Eugene reveals how SM led to SES's disbandment
Article: 'Knee-Drop Guru' Eugene, "The reason SES disbanded? SM wanted to renew contracts with individual members (not the entire group)"

KHD: "Did you decide to disband SES over money?"
Eugene: "Bada, Shoo, and I wanted to renew our contracts as SES but SM did not want to renew us as a group but as individual members. Our first contracts were individual as well so I think they wanted to just continue it that way. Eventually, we weren't able to reach a compromise so the three of us decided to disband while we were at the height of our popularity.
Groups these days can have members doing individual activities while still remaining as a group, but such a concept didn't exist back then. People thought you were betraying your group if you did something on your own so we had to stay together. That's why we chose to disband. If the current system existed back then, we would've been able to remain together..."

1. [+187, -7] SM screwed up not only HOT, but TVXQ and SES too but trying to apply the market principle where it doesn't belong. The market will never ever see a group like HOT and SES again, Lee Soo Man has to be regretting it right now.. tsk tsk, money controls all decisions
2. [+162, -7] What do you expect from SM? They did it with HOT, with SES, and even Shinhwa. They tried to renew Shinhwa's contracts individually so the members whose contracts expired first had to wait for the remaining members before they all came out together. And TVXQ's in the mess they are right now because of their individual contracts... The reason SM is obsessed with individual contracts is because they want to be able to have the power to throw out any one member who isn't worth anything or doesn't listen to them. They're not called dogs for no reason.
3. [+137, -7] Shinhwa shouldn't be used as a comparison because leader Eric bought lawyers for the Shinhwa name. Even now, when they're promoting as Shinhwa, there's a sum they have to pay to SM each time to be able to use the name.
4. [+41, -3] Well SM views their artists as products... which is why they lost great groups like HOT, SES, Shinhwa, and TVXQ.
5. [+37, -5] Obviously SM is trying to milk them as a group and run them through individual activities so they can see who is worthy and popular. Then they'll renew contracts with popular members like Eugene and throw out the rest.
