1. [+883, -80] If you guys vote me as best reply, I'll go to Rain's press conference when he discharges and throw two eggs at him; one blue, one red.
2. [+609, -18] Yoo Seung Jun: Damn, I should've just gone to the army...
3. [+555, -41] The military is really playing favorites with Rain, aren't they... If he were a regular soldier, he would've been sent to jail. To everyone enlisting soon, make sure you become a celebrity before you enlist.. You see how easy you can have it, right~~~
4. [+103, -4] To save one person named Rain, the military has decided to drop the morale of 600,000 soldiers across our nation. Once Rain discharges, he best not dare talk about his service on TV or ever call himself a world star.
5. [+85, -2] Well, I hate Jung Ji Hoon now

1. [+1,393, -146] A most extraordinary ba$tard if I ever saw one. Has he ever even kept night watch before?
2. [+1,249, -117] Probation ㅋㅋㅋ If this were any other soldier, the military would've done everything they could to throw him in jail in fear of lowering the troop's morale. What the fu*k
4. [+208, -3] He needed a consequence and they gave him 7 days of probation;; You ba$tards, you just gave him another week of vacation ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
5. [+196, -6] Just discharge him. He's not going to serve properly anyway, why waste resources on dressing him as a soldier
-

So.. The military that gave him special treatment is the one giving him his one week probation? Something's not right here...
ReplyDeleteRain why did you do this man..
ReplyDeleteYou were one of my favorite kpop idols :( Followed you for years!!...
Shame.. :/
[+196, -6] Just discharge him. He's not going to serve properly anyway, why waste resources on dressing him as a soldier
ReplyDeleteagreed. why waste korean tax dollars on giving the illusion rain is actually serving his military service honourably?
Seems like Rain is a martyr for all of the other celebrity soldiers currently getting thrown on the chopping block for abusing their perks. While he does deserve punishment, the people who are most at fault in this situation are the people who made "celebrity soldiers" a thing in the first place. It shouldn't even be an option. Just throw them all into active duty if they can handle it and if they're needed for a particular role, then they can perform those duties.
ReplyDeleteWhen is Rain going to actually speak up? He's really just letting the army handle all of this for him. Honestly I'm starting to wonder how much money he and/or his company is donating to the army, otherwise he would've been thrown in jail in almost an instant. He's going to loose his fame and popularity unless he wants to be labeled as "The guy who got special treatment from the army" for the rest of his life
ReplyDeletewhy "you were" of course his behavior is wrong but if you loved his music continue to love it his bad actions does not alternate his talent or the qualities of his music
ReplyDeleteRain should just take the punishment he deserves. By getting special treatment even now, he is digging his grave deeper ><
ReplyDeleteHis career has died, come back just to die again, and cemented itself into the ground. I wonder what he will do when he gets out?
ReplyDeleteYeah Rain is truly talented.. A really good singer and dancer... one of the ultimate kpop idols
ReplyDeleteyes he is ,and even thoug his behavior was wrong it's kind of sad that he has to take the blame for all the celebrities who also had privileges but didn't get caught
ReplyDeleteoh he will never hear the end of this...like EVER !!!! poor Yoo Seung Joon was treated so harshly, as if other celebrities doing those desk jobs are revolutionary.
ReplyDeleteFirst off, I don't think celebrities should receive any special treatment -- Rain doesn't deserve to be treated any better than my dad, who also served in the South Korean army. That being said, I can see why celebrities aren't thrown into active service -- being an active soldier is very demanding, and the suicide rates prove it. If something serious happened to a beloved Hallyu star, it could be a public relations disaster for the military.
ReplyDelete1. [+883, -80] If you guys vote me as best reply, I'll go to Rain's press conference when he discharges and throw two eggs at him; one blue, one red.
ReplyDeletePlease, let me be logical for a second.
You're angry that someone isn't being a good citizen? Well, then, it doesn't really make sense to go off and commit a crime...
If not active duty, then public or non-active service with the same treatment as everyone else, at the very least. The role of "celebrity soldier" should not even exist, in my opinion. In that situation, everyone there should be considered a male citizen with equal rights.
ReplyDeleteIf he comes out with a mega hit like PSY all will be forgiven. Because that's what they did with PSY.
ReplyDeleteIt worked for Heechul so why not?
ReplyDeleteExactly. He should not be the "example" if others are doing it let them do their own punishments and let them be outted by netizens.
ReplyDeleteheechul enlisted as a public service soldier tho? don't see why you have to involve him when they're in two different situations
ReplyDeleteheechul is a public service worker. and rain enlisted at an active duty solider after years of acting like he'd take his military service seriously and then he switched to being a "celebrity solider" after just a few months, while heechul was always honest about how he would serve..
ReplyDeleteWell, Psy sorta tried to get out of fulfilling his military duty and wound up having to enlist again. Which was years before "Gangnam Style" even came about...
ReplyDeleteIs it really a crime to egg people?
ReplyDeleteSo food fights are illegal?
It's better that he doesn't say anything at all. There isn't anything for him to say, no excuses can really be made.
ReplyDeleteStaying in luxury hotels, getting several days off, being allowed to date, receiving phone calls... It was already bad enough that he enlisted as active duty but still only had to do a radio show. After the training, which he supposedly did well in, he didn't have to do everything that the other soldiers had to.
And now, he's only given a week of probation when any other soldier would've been thrown in jail.
Jail is not a nice place to be, obviously. But it's where people go when they break the rules.
Seriously... If Rain does "speak up" like you want him to, what do you expect him to say? He's already apologized.
But he still gets to go out drinking with his friends and appears in pictures.
ReplyDeleteWhich is against the rules.
He may be in public service, but he's still active duty. Heechul is being allowed to break an extraordinary number of rules.
A week of probation is hardly a punishment. It just means that someone is going to be watching his really closely for a whole 7 days.
ReplyDeleteThey should either have put him in jail like a regular soldier, or taken away his (and all other idol's) special liberties and make him do REAL military work.
Fuck Leeteuk's musical.
Fuck Rain's radio show.
And good riddance to all the celebrities who are shameless enough to accept the special liberties being offered to them. They could easily have just refused the extra days of leave and the offer to be in a useless musical (Leeteuk can't even fucking sing, WTF) but no. They CHOSE to accept it.
Smh. Disappointed.
S true ! I mean he spent 70 days wandering around and doing merely anything and they guve him 7 days if probation whaouuu ! "Normal" soldiers spend their everyday working out.what is a punishment for him is the everyday situation of normal soldiers
DeleteHe should take responsibility and choose to re-enlist himself if he wants people to respect him again...
ReplyDeleteHe could go to America and film movies there....
ReplyDeleteI think rain has paid enough tax dollars to the government to cover more than a few of his soldiers cost and his....... @.$
ReplyDeletei was so over rain for awhile but then he came back with love song. roflmao. it was parodied all over. he'll probably bounce back
ReplyDeletei'm not trying to be his savior, but it seems as if many people don't understand the true problem behind all of this. all the blame should not just be put onto rain, but his superiors and the high officials that let him get away with this kind of shit too. any celebrity soldier that attempts to use their fame/fortune to their advantage in terms of military service and the people that let them get away with it should be treated the same a regular citizen. thrown in the cella with all of 'em.
ReplyDeleteso have a lot of other soliders that didn't get the preferential treatment rain got
ReplyDeleteI'm loving this backlash against Rain. He always came off as an asshole and douchebag. Great to see his fanbase has gone down dramatically.
ReplyDeleteEven if he re-enlist i dont think it will change anything much. I doubt he wants to endure another 2 years of hardship in military. Also, that would make him disappear from TV screen for 4 years. That would affect his popularity too.
ReplyDeleteWell it would be "endure 2 years of hardship" because he didn't really endure anything since he enlisted xD
DeleteMMA try to get him back to serve but he filled a lawsuit against MMA. He lost the lawsuit and as a result he had to re-enlist. Therefore, It wasn't his decision to re-enlist. He had 2 option: re-enlist or go to jail.
ReplyDelete4. [+103, -4] To save one person named Rain, the military has decided to drop the morale of 600,000 soldiers across our nation. Once Rain discharges, he best not dare talk about his service on TV or ever call himself a world star.
ReplyDeleteHe never called himself a world star, you morons did.
. [+883, -80] If you guys vote me as best reply, I'll go to Rain's press
ReplyDeleteconference when he discharges and throw two eggs at him; one blue, one
red.
Let's wait and see what's gonna happen on the preson. lol this thing reminds me of that incident when a guy throws his shoes at bush.
[+208, -3] He needed a consequence and they gave him 7 days of
probation;; You ba$tards, you just gave him another week of vacation
This so much. 7days probation? Do you mean 7 days of doing nothing?
All Rain has to do is get into another American movie and they'll be kissing his ass all over again,
ReplyDeletetotally agree...
ReplyDeletehe did through his company's media play.
ReplyDeleteTo be fair to Heechul, he himself doesn't post those pictures. It's the people he's with and around him.
ReplyDeleteAlso, "active service" is different from "public service," which Heechul is doing. He's basically a glorified minimum-wage worker for the government with an 8-to-5 job. He's not an active soldier with the task of being with the rest of soldiers that are made to defend the country. If he really was violating some rules, then he would've been punished by now.
Rain abusing the privileges he's gotten =/= Heechul going out at night.
Eeeeh. Worked for Psy anyway. Everyone knows he fucked up his military service, so he did it twice. Now it's just something they joke about.
ReplyDeleteA Mega hit by Rain and things will take 180 turn.. Waiting for my World Star
ReplyDeleteThrow an egg and see what happens later. If the cops doesnt take you away then thats really not illegal. I bet who could DARE to do such.
ReplyDeleteOnly crazy fangirls will do such a thing.. Netizens will only type their keyboard.
ReplyDeleteI love the third comment on the second article.
ReplyDeleteWhy treat Rain with such disrespect? He's done a lot for Korea by showing the world kpop and even casting in American movies. It seems like actors, actresses, and idols are treated like dirt in their own country more than anywhere else. People make mistakes. He just got caught. Instead of yelling at Rain you should be demanding that the military be reformed because, believe me, this is going to happen with celebrities again, whether netizen's find out about it or not. Rain is going to have a successful comeback overseas and Korea's going to kiss his ass again just like they did with Psy. I hate Psy btw.
ReplyDeleteHe has a metal placket on his leg and he can't fulfill any of the military duties.
ReplyDeleteNot like S.Korean military is dying to use his super athletic body and skills for fights, they let him host a radio and let him be.
I kinda feel bad for him..I don't condone what he did BUT I'm sure there are more CELEBRITY names that did what he's done but was never caught. So sad that he's the only one getting all the heat when I'm pretty sure many Celebrity Soldiers is also doing what he did. I guess now they'll treat Rain as an example to not get caught slacking off in the army..
ReplyDelete[+208, -3] He needed a consequence and they gave him 7 days of
ReplyDeleteprobation;; You ba$tards, you just gave him another week of vacation
ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
exactly
It worked for psy because of GS. Rain just need to re-enlist and release a song like GS.
ReplyDeleteKoreans have been joking about Psy's 4-year military service long before Gangnam Style though.
