure that it's JYP that won't let her go, not Sunye holding onto the group. She's definitely smart enough to realize the difficulties in balancing raising a child and promoting as an idol; I really doubt she wants to continue this career and prioritize her family life. If she ever wanted to get back into music, she does have the vocals for it.

It's that JYP is failing when his only cash cow is 2PM and Suzy. He doesn't want to be the person that says his group is breaking up/losing another member when people are already looking at JYPE as a loss.

(LBR, WG was basically created for Sunye, not the other way around. To lose the main person, leader, and only all-arounder in the group--even without officially announcing it, WG career as a group is over.)

    ReplyDelete
  48. Some of you ifans are really stupid. And i am guessing you are american too? Do you know anything about your music industry? Beyonce is not a teen idol. She is on a different level than korean idols.

    ReplyDelete
  49. TBH, I kinda agree with some of the netizens...Like I'm happy for her but like...she's going to have a child...where does she have the time to go around promoting WG??? Idols practically work non-stop...she wouldn't have a lot of time for her family :(

    ReplyDelete
  50. i do agree. i think wondergirls isn't disbanded yet but yes, sunye's out of WG already.

    ReplyDelete
  51. R.I.P wondergirls.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I don't know. Solo acts and idol groups are different; solo acts only have to worry about their own image, idol groups have to worry about the image as a whole.

I feel that it would be weird to see Sunye gyrating her hips with Yubin and the others. I wouldn't find her unappealing or unsexy, but it's clear that Sunye and the rest of the group are in different stages of life and she'd basically be doing the dance to match the rest of the girls and the concept, not because that's what she wanted to do.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Beyonce isnt a korean idol you tard. Its two totally different concepts and music industries...Sunye is from a teen idol group

    ReplyDelete
  54. Wtf? Namie only has one son. Get your facts straight

    ReplyDelete
  55. I don't see why some of you are so quick to say things like this. It's as if you guys are suggesting that she's the one being selfish.
If anything I'm sure this is mostly JYP's work. Sunye has said she wants to focus on her marriage and do music when she can.
But JYP can possibly still keeps dragging this on because of the fans that don't want her to leave. JYP could simply let Wonder Girls continue without Sun Ye but the company chooses not to do so. If anything it's JYP being selfish.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Whinny little biatch.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I'm really happy for her

    ReplyDelete
  58. her getting married was the death of wonder girls.

baby is just making it official.

a mom can be a star (singer, actress, etc) but a mom can't be a idol.

    ReplyDelete
  59. let's not kid ourselves, by the time she's ready to come back as an artist, WG would've probably been inactive for so long that theyre considered disbanded. jyp and sunye should just let it go or admit it. as much as i want her in WG, im also happy she is starting her own family. i can't with the fucking comments calling her selfish. "she only puts her happiness first" is that all that wrong? while she was a great contributor member of WG, i don't think her role is that pivotal that they can't promote without her.

    ReplyDelete
  60. thats not the point that they're trying to get at. if u read the comments, they kind of congratulate her, but at the same time question her decisions. YES she is happy, that is important, but what about the other members?? and she's the LEADER thats meant to hold the group together. please, do THINK for once before crying "hypocrisy" as if that one word explains and sums up everything.
    IM OUT.

    2. MTE. Sunye had a pretty large role in WG.
And now she's pregnant already! Pregnancy = a few months of hiatus = WG going on a long hiatus = no promotions done = no income for the other WG members.

Actually I get what the k-netizens are saying. Idol groups are different from the regular singers. Idols do have a certain fresh image and they do a lot of dancing. It feels weird to have a married women trying to attract the fanboys with her dance. It's not hypocrisy or "knetizens feeling pressed", it's the whole idol culture.
I don't have a problem seeing her as a solo singer though.

SY should leave WG. Take it as a "graduation", and always remaining as an "honorary member". So that the rest can continue with their WG activities soon.

  61. Sunye, to me, is the stereotypical religious fanatic. They think they're the cleanest, purest, holiest.. but really, they're just selfish and out for their own needs.

I can't agree more. She should leave Wonder Girls. She's now a liability as a mother. A mother can be a star (actress, singer, etc) but she can't be a idol. It's just weird.

    ReplyDelete
  62. those women are actresses and singers. not idols.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Are you really saying a idol and on the same level as Beyonce?

    ReplyDelete
  64. why else would she marry him? (and don't say love. if it was just love they would have waited a few more years)

    ReplyDelete
  65. I agree over on allkpop ppl be going crazy for her but I agree it's amazing for her only for her. With her still in the wonder girls the other are tied down to her they can't have a comeback without her. If she just announces that she's done than the wonder girls can move on and it's like ppl won't understand why she had to withdraw. And after her withdrawal and the wonder girls are still around after a couple of yrs than she can maybe comeback and rejoin.

    ReplyDelete
  66. How can they call her selfish? She's living her life, what's so wrong with that?

    ReplyDelete
  67. Beyonce is on a whole other level then Sunyu (who is just an idol).

    ReplyDelete
  68. ... so? This is about still being viewed as sexy/attractive after giving birth. Last time I checked, idols are not the only celebrities that exist. I don't even know why anyone brought idols into this but yea now I get it. American/British celebrities can be sexy as mothers, idols can't. Might as well just sew them up, yea?

I think she is basically saying goodbye to WG.
JYP can say what he wants, she could have avoid this pregnancy, it seems impossible to me that she is not aware about contraception.
And yeah, i'm really happy for her but the other members are kind of screwed now.
Except if they have amazing skills in other areas or make good solo comebacks.
The group was already pretty forgotten in Korea and Sunye's new life will complicate things more.
It seems to me like if she ran away from her group.

    ReplyDelete
  70. It was the members career. What will the other members do now that the group is at it's least popular and the leader got hitched and pregnant?

    ReplyDelete
  71. First of beyonce is not an Idol nor does she have other members to worry about or tied down to her she can do whatever she wants whenever she wants. Also beyonce is not promoting in Korea think about your demographics it may be well accepted fact in America that a married woman can sing and dance in shorts in Korea it's a whole different story.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Victoria Beckham was never a KOREAN idol. And maybe it's cause your young but Victoria's star power is a fraction of what it was years ago.

    ReplyDelete
  73. They're super religious though, so it's not really that much of a surprise that she's pregnant so soon.

    ReplyDelete
  74. we're talking about the idol girl group wonder girls. not british/american celebrities. not singers. we're talking about IDOLs. different set of rules.

    ReplyDelete
  75. omg, it will not end their career ,please. They're young. They can do a lot of stuff.
It's just some of their fans who cry because they don't gonna have WG songs anymore, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  76. First of all.........I don't know what';s up with all these youngin's callling people 30 and over old. Hyori is fabulous and youthful as hell.

    ReplyDelete
  80. She should let them move on. I feel like they'll never come back as a group as long as she's away and that's not fair, since that means WG has to wait for years. What if she doesn't come back? I don't even think she will.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I know he's a missionary in Haiti, but that's about all I know!

    ReplyDelete
  82. I wish Sunye the best. I don't know if it's possible for her to be a mom, wife, and an idol, but time will tell. Being an idol is her job and yes, she's the first idol we've seen get married and pregnant while still being well-known and she could also be the first one who continues to have her idol career after having a family. Times are changing and women, whether idol or not, should be able to still have the careers they want and the family they choose.

I think the best thing JYP can do is revamp their image now as more mature women, so their music will be less idol-like and more mature to accompany Sun's marriage and baby. They need a revamp in image anyway, so this could be the perfect excuse to start over in a way. Their star power in Korea is not what it used to be, so maybe a revamp can get them a bit more popularity. I think anything's possible and hopefully this sill start a new chapter for the WG and not end what they've all worked so hard for.

    ReplyDelete

It's common for women in the west to have a career in the entertainment world despite having a child and whatever age they are, but that is different in S.korea as they like the women and men to be young and ''fresh''. They find it unsuitable for a woman to have a child and at the same time be an artist. It's sad, but it's the truth :(

    ReplyDelete
  85. WOW...that is amazing. That you would demean me because I'm an American. Did I ever say that Beyonce WAS an idol? NO. But she started off that way because she was in a group. A group that still comes together from time to time. I understand that family life is VERY important in the Korean culture. But you guys make it seem that Sun Ye is completely incapable of balance.

But no. Go on. Tell me what Sun Ye CAN'T do because the industry restricts her from doing so because she's "just an idol."

    ReplyDelete
  86. Did I say that?

    ReplyDelete
  87. It's not really about being okay without a leader or a member. It's the fact that their member is pregnant and having a kid + people feel like WG is over because of this, since 2 ex-members have already left WG and so if another leaves it's kinda unstable:(

    ReplyDelete
  88. I did not say that she is an idol at all first of all. She started that way and then escalated beyond that when she broke away from Destiny's Child. Second of all, are you all put in such a box? I'm not denying that family is EXTREMELY important in South Korea. I get that. I understand that. My Korean teacher who is a native from Seoul talked to us about that. However, are you guys really going to leave it up to an industry to say what Sun Ye can and cannot do?

Who's to say that she cannot get up on stage even post-pregnancy? You all? The industry? Promotions last for but a season. Are you saying that Sun Ye not capable of balance?

    ReplyDelete
  89. Did I say she was?

    ReplyDelete
  90. Right! She's only in her 30's, it's not like she's 65 or somethin

    ReplyDelete
  91. Wondergirls are almost gone. Wow.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I definitely agree with you. I see that Korea has some ageism and sexism issues. Everyone has to be young, fresh, and pure. When you look at the comments left by netizen, you get a glimpse of some of these problems. I remember reading an article recently and people were saying that many top actresses are now in their 30s, which could create a problem. Many top actresses in the US are in their thirties and older, but no one thinks it could be a problem. All the industry would need to do is find young actresses. I'm sure there are many good young actresses in Korea waiting for their big break.......they just need to find them.

I don't know what's the future of Sun and the Wonder Girls, but I wish them the best. JYP need to do a better job of getting solo activities for the time being. They haven't been promoting, yet we don't see them anywhere. I don't think that's Sunye's marriage/baby situation. I think it's JYP's inadequacy.......just like how he used to promote Suzy and the rest of Miss A barely had any solo projects, although now Fei is getting more popularity. I know that wasn't the best example, because Miss A are under a subsidary company of JYP na not JYP entertainment itself.

    ReplyDelete
  93. I don't get why people are shitting with you. LOL. You made a point, and you never said anything about Beyonce being an idol. What's there to misinterpret with your comment? LOL.

Is it just me that feels this way or the fact that Sohee dropped out of high school just screams "I did it because I thought I'd become so successful and rich that I don't need school." Don't blame Sunye for a personal choice someone else made. Because there are other idols who still went to school and even BoA, who dropped out of school, was number one in her class in middle school and after dropping out for a year, she passed an exam that made her graduate from both middle school and high school.

Sounds like to me, Sohee thought she was gonna live the big life.

    1. Sohee was forced by JYPE to drop out of school back in 2009 because of their US debut and then staying there for 2 to 3 years. She did not drop out of school just until the idea of their US debut came out in 2009 but before that sohee was still going to school . Just like how u dont want sunye to be blamed dont attack sohee when u dont know the story behind her dropping out of school

  98. It's all so sad, really. JYP Ent needs someone who can take care of the groups well. It seems as though Park Jin Young is a bit lacking in that area...

    ReplyDelete
  99. Congrats. Your personal happiness is what matter most in the world. So do you. Forget these people who only know to be miserable. I don't blame her at all. The WG can take care of themselves. What does sohee dropping out of school have to do with her? Sohee decided to do that....that's her decision...Sohee should worry about her life.

    ReplyDelete
  100. getting married and being a mom while you're an idol... is indeed surprising... its a lot of first times in the industry so no wonder we all have giant question marks in our heads but yeah... we can only wait to see what happens... im still impressed with sunye unni's decision... she, intentionally or not, changed the way idols function in the industry from people who need to wait until theyre not active to fall in love to people who might be able to date, get married and have kids and still stand on stage.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Sunye can dance in a bikini on stage post pregnancy for all I care she can do whatever she wants but it is not widely accepted aspect in Korea as it maybe in America. Her status as an idol is partially to blame as well as cultural norms that are already in place it's oing to take years for perception to change.

You may have not said that beyonce is an idol but you can't compare sunye to beyonce there situations are totally different.

My main point beyonce is solo sun ye is in a group. End of discussion. Different situations.

    ReplyDelete
  102. wtf are you talking about. Hyori is rich, accomplished and not tied down to an asshole husband with a bunch of annoying kids. she can go play with her nieces and nephews then gets to go home to her peaceful house and boyfriend.

    THIS.

Sigh... Seriously... I don't even know.

Part of me is happy for Sunye, but some of the commenters are right: What about the rest of the group?

Sunye can't just pop out a baby and go right back to being the leader of WG. She WAS a great leader, no doubt about that. But maybe it's time for her to step down. Let someone like Yenny try their hand at being the leader, so they can continue on their dream and Sunye can care for her child.

The first year is the most important time for a mother and child, especially with breastfeeding and that's the year of "firsts"... like first teeth, first time rolling over, first time crawling, first time walking, first words, first time eating solid foods...

If Sunye were to be an idol so soon, she would miss all of that. I love her and I wouldn't want her to miss all of those special moments. They only happen once and they're over in the blink of an eye...

    ReplyDelete
  104. Except that WG was never even close to being The Beatles... lol

  109. sohee dropped out because JYP moved them to america, so she lost the school year. there are other idols that never finished highschool, like hyoyeon, and i don't see anyone calling them out. she could have very well have gotten her GED and we don't know about it. don't make assumptions.

    ReplyDelete
  110. 5. [+185, -140] I know this is something to congratulate but this really is... off putting... This is basically saying the Wonder Girls are done for good;;; Sunye's kind of selfish... she only puts her happiness first. Yeah, well, I hope you have a happy life.

this comment is so stupid. Sunye isn't going to be an idol FOREVER. she can't put her WHOLE LIFE on hold just to sing and dance on a stage. she needs a husband, a family, a life. i'm so proud and happy for her. Sunye's not selfish, it's you random netizen whos selfish.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I'm happy for her and she seems like a sweet person who's truly in love, but if I were Lim I would be furious with her for basically destroying my chance at a career before I'd even started.

    ReplyDelete
  112. No, she WANTS a husband and a family, and of course it's her right to pursue those things. She does not NEED them, that's an insult to women who don't want husbands or kids.

    ReplyDelete
  113. yeah i agree, being an idol who is married and a mother? not practical

    ReplyDelete
  114. I'm not sure what Lim should be expecting at this point. She joined WG when their popularity had already declined significantly and even while in the group she's probably the least popular member. If her career doesn't go anywhere it's won't really be because of Sunye but rather because of bad timing and Lim's low popularity :/

    ReplyDelete
  115. I guess you are a part of the hater and troll group right? You do realize you are a top commenter on this site? You seem to be the only one who cannot think outside of your kpop box considering you compared a teen korean idol to beyonce. Kpop and the american music industry is two totally different concepts. Grow up and stop acting extremely defensive because people called you out on being wrong. Anyone who speaks reasonable and says something you do not like is a hater or troll? Stop acting like such a fangirl.

    ReplyDelete
  116. yall must be stupid, having a family and being happy is WAY more important than being a fucking idol slave. Why can't people just be happy for her? she's probably over that lifestyle and she should be. This girl basically had no one left in her family and she realized that slaving away trying to break into the us market was a waste of her life. I'm glad she's happy.

    ReplyDelete
  117. I just think she should just leave the wonder girls and just settle into her new life. She will be holding the girls back if she asked them to wait dor her to come back. Coz she'll have to wait at least two years before she can fully come back and i dont think the fans will wait tjat long for wondergirls. Just replace her with sunmi ot someone else...

    ReplyDelete
  118. Daebak... Not only is she the first idol to get married, but also pregnant...

well, i'm not sure about the last part :p

  119. I don't think Wonder Girls are over, but I do think that Wonder Girls with Sunye are over.

  120. Koda Kumi is not from an idol group?? I don't understand what you people do not understand??
Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Koda Kumi and Namie Amuro are solo singers. Also NEWSFLASH** They belong to a totally different music industry than Korea.

Sunye is from a teen idol group. Some of you need to grow up.

    ReplyDelete
  121. 1) WG was created for Sunye. And JYP has stated many times that he only trusts WG with Sunye. If that's not a pivotal role enough, I don't know what is. That said, it doesn't mean the other four can't start a new group under a new name. I believe JYPE wanted WG's name to 'carry on' cos it still has commercial value.

    2) Their contract is ending in early 2014. I don't see any difference whether Sunye continues staying or the four to promote without Sunye. Their time is up. And it is good that they have 1 year (while still under WG's name) to kickstart their solo activities before officially becoming solo artistes. This is better than come 2013, all of a sudden you are on your own without even a group image to fall back upon.

    3) Before people start calling out Sunye as selfish, and thinking that the other members dreams were to promote as Wonder Girls, let me just say that Sohee, Lim and Yubin had expressed many times (even before Sunye's marriage) that they wanted to go into acting. Sohee, especially, since her inirital dream was to become an actress, not a singer. Yeeun has also said she wanted to produce music. It seems like it is the netizens who wanted them to stay as a group, not necessarily the members themselves felt this way.

    4) Sunye has done more than enough for the group, from shielding her members to hand-holding Lim when she first joined. She did outstanding as the leader of the group when the group was still actively promoting. It is unfair to call her selfish just because she finally had some time for herself instead of fretting over her members.

    5) I am sure no one wants to say that the group has disbanded, but I am sure the members know that Wonder Girls can't reclaim their popularity anymore. They have their pride too, leave before they dropped to the pits.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Eh they were done for after leaving Korea for so long and failing in the US.

    ReplyDelete
  123. I agree with most of your points, however, if Sunye has done enough for the group (which I agree, she's great!), then why doesn't she (or JYP, really) just leave?

    ReplyDelete
  124. Newsflash! Whether or not they're idols or in an idol group isn't the point. The point is that I fail to see why Sunye can't return to the wonder girls after having a child.

    ReplyDelete
  125. With her past, I don't think she'll be able to leave her kid and do what she was doing before. I think she'll be happier being a full time mother. and wife, so JYP just say it.

    11. [+50, -3] She's so selfish... She's doing everything she wants and praising it as if it's a blessing from God while showing no consideration at all for the other members. Truly your stereotypical religious fanatic.

just GTFO, Everyone has a right to be happy, and that is not being selfish. And hopefully the members don't feel this way, coz Sunye of all people deserves this happiness.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Having a baby can really change someones life. Just read about Mutya Buena, when she gave birth and promoted with her group Sugababes she becane unhappy and suffered from post natal depression and eventually left the group a few months later so maybe this could happen to Sunye? I dunno... If you are a solo artist it probably won't be so bad and you won't really be affected but in a group you may very well have to make a choice.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Wow.. so much hate. Whatever happened to just congratulating her and wishing the best for her baby -___-

Yes it's true that promoting will be very hard if one member is married but Wonder Girls' popularity has already been decreasing ever since they went to the U.S so I doubt that Sunye's marriage will make any difference in their musical career.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Leave the group? There isn't any need to leave the group, just like Sunmi too. For more than 3 years Sunmi is still part of the group, she never left. Sunye has done enough for the group and now is time for her to find her happiness, but doesn't mean she need to quit the group since in one year's time, they will all not be under contract.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Wonder Girls are over. Their recent two releases have been lacklustre. No Sunye = No WG. That was what JYP said right from the beginning. The other girls could jolly well form another group under another group name.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Wow, if Lim really thinked that way, she must be a heartless beast. Who was the one who took care of her the most when she just joined? She herself said that many times it was Sunye. Without Sunye, I don't think she will have been dropped before her first year is up. And... Lim had 3 years to get her career started but sadly the lack of interest in WG cause her to fail.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Yea, looks like the other 4 people needed her badly. Without Sunye, they won't be what they are today.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Then change the group name. JYP has said he only trusts Sunye as leader of WG. Yenny won't be able to fill Sunye's shoes. Furthermore, they have only 1 year left on the contract. The other girls are having solo activities, not as if they are totally jobless.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Just relax everybody and be happy for her. Shinwa went on 4 year hiatus and then came back, so Wonder Girls might to.

Wonder Girls, minus Lim, are all big names, so they'll find stuff to do. Sohee always wanted to be an actress anyway, not a singer. She'll probably keep pursuing modelling, maybe variety, Yubin seems to be doing acting now, and Yenny will definitely debut as a solo singer doing ballads.

    ReplyDelete
  134. I'm still stuck in my K-POP box for not conforming to everyone else's opinion because mine is impractical and wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Totally agree! I feel for the other members...

    ReplyDelete
  136. okay its true, married and getting pregnant a few months after seems way too early & Sunye is so young but.....WG still have a chance..

    ReplyDelete
  137. When I heard that she's pregnant, I immediately asked, What about the Wonder Girls now? Are they going to be disbanded? Bcoz having a member that is married & alr have a child in an idol group is just so weird considering that Idol groups are tend to be "teens" and "singles" LOL

    ReplyDelete
  138. honestly WG fans need to suck it up and let sunye leave she got a baby now...ye eun can also sing decentyl.....just bring back sunmi and call it a day

    ReplyDelete
  139. Lol shot gun wedding just like Koda Kumi. Congrats anyways.

    ReplyDelete
  140. no, she's not.... u should read the news before speak up.

    ReplyDelete
  141. yeah, just leave sunye alone... and bring WG back with sunmi.... i'm totally agree

    ReplyDelete
  142. If it's better then why not announce that she's leaving? That's our point.

    ReplyDelete
  143. They have Yenny but I think she should just go solo after all this.

A birth of a new life is something precious, just congratulate and be happy for her...

On a lighter note, she suddenly look so much more beautiful and shining, I'm glad ^^
