Article: Lee Hongki's nail art cost $50,000 USD... "Enjoy with your eyes"

Source: E-News via Nate

In total since he got into the hobby in 2011, Hongki's revealed to have spent $50,000 on nail art alone and he's considered a "genius in the nail industry" among nail designers.

1. [+219, -16] He's really weird ㅡㅡ

2. [+155, -26] It makes me sick to my stomach to see kids like him call themselves a star and throw around money like that. What's so difficult about being a celebrity that they make money so easily?

3. [+96, -13] Ahhh, gross ㅡㅡ

4. [+15, -4] Nails are always growing.. but he invests $50,000 to enjoy that short moment???? Money is seriously nothing to these celebrities...

5. [+14, -2] He can't be normal... ㅋㅋㅋ

6. [+13, -2] Yeah, I admit I'm a jealous hater, I'm fu*king jealous of this kid.. $50,000... that's almost double my yearly income and I make $26,000... meanwhile kids like him throw that cash into nail art.

7. [+12, -3] Money must be rotting away for him

8. [+11, -3] Brainless idiot

9. [+10, -2] I truly wonder what lives idols will be living 15 years from now~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

10. [+9, -3] And all that money is from his stupid fangirls... oh no, wait, the parents of his stupid fangirls.

  4. It's ridiculous and superficial of him but it is his money and he can do what he pleases with it, it's his business.

Thank you for being real with yourself. I'm not making fun of this guy/girl if anybody is thinking that, but I commend him for his/her honesty.

  6. there is this place we call charity home. I dont tell people how to spend money but seriously.. money doesnt grow from trees and if its growing it is not just some leaves..

  7. it's fine to find this overboard or weird, but these comments are written by jealous and bitter people.

  8. SOMEBODY'S JEALOUS... :P

  9. Who cares, it's his money. Rather he spend his money on nail-art stuff than drugs, alcholol and gambling.

  10. Hongki has a hand fetish I think. He also loves to put on rings.

    I think so too.

It said nail art.. I was expecting something like japanese nail art or something.. LOL

  13. i'm not jealous but i think it's too much. Huu, if i could get the 50000usd i'll spent on others. But yeah, it's his money so he can do what he want :)

    ReplyDelete
  14. It's something he enjoys. How is that a waste of money, isn't that literally what money is for?

    ReplyDelete
  15. I remember a Beyonce article about how she spents thousands of dollars on Blue Iveys birthday and they were like "why would you care about what other people spend their money on, they earned it"

    ...Same logic applies here.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Seriously? Hongki has been in the entertainment business since he was a child. He has earned his money honestly through his work and can spend it however he likes. Nail art obviously makes him happy, so why the hell should we rag on him for that?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Totally agreed. They worked their butt off for it. I don't see the problem here? They're using the money they obtained from continuous effort. Why are those people bitching about how people spend their money?

    ReplyDelete
  18. it is a stupid way to spend money, but it is HIS money. people really get butthurt when celebrities all around the world spend their money like that.. it's as if they expect that the person had to divide her money with them, or that she is responsible for the fact that they do not earn that much.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I say better to spend it than hoard all that money.

    ReplyDelete
  20. People work hard to earn money and we spend that money for two things: needs and wants

    ReplyDelete
  21. My lovely gay boy.

    ReplyDelete
  22. he works so hard! and he can do what ever he want with his money!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. At least that person is not hating, he's just being jealous of the money Hongki earns.

    ReplyDelete
  24. a fool and his money are soon parted...

    ReplyDelete
  25. I thought I'll see this kind of nail art too

    ReplyDelete
  26. sometimes , k netizen makes me sick . F*** u all . he has right to do what he want

    ReplyDelete
  27. for only 5$ you can save a child in Africa #Justsaying dont kill me!! lol :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yep, I heard Simon Cowell pays $10 for luxury black toilet paper. Shouldn't matter if it's their money.

    ReplyDelete
  29. well its fucking beyonce man
dont question her she is a legend in the music industry
hongki is just some kpop guy

    ReplyDelete
  30. 50,000, i can use that money for my tuition ): and yet he uses it on his finger nails.
    im so jealous. sigh

    ReplyDelete
  31. Agree, it's normal to be jealous.

    ReplyDelete
  32. He's not hurting anyone by doing so, if he didn't spend it in his nails he would've spent it somewhere else. You have money to do what you like to do, then go ahead as long you're not hurting anyone. It's not like he's taking peoples money.

    ReplyDelete
  33. It has REAL diamond on that snake head thingy..offcourse its expensive..lol..Hongki can save that diamond..kkkkk not wasting money but investment with Hobby..

    ReplyDelete
  34. Are you serious? Then you are quite a great person but once you got the money in your hand it's a different story.

    ReplyDelete
  35. It's his money. LOL who cares. He works hard for it for pleasing fangirls

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hongki can spend his money any way he wants but the problem is, he should spend his money more wisely. F.T. Island isn't raking in the cash. Maybe they have some popularity in Taiwan but for the most part, that band is going downhill in popularity and sales. Hongki was a child actor but he hasn't gotten many acting gigs. Aside from You're Beautiful, I don't know what other projects he's done. So unless things change, I don't see Hongki making a lot of money in the future and an idol has a short shelf life. Shouldn't he invest that money more wisely and plan for his future?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Well, if they are referring to his fine jewelry as "nail art", 50 grand ain't bad

    ReplyDelete
  38. $50,000 for a nail art... wow... human these days are just-

    ReplyDelete
  39. Life is unfair in the first place, you know...

Hongki sings his butt off to get money, it's not like he steals it from anyone. If spending 50000$ on nail art is his fault, so it's your fault not to be born with singing talent.

    ReplyDelete
  40. But what's the difference, really? They both earned their money and should be able to spend it however they want.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'm not sure how FT Island can be going downhill or not be ranking any cash if they still have a solid fan base and do well in Korea, Taiwan, AND Japan. Plus, they've written/composed several of their songs so they'd royalties money from that. As for Hongki, he's been in the entertainment industry since he was a child and is the most popular member of FT Island, so he should have quite a bit of money. And him spending 50k on a hobby doesn't necessarily mean that he hasn't saved for his future either.

Anyway, even after 5 years FT Island still performs in packed stadiums and have MC, CF deals, etc. So... I don't think they're headed to the poor house anytime soon, if at all :P

    ReplyDelete
  42. Fuck off!!! Leave him alone.. Atleast you guy's should know the word Mind your own business..

    ReplyDelete
  43. that's his own money, let him spend it whatever he likes
oh netizen, you're jealous he got to spend that much of money on his nails

    ReplyDelete
  44. They don't care that Beyonce and Jay-Z blow $80 000 in one day but spending $50 000 over the space of nearly two years is suddenly the biggest crime? Totally makes sense.

    ReplyDelete
  45. how would he tell if his wipe is clean then?
if it's black...you wouldn't be able to see...

    ReplyDelete
  46. at least he shared that "huge income" to everybody and dont keep it for himself..

its what we call money circulation..

    ReplyDelete
  47. they are in 7-10 billions won club tho. FTI is going downhill?waaa..lol! he got movie coming out, wgm,cf,albums etc. he said most of his money were given to his parents for safe keep. i don't think he going to be broke anytime soon. i think we should worry more about
ourselves more since we're not celebrities and don't make billions of won every year.

    ReplyDelete
  48. if i had shitload of money, i'll do the same, just because i can.

    ReplyDelete
  49. That's assuming that everyone shits out pitch black feces, though.

    ReplyDelete
  50. me too it's the only reason i clicked!

    ReplyDelete
  51. his money !! he own it.. do whatever you want hongki.. as long your voice is still powerful..

    ReplyDelete
  52. 2. [+155, -26] It makes me sick to my stomach to see kids like him call themselves a star and throw around money like that. What's so difficult about being a celebrity that they make money so easily?

I'm sorry but this is so ignorant.

    ReplyDelete
  53. me too. i think nail art is the wrong term, these are like whole finger rings so $50k isn't absurd. if it was $50k on acrylic nail art or something it'll be a bit on the extravagant weird side.

    ReplyDelete
  54. it looks like full finger rings than nail art to me. it doesn't look like something you throw away but jewelry. extravagant? yes, but it's his money and he can buy whatever he wants with it.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Oh well~~ He can afford it.

    ReplyDelete
  56. He worked so hard, more than almost Knetizen commented there, and earned money by himself so he can do whatever he want with HIS money, why do they blame him???

    ReplyDelete
  57. what do you mean by "some kpop guy" ? The fact that Beyonce is in the music industry before Hongki doesn't make her better.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Tha fuck... FT Island like many idols have to do crazy schedules, they don't get enough sleep, enough free time, enough privacy etc etc and now he cant waste HIS money in something he likes... people are seriously somethin'.... you don't know if he also donates to charity.... tsk tsk

    ReplyDelete
  59. Well it's his money and he's worked hard to earn it so he can spend it how he chooses to.

    ReplyDelete
  60. it's his money, plus I don't think he spends it all, because he being sponsored xD

    ReplyDelete
  61. Well what about that billionaire whos building a replica of Titanic heh.

    ReplyDelete
  62. LMAO goodness. k-netizens are so envious of idols....

    ReplyDelete
  63. well.. there are a bunch of celebrities that spent the same amount in PS or whatever trivial hobbies. Nail art is still art, as long as he doesn't spend all his money on it, it does not make him an idiot or abnormal.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Ah..that's a bit much tho.....not even I would spend 50,000 dollars on nail art..and oh please believe I have the money to..well my parents do...

    ReplyDelete
  65. Totally off topic buy what's with k-netizens calling every idol a kid? I've always noticed that since I've been coming to NB, is that just some that people say in Korea or something

    ReplyDelete
  66. I´m not an expert in nail art (what exactly is that?) but 50.000 bucks for a nail polish is little extravagant and it doesn´t even last for long. I would spend it on something else, but whatever, his money, his choice.

    ReplyDelete
  67. But aren't some plastic surgeries a permanent situation? Therefore it lasts. Even plastic surgery is pretty much a solid investment. Nail art is so temporary. I mean, nail art at max can only hold for about a month (gel?) before it starts chipping and looks ugly...

But this must've been over a long period of time. No way could he be throwing around $50,000 over a short length of time.

    ReplyDelete
  68. well, I read somewhere stuff as extravagant as Nail polish made of black diamonds exists and it cost $250,000.00 the bottle SO of course there are people that could spend this amount of money in nail art/nail accesories... my mom wants to strangle me everytime I buy my modest nail polishes... if she were Hongki's mom, he'd be dead by now ROFL..!
its true you could buy lots of stuff with that money but as long as he uses his money, I dont see the problem...

    ReplyDelete
  69. LOL Same!~ But he does do that stuff as well!~ His nails are...really pretty...

Even in the "Severely" video I think you can see that.

    ReplyDelete
  70. celebrity always find new way to waste money

    ReplyDelete
  71. lol you do realize s/he is playing a k-netizen? k-netizens seem to hate idols.

    ReplyDelete
  72. People act as if that's all he spends his money on. That money was just for on the side, I'm sure he uses the rest of his money on the things he needs to.

    ReplyDelete
  73. it's ridiculous and superficial for anyone who spends money on things they want and don't need. HongKi isn't the victim people are just bitter and infact jealous he has that kind of money to spend.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Eh.. isn't it normal to invest in something you like? If he likes it and has the money for it, he has the right to use it however he likes. Calling him abnormal and a brainless idiot is going /way/ too far. I admit I'm also jealous, though.

    ReplyDelete
  75. True, you got a point there. But still if he is "genius in the nail industry", then he probably could work on it, do some collaboration, new patterns designs or atleast get a sponsor. I wouldn't spent so much money in my nails, I don't even paint mines yet I'm pretty sure that some korean girls will be willing to have them done fancily.
Getting some sense wouldn't hurt him though I think I just got mad at netizens for being too rude.

  80. That's quite true. But I think he just meant for it to be a hobby to show to the Primadonnas. Not something he wanted to draw complete attention to by everyone. I understand though. Netizens are always rude. Sadly Hong Ki is no exception.
