which they were in 2008. Tell Me, So Hot, Nobody were HUGE hits. They were even more popular than snsd back then. After going to the states, they lost a lot of popularity, and now they're not as big as snsd and 2ne1.

ReplyDeletePopularity doesn't last forever, and WG and Wonderfuls understood that once they would leave to America, they would lose their fandom. Of course they would, they're hardly promoting in Korea and spent 2 years away, of course they wouldn't maintain their popularity and 'Top girl group' title... bdamut if you're talking stats, WG's Korean fanclub is as the same as 2NE1, they may not be as popular international as compared to the artists you mentioned, but they're still doing well for themselves despite the Korean 'hiatus'.. and if you didn't research the girls yourselves, the girls are starting to heavily promote in Korea now as solo activities has been confirmed by JYPE.

ReplyDeleteThey were #1 in Korea... for like, two seconds before SNSD took over. They flopped in the US. Their Korean comeback was pretty much a bust. Their acting careers in the US are also a bust...
JYP taking WG to the states was the stupidest idea he's ever had.
It left room for SM to push SNSD to the top spot, and they were smart enough to use that number one position to secure all of the members high paying endorsement deals, drama roles, and their status as the #1 girl group in Korea boosted their career in Japan as well.
OF COURSE popularity doesn't last forever.
ReplyDeleteBut SNSD has been the #1 girl group in Korea for the past 3 years. Because of that, they've made millions of dollars and their fanbase grew exponentially. (This is why even though their new album is the worst piece of shit they've ever released, it's still #2.)
JYP could've done the same with WG but he got greedy and ended up losing money. Even worse... his other cash cow, 2PM, has lost THEIR momentum as well. Lots of fans left after JYP kicked Jay out, and even more left in the years that followed because of various events... Nichkhun DUI being one of them.
The person who started that rumor didn't think the whole thing through LOL.

DeleteSince when? Hyuna was at the funeral for Sunye's father and she even stayed up all night at the funeral with Sunye and the other WG's members. If you watch the special stage from 2010 where hyuna did "chitty chitty bang bang" with some other girl group members, hyuna could barely even do the choreography because she had been awake with sunye all night before that performance

Ignore all that endorsement bullshit and look strictly at what they're going to be remembered for which is their music. Do you think people will remember SNSD because they had a bunch of CF deals and dramas? No, odds are people are going to remember them for winning so many times with Gee. The same thing is going to happen with the Wonder Girls. The Wonder Girls are going to remember for Tell Me and Nobody, their biggest hit songs. Just because you're on top doesn't make you accomplished if you haven't left your mark.

ReplyDeleteOf course any group would rise to fame if they stayed in Korea, at least the WG had the courage to go beyond and open new doors for future artists, see if any other girl group did the same thing, they would have similar to little success than what the WG has already achieved. Keep on hating, anti.
2pm has been able to keep some momentum in korea last year despite no comeback with woo's solo album, variety shows, events and cfs...they did lose fans when jay left but they gained more after his departure and there haven't been many if any fans that left after nichkhun's accident.
