North Korea only allows women to wear their hair in 18 different ways and men in 10 different ways. When wearing hanbok, women will normally wear their hair loose, and when wearing 'western clothes', they will perm it loosely.

Married women normally wear their hair short whereas unmarried women either braid it or tie it up in a ribbon.

Men cannot let a strand of hair grow longer than 5 cm and are required to cut their hair every 15 days.

Anyone who deviates will have their name publicly humiliated on national news.
