The new SISTAR19 song is basically sung entirely by Hyorin with a brief featuring by Bora.. And Dasom is as bad of an actress as Kang Min Kyung with no singing skills to boot. They really need to be thankful towards Hyorin for carrying their weight.. It just amazes me that Yoona, Goo Hara, and Sohee are always hated on for their lack of talent but Bora and Dasom manage to get a pass all the time..

Honestly, the reason I started liking SISTAR in the first place was because of "Ma Boy", it was such a good song! I loved it so much lol. So I'm not gonna lie, I was disappointed with this comeback... it really does seem like a cheap attempt to replicate the success of "Alone" and seems more like a song that the whole group could've done together instead of in this sub-unit. Plus I want more Bora! She participated way more in "Ma Boy" that it actually felt like a duo. In this new song... it's like she's a featuring rapper in Hyorin's solo.

Instead it's Hyorin, the most talented in the group, that is the most popular and gets the most attention so they have no reason to be bashed about having a talentless face of the group. Duh

I honestly agree with this comment. personally I expected more from them.
Ma Boy was way better. They tried to recreate alone but it was just too boring for me. I wish it was soyu instead of bora I cannot stand her "rapping" and she's just there to look pretty. I feel like compared to alone the dancing here was much more try hard sexy than natural.

It was very Alone+Ma Boyish...they really didn't have a new concept or anything...and the dance was similar to Alone...but with more butt wiping. And the dance just didn't cut it - it was kinda boring honestly, since 90% of it was just them sitting on the table and rubbing their butts on it like they had a bad itch.

And like netizens said, it could've easily been done as a group, like a follow up song to Alone. They're already a small numbered group as they are already, why is a duo needed anyways. I mean they're just 4. I agree, it seems that they've found a certain image/genre that fits them and they're just going to stick with which can be a downfall because people may grow tired of it sooner or later.

There are so many groups fighting for attention/putting out music/staging comebacks that there isn't room to breathe leading producers to just keep going back to the same tried and true formula to keep pumping out music. Similarly, these artists saw success with those producers so they keep going back to the same people, in Sistar's case Brave Brothers. Sistar got lucky with Alone, because while it was a good song, it sounded really similar to Teen Top's To You. If the timing had been different it could've easily have been Teen Top riding the wave. I actually thought that To You was better, but it didn't get half the attention that Alone did.

ReplyDeleteI've seen comments by k-fans about how Sistar is so close to be the "one top" girl group. what they really lack of to be called the top group is a strong/large fanbase, which is quite apparent in their physical sales. It's kinda weird though because usually when an idol group is getting really popular there would be an increase in their physical sales too. Like T-ara, after Roly Poly their album sales increased significantly.
Sistar came out with hits after hits but there has not been a significant increase in their album sales.... But i guess we shall see how they do this year...
I don't know, I don't think it's fair to compare the two. CNBlue may be well-known but not as digital monsters like Sistar. And hate me all you want but MOST of Sistar's fame was brought on by Hyorin with or without the other two that's why they were dubbed as the group of "talent over face".
